After one of my dogs had surgery here, I made appointments for my other two dogs, standing inside of their clinic. I had to answer questions about their age, and if they were vaccinated and their names... I made appointments for them while INSIDE of their vet clinic. Got called to confirm the appointments, went to show up for the appointment and Susan at the front desk was incredibly rude to me about how I messed something up because my dogs don't have appointments with them. This place will mess up your appointments and then be rude to you when you show up with your pets for appointments they made for you! I do not recommend this clinic at all. read more

Fabulous vet. Awesome customer service. I highly recommend this clinic! I brought my dog In for OFA hip X-rays. They did the X-ray timely and I was able to pick her up by Noon. They made the process easy and did all the paperwork for me and then submitted the paperwork to OFA directly. There fees were totally reasonable. The staff called and followed up to see how she was doing. So thoughtful and it was appreciated. They are an all around great vet! read more

When you've been a patient for a number of years and are refused an appointment with a dog with a severe allergic reaction and told to go to an emergency clinic that is not even open, that says a lot about your level of care for your patients. read more

Upsell, upsell, upsell!! I few months back, my GSD sprained a leg and I called for an appointment. I was informed that I could get in the next day but would be considered a "same day appointment", therefore a $89 fee would apply. I declined. Today, I followed up for an annual exam and a vaccination after a 3 week lead time to get in. I was instructed to bring him in for weighing, then return to my car to wait as the Dr. was running behind (45 minutes to be exact), After answering questions and asking questions with the "tech".. I was informed there would be an additional $69 charge for any "exam" beyond a wellness exam (??).. After expressing my frustration over a charge that would have doubled my bill, the Vet came in and RUDELY told me that if I didn't like their policies, I should leave the practice - I did! Wow! After over 15 years praising Northwoods, my advice now is to RUN!! read more

I have been a client since 2006. As of today, I will no longer be taking my pets to this business. Appointments are weeks out, well, that's to be expected with the influx of new residents. What really got me was when I asked if there was a cancellation list. I was told that I could call in daily to check. BUT, if there was, I would be charged $89.00 for an "urgent care" visit. Wait just a minute....you have a cancellation where you will be losing revenue if not filled and I pay a penalty for filling it? Who was the genius that thought this one up? read more

I didn't know about writing a review or I would have done this sooner. I want to warn people of how incompetent Dr. Mudge is. I brought my dog in when she was limping on her back right leg. Dr. Mudge took her back and Xrayed her front legs and said she had arthritis. Not knowing she Xrayed the wrong legs as it was clearly seen that she was limping on her back leg. She gave us medicine for arthritis. But after 2 months, she seemed to be getting worse. So we took her back. Dr Mudge said, Oh was it her back leg.?... Duh...YES. Even my grandson knew she was limping on her back leg. HOW WE MISS DR. MIKE MILFIIED. We had been going to him for 20 years and recommended him to all. I was so angry. My sister recommended Dr Roger's on Seltice. He immediately knew it was her back leg and the next day she had surgery for a torn ligament. How a Vet could let a dog walk around with a torn ligament. I think Dr. Mike Miilfield would be appalled of Dr Mudge as to her uncaring, ineptness and incompetence. THIS IS A WARNING. read more

We've been clients of Northwoods since 2011. Through 3 dogs and 5 cats Dr Mike was excellent and so was service. Since Dr. Mike has stepped back, this has turned into a poorly managed McDonalds of a vet clinic. They no longer answer phones, phone tree, leave a message, hope in vain for a call back. The vets are all brand new out of school, care is crap as is service, price is top tier though. Looking for a new vet. read more

Have been a long time client of Northwoods vet. Dr. Mike was amazing, but since he left it has gone down hill greatly. Do not care about their clients at all! Can't get an appointment, and once you do finally get in, they are very expensive and unable to diagnose. Good for scheduled vaccines, and nothing more. What a shame. read more

We were visiting the area from out of town and on the last day of our trip my dog hurt his tail. I was nervous we wouldn't be able to get him in anywhere soon enough and knew he at least needed some pain meds. They got me right in the day I called and were super friendly and helpful! When we got there for the apt they were super efficient and took us right to a room the dr came in about 5 min later , diagnosed and gave him an anti inflammatory med to take home right there in office, not to mention at check out I was pleasantly surprised with how inexpensive the visit was! This is tough for me. I started with Northwoods in 2015 with a dog which has since passed. Dr Mike was excellent to work with through my dog's decline. I subsequently got a new companion, a puppy. Again Dr Mike was helpful, professional and thorough in the first few months with the pup. The clinic was clearly growing rapidly. At a annual well dog visit a new vet, Dr Marie, saw my pup. If possible she was even better than Dr Mike. Clearly she loved dogs! Then something went sidewise. My pup was attacked by two neighbor dogs, was bleeding and needed attention. I called Northwoods but was told they had no record of either my dog or I and couldn't see him at that time. (To this day, two years later, they have trouble finding my dog or me in there system). I took my pup to an emergency vet in Hayden. They were expensive but really good. Next came the two year well dog checkup and vaccines. This time we were seen by a different vet, one who I'd guess was not long out of school, who appeared to be afraid of my dog. Although the vaccine updates were administered unless visually looking at a dog is an adequate wellness checkup it didn't happen...although I was charged for one. And finally the last checkup. I requested a different vet. I got a different vet. Again, quite young. This time there was almost no acknowledgement of either my dog or myself. The vet walked up to my dog from the side and started pressing on him behind his rib cage. I admit my guy is pretty spirited. He is also well known and has lots and lots of human friends in my community. He growled. If someone I didn't know walked up to me and started poking me I would too! Didn't a governor just get fired for that kind of behavior? Anyway, he got his vaccine updates. The well dog exam was nil. The vet, maybe more a technician, spent more time at the computer than with either my dog or myself. But. That means we are two years without a real checkup. That is a concern. So. This was long. But I have recommended Northwoods to a lot of people and I would do so now with reservations. I will probably look for a new medical home for my guy. I am so thankful for this place... thank you to the doctor and staff. I had a very sick little dog that required emergency surgery. All options were given along with the prices. There prices are very very reasonable. I would recommend this place for your fur babies. They got me in same day. read more

I just moved into the area and visited Northwoods Vet Clinic because one of my animals was injured. WHAT a nice place this is. The Doctor was great, competent, knowledgable, and thorough. My animal required surgery, and I was provided with a written estimate of the services needed. The cost of treatment was reasonable, and about a third of the cost for similar emergency care I paid for a similar incident with one of my other dogs when I lived in Kentucky. The other thing I liked about this clinic: although the facility is a newer construction, it is not large and I didn't feel like I was getting charged to compensate for high overhead. Honestly, if I lived in Hayden or Coeur d'Alene, I would drive the distance to use this vet clinic read more

Just cannot say enough good things about Dr. Mike and his staff. All of the employees are very knowledgeable & the customer service is excellent. Their concern for the patient comes first and foremost. Follow-up after care is exceptional with phone calls; additional appointments scheduled; or a direct review with the DVM. I currently have 5 dogs that are patients here. In the past I have had additional pets including dogs & cats that have been patients here. We have been loyal customers for years. I am very highly pleased with the quality of service that the hospital provides. Highly recommend the expertise of this vet. Quite a value for a local business. I will not trust my pets to any other doctor. I am a loyal customer of this business and will remain so forever. read more

Our yellow lab (Scuba) decided to get herself an abscess in her throat 3 days before we were supposed to leave on a multi-week trip in our RV. Our local vet was able to drain it but had to install a drain tube into her neck that would need to be removed after 5-7 days. Our first stop on our trip was a week at Farragut State Park near Athol, ID. We thought we could snip the sutures and remove the drain (the Scube Tube™!) ourselves but lacked the proper equipment. Looked up Northwoods Veterinary Hospital and they were able to see us later the same day. Their business is super clean -- so much so that Scuba didn't know she was even going to the vet! (She usually HATES that.) Vet tech came out and took Scuba into the back. Counter staff was very friendly. 5 minutes later Scuba was all fixed up and they handed her back to me. I tried to pay them for it but they said nope! Highly recommended!!! read more

Recently went to this clinic on a referral. The staff are fantastic, and the doctor is incredible. We have been back for several visits for multiple pets and each visit we are completely satisfied. This is the best vet clinic I have ever been to, and I've known many. And in addition to the knowledge and service, the pricing is very affordable. It does not surprise me that people drive up from Coeur d"Alene to visit this clinic. They are outstanding. read more
