Filthy ER rooms, rude staff that talks about patients with obscene language and antics in front of other patients. They only want to run up bills to get paid and do not listen to symptoms or complaints. Asked for a Patient Advocate and was flat our refused- long story short they made us sign out AMA because the NP and Dr did not have the same direction for dx and what to look for- and caused more issue with a reaction to a Med and refused to help take care of that. read more

4 stars My loved one received excellent care during their inpatient stay. Nursing and care staff were phenomenal. His physician and surgical team worked well to address all concerns. It's not fancy on the outside but they have apl the tech that is needed to properly diagnose and treat. That's most important. Decent cafeteria but the hours are limited. They close at 2 during the week. I don't think it's open on weekends. Great gift shop! read more

well, actually, this is not for her level of care, staff especially OT and PT were great.This is About my 89-year-old mother's bottom dentures that were lost and in fact they just told us in effect sorry about your luck. I think that's shameful that they told us that they were not responsible for lost or stolen items and would do nothing to help us. Shameful. they said they would look, but! my mother broke her shoulder, has dementia, and is now in memory care rehab. She can barely eat. Shameful. Formerly in room 2130. read more

This review pertains to the Clark Memorial Medical Arts Building and its handling of the Covine Vaccine administering; not the hospital per se. The site is located just off exit 1 US 65N in Indiana directly across from downtown Louisville, KY. It ended p being a quote 18 minute drive from the East end of Louisville (Middletown). I received my first dose of the COVID vaccine there and was very impressed with the staff, facility and overall handling of the vaccination process. There was ample parking and signs to direct you to the facility's door. I masked and entered the building and began my journey observing the 6' social distancing rule via the decals on the floor. I checked in online so the 'paperwork' phase was already complete. The line moved swiftly and within ten minutes I had received my injection and was sitting in a holding room for 15-30 minutes to be sure there was no adverse reaction. The medical staff was very courteous / professional and answered all my questions. I received paperwork and an appointment card for the second vaccination. I was pleasantly surprised t how smoothly the entire process was including the travel portion. read more

I came into the ER having a seizure, the nurses and EMT were yelling at me to stop and I couldn't. the EMT was talking to the nurses while I was trying to communicate still having one and I asked him to stop talking. They all started yelling at me saying we will not see you if you are going to speak to us like that, the EMT cussed at me. I was able to ask to sign out because they wouldn't get my husband from waiting room. I will never go back there, it was the most traumatic experience I have had. It was very scary to feel unsafe, uncomfortable and being told no when my husband saw and new what happens and I couldn't speak. I would not go to this hospital the staff are unfriendly and unsafe to be around. read more

From the moment I arrived at the ER via ambulance after a fall, I was treated immediately, professionally, and everything was explained to me as it was happening. I am a former RN so I know what to expect in a hospital setting. I was impressed. Never did anyone speak a rude word to me and after I was diagnosed and admitted with a triple fracture of the pelvis there was only one time I waited longer than 30 seconds for a response to my call button, and that was during a shift change. Even then, it was only a few minutes. I was there 5 days and the food was always tasty and served at the right temperature, although my appetite was diminished. If I had to nit-pick at something, I'm sure I could find some little irritation, but considering the patient load the nurses, assistants, and doctors had, and the positive attitude they displayed, I would highly recommend Clark Memorial Hospital to anyone. From my orientation to the day that we left after having my beautiful daughter, the staff here did their very best to make sure that we had a personal and one-of-a-kind experience. The nurses were angels to me, and seemed very understanding and offered great advice when needed, especially about private matters. The one star dock is not for one thing in particular but a couple of things that might be improved upon. I wish that the menu had been a little better, at least for the patients in the maternity ward. I know the hospital food has to have strict dietary guidelines, but I had just gone through a major deal and didn't have health concerns so I would've loved to something very, very hearty. I also know that having the mother take care of the child and get used to her is very important, but sometimes I really wanted the nurses to take my baby at night for diaper changes and had to ask because it was not offered out right. I had a cesarean and my husband was sleeping, so I didn't want to get up and did not want to wake him. That is all! Thanks to the great team! read more

Avoid Clark Memorial Hospital for all service All service is bad but when told to go to the ER by the primary care, we went. $ 3,345.00 to sit in the Emergency Room for four hours with no service. Labs were drawn, but not available for the doctor the next day. A care plan was made says administration Triaged to lowest level. Sat there until the night emergency room business began. Great place to have a baby... Wonderful nurses (Tricia) and staff...finally got WiFi! What we didn't like: had to come back day after being released for outpatient blood work. Got there and waiting room was empty. Was told we had to go register our newborn as patient, the one just born in their hospital. So we go register, which takes way too long, then go back and have to wait behind a room full of people to get simple bloodwork. read more

Wouldn't recommend going to the ER unless you're dying, because that's what they expect if you're there. We were sent there from urgent care because of computer issues they were experiencing. The sign in nurse and triage nurse (Robyn) were as rude as could be, Robyn even calling me rude when I was trying to ask and answer questions after being ignored from the sign in nurse (Shelby). Yesterday was my first visit there ever. Went to the ER to get checked out and they said they were on the third day of a pilot program where they are trying to serve patients as quickly as possible. I have to say the service was very expedient and everyone was helpful throughout the process. I was in and out in 2.5 hours and that includes several Xrays. Showed up in the ER several years ago because I kept having Tachycardic events and weird blood pressure issues. The ER doc on call (a man, typical of a man to treat a woman like she's there for no reason) just kept telling me, "there's nothing we can do, go home, go see your own doctor." It turns out I have a condition called Hyperadrenergic POTS and Dysautonomia, which can be helped with bolus fluids and care and consideration. The doctors in this ER don't care if you show up and you're a woman with an issue they can't define because their narrow knowledge tells them that you're just "a typical woman." "Hysterical" has been the label used to describe women's issues for years within the "male" physicians medical model. It should be high time that viewpoint is changed. I'll never go here again, but instead to Baptist East (yes, all the way to Louisville) because those doctors actually care about their patients and don't treat women like they are nothing just because they are a "woman" with an "undefined problem" according to the doctor's own intellectual level--which at Clark, was completely Nil. read more

Had to go to the ER on a Saturday night at 4 AM. Thought that it was going to take forever to get back, but I was taken back as soon as I walked in as there was not a single person in the ER waiting room. My nurse, Courtney, was really sweet to me. ER doctor was really friendly and listened to me. I was out by 7 AM, time mostly due to waiting to get my labs back plus shift change. My unnamed curly headed nurse that came in at 6:30/7 AM was extremely rude and I am very grateful I did not have her when I came in. I asked if I could have copies of my labs (wasn't sure if they could do that or if I needed to go to medical records) & she basically spoke to me like I was an idiot. She was rushing me out and literally told me "let me know when you're ready I'll walk you to the exit" which would be fine but she said it with an attitude and then when I was ready, she literally just pointed at the exit door. Don't tell me you're going to walk me out and then just point like... rude. Monday rolled around and I called the hospital main line to get to medical records, and the operator literally screamed "hello" at me half a second later. VERY unprofessional. The lady I spoke to in the medical records was also rude! Apparently first shifters at this hospital hate their jobs, so there's that. 5 star until 630am, then 1 star service. Meet halfway at 3 stars as a whole. read more

As a Registered Nurse for 30 years I advise, unless you are going some place to die avoid this place like the plague. Rooms are filthy nasty, a harbor for MRSA, almost preformed wrong type of blood transfusion on my mother in the Cancer Unit until I stopped them, she complained of chest pain in ER and they did no EKG or cardiac monitoring which is standard and prudent medical care. Tried multiple times to perform blood draws on her when she had a portal access in her shoulder. When I worked there for a short time I saw mushrooms growing from a carpeted room on the Postpartum/Pediatric Unit due to leaking rain water from the roof. Sorry, but I cannot prudently as a medical professional recommend Clark Memorial. If you have something seriously wrong you better head across the river. read more

My family was charged $6000 before insurance for a 25 minute outpatient procedure. Out-of-pocket cost was $4000. I called two supervisors with no return and phone calls regarding my bill. I had major surgery done here on Monday. I chose Clark because that's where my surgeon operates and she has a fabulous reputation. I was a little apprehensive about surgery at Clark because of the reviews I read and the facility being dated. That being said..... the entire staff here has been AMAZING!! I've not wanted for anything, they've been proactive about my needs, and incredibly considerate. Everyone from registration on has been wonderful. My OR nurses and techs have been exceptional. Specifically Nancy, Olivia, and Mollie. They have made an awful situation so much easier to deal with. Really it's been the little things like letting me decide where to put my IV, giving me choices regarding my medicine, and changing my IV bag before it started beeping in the middle of the night so it didn't wake my husband sleeping in the recliner next to me. I honestly couldn't have asked for better care. read more

Wasn't my plan late Monday night to break my foot but I did. The ER main room was almost empty but 2 people I did see sitting down, I was rushed to the back, looked at and Xray came fastest I've ever had there. I could see my pretty broken foot and basically told husband yup it is broken lol We waited for them to tell me I was being admitted for surgery, yes it was broken that bad (Dam Dog) After 12 hours in the ER waiting for a bed to open up, basically hour or so before my surgery. All staff were very pleasant and helpful until after surgery. Once I was moved from recovery to my reg. room I woke up needing to use the restroom, I buzzed the nurses station was told be a few mins which was a lie! ended up being 45 minute wait!! I gave up waiting on them somehow manged to get out my bed still groggy from the surgery, there was a portable toilet next to me bed and I used it Ahhhhhhh is all I felt. As I was getting back into bed nurses came in started to yell at me saying I wasn't suppose to get out of bed, I said well I wasn't going to WET myself either. Told them I will continue to do this not waiting on them to use the restroom. That was the head nurse who did not like the fact I wasn't going to follow her instructions. My nurse bless her heart was trying so hard but kept being pulled away from my room because she was only 1 that could speak Spanish and other nurses kept asking for her help. Another asst. she always came check on my vitals was a sweetheart, we talked a lot and she always helping me out with things I needed ( like wipes, tissues, water). When I finally did get food, after not eating for 36 hours, brought me nasty tasting turkey (if can call it that more like mystery meat) sandwich, warm cottage cheese and only good thing Ice cold orange slices. I called my son to have him bring me something soon he got off work. He brought me me some cheesy bread and candybar. Head nurse came in saying not to eat after midnight in case of another surgery, I was well maybe I should got food sooner that was edible we wouldn't have a problem. Most the night went well Head nurse stayed away from me and my 2 nice nurses helped as much they could, then shift change happened..... Here we go again about being yelled at getting out bed to use portable toilet and food lol Luckily my husband showed up about 10:30 am and he then could help take care of me. Surgeon and my primary doctor came and said all looks good can go home in a little bit after PT came and saw me. Well Head nurse goes and tries to discharge me before PT got there and they were not happy at all. Saw PT and she was a doll! so nice and helpful. When I got my papers to go home my meds were wrong!! my husband and I both told them I couldn't take that type meds it makes me sick, she tears it off the papers and leaves not seeing her again. We waited a bit so we finally left because people were waiting to clean my room. There are some wonderful and helpful people that make up that hospital and some I have no dam Idea how they kept their jobs. Since my primary doctor is part that hosp, which is reason why I went there, I'd go back if I have to only because I love my Doctor she is great!!! read more

We had our 14 month old in the ER on Sunday 10/4/15. This is the note that we wrote below. And they simply responded with they have reviewed and he was given appropriate care... We do not feel that our bill is in any way fair and we would like to dispute it. First of all, our experience with the hospital was not a good one. Upon our arrival, we were asked several questions by either a nurse or a nurse aid regarding our sons condition, as well as vitals taken. Then we returned to waiting room. Then we were asked to go behind the main desk and a women behind us asked us several more questions, many of which were repeated from the first women we spoke to. After returning to the waiting room we were called back to a room. When arriving to our "room" we were told that actually their is not room for us after all at this time and we need to return back to the waiting room. Then we were finally called back again to a room. This "room" we were in was an extremely small area with a tiny hospital "bed" and barely enough space around the "bed" for both parents to sit with our child. We were surrounded by curtains and our "room" was actually shared by many other patients all in the same room divided by curtains. Then another women, of whom I do not know her title, came in and once again, asked us several of the same questions that we had already address with other hospital workers. It seems as if their is no organization to the hospital. If the first women would have entered all of the answers in the computer system, which I'm sure she probably did, then why did all of the other people not just look up that information if they all really needed it instead of asking us over and over again and probably each one billing us separately for it? That is not professional at all. Then finally the physicians assistant (not even a doctor) came in, for probably no more than 5 minutes, took a look at our son and his ears and told us that he needed antibiotics for an ear infection and then left. We were told that we were charged ER care level 3 because our son needed antibiotics. This is the most unfair part of our whole experience because our son was misdiagnosed. A day and a half later (10/06/15) we took our son to his normal doctor because he was developing a rash, which we thought was possibly from the antibiotics that had been given to him the night of our hospital visit and the following morning. We discontinued that evening in case if it was a rash from the antibiotic. Our doctor told us that he did not need antibiotics for his situation and to discontinue them because his diagnoses was viral exanthema and L otitis media, which will clear up on his own. She was correct and his ear infection and all other symptoms did clear up on their own. We would like a fair bill. It is completely unfair to charge us for an ER care level 3 when we were misdiagnosed and did not even need antibiotics to help our son in any way. Antibiotics should never be used unless if absolutely necessary. Because we were misdiagnosed, our son would have been on antibiotics for 10 days when it would have been completely not needed. We are upset about this, but more upset that the hospital will not own up to the mistakes, that they had a physicians assistant working in their facility who misdiagnosed our son and caused us a lot of extra cost. Obviously, we didn't know for sure how serious our son's condition was at the time, which is why we took him to the hospital. We were hoping to find an honest and correct answer on how to treat our son, how serious is his condition, and if we need antibiotics. After knowing the facts, we realize that even if we didn't go to the hospital, our son's condition would have cleared up on his own. That being said, this was definitely not an ER care level 3 situation. We are asking that you please work with us and change the billing code to a level 5. Please put yourself in our shoes for a minute and realized that the fee the doctor and hospital is to high and is not fair when we were huddled together in a shared room for a while after going back and forth from waiting room to someone asking us same questions over and over and then waiting for someone to misdiagnose our son which wasn't even a doctor, only to find out a day and a half later that he would have been fine without antibiotics. Please truly consider our request and please give us a reasonable bill. We thank you so much for your time. read more

My brother was admitted here and had to have a procedure a couple of months ago. The staff was fine except I noticed that one employee brought her child to work with her. I don't have a problem with children but my brother was stressed and terrified of having a cardiac catheter. This didn't help the situation and seemed a little unprofessional. read more

I can build an EKG machine. I had a colleague that did this. They cost around $1000 if you buy one that's simple. I had an EKG at Clark and they charged me $2200. It took the nurse less than 5 minutes to do. The machine costs less than $2000... yet they charged me $2200. They gouge people anyway they can. That was just the tip of the iceburg, but due to my profession I was painfully aware of how much they overcharged. Overall everything was outrageous and the hospital was flat out poor. Nurses did not sanitize IV ports before injecting. Doctors came in for less than 5 minutes and billed me over $100 each time. A good number of the doctors were so kind to lie to my face. That and most were complete idiots. The absolute lack of transparency and refusal to post prices upfront makes this hospital a disreputable cesspool like most others. read more

We just delivered our son there about 2.5 months ago and we had a fantastic experience! The nurses were wonderful and caring. They were supportive and helped me to deliver vaginally. I pre-registered and I was able to go straight to delivery. Also, they have awesome food! The hamburger was my favorite. I sincerely cannot say enough good things about them! I will never visit this hospital for treatment again. As a jeffersonville native I have never had an issue with the billing department until now. I didn't have insurance so I was payment plans which I've made them online however the electronic department does not keep up with the paper records so I received not one but two medical bills saying my account was delinquent when really it was not. I never missed a payment. when I called the billing department they were unconcerned didn't care because it wasn't their credit they could possibly mess up. I was born in the hospital I visited a few times but I would never return. Customer service is awful. Any uninsured patients I will pray for you. I paid my last payment off and will have them close my account. read more

I had to have my appendix removed and while in the prep room prior to surgery, I used my cell to call my son. I also took a picture of myself with the surgery cap on. There was no one at the hospital with me so I had my purse on the bed with me prior to surgery. The prep lady and I was the only person in the room. I placed my cell phone in my purse and zipped it up for her to place in a locker and she assured me she would look after it. After surgery they placed my purse on the bed and began to wheel me back to my room. Before I even got to my room I was going to call my son and let him know I was alive and my cell phone was GONE. I had security come to my room to talk to me and they acted as if I was out of it due to the meds and had misplaced it. Not sure how I could have done that as I never left my bed and couldn't have if I had wanted to as I just came from surgery. All my contacts, pictures etc gone. You cannot replace pictures. And to think you place your life in these peoples hands. Scary. I had a very good experience up until that point but there is only one explanation. Never received an apology either. read more
