This dealership sold the prior owner of my vehicle a new set of tires. The tires came with, and this was put in writing, tire rotation included "for the life of the tires". According to the people who sold me the vehicle, they specifically asked about transferability since they were getting ready to sell the vehicle. I have a copy of the sales which says the tires came with rotation for the life of the tires, and says nothing about any limitation, such as limited only to the original owner. Nonetheless, the dealership refuses to honor this and will not rotate the tires. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at Norm Reeves Honda Irvine. I brought my hybrid in over a week ago because of a hybrid battery failure. I was initially told the battery would be covered under warranty, which was great. I understood that repairs can take time. What I did NOT understand was how a dealership can keep someone's vehicle for over a week, find additional issues after the original repair, not offer a loaner vehicle, and then barely communicate with the customer. Honda apparently no longer offers loaner cars, so our household has been down to one vehicle. That was manageable because I'm currently on maternity leave, but I return to work in one week, and I now have no idea when I'm getting my car back. The hybrid battery has supposedly been fixed, but then another issue came up. And then another. At this point, I have been without my vehicle for over a week. I was specifically told I would receive a call with an update on Saturday. No call. I gave them the weekend because, fine, it's the weekend. But then nothing Monday. Nothing Tuesday. And today, Wednesday, my calls weren't even returned. This is completely unacceptable customer service. If you are going to keep someone's car for more than a week, discover additional problems, refuse to provide a loaner, and then not return their calls or provide updates, what exactly is the customer supposed to do? And honestly, the whole situation makes the "Helpful Honda" slogan feel like a joke. If the original repair is covered under warranty, but suddenly there are additional issues and absolutely no communication, it starts to feel like the dealership is looking for anything they can add on to the bill. I'm not saying problems can't happen. Cars break. Repairs take time. Communication is the bare minimum. If you have my car, tell me what is happening with it. If there's another problem, explain it. If you don't know when it will be finished, tell me that. But completely ignoring a customer for days after promising an update is unacceptable. I purchased a new crv less than a year ago and was told maintenance the first year would be free. Today I came in for my first oil change and was old I had to pay $189 for differential fluid to be drained and replaced with genuine Honda differential fluid. Why is this not covered? Why would there not be the proper fluid installed with the purchase of the car? I find this business practice to be unacceptable on the part of both Honda and the dealership to not notify people that there is a differential fluid that has to be changed out at the first oil and is not covered. ***Amended...initially rated 1 star but Sean the service manager apologized for the issue and took care of the charges. Mark was super transparent about their pricing and was not pushy or made us feel like there was a catch. Showed us the Costco master discount list that every dealership is supposed to show you when you come to their dealership. At the end of the day, they were the best pricing and worked with us on what we wanted and what we didnt want on the car. While it was a bit disappointing about the communication about the add-ons being ready and it did waste half a day waiting around, the overall experience was great. The service department has really gone downhill. A couple of years ago, I promised I would never go back but I went back today for an oil change and to have some problems checked out. I can understand that they couldn't diagnose the problem, but what I don't understand is that when they do find something that needs fixing/replacing, they don't call you to say "we found this, do you want us to take care of it?' - they just leave you with a report when you pick up the car. My mom reached an OTD price on a 2013 Honda pilot with a fleet manager by the name of Danyal Rasheed through a phone call and text message. When we went there to finalize the agreement in person which we drove from far away, the OTD price was not honored and added unnecessary add ons to the vehicle which was an additional 4K. There was no empathy and nothing was being done to regain our trust. I believe this dealership will do it to another customer(s). Was not really greeted ok, was rushed through the process of check in. Not advised on the progress of the work. And getting my car back was not better either. Also, your waiting area really needs some work. The seats are old and need to refurbished or replaced. The TV was on but with no sound. The parts area next to the service was really small and didn't have as many things as other dealerships that I have been to. And lastly, after you treat me like nothing, don't have the advisor call me 4 days later asking how is it going. That is just dumb. We actually initially test drove two cars at first and left the dealership to think on it... We kept in touch with Mo and he was our total advocate. I am extreme unhappy to be charge for a replacement of my car battery that I did not authorized. There was no mentioned of it in proposed service communication. We came to pick up the vehicle after we got text that it was ready only to be informed that the total was $240 dollars more than our text balanced because they replaced the battery. When, I mentioned that we were not informed and did not authorized the work, we were told that the tech misunderstood and had already completed the battery replacement. This is after I specifically mentioned first thing Saturday morning at drop off that I wanted to do an oil change. Check out some of the indicators light messages I saw. If anything else comes up, it will not be done today but want to know about and will consider for future appointments. Given that my last two battery replacement with AAA, they came to us, I would like to have my options. Also, this is $100 more than the current completive rate. I was given a discount of $40 for the unapproved and unauthorized repairs but it's still cost, $60 more. Update: As of 11/26 no one from Norm Reeves Irvine has contacted us though I did send messages and email at the start of the week. My service indicator light came on again so I do question if the initial service recommendation was completed. Absolute insanity. I was just quoted nearly $1000 for maintenance on my Civic (which incidentally has only 25,000 miles). I left, and I will not ever go back there for maintenance. For clarity: The maintenance code on my car was B127, so that's the first few items on the list. B is the basic service with oil change, 12 is air filter and cabin filter, and 7 is brake fluid. They didn't attempt to explain any of this to me; just sort of handed me this paper and said "let us know which items you want to do today." It was just based on the "maintenance schedule" in the computer; so no inspection at that point, and my car wasn't experiencing any problems or anything. ----- Note that there is an older, unrelated response from an employee, from when I had a good experience buying a car several years ago. read more

We recently took our car to Norm Reeves Honda Service for a simple oil change. I waited an hour and a half in their customer lounge, which I understood since I had an appointment and knew it could take time. What I didn't expect was to be told afterward that my car had been hit by one of their service technicians while it was parked. The service manager, Abnez, who usually helps us, informed me about the accident and tried to make the situation sound better by offering to fix the additional scuff underneath the bumper and waive the oil change cost. While that was appreciated, he made it seem like it wasn't a big deal and that it happens all the time but it was a big deal to me. My bumper was damaged, body lines were moved and my headlight was broken. I had to ask for documentation showing they were taking responsibility, none of that was offered to me, I had to ask and insisted for documentation which I thought would be standard. Even then, the only paper I got was a receipt saying repairs would be free, with no other details. After bringing the car home still damaged, I had to call multiple times to finally get a loaner vehicle 3-4 days later because at the time they would not give me a loaner vehicle. When they first tried to return my car it took them only 1 day to turn around and the headlight was still broken, the paint color didn't match at all, and the body lines were uneven. The collision manager, Angel, insisted it was fixed when it clearly wasn't. I left the car there and he said they would try again. Very disappointing. Later I spoke with Kevin, the Honda manager, about the situation and requested an incident report and insurance information. To this day, they have refused to provide it, claiming they "don't have insurance other than for their fleet." A week later the car was rejected again, it took another week. The paint looked slightly better, and the headlight was finally fixed, but now I have paint chips, running paint, and mismatched lines and they even painted an undamaged area just to blend it in. I still haven't received an incident report, my car is still not fully repaired, and their communication has been awful. I've had to call every day just to get updates. This entire experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. Keep in mind this happened at the beginning of September and now end of October. I expected accountability and professionalism from a dealership like Norm Reeves Honda, but instead, I've experienced negligence, poor communication, and lack of responsibility. I called the dealership in advance to confirm whether they would purchase used cars. A gentleman named Ed told me they did, so I went in. As soon as he saw my car--only 24,000 miles after a three year lease, he initially assumed I was naive. He told me I wouldn't have to pay the last two payments or the $350 returning fee. But once he realized I wasn't so easily fooled, he offered me $18K. I told him the car was worth more, and he bumped it to $19K. While I was on the phone with my brother, I mentioned $19K. At this time, I told Ed that I will wait for my brother to come. Once he arrived, he confronted Ed, pointing out that they were trying to buy the car from me cheaply and then resell it for $25K to $26K, given its low mileage and pristine condition. Ed, without hesitation and in a rude tone, said we didn't deserve any money and that he was paying us what he saw fit. When I told him he was insulting us, he said I insulted him by trying to sell it for a higher price. I clarified that I was just stating the car's brand value, but he never apologized. He was prideful in his rude behavior. I am very disappointed in Honda, as a brand that hires such rude and unprofessional sales managers. I did a lot of the haggling with another dealership actually but this one beat their lowest price and didn't attempt to tack on weird fees and warranties. The other dealer also tried to trick me into a colour I wasn't interested in. I went to their website and emailed their Internet sales person Sue who worked with me to get the deal I wanted. Then while at the dealership I went on a test drive and did initial paperwork with Brandon. Brandon was very nice. Actually everyone I interacted with was professional and nice. Did not get bad vibes at this dealership. The only negative was it took forever to get "in the box" for the financing paperwork. I think I was actually there after business hours it took so long. I've had the car for a few months now and have had no issues getting registration or billing done. I'm pretty satisfied. We'll see if that is the same when I deal with their service department. Ended up waiting nearly an hour for that. When they called the next day to say it was ready, I reminded them (again) that I'd need a ride back. I was told no problem--they'd set it up for 4 p.m. But no one ever showed. I called, texted, even left two voicemails. Nothing. Finally got through to the receptionist around 5:45 who told me they don't even offer pickup service the next day. That's the opposite of what I was told. Eventually, they sent an Uber around 5:20. When I got there, my service advisor, Amery, had already left for the day. No heads-up, no handoff to anyone else. I've been in the car business over 20 years and never seen a service advisor take off before a customer comes to pick up their car--especially without saying something. I brought my Honda Prologue in for a tire change and the entire experience was extremely disappointing. I dropped it off at 1:00 PM and didn't get it back until almost 6:00 PM. During the service, they broke my tire-pressure sensor and told me they'd replace it, yet when I left, my dash still lit up with a "sensor not working" message. On top of that, my car had about 80 miles of range when I dropped it off, and only 60 miles when I picked it up--30 miles that just disappeared while it was in their care. The worst part was the lack of professionalism and communication. Employees were openly talking about how stressed, hot, and overworked they were. When my car was finally "done," I was simply handed paperwork with no explanation of what had been fixed or what to expect. Just, "your car should be outside." This kind of customer service is unacceptable. The manager of the Irvine dealership should really pick up the phone and call Jonathan, a service representative at Buena Park Honda, to ask for tips. Jonathan sets the gold standard--he communicates clearly, explains everything in detail, and makes sure you feel taken care of. That's the level of service every Honda location should be striving for. Bottom line: long wait, broken sensor, unexplained mileage loss, and poor customer service.
