One of the best cruise liners I've vacationed with. I love the free style vibe, and laid back atmosphere. If you don't want get depressed up for dinner, then don't! Casual attire is acceptable on NCL. Restaurants on board are fantastic, price for cruise packages are unbeatable and friendly faces all around! So much to do and see while sailing on NCL.

I came here to attend the annual global sales conference meeting and was super excited to dig more into the company and brand. The CEO is friendly and very hands on and there is many new and exciting innovations and features coming to this company. Parking is easy to find and all facilities are spacious and clean.

I've been on four Norwegian cruises and experienced amazing hospitality, delicious poolside cocktails, great restaurants, and well laid out ships. Compared to Carnival, the buffet/main dining food is much better, tho Carnival provides more fun overall. I'd love for Norwegian to allow drinks in the pool. Norwegian is pretty hygienic. The 'washy washy happy happy' hand cleaning crew outside the buffet are literally heroes without capes. (Carnival may cost less but viruses make lame souvenirs.) The Gem, Pearl, and Jade are similarly laid out and easy to navigate. Rooms are typical cruise cabin size, balconies offer more space plus slider doors that don't slam shut (like they do on Carnival). I absolutely loved the Mojito bar and Brazilian steakhouse on the Gem!

My wife, Mary, and I recently sailed on the Norwegian Pearl for our highly anticipated honeymoon and wedding anniversary cruise, departing on July 5, 2026. This trip was incredibly important to us, as we were unable to go on a honeymoon immediately after our wedding. Because of the special nature of this milestone, we spent over $20,000 to book what we expected to be a beautiful suite in The Haven (Cabin 15500). Unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing due to a continuous series of cabin defects, service shortfalls, and constant disruptions. First, the suite fell far short of what was advertised: - Missing and Defective Amenities: The room lacked the Bose music system promised on your website. Worse, in the spot where the system was supposed to be, there were exposed, hanging wires. Additionally, several electrical outlets were non-functional, and we struggled with basic fixtures like the lamps. - Plumbing Failures: There was no cold water at the bathroom vanity sink; it ran hot only. The shower had a severe drainage issue, causing water to pool about an inch deep, and the drain itself was falling apart. Another drain under the vanity was completely unsecured. - Physical Deterioration: The tile grout was falling out, the caulk was badly cracked, and the suite's private hot tub was heavily stained with malfunctioning jets. In contrast, we observed that the public hot tubs by the main pool were clean, white, and in perfect working order every day. - Climate Control: The air conditioning repeatedly shut off, leaving the room uncomfortably hot and forcing us to wait for crew members to resolve the issue on multiple occasions. Due to these ongoing maintenance problems, our romantic getaway was severely interrupted for nearly five days by crew members and technicians entering and leaving our room to perform repairs. Furthermore, the broken shower drain created a hazardous environment, and both my wife and I nearly slipped and fell on multiple occasions. Beyond the cabin itself, we experienced significant service issues regarding The Haven's exclusive amenities. Upon boarding, we were not shown where any of the private areas were located. When we asked staff for directions to The Haven Lounge, the instructions we received were highly confusing. As a result, we did not even find the lounge until four days into our cruise. We believe a proper walk-through should be standard service for guests paying premium fares. Furthermore, we were told there would be a smoking section in The Haven area, but there was none, forcing us to leave the exclusive area. It felt as though guests who purchased standard, less expensive staterooms received fully functioning hot tubs and accessible smoking areas, while we did not receive the premium experience NCL advertised. Considering the significant financial investment we made for our double-celebration trip, this experience was unacceptable. I request a formal review of these matters and look forward to your response regarding how you intend to compensate us for these extensive failures. And not $1500 each either. and this is slap in the face.

Outstanding Service - Erica on Norwegian Bliss I don't normally take the time to write reviews, but in this case, it is absolutely necessary. My cruise on the Norwegian Bliss started off extremely rough. I was frustrated, disappointed, and honestly not having a good time at all. That completely changed the moment I met Erica at the service center. Erica single-handedly transformed my entire experience. From the very first interaction, she was kind, patient, professional, empathetic, and incredibly attentive. She didn't just "do her job" -- she genuinely cared. She listened carefully, understood every concern I had, and handled each issue with confidence and grace. She went above and beyond to resolve everything I needed, and she did it with a calm, reassuring presence that immediately put me at ease. Her attitude was warm, respectful, and uplifting. She has that rare ability to make you feel heard, valued, and important -- even in a busy, high-pressure environment. You could tell she takes pride in what she does. She represents Norwegian Cruise Line at the highest level. And beyond her professionalism, she carries herself with such positivity and poise. She truly lights up the room -- beautiful inside and out -- and her energy is contagious. She put a smile not only on my face, but on the faces of everyone around her. Erica is an absolute asset to the Norwegian Bliss. Employees like her are the reason guests come back. She deserves recognition from upper management, she deserves advancement, and she absolutely deserves a raise. Talent, dedication, and heart like that should never go unnoticed. Thank you, Erica, for turning my cruise around and reminding me what exceptional service looks like. You made a lasting impression, and I am incredibly grateful.

Norwegian Cruise Line has great specialty restaurants like Cagneys (steakhouse) Italian, French, Food Republic and so many more restaurants along with an all one can eat buffet. Garden Cafe has a daily change dinner menu: Roast Turkey with all the fixings, BBQ ribs, Roast Pork Loin, etc. Their breakfast would satisfy the pickiest eater in your crowd. Made to order omelets, yogurt, pancakes, cereal, brioche French toast, etc. The diet starts tomorrow lol. Cruises are fun as is the food one will experience with travel.
I don't even know where to start. I recently returned from a 10 day Alaskan cruise aboard Norwegian's *Joy*, where I had the incredible privilege of staying in The Haven. This was my very first Norwegian cruise, as well as my first experience in a VIP area on any cruise ship. Because of that, I can't compare The Haven to other cruise lines or even to the standard Norwegian experience. I can only share what my family and I experienced, and it was exceptional. The Haven staff didn't just provide excellent service. They created an atmosphere that made our vacation feel effortless, relaxing, and genuinely special. Our incredible butler, Madé, anticipated our needs before we even realized we had them. Godé, our room steward, kept our suite immaculate and always greeted us with warmth and kindness. In the Observation Lounge, Joshua and Mary consistently went above and beyond with their friendly personalities and outstanding service. Caesar, the concierge, is absolutely in the right profession. Dare I say he was born to do this job. His professionalism, warmth, and ability to make every guest feel important were remarkable. Carlos was another outstanding concierge who helped make our experience seamless. At The Haven Restaurant, Jennyvieve and Serona were wonderful hosts who always welcomed us with genuine smiles. Ida provided impeccable service with incredible attention to detail. Manmit, the sommelier, created a memorable wine pairing experience that my family is still talking about. The bar staff, Rodney, Elmer, Robi, Ari, and Ragesh, were consistently friendly, attentive, and made every visit enjoyable. Our dining experiences were made even more memorable by Catherine, Grace, Andrew, Tessa, Erona, and Amaresh. Every meal felt special because of their attentiveness, professionalism, and genuinely kind spirits. Outside of The Haven, we also had exceptional dining experiences at Le Bistro and Teppanyaki. The food was outstanding, but what truly elevated both restaurants was the exceptional service. Every member of the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for, reinforcing the high standard of hospitality we experienced throughout the ship. Although The Haven offers a unique experience, we also thoroughly enjoyed everything the ship had to offer. The entertainment was fantastic, the games were fun, and I especially loved the painting sessions. We also had a great time exploring the onboard shops. One of the jewelry stores hosted a daily giveaway, gifting a free charm each day, which was such a fun touch and something we looked forward to throughout the cruise. It's those little extras that make a vacation even more memorable. And I absolutely cannot end this review without mentioning the "Washy Washy" team. If you've sailed Norwegian, you know exactly who I'm talking about! Their energy, smiles, and enthusiasm welcomed us into the buffet every day, and they deserve far more recognition than they probably receive. They work incredibly hard and brought a little extra joy to everyone's day. At the end of the cruise, what I'll remember most isn't the luxury, the beautiful scenery, or even the incredible food. It will be the people. Every one of these crew members helped create memories my family will treasure for years to come. Thank you, Norwegian, and especially the amazing crew of *Joy*, for making our Alaskan adventure one we'll never forget. read more

Extremely disappointed with Norwegian Cruise Line--not only because of what happened onboard, but because of how difficult NCL makes it to report serious employee misconduct. The employee involved was Duvan Felipe Beltran Acevedo, Cruise Consultant in NCL's Sales Department. I was onboard as his guest. After Guest Services replaced my malfunctioning room key and specifically told me Duvan's card was still valid, I later came downstairs to let him into the room when he said he was locked out. After I let him in, he deliberately locked me out with my belongings inside. Security had to restore my access. He then locked me out a SECOND time, requiring another security call and roughly another 30-minute wait. While I was gathering my belongings to leave, he threatened to throw them into the hallway if I didn't turn the lights off. I felt unsafe enough that I stayed in a public area until disembarkation. Separately, on August 30, he used my card for a $42 transaction I did not authorize. I disputed it with Guest Services, yet I was still charged. Now I'm trying to formally escalate this and NCL does not provide an easily accessible HR phone number for guests to speak with someone about employee misconduct. Their online Guest Experience form also would not successfully submit my complaint. For a company this large, there should be a functioning, direct way to report serious safety concerns involving employees. I expect NCL to investigate Duvan Felipe Beltran Acevedo, review the security reports, surveillance, room-access records and unauthorized transaction, and provide me with a case number confirming this has actually been escalated. read more

I paid US$22,960 for 5 staterooms to enjoy NCL's "9 Baltic Ports Cruise" on the Norwegian Sun. The most important port was Stockholm and we missed it because of "propulsion-related mechanical problems" which resulted in the ship operating at a reduced speed. Three of our group of 9 had arranged reunions with their Swedish relations in Stockholm. No compensation was offered despite me writing a detailed letter and enclosing all the appropriate and relevant documentation. Very very poor customer service which resulted in all passengers being very upset. In addition, the ship was not kept clean, the cabins were often not cleaned properly and the food was substandard and the servings in the dining room were very small, and when we asked for an additional serving to the entree, we were told "no". Would I ever travel on NCL again? NO, NO, NO. I would too hard and paid good money for shoddy accomodations, food, and an itinerary that they did not honor. And on the return cruise I learned they cancelled multiple ports and gave the same reason...to me that is fraud, as NCL knew full well that they would be eliminating more ports of call yet did the next cruise anyway. Disgusting. read more

Found out 2 days before boarding the Norwegian Sky that this was the last voyage, the ship had been sold. 9 day Greek Isle voyage. Because of this there was no gift shop on board and the spa would be closing before the end of the voyage!! They canceled my specialty dinner reservations made before boarding and I had a next to impossible experience in trying to rebook. It seemed as though because this was the ships last voyage nobody really cared. Do yourself a favor and do not book on Norwegian Cruise Lines. Use Royal Caribbean instead. So much better in every aspect. I have been on numerous cruises and I will never sail on Norwegian Cruise Lines again. They have lost my business as well as my 10 traveling companions. Its ironic that they did not send an email out requesting any kind of review or feedback. That says it all - too many dissatisfied guests!!! read more

3.5 stars. Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is one of the largest cruise lines in the world in terms of number of cruise ships and passengers. Its ships sail to the Caribbean, North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. My husband and I have been customers of NCL a few times, including Hawaii in 2012, the Southern Caribbean in 2019, and Central America/etcetera in 2026. Overall, we have found that the employees are generally friendly and timely but that they make more mistakes than some other cruise lines' employees. We consider Norwegian to be in the "middle" in quality, higher than Carnival but lower than Celebrity. Our rooms were mostly in good condition, and the restaurants had mostly tasty foods. We did not like when NCL headquarters gave us only a 19% refund for a shore excursion that the tour operator shortened by many hours. In the future, we will instead sail with NCL's higher-quality competitors. read more

It sounds like you're preparing a formal complaint or review about your cruise experience. Here is a polished, professional rewrite that keeps your facts but improves clarity, tone, and impact. Revised Version (Professional Review / Complaint) I recently sailed on a 12-day Caribbean cruise aboard The Jewel. Because I have ongoing back issues, I decided to begin the cruise with acupuncture treatment, a service I had used successfully on prior cruises. Boarding was smooth, especially since we had upgraded accommodations. The cabin was excellent, and both the butler and room attendant provided outstanding service. My acupuncture session was performed by an Indian gentleman who began by asking to examine my tongue to diagnose my health. This was a new approach for me, but I was willing to proceed in hopes of relieving my back pain. After I explained my condition, he placed numerous needles across my back and connected them to a TENS device that delivered electrical impulses through the needles. The treatment lasted nearly an hour and was followed by stretching and massage performed by him. At the conclusion, he recommended five additional treatments. I agreed to continue but planned to evaluate how I felt after the first session. Later that evening, I returned to my room and attended dinner. However, the following day I developed significant back pain accompanied by a burning sensation. I attempted ice and rest without relief and eventually visited the ship's doctor. The doctor indicated the symptoms appeared nerve-related and suggested that I go to a hospital in Cartagena for an MRI. I declined at that time and was given muscle relaxers and Tylenol for pain management. Unfortunately, I spent the remainder of the cruise largely confined to bed due to ongoing pain, forcing us to cancel all planned excursions. Since returning home, I have remained under medical care for what has been diagnosed as nerve damage, which is currently being treated with injections in hopes of correcting the problem. Based on this experience, I strongly advise caution when considering acupuncture services on cruise ships. read more

Our family of eight just returned from a cruise on the Norwegian Getaway, and unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. Based on how this situation was handled, I would not recommend cruising with Norwegian. On embarkation day, one of our large suitcases--which contained all of my husband's clothing and many new items we had purchased specifically for the cruise--never arrived at our stateroom. We immediately reported it to Guest Services and continued following up every single day of our trip. Despite filing multiple reports, no one seemed genuinely concerned or offered a sincere apology. Instead, we were often made to feel as though the missing luggage was somehow our fault. To make matters worse, we received conflicting information throughout the cruise about what steps to take. We were told that Guest Relations would assist us once we disembarked, only to discover there was no Guest Relations office or representative available at the port. After finally reaching someone through Norwegian's customer service phone number, the experience only became more frustrating. We were told that if our luggage was eventually found, it would be shipped back to us at our expense. After Norwegian lost our luggage, expecting us to pay to have it returned is completely unacceptable. This was our family's first cruise, and instead of creating wonderful memories, we spent the entire vacation worrying about a suitcase that Norwegian lost and showed little urgency in locating. The lack of communication, accountability, empathy, and customer service was incredibly disappointing. To say we were dissatisfied is an understatement. Sadly, this was our first Norwegian cruise, and it will absolutely be our last. read more

Our recent cruise on the NCL Pearl was extremely disappointing. We booked a special cruise/land tour to celebrate our relationship after meeting on the NCL Joy, and we paid top dollar expecting a premium experience. Instead, our stateroom (SR 11634) was directly under La Cucina and the basketball court, resulting in nonstop noise all day and late into the night. Sleeping was difficult, relaxing was impossible, and the cabin was not enjoyable. Guest Services could not move us to a comparable room and offered only a $250 onboard credit, which didn't come close to addressing the disruption we endured. On top of that, the food quality was far below NCL's usual standards. We've been loyal to NCL, but this experience has us reconsidering future bookings. NCL needs to do better. read more

Our intergenerational family (ages 5 to 82) had an overall decent experience on the Norwegian Bliss in April, and the crew was fantastic. My feedback below is specific to signage at the buffet. On the morning of the last full day of the cruise, I noticed a sign at the buffet that read, "Tonight at the Buffet: Oriental Dinner." I mentioned to a team member that the term oriental is outdated and considered offensive, and suggested that they change the wording to "Asian cuisine" or "Asian buffet." The team member thanked me for letting her know, and said she will convey this feedback to a manager. At lunch, the sign was replaced with "Tonight at the buffet: Oriental Dinner - Whole Roasted Suckling Pig." I shared the same feedback to another team member, who also said she would share it with her manager. At dinner, the sign had not changed. To me, this was a relatively simple print job. I was very disappointed that the management at Norwegian chose to ignore this feedback, which perpetuated a word that has historically ostracized Asians and Asian Americans by characterizing them as foreign and exotic. In 2016, President Obama signed a bill that eliminated the terms "negro" and "oriental" from federal laws. Kat Chow also wrote a piece on NPR with additional context on the harmfulness of this term. I shared my experience on the Norwegian survey, including the 2016 federal law, and received the following response: Norwegian Cruise Line prides itself on being a diverse company. Our family of crew and guests is comprised of people of diverse cultural background, religious beliefs, sexual orientation and race. This is demonstrated by the demographic makeup of our corporation and does not, whatsoever, promote or approve of any discriminatory acts. Your observations were carefully noted and we assure you that we have not received similar complaints. However, you can be certain that a copy of your letter was also shared with our Fleet Operations department so they may be aware of your impressions and for internal review with the team onboard. To me, what Norwegian failed to understand is that it is in a position to eliminate language that is outdated, offensive, and fetishizes Asian cultures, and its leadership chose not to. That makes me wonder, what does it gain by continuing to use the language? Are more people more willing to return to a cruise that offers an "oriental" buffet instead of an Asian buffet? Thousands of people saw the sign that morning, including young children, and tens of thousands more have seen it on previous voyages of the Bliss, and still more will see the word on future voyages. Words matter, and Norwegian has a very public platform. My hope is for Norwegian to educate itself, as a company that "prides itself on a diverse company," on the impact of the language it chooses to use. read more
My husband and I went on Norwegian Cruise Line for our honeymoon and it was a HUGE mistake. I should have known right from the beginning that things were going to be bad. The line to get onto the ship went several blocks down the street when the indoor intake center went basically unused. Once onboard the Norwegian Pearl, the toilet in our room overflowed every day. Because of this, the front desk staff and I were on a first name basis. I have a hard time recommending a ship where your bathroom floor has sewage on it! The food may have been all you can eat but the quality was mediocre at best. Highlights were turkey night followed by ham night. The excursions were horrible and included being dropped off at a pawn shop for 30 minutes. The only bright spot was the entertainment. The comedian, acrobatic show, and musical acts were fairly good. Go on a newer and bigger ship. read more

I'm loyal to NCL. The fares are a bit more expensive than other ships, but they have a nicer, more laid back feel than the other "party line" boats. Theirs always a nice selection of food, from the free dining, to the decent buffet, to nice specialty dining. The boat we were on had a really good Asian restaurant for the speciality dining (we got a free meal voucher for being returning guests), and the food was fantastic! There were a lot of fun activities for our day at sea too! Plenty to do on our floating hotel! read more

We recently sailed with Norwegian Cruise Line, and this was easily one of the worst handled situations I've experienced with any travel company. During embarkation in New York, our luggage was dropped into the Hudson River. Not misplaced--dropped into the river. The damage was extensive, including clothing, personal items, leather goods, and baby-related supplies. Accidents can happen. What matters is how they're handled--and this is where everything fell apart. There was no urgency, no meaningful assistance, and no accountability from Guest Services. We were left to deal with the situation ourselves. At one point, we were reassured that recovered baby items had been cleaned and were safe to use. After relying on that guidance, our child developed a rash. This was reported onboard to a Guest Services Supervisor, yet we were later told there was "no record" of it. That alone should concern anyone traveling with family. Beyond this, the overall experience showed consistent operational issues--poor communication, lack of responsiveness, and a general sense that guest concerns were not taken seriously. After the cruise, we submitted a detailed claim with full documentation. Norwegian acknowledged the incident, but their resolution was to offer a 10% discount on a future cruise fare. That is not compensation. It requires spending more money with the same company and does not come close to addressing thousands of dollars in documented damage or the impact on our trip. At the end of the day, this wasn't just a bad experience--it was a failure in accountability. When something goes wrong at this level, you expect the company to step up and make it right. That did not happen here. read more

We had heard NCL had hidden prices. We booked a cruise and on the last page, the room was suddenly $500 more than what was advertised. First, we called our "personal cruise consultant" Harris three times, including hours he was supposed to be there. He never picked up or called us back. Then we called NCL directly. This new person gave us about three reasons, none of which applied to us. When she tried booking a hypothetical reservation on her own, it did the same thing to her. When it was clear she couldn't help us, suddenly she kept saying "are you there?" "I can't hear you." No surprise there. This is false advertising. read more

Long story short COVID era cruise was cancelled. I was offered a 25% additional future cruise credit. COVID went on for years longer than anticipated and I just wanted my ~$17,500 original cost back. I was told they could not consider without a current cruise being booked (STUPID policy) but I did it anyway. They didn't respond after additional requests for credit so I cancelled the cruise they required I book. They then said because I cancelled within 60 days they would not consider or refund the paid amount. I have been contacting them regularly for over 4 years. We cruise twice a year in higher class cabins but will not with NCL ever again unless this is fixed asap. A credit would be fine, but their 'policies' and greed to this point is completely unacceptable. read more

I recently sailed on the Norwegian Breakaway out of New York on March 6 and had a very concerning experience with the casino tracking system. During my trip, I accumulated over 13,000-14,000 casino points by mid-week and spent 10k plus gambling onboard (at that point). I personally checked my points at the time, so I know the activity was being tracked. However, after returning home and waiting several weeks, I received no casino offers or follow-up. When I contacted Norwegian Cruise Line, I was told that their system shows I had no casino play at all, which is completely inaccurate. I have since called multiple times and was told the issue would be investigated, but I have not received any updates or resolution. For a company of this size, this is extremely disappointing. Casino tracking is a core part of the guest experience, and when it fails, customers are left without the benefits they earned through significant spend. I am requesting a full audit of my casino activity from this sailing and a proper resolution. Until then, I would strongly caution others to carefully monitor their casino tracking while onboard. I hope Norwegian addresses this issue promptly and restores confidence in their system read more

So, just got back off of the Getaway. Here'sy review. Please remember, the only other cruise line I've been on is Carnival so that's what I'll be comparing it to... Likes: 1. Restaurant options were great, even if we hadn't had a specialty dining. 2. Rooms were roomy. 3. Not as many kids as previously traveled Cruise line. 4. More rules were followed (ie: no kids in some hot tubs), 5. easy to navigate ( maps on every floor east to read) 6. We paid for the thermal spa and it ended up being great! No kids, no packed hot tub. 7. Their private island was nice! Easy access and good food! 8. Photos were great! They did a really good job.(Other than forgetting to send us our welcome photo) Dislikes : 1. Although we had the FAS+, we couldn't even get buzzed because the liquor was short poured and filled with high fructose corn syrup syrups. (Not fruit juice) So we felt sick from that before the buzz 2. When we called ahead we were given misinformation a lot! 3. One of our excursions was cancelled and we werent told. We noticed it not on our app. They said they left us a message and a note and we didn't get either one. (We looked everywhere when we got back to the room to make sure we didn't miss it) 4. The app.. I like the app better at the previous cruise line because it was more user friendly and easy to read. 5. Shows were hard to get into unless you were really early. Show areas were small. There aren't many options of shows either. 6. The buffet wasn't very good. Again, liked the other cruise line better. 7. Kids that were there were on the casino floor late at night. 8. We did not receive our welcome photo with our lanyards and frame, nor did we get to choose one. Only received outo 12 we paid for. In conclusion, even though there were just as many positives as negatives, the negatives outweighs the positive because of how inconvenient they were. Will we cruise with Norwegian again? Maybe, if it's a different boat and a good price, but there are many things we would do differently! read more

Week cruise on the Encore. We stayed in a club balcony. Definitely recommend that over a regular balcony. Room was good size and bathroom was upgrade with a long shower and 4 jets. Water savers ruin everything shower was slow drip on the rain shower, Room attendant did a great job handling our daily things. This is my first cruise with Norwegian. Overall dining options were plenty but yet the same. Negative, no place to just pick up a snack if it's late night. They charge flat fee for room service. 4.95 breakfast and 9.99 thereafter. Starbucks coffee shop and water are not included in this beverage package. Tender to Great Stirrup Cay ran from 10am-1pm. Never seen a slower roll out of tendering. I stayed on the ship. Best specialty restaurant was Cagney Steak House. Bon voyage to any cruisers!! read more

Caution: Misleading Promotions and Inflexible Policies I am writing this to warn fellow travelers to be extremely cautious regarding the promotions and discounts offered by Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL). My experience has revealed a lack of transparency and a "policy-first, customer-last" approach that has made vacation planning a headache. The Timeline of Issues: - Initial Booking (March 1, 2026): I booked a cruise via an NCL sales representative (by calling their official number 1-866-234-7350). I was offered a $150 discount for "early booking." To process this, they split the charges on my card: one for $150 to activate the credit and another for the remaining balance. - The Hidden Terms: My reservation was well within the "fully refundable" window (before the April 24 deadline). However, when I called to cancel on March 27, I was informed for the first time that the $150 "coupon" portion was non-refundable. The original agent never disclosed this significant catch. - The Application Struggle (April 8): I attempted to apply that credit to a new trip for the week of May 24, 2026. I was told the credit was ineligible because the voyage was "too soon." Remarkably, they said it would be valid for a trip just one week later (May 31), but refused to bridge the seven-day gap to accommodate my existing plans with friends. - The Escalation: I spoke with a supervisor who spent a significant amount of time searching for the original call recordings to verify if the non-refundable terms were ever disclosed to me. They could not provide evidence that I was informed, yet still refused to offer any compensation or a manual override. And they also rejected my request to get my portion $150 back. My Takeaway: - Lack of Disclosure: Agents may offer "discounts" without explaining that they permanently lock away a portion of your money, even if you cancel within the official refundable window. - Zero Flexibility: The difference between an "eligible" and "ineligible" trip was a mere seven days, yet NCL showed no willingness to value a customer over a rigid, arbitrary date. - Cold Customer Service: Every interaction felt like being read a rulebook. There was no sense of "customer care" or effort to make up for their agent's failure to disclose terms. If you are looking for a company that values relationship-building and transparency, look elsewhere. Be very careful with any "deals" they offer over the phone--they come with hidden strings that even their supervisors won't untangle. read more

I had a concerning experience with the medical unit on my recent Norwegian Cruise Line trip that I feel needs to be shared. During my visit to the onboard medical unit, I hit my head while being repositioned, with staff present in the room. At the time, I was not feeling well and did report what happened. I left the medical unit still feeling unwell and returned the following day visibly unsteady. After returning home, I was evaluated by a medical provider and told I had a concussion. I requested my onboard medical records and was surprised to see that there was no documentation of a head injury or the incident. When I brought this to NCL's attention, I was informed that no head injury was reported or observed, and they denied responsibility based on the absence of documentation. From my perspective, this raises serious concerns about how incidents are documented and handled onboard. I trusted that what happened would be properly recorded and escalated, and only learned otherwise after reviewing my records myself. I attempted to resolve this directly with the company through multiple communications, but my concerns were ultimately dismissed. I am sharing this so others are aware and can make informed decisions. I hope NCL takes a closer look at their medical documentation practices moving forward. read more

I was supposed to celebrate my honeymoon, but a major snowstorm canceled my flight. I contacted Norwegian Cruise Line the moment I learned the news. I spent a good portion of the morning of my wedding day hoping they would show some flexibility in a situation completely outside my control. Instead, I was repeatedly told that because I hadn't purchased their insurance, "there is nothing we can do." No credit. No meaningful refund. No willingness to help. The only money returned was for prepaid gratuities and unused add‑ons--less than a quarter of what I paid. Even a request for a future cruise voucher was denied for the same reason: no insurance. It's disappointing to see a company prioritize rigid policy over basic customer care and sympathy. I lost my entire trip and a significant amount of money, and the cruise line offered nothing in return. A company of this size, one that claims to value its guests, should have policies that account for real‑world events like severe weather, not scripted responses and zero willingness to help. If you're considering booking with them, just understand: if anything goes wrong--even something completely unavoidable--you're on your own and out thousands of dollars. read more
PROS: We had naturalists presenting informative & fascinating programs about the animals, geology, biodiversity, history of exploration, ecology and adaption of ocean animals of Antarctica. Lodsome, our Steward took good care of us. He made all of the repairs to 9190, from fixing the TV, sink drain, air conditioner, noisy door, and getting repaired all the things that kept falling off the walls... Alvino and some of the staff in Aqua and the Versailles got our meal orders correct. We enjoyed the ports in Argentina, Chile, and the Falkland Islands. The excursions were expensive, but we did get to do what we expected. We did enjoy some of the performances, White Magic, the acrobats, The Buenos Aires tango performer, and even then not so newlywed game. Elizabeth and her staff were perky. CONS: We took the Norwegian Star to Antarctica. we purchased the cruise on October 6 and the following day the price dropped $1000 per person. We reached out to NCL and our travel agent to adjust and we were told that nothing could be done. We were directed to speak to Manny Kampanakis, General Manager, once we board & he will take care of us. He was not willing to compensate us in any way. Manny even commented to hundreds of people, waiting for tenders to get back on the ship, "thank you for waiting. Not that you had any choice." We purchased an Antarctica cruise. Once we got on the ship, we saw a different itinerary. We felt that we were scammed. We did not get what we paid for. We lost a day in Antarctica and time at most ports. Yes, our contract says that they could change the itinerary and this does happen with challenging weather. However, the weather was excellent, and NCL appears to be abusing this provision. There were lines that were the length of the ship, with cruisers waiting hours to get tender tickets, and then again to get off the ship. The Wi-Fi was $550 per person and did not work most of the time. The price was eventually reduced after complaints. There was always a line in the Internet, Cafe with people complaining that they were unable to access. Cruise next harassed us daily with papers & phone calls. They tried to get us to spend money towards 8 future cruises. They marked their phone messages urgent and we were unable to erase them or stop them midway. Port information nor maps were provided in advance. Decorations & meals did not represent the ports we visited. The quality of the food was disappointing. Although we were in the ocean, there was no fresh seafood, it was frozen and microwaved. In the dining rooms, most of the food we were served was prepared in advance and microwaved. Milk & eggs were powdered. The towels are small and thin, no robes nor slippers and the toiletries are watered down cleaning products. We bring our own robes, slippers, shampoos, conditioners, and even bars of soap. Cabin 9190 was pretty banged up and the door was taped together. Things kept falling off the walls and our room attendant kept requesting repairs. There is no turn down service, our steward was responsible for 34 rooms. The sign on the Stardust theater told people not to come in after the show starts. However, there was a steady stream of people, continuously walking in loudly, stumbling in the dark, and interrupting performers. The fitness center is the hottest room on the ship. There was no cool air nor fans. Super Bowl Sunday was without the Super Bowl. The television is filled with a cruise next station, a ship shopping station, an excursion station. read more

1. "More At Sea" Beverage Package - 7/25 On day1 , my husband wanted to purchase the MAS drink package. However, I cannot consume alcohol due to medical reasons. Staff advised me to provide medical documentation for review. I immediately contacted my pharmacy (as doctors were closed for the weekend) and sent the necessary documentation to both Guest Services and the bar manager. Proof attached. The bar manager initially approved us to purchase only one MAS package. Despite this, my onboard account continued being charged for drinks. When we asked Guest Services around 4pm, they blamed a "system error." Less than 30 minutes later, the bar manager called our stateroom to say the package was being revoked until a ship doctor reviewed my medications and I provided an additional note from my personal physician. I explained that I would need an in-person visit for that, which couldn't happen until after the cruise. She told us to wait for a team review, but to this day (our last onboard), no one has followed up. 2. "Deal or No Deal" Prize Redemption - 8/2 @ 1:00pm We purchased 6 tickets and played the "Deal or No Deal" game. After the show, staff told us to visit Guest Services to redeem our prize. There, we were directed to the casino, which rejected us. Back at Guest Services, staff checked again and asked us to wait. At this point it was 2:25pm, and we had a 2:30pm activity reservation. I asked about the deadline and was told we could redeem before "tomorrow night." That evening, we returned -- only to be told we missed the deadline and redemption was only valid during the 3:30pm bingo session. When we pushed the issue, a supervisor told us we could still redeem the prize, but after another long wait, no solution was offered. We were told to try again at the casino the next morning -- which would be closed since we'd be in Canada. We were passed from one department to another with no accountability or clarity. 3. Stateroom Confusion - Room #12689 Upon arrival, we found someone else's excursion tickets and personal documents in our room, under the names Cehanovich Margaret and Wagner Charleen. We reported this to a staff member on our floor, who told us that Room #12689 was assigned to a family of four and not to us -- implying a double booking. We immediately went to Guest Services to report this. The staff looked confused, offered no explanation, and simply asked us to return the other guests' documents. We returned to our room, but throughout the entire cruise, we kept receiving their luggage tags, mail, and letters -- including as recently as today (Day 9). This raises serious privacy and security concerns. read more

Extremely Disappointing Experience on Norwegian Sun 13-Day Asia Cruise - Will Not Sail NCL Again We recently completed a 13-day Asia cruise aboard Norwegian Sun departing from Singapore. Unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing and has led us to permanently stop sailing with Norwegian Cruise Line. The most significant issue occurred the night before our scheduled two-day stop in Phu My, Vietnam (serving Ho Chi Minh City). At approximately 9:00 PM, the captain announced that the port authority would not accommodate our ship for the planned stay. There was no weather event, no emergency, and no apparent external disruption only a statement that the port "could not accommodate" us. This decision prevented us from visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels, one of the excursions we had been most excited to experience. When we approached Guest Services and the senior officers present to ask basic questions such as whether the ship would be rerouted to another Vietnamese port, what alternative port arrangements were being made, and what shore excursion options would be available we received no meaningful answers or information. This lack of clarity from the senior leadership team responsible for navigation and passenger safety was concerning. We also attempted to contact our independently booked tour operator (through GetYourGuide) to cancel the next day's excursion and request a refund, so they would not wait unnecessarily at the port. Because we were at sea and had not purchased NCL's expensive Wi-Fi package, we asked to use or extend the complimentary 30-minute Wi-Fi offered to every passenger. We were told the free session had "expired" (despite never being used) and were denied any complimentary or paid Wi-Fi access even for the legitimate purpose of resolving a major itinerary disruption caused by the cruise line. No alternative communication assistance was offered. Throughout the cruise, there was no gesture of goodwill for missing two full days in port no complimentary specialty dining, beverage credit, onboard credit, future cruise voucher, or even a simple apology. This complete lack of recognition or compensation for a significant disruption reinforced our perception that Norwegian Cruise Line places little value on passenger experience or loyalty. As a direct result, we made the decision not to spend any additional money onboard. We removed all daily gratuities, canceled remaining specialty dining reservations and NCL excursions, declined all casino, bingo, retail, and bar purchases (including the overpriced beverage packages), and booked independent tours instead. We estimate this choice saved us approximately $2,400 compared to our original spending plans. Other service issues further diminished the experience: - Mediocre food quality and outdated ship condition (vessel appears to be a hand-me-down from other fleets with visible wear and inconsistent maintenance) - Staff unwillingness to prepare blended cocktails clearly listed on menus (despite visible blenders) - Room not serviced during extended "make up room" periods As seasoned travelers who have visited 53 countries, completed more than 25 cruises, and reached all seven continents including an expedition-style landing in Antarctica we have high expectations for service, safety, and value. Norwegian Sun fell far short in every category. We will never sail with Norwegian Cruise Line again and have already returned to Royal Caribbean, a brand that consistently invests in newer ships, better food, superior entertainment, and genuine customer care. We will share our honest experience with our large travel blog and social media following, family, friends, travel communities, review platforms, and complaint boards in the hope of helping other travelers make more informed decisions. read more

They practice the bait and switch where they charge you for a package and then they eliminate a portion of it and demand you buy ANOTHER package for even more money just to cover one day. They refuse to honor the contract originally made. When a cruise is book a year in advance your original contract should be honored. They managed to screw over hundreds of passengers and refuse to even provide a discount for that one day they removed. This is called a breach of contract and I believe ANYONE who got screwed with their More at Sea package should join in on a class action law suit. read more

We had booked an Kuza Beach excursion that included zip line and kyacking in a lagoon (per picture). The zip line was canceled and we were not given enough time to reschedule ( received on day of embankment with lots of other pw, I did not see it until 24 hours later and then it was too late to cancel. the beach was beautiful but we are not beach lizards and like more active trips. we were asking for a partial refund or credit towards another zip line. Wifey and I have now been on 18 cruises after our latest cruise with Norwegian Cruise Line. This was our very first time cruising with NCL. I've always wanted to try cruising with them because I wanted to experience the NCL way. Well, this first experience with NCL was not a good one. I was tempted to only give them 1 star, but I gave them 2 stars because of the fantastic itinerary we had with them. 5 stars for the itinerary alone which started in Singapore and had stops in Malaysia, Brunei, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, and Taiwan!! Truly a 5+ Stars itinerary!!!! Why don't I like NCL? As I mentioned earlier, we've now been on a total of 18 cruises. So we've been used to everything going smoothly from start to finish based on our experiences with other cruise lines. I cannot help compare this NCL experience to the other cruise lines. Even before the cruise started, there were issues. We tried several times to get ahold of a person on the phone to answer our questions, but could not get in contact with a live person until the fourth phone call. When we finally did, the employee did not even know the answers to our questions. Sheesh!! Embarkation in Singapore for NCL was a hassle. They were so slow and inefficient. RCCL was at the port at the same time as NCL. The passengers for RCCL got through their embarkation about two to three hours quicker than we did. Disembarkation was worst. Once we got off the ship, it was such a hassle. There were hardly any NCL representatives around to answer passengers questions. Very unprofessional. So many folks were lost and confused with the process. Never experienced such an awful embarkation and disembarkation ever before. I'll do a separate review for the Norwegian Sky ship we sailed on. Would we ever sail with Norwegian Cruise Lines again? Maybe. There were plenty of passengers signing up for future cruises with them. So they do have many repeat customers. Chances are they will have other itineraries that we just cannot resist. So, we would give them another chance. read more

Terrible customer service, rude, act like you are annoying them when you call and they have a take it or leave it attitude. Tabitha, a supervisor very rude, does not care about your particular issue regarding disabled needs nor did she even remotely try to find a solution, just tried to up sell me to a much higher priced cabin which is out of the question. After being a loyal customer for many, many years could not be more disappointed in this level of customer service. Have had some wonderful cruises with them but they have changed tremendously and it is not good.. read more
Norwegian did it again. Wonderful vacation, food options, service, ports, and great company! Parking is a breeze with the parking garage right next door to the terminal. It's $22 a day and from start to finish we paid $154 for parking. Plenty of spaces to park in especially if you go higher up in the parking garage. Elevators aren't air conditioned though only down side. When you come on down to the luggage area, you're able to drop your luggage with a porter (don't forget to tip! These guys and gals work super hard!). From there you enter into the building and follow the signs up to the cruise check in. Be prepared they do scan your bags like they do in TSA, but they're much nicer than TSA. Once through security you check in to receive your badge and take a photo. Next is the gangway to the ship and photos! From there we were directed to our mustard station and then set free to explore, eat, and drink! Rooms weren't ready until closer to three. We were delayed due to medical issues for someone and left closer to six. Drinks on board were exquisite and most were under the $15 price for the "free at sea" promotion. Don't forget to try a bushwhacker if you like chocolately drinks! From top to bottom, the Encore is a beautiful ship that is well maintained and exquisitely decorated. The room was still spacious enough to have 4 people within and fit 4 people on balcony! Plenty of dining options to choose from and anything we were quoted for timing for dinner was longer than it was in reality! We'd be told it'd be 40 minutes until a seat opened up, but go to the bar and all of a sudden you'd be called! Service was on point for the most part (some nights were better than others). The racetrack and water slides were a blast! The racetrack while cruising was soooo cool! Would 10/10 recommend the Encore to anyone looking for an exquisite cruise! Choir of men was so much better than I thought it was going to be we ended up seeing it twice. The DJ was great but having only one DJ on board seems to limit the events held. However, the club at night was fun and great to hang out at. Going to the Local after the club was a blast to order finger foods to soak up all the alcohol. Overall it is a wonderful trip which I would highly recommend to anyone to try out! read more

PHOTOGRAPHERS and PEOPLE OF COLOR BEWARE! I spent 7 days on the Getaway for Christmas and will never go on another cruise ever again. I've never been on a cruise before so i was pretty excited and did not even consider that I would have to deal with such extreme and blatant racism and stereotyping while on the ship and in the ports. I first noticed the race issue while we were going through security. I was going on the trip with my white grandmother, mother, aunt, uncle and my black fiancee. I'm mixed race and it's obvious. I also have a lot of tattoos that were visible because it was hot in Miami on that day. Please note: I'm a photographer and travel with my camera and film often. The TSA is always kind and accommodating when I request a film hand search since film over 800iso or old polaroid film can be ruined by the xray machines. I spent $100 on polaroid film specifically for this trip and flew from WA to Florida with no problems. Then while we're going through security to get onto the ship, I requested a hand search of my film and was met with an attitude by the security woman. She proceeded to yell at me about having too much film while my fiancee and I waited, then after sqeezing all my delicate film, she ordered me to open all of the individually sealed film packets to make sure I wasn't hiding any drugs. Why does a cruise line need to open my film when the TSA doesn't even need to?! She RUINED ALL $100 WORTH OF MY FILM FOR THE TRIP. The film was clouded irreparably. Then she acted disappointed when she didnt find any drugs and threw the open film packets at me and walked away. Then while I was standing in line to check in I watched that same security woman hand search film for a white man and never ask him to open the film. I cried after this while waiting in line to check in and none of the NCL staff took notice or they just didn't care. Also, everyone who was boarding the ship was white other than my fiancee and I, and one black family. BUT almost everyone who worked on the ship was a person of color. Only the security and the receptionists and the performers were white. We also got dirty looks from so many people traveling on the ship. I could feel the hate emanating from them just by being in the same elevator. It was like they were mad because we were on vacation and not working on the ship. NCL and their patrons are a bunch of stuck up racist pricks if you ask me. The receptionists at the guest help desk were extremely rude to us as well. I went to ask if they had any money from the Islands that people could take as souvenirs and he gave me the nastiest look and said no and then told me to "make sure you dont exchange any money on the islands or buy anything from the locals" Well OK but you didnt have to be so rude about it. They encourage people to not even leave the ports and advertise the areas as "dangerous" so they can scam more money out of people. Also, the surprise $13/day person fee is pretty screwed up. Why cant they just include that in the cost of the ticket? Then one day when I went back to my room to get my camera, I saw the door was wide open and there was no one around and my $900 camera was just hanging by the door for anyone who walked by to steal. The maid was 10 rooms down and did not even notice when I went into my room. There were screaming children everywhere on the ship and you could not find a relaxing place to be without spending hundreds in their spa. They didnt even have kid free bars. The food was mediocre, they have no vegetarian or vegan options other than plain fruit or vegetables. Also, the buffet style food was terrifying simply because so many children were running around unsupervised and they would grab food items with their bare hands then put them back and choose another. Security also harassed us simply for being people of color. We were sitting on the deck with three other guests around 1am outside a bar area. Just sitting and talking, the other guests were all white. We were not being loud or doing anything other than sitting and talking. Then a white male security guard walks up to us and demands that my fiancee give him his name and room number immediately. He singled out my finacee specifically and did not adress the other guest when he asked why. When my finacee asked why, the security did not answer him and demanded repeatedly "give me your room number" and when my finacee said no, because the security would not tell us why he needed it. he proceeded to talk to someone on his radio. He then showed us a blurry photo of a white man with a beard and asked if we had seen him. We all said no and he just walked away. No explanation, nothing. He simply picked my fiancee out of the group to harass. He didn't even resemble the man in the photo at all. Any POC should seriously reconsider before booking a trip with NCL. Could racism ruin your vacation like it did mine? read more

Norwegian Bliss Mexican Riviera: PV, Mazatlan, Cabo March 2026 We purchased the internet package, only to discover it was minimal wifi (3g) and we couldn't text. They wanted an additional charge per day to allow texts ($6?) Checking in was a nightmare. First line up for guest services to register and get a key card. Then line up for onboard credit. Then line up for Internet cafe where we relented and paid an addition $244 so we could get the internet. Had to go to my Verizon carrier and pay a one time fee of $20 so that I could text. Next, we went to the buffet for lunch. Food was cold, staff was rude, soda machines were down. Very underwhelming. Finally after nearly 4 hours on board, they said we could go to our cabins. Out of 6 of us traveling, 2 of us had luggage. Our cabin was fairly clean but the duvet coverlet was stained and there was hair in the sink. We went to dinner at 5:30 and couldn't get into the Manhattan Club because it was full. 2 hour wait. Every single night. Went to Taste instead. It was SO noisy. We got water and menus and then waited 20 minutes for our order to be taken. We'd been there 50 minutes by the time our food came. It was cold and tasteless. After trying to get drinks and then dessert, we spent three hours at Taste and missed the comedy show. Went to bed. No top sheet on the bed. Flat sheet and dirty coverlet only. Not even a mattress pad. Then two excruciating days at sea. No seats at the pool. Anywhere. People were out at day break reserving dozens of lounge chairs. Same thing in the Observation Lounge. When we ported in Puerto Vallarta, our ship excursion was terrible. We spent SO much time on the bus. The tequila tasting was a sales event pushing people to buy. The shopping was one silver shop and we had to stay in a small crowded courtyard area. The tiles/pottery stop was good but we only had 25 minutes. We stopped for lunch, got our meal voucher and the food was ok but not authentic at all. A couple of us ordered margaritas served in a hand-painted terra cottage jug. We headed back to the ship. I got sick and had a raging headache. We were given the terra cotta jug as souvenirs. After getting it home and washing it out, it crumbled. Turns out it was unsealed and unglazed and I had suffered some minor lead poisoning. This was the cruise designated restaurant. Our shower overflowed because the drain was clogged. They never came to fix it so we had to stop the water halfway through our showers to let the shower pan drain. The bathroom was cleaned every day but not once were the counters in the stateroom wiped down. The flat sheet was not tucked in and rode up every night. I left the coverlet all the way down on the bed when we left and it wasn't even tucked back in. The coverlet was just pulled up as if the bed had been made. They refused to allow more than two towels, two wash clothes and two hand towels per day, per cabin. I couldn't get a second sheet. We were hounded at the shops almost as bad as the Mexican vendors in port. Prices were really high! We tried to go to the photo gallery to see pics that we had posed for. They were unable to access them even though we signed up on our phones. We couldn't have purchased any even if we wanted to. We tried to sign up for transportation on Friday to be taken to LAX on Sun. They didn't have any reservations left. We had been in port when they opened reservations. That was Cabo. We had to be ready to get on the Tender at 6:45am. Last tender back was 1pm. only had time for the glass blowing and a super rushed lunch. They wouldn't let me schedule luggage pickup before 9 because I was not a Haven or Latitudes member. I had to haul my two pieces of luggage, one very large, down to disembark on my own. They constantly screwed up our charges between my and the friend I shared my cabin with. We had to go to guest services daily to get them to fix yet another unexplained charge. I have been on cruises with Royal Carribben, Celebrity, MSC and Carnival. I thought Carnival was the armpit of the cruising world. I was wrong. It's Norwegian. And for my trouble, I ended up paying almost $800 for add on charges. Daily service fee, taxes on drinks although I had unlimited beverage package, and a huge overcharge at the spa. Still fighting to get that removed. Also, if you want bottled water...that's extra. It does not come with the soda or unlimited drinks package. What a ridiculous company with idiotic policies. This cruise ended up costing more than any other cruise I have ever been on and was one of the worst weeks of my life. NEVER, EVER, EVER AGAIN. I would take my chances on the Titanic before I ever step foot on another NCL ship. read more

I have cruised with Norwegian at least four times before.......and I simply loved it.......argued with others about how it was the best. I just came off the Norwegian Breakaway....2 day trip. I was so excited to see this 2 day trip available since it has become difficult to leave for more than a couple of days.......I immediately booked for two.....the price was high but it was Norwegan and I needed a break. I talked two more friends into coming at 199.00.....so ultimately we each paid 465.00 insurance included. A few weeks later, while browsing the Internet, I noticed the trip was reduced, in my cabin category, which was just a window view, by over 50 percent......had I seen it one day earlier, I could have cancelled the entire trip....rebooked with a double upgrade, and still got $50.00 back So, I called Norwegian very upset that I was being penalized for booking early, being a faithful cruiser, and paying right away. After a long discussion they offered to upgrade me to a so called mini suite......had I booked the mini suite NOW, it would still be cheaper than the 476.00 we each paid....it would be maybe $320.00. So, I asked for some onboard credit, a comp show........something......Absolutely not.....it's one or the other Now we are on the ship with 4 people in a so called mini suite.....2 twin beds....I skinny couch.....and a pull from the ceiling bed. We are not kids, we range in age from 35 to 60.....so no one was going to sleep on the pull from the ceiling bed.....2 slept in a twin....onw, with a prosthetic leg took a twin bed and i slept on the couch with this bed over my head. There was no way two people could walk at the same time to the balcony.....that's how slim this mini suite was. The bathroom was quite large and the shower was wonderful......but the toilet......disgraceful......it wouldn't flush. We called housekeeping (keep in mind nobody answers any of the lines on this ship....you could be dying and it would ring....ring.....ring...)and finally someone came to show us how to flush....he said you must push dead center of this rectangular white piece. I said why not put a circle on it so people would know that........anyway, it still rarely worked.....we pushed that thing.....but it rarely worked. So, what did I resort to...leave my room, go left 15 cabins, walk down the stairs to deck 8 and use the public bathroom......I did that for the whole trip....even in the middle of the night....great vacation memory. Public bathrooms....use the bathroom, stand up, put the top down, open the door and if the sensor works properly your toilet will flush.....there is no emergency button to help that along if the sensor fails.....poor next person who lifts top up and finds a gift.....who invented this? I prayed to hear that flush..... Then, there are the lights......no one leaves a note telling you to put them on you must put your room key in an opening......we stayed in the dark until someone finally showed us. Ultimately, we figured a way to stick paper in the hole to keep lights on Next, we go to reserve a couple of the paid restaurants and Norwegian has become greedy.....there are more paid restaurants on this ship than free ones......they are all booked......the shows are all booked......when we booked no one told us to book them in advance.......and on previous cruises the shows needed no reservations.....duh. Each time we complained we were met with attitude.....one woman at the front desk said oh well many people will be complaining. Gee, thanks for the empathy Norwegian employee. There was one. Manager who ultimately booked us one free show and one paid. Anything worth doing on this ship is paid......the ice bar was a paid experience......but one that was worth it. Oh.....no room service on 2 night cruises! Why.....we paid enough for it.....in fact we paid more per day than most 7 day cruises. Well......good-bye Norwegian.......guess it's time to move on, while your reputation sinks. I did not hear one happy cruiser on this trip.....so sad I finally spoke to someone who booked us into one paid show and one free show.....lots of paid stuff with Norwegian. read more

I've cruised with Princess, Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Norwegian. This was my first time on Norwegian. We went on a 4 day cruise from Miami to Bahamas on the Norwegian Sky. The staff and crew is polite but they are not nearly as friendly or outgoing as other cruise lines. On other cruise lines we have always had crew members that were memorable and made an impression on us. That did not happen on this cruise. On Dec 25 my daughter went to guest services and asked if they would page me because she became separated from us and we had her phone in our bag. She said the rep chuckled and said I don't know what you want me to do about it, I can't call your mom. She asked if he could use the phone to call me and he said no and turned away. She then asked if he could look in the computer to see if I had disembarked. He reluctantly did that and said no your mom has not disembarked. She asked again if he could page me and he said no and said I don't know what you want me to do. How about using your email to send a text to mom's phone to say your daughter is in your guest room. You can google a phone number and it will tell you who their carrier is. Once you know that you can use your email to send a text to that phone. For $3,000 that I spent on this cruise and he can't even send a text or page. That's why I will never cruise with Norwegian again. And I take two cruises a year and I am only 45 so have many years of cruising ahead of me. The first day of our cruise we were not able to come to port in Great Stirrup Cay because of 25 knot winds and 11' swells. The ship refunded all of our excursion costs. We were out at sea that entire day. I got sea sick and this ship does not sell Dramamine anywhere. My daughters looked and asked in every shop. The sky is their second smallest ship so I'm not sure if that was why we got sick but two of the three of us were in bed for two days. Also if you cruise on Norwegian sky do not stay on deck 6a. When the ship comes to port that area gets very loud and you won't be able to sleep. There is only one outlet in each stateroom and it is at the desk. The only outlet in the bathroom is the European two prong type. We did an excursion to Blue Lagoon Island and that was DEFINITELY worth it. It's a private island that has water trampolines, noodles, tubes, plenty of lawn chairs in the sand, a huge bar, and a cafeteria where they serve lunch. We were there on Christmas Day and they had ham, turkey, hot dogs, hamburgers, Bahamian rice, mashed potatoes, plantains, lemonade, and fruit juice. There was a sandy grassy side of the island that you could walk over to as well. There were catamarans leaving every hour so people could go back to their ship any time they wanted. The people working on the island were very friendly and much more friendly than those on our ship. And that's the only reason I gave them 3 stars. The food was definitely not as good on this cruise as it was on Princess or Royal. The buffet did not have many choices. read more

I travelled with a group of friends and family on the EPIC, from December 3rd-10th, 2011. I was a first time cruiser with many of group veterans of smaller most expensive cruises. All agreed the Epic was well-appointed. I stayed on the 14th floor -- the spa floor. The room had a balcony. Here are my thoughts: THE SHIP--looks too big to float but in actuality wasn't too big to feel comfortable. Public areas are open and airy so there is never a closed in feeling. Restaurant selections are terrific. Eating healthy was easy given all the selection of menus and restaurants. Everything was clean, and hand sanitizer was in abundance. For example, all elevators have dispensers, and crew are in every eatery to spray your hands before meals. My room was spacious and quite comfy. The bathroom toilet made a ton of noise like those on the airplane. Bathroom song too small however. Tons of space, the room is quite well-planned for storing items. SAFETY- crew takes the issue very seriously. My room had 3 life jackets!! Television plays safety information all the time on a set channel. Drill was held prior to leaving port. STUFF TO DO: Free style cruising is the best!! You can make reservations for events like Blue Man Group or Second City or you can just chill. I loved not having to dress up for dinner. I personally have no interest in doing that on vacation. I have to that at home. There are vents like wine tastings if you are so inclined, art auctions and of course great band music in various locations. During the day the pool area had great island music, and at night it continued in one of the top of the ship bars. The spa is a full service spa, featuring wonderful saunas, hot pools etc. the best part- you can just relax and do nothingnif you want !! IMPROVING : get better ship souvenirs. Seriously. I wanted to take home a great sweatshirt but there was little selection and none with a good embroidered design. Sweatshirts with the swirled logo on the ship would be great. Put soft drink machines in the restaurants so severs don't have to out to bar areas to get soft drinks for patrons. This was a problem in a couple of places we ate, the bar area was a walk from where we were and I started feeling bad about asking for refills during dinner. If the server is off the floor the restaurant is less efficient. In light of the recent ship accident I feel compelled to say I felt like safety was a priority on the EPIC. I know we will all learn something from that accident and if it brings changes in safety then ok. Maybe bigger signage-- with alternate routes marked? Who knows. As passengers we too bear responsibility for our safety and we should pay attention during the drill, review the information provided, know where exits are and not presume the ship has to do it all. Human error will always be with us. Would I sail again-- and on the Epic? ABSOLUTELY. read more

Subject: Our Concerning Experience with being racially profiled on the Norwegian Joy - October 28th-Nov 4th. Dear Norwegian Cruise Line, I am writing to share our deeply disconcerting experience when boarding the Norwegian Joy on October 28th. While we hope for a positive resolution, I must express my deep disappointment in the way our group, originating from Afghanistan and following Islamic customs, was treated. The incident left us feeling unsettled, and I believe it is important to address the issues we encountered without resorting to threats. Our discomfort did not stem from genuine concerns for safety, which we understand are paramount, but rather from the lack of transparency and the unsettling nature of the interactions we had with your staff. We were called via the intercom to Guest Services, in front of other guests enjoying their lunch, which made us feel singled out and uncomfortable. What transpired after we arrived only added to our unease. Upon reaching Guest Services, we were initially informed that our stateroom was ready, only to be led off the ship into a facility referred to as the "holding room." In this room, all of us were required to surrender our phones and recording devices, and we were subjected to multiple inquiries about our professions and other misc questions that were not pertinent to the situation in any way. When we asked for clarification, we were met with evasive responses. It was only when I disclosed that I own and operate dealerships that the intense scrutiny seemed to subside. All of us are American citizens with unblemished records, a fact that Norwegian Cruise Line could have easily verified with the comprehensive roster and itinerary that existed prior to our boarding. We strongly believe that any concerns related to our group could have been addressed before we boarded the ship, thus avoiding the uncomfortable and humiliating experience we endured. It felt like racial profiling from the outset, and this made us feel like potential threats. This, in turn, led to discomfort throughout the cruise, as fellow passengers seemed to recognize our group from the first day when we were accompanied by security and border patrol personnel. Our expectation when choosing Norwegian Cruise Line was one of inclusivity, warmth, and hospitality. We sincerely hope that this experience is an anomaly and not reflective of the values and principles that Norwegian Cruise Line upholds. We strongly encourage you to review your protocols and staff training to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future and that all passengers, regardless of their background, are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. We anticipate a constructive resolution to this matter and trust that Norwegian Cruise Line will get back to us in a timely manner regarding this matter. Sincerely, Fawad Osmani read more

The alaskan norwegian cruise my family just took was the worst vacation of my life. My parents were not allowed on the ship due to my father failing a Covid test presumably for a cruise he had been on the week before. We were supposed to share a suite with them along our connected club room. We went down to try to resolve this right away by moving my brothers into it (willing to pay for it and all) and they said they would but they needed time. We came back an hour and half later and biding process had gone through. The red head lead guest services lady said there's nothing we could do and laughed at me. So we lost that room and my brothers were upgraded instead to a room far from us. So my family was stuck in a tiny cabin for the duration of the trip with 7 bags of luggage . Every option I tried no one seemed to care. Guest services laughed about it when I complained them. I tried to see if house keeping could store some bags In lower storage decks and was told no on that. All I wanted was a place to let my kids be able to play while we were in the cabin. This ship also was advertised as family friend but talking with other families we all really struggled. What made me the most angry was my son who turns 5 shortly and wanted to spend time in splash academy couldn't because he wasn't officially 5 for 18 more days even if we supervised. There was another kid Bentley in the ship that had the same situation. So we would watch 10 counselors do almost nothing with the one girl while other parents tried desperately to find things to do. I eventually colored with my kids in front of splash academy because there was no place to go and my wife was having sea sickness (see Attached photo). At several points I had my kids using spinmaker lounge as a gymnasium and playing on steps when it was raining and cold out. The best actively we could do was hot tub when it was warm enough and you cant do that long with kids. So we would let them play in the shower for 2 hours just to kill time. The bright side was they finally opened up the gumpey room the last two days (which was only for 6 months to 3 years but since they wouldnt do anything for 4 year olds they both went). I believe they only did this because they got nervous when my 3 year old almost got blown off the deck by the basketball court throwing a ball around to kill time. Overall it was very hard and annoying being a parent on the ship. Staff would say hi to them but that's where kindness stopped. I couldn't even get drink lids on my kids cups for them while my brother was able to get beer cans. Staff needs to be able to be proactive for families or you will lose family reunions market where grandparents are trying to create lasting memories. read more

NCL is not only unresponsive but DANGEROUS. Pregnant women BE WARNED!!! The following is the message I have been posting on their FB wall. They do not respond to any of my messages or e-mails, and they delete this message when I post it. People need to be aware of what kind of business NCL is. DEAR NCL CRUISE LINES: I was promised a response to my complaint within three months. It has now been over a year and I still have yet to hear back. I have e-mailed you all over and over and over. The first half of my complaint was "resolved" with cruise credits which are now expired since I told you all that I would NOT use them and I would NOT set foot on a NCL ship again until the second part of my complaint had been resolved. Over a year later no response. In the last month I have sent at least three e-mails to multiple different NCL offices and NOTHING has been resolved. In case you're wondering, the second half of my complaint was that while at sea I miscarried my baby. A baby I had just conceived two months earlier by IVF. A baby it took me YEARS to conceive. I called the front desk over and over BEGGING to have a doctor sent to me and they refused every time. No doctor was sent to me until HOURS after I lost my child. It was TERRIFYING. I could have hemorrhaged, bled out, who knows what! Thank the heavens I didn't!!! I to this day cannot believe how the situation was handled. So now I'm posting here where it's public so that people can know what kind of a cruise line you are. And I will continue positing until this situation is given the RESPECT and ATTENTION that it deserves! I want to know that steps have been taken to make sure this NEVER happens to anyone again. I want a MAJOR APOLOGY from NCL. And I said when I reported this over a year ago- I want my money back! My husband and I paid THOUSANDS of dollars to take that cruise, THOUSANDS, and this is what we get??? Me bleeding profusely and you all refusing to send a doctor?!?!?!? I was treated horrifically. Women can DIE from a miscarriage and the front desk did not even care about what was happening to me. I want the matter investigated and I want a response!!! All I have received in the past year from you all in a note saying you won't extend the ship credits I didn't use. (Credits I didn't use BECAUSE OF WHAT NCL DID TO ME!) I WANT THIS MATTER DEALT WITH! We recently returned from an April 9 sailing to the Caribbean from New York on the NCL GEM. Previous NCL cruises were : to Alaska on the SKY (2003); through the Panama Canal on the SUN (2004); to the Caribbean on the SPIRIT (2006). In intervening years we cruised on both Celebrity and Princess vessels to Bermuda, Hawaii, New England, the Caribbean, and Europe. We decided to sail NCL again after a long absence and have mixed comments regarding this most recent trip. Although the GEM was in excellent physical condition (exceptionally clean, freshly painted), in our estimation there has been a very noticeable deterioration in the quality of the dining room food as per earlier NCL experiences and definitely substandard when compared to Princess and Celebrity venues. The food was not hot when served and we quickly learned to avoid anything that was beef (strange taste and slimy consistency)...reminded me of what was called "mystery meat" when I was in college. Service was slow even though we were always among the first diners to arrive at 5 pm. I cannot attest to the food in the specialty restaurants. The buffet food was good....pretty much the same as any other ship we've sailed. A few days after our return home, we had dinner at a local Red Lobster restaurant and had a very good meal....better than any we had on the Gem. Red Lobster is by no means a high end dining venue so this doesn't say much for the GEM's food. We were not impressed with the entertainment although we did enjoy the Cirque show (Man From Mars) and Leo on the guitar. Having the ship's library nearly adjacent to the pool area created a undue noise every time the door to the library was opened. Ours was a balcony cabin and the bathroom was small. But the toilet area was incredibly cramped. How would a "large'' individual even fit in there? On the positive side, there were no reports of mass outbreaks of NOROVIRUS during the cruise and I'm sure we owe thanks to the diligence of the crew for that. And last but certainly not least....there was an abundance of ice cream, including soft ice cream on this ship and a self-serve soft ice cream dispenser on the fantail to boot. In summary, we are a retired couple who really enjoy cruising. Although this was not the best cruise we've had, it offered a welcome respite after a harsh winter and the attendant clean-up from last Fall's hurricane. It's kind of similar to the saying...."a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work". GKM read more

We sailed aboard the Norwegian Prima from 6/22 to 7/3 as a group of six with three staterooms, including cabin 5178 on Deck 5. From the first night, our room was filled with loud bass and vibrations between 11:30 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. Initially, we assumed it was a nightclub above us. On Day 3, we realized there was no nightclub nearby -- the noise was coming from directly below our room. Starting on Night 3, we began calling Guest Services nightly to report the issue. Each time, we were told security would be sent and the matter resolved. Despite these repeated assurances, the noise continued every night of the cruise. On Day 4, Norwegian sent us an apology fruit basket and wine, clearly acknowledging the problem. But again -- nothing changed. The noise persisted nightly through the remainder of the trip. Midway through, we were offered a move to an interior room -- a downgrade that would have separated us from our family. Later, with only two nights left, we were offered a balcony cabin, which we declined due to motion sickness and distance from our group. Neither option reasonably addressed the situation. Near the end of the cruise, my husband spoke directly to ship security and confirmed that the noise came from a crew bar located directly beneath our stateroom. The disturbance was caused entirely by Norwegian's own staff -- not other guests or a design flaw. Despite this, Guest Services continued to act unaware of the source. We were misled night after night, which we now view as intentional dishonesty. We gave Norwegian 11 nights to resolve this issue. They failed. The noise severely impacted our ability to sleep and enjoy the cruise -- which is a core part of what we paid for. After the cruise, we filed a formal complaint with NCL's headquarters. They acknowledged the "noise inconvenience" and offered cruise credits ($1,500 per person) as a "gesture of goodwill." We declined, as we will never sail with Norwegian again. We requested a monetary refund instead, which was refused. They have since closed our case. This is more than poor service -- it's gross mismanagement. The noise came from their own crew, and they knowingly allowed it to continue, while misleading us daily. That is unacceptable. read more

Worst Vacation Ever - Misrepresented Itinerary & Services I feel compelled to share my experience to prevent others from wasting time and money. I sailed with Norwegian Cruise Line in August 2025, Stateroom 11224, departing from Manhattan Cruise Terminal, New York, and this was, without exaggeration, the worst vacation I have ever taken. Here's what went wrong: 1. Destination Not Delivered The cruise was advertised to travel to Bermuda, the main reason I booked. Instead, NCL diverted the ship to an industrial port in Canada due to Hurricane Erin. While I understand safety concerns, the advertised destination--the primary selling point--was completely missed. This was not disclosed in advance and is a material failure of the cruise contract. 2. Balcony Misrepresentation I paid extra for a balcony stateroom, expecting to relax and enjoy the view. The balcony was completely obstructed by a large slide, making it unusable. This was never disclosed before booking, effectively nullifying the value I paid for this room. 3. Overcrowding & Entertainment Issues The ship carried over 3,000 guests, but entertainment and activities were not planned for this volume. Guests had to line up over an hour for shows, and I could not attend a single comedy performance despite repeated attempts. The ship was clearly not equipped to deliver advertised services to all passengers. 4. Poor Food Quality Meals ranged from bland to inedible, with chemical or rubbery textures. Staff were professional, but the food itself was systemically poor and below advertised standards. 5. Overworked Crew & Widespread Dissatisfaction Many crew members were visibly frustrated and unsupported. The mood onboard was tense, and passenger dissatisfaction was widespread. 6. Inadequate Compensation from NCL After formal complaints, NCL offered a $100 onboard credit (non-refundable) and 20% future cruise credit, which is completely inadequate. They refuse to take responsibility for misrepresentation, poor planning, and failure to deliver the advertised cruise. Bottom Line This was not just a disappointing cruise--it was a complete failure of service, misrepresentation, and planning. I would not recommend Norwegian Cruise Line to anyone. read more

My husband, my mother, and I were scheduled to sail on the Norwegian Epic on September 2, 2012. We had been so excited about this trip, it had been over a year in the planning. We were traveling with another couple and were including stops in London and Paris, which meant we had booked several flights, hotel rooms, etc for our trip. About 45 minutes before we were to leave for the airport, my husband was called. His father had suffered a heart attack and he was told we needed to get to a hospital 4 hours away to 'make descisions' for my father-in-law. We were really scared, we absolutely didn't know what we were walking in to. We canceled our first flight and left for the hospital. Luckily, when we arrived at the hospital, my 92 year old father-in-law was a little better, but he was in a fight for his life. Over the next 10 days, he was in ICU and luckily he pulled through. During that timeframe, my 86 year old mother-in-law had suffered a mini stroke due to the stress. Thank God both have survived. During that 10 days, my husband and I contacted all airlines, hotels, and the cruise line to cancel them. All but the cruise line worked with us so that we could use them at a future time. Norwegian would not budge. We didn't ask for a refund, but it sure would have been nice to use the $5,000 (or at least part of it) we spent on the cruise on a future cruise. We did buy insurance for my 82 year mother, who was traveling with us. Since it wasn't her relative, the insurance that we bought was denied, which pretty much means it wasn't worth the money we paid for it. Our next door neighbors had been in this same situation a few years ago. Their daughter was in a car wreck and her father had a heart attack a few days later. They had booked a cruise on Carnival Cruise lines (they didn't have insurance either) and Carnival allowed them to use all of the money they had paid for the cruise to be applied a future cruise. I can assure you, if we EVER book a cruise agan, it won't be through Norwegian. I WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST USING A DIFFERENT CRUISE LINE! read more

**Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) Deceptive Practices: A Holiday Travel Nightmare** Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has proven to be a disappointment, leaving many passengers stranded and furious over its deceptive practices. My holiday travel plans were ruined due to NCL's confusing, incomplete, and delayed communication about documentation requirements. This isn't just poor customer service--it's a potential violation of federal and Florida consumer protection laws. **The Problem** I booked a closed-loop cruise with NCL, a type of trip where U.S. citizens can travel using a birth certificate instead of a passport. During booking, I explicitly confirmed this requirement, yet NCL's communication failed to provide clear or accurate guidance. The invoice ambiguously recommended passports without addressing exceptions for minors or explaining alternatives for closed-loop cruises. Shockingly, just 30 days before departure, NCL notified me of additional documentation requirements. This left insufficient time to obtain a passport, which typically takes 6-8 weeks. The result? Unnecessary stress, confusion, and a canceled trip. **Not an Isolated Incident** Numerous other passengers faced similar issues, indicating a systemic problem in NCL's operations. This isn't a simple mistake; it's a pattern of ambiguous policies and inadequate communication that mislead customers, causing financial losses and emotional distress. **Legal Implications** Under the Federal Trade Commission Act and Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, businesses must provide clear and truthful information. NCL's failure to disclose essential documentation requirements violates these laws, constituting deceptive and unfair practices. **The Bottom Line** If you're considering booking with NCL, beware. Their lack of transparency and accountability can derail your plans and cost you time, money, and peace of mind. Companies like this must be held accountable for their actions to protect consumers. Share your story if you've been impacted--together, we can push for change. read more

I recently had the unfortunate experience of sailing with Norwegian Cruise Line on the Norwegian Epic, and I must say that my expectations were not only unmet but shattered. The level of misinformation and false promises I encountered throughout my cruise has left me feeling frustrated and thoroughly disappointed with this company. Prior to embarking on my journey, I took the responsible step of contacting Norwegian Cruise Line's customer support to clarify whether I would incur any additional charges after the cruise. I specifically asked about the unlimited drink/beverage package, and I was assured that I would not face any extra expenses. However, upon returning from my trip, I was shocked to find nearly $100 worth of charges on my account. While I do acknowledge that I purchased the Wi-Fi package for $259.88, as clearly stated, I find it absolutely unacceptable that I was charged for every single drink I consumed, despite being assured of unlimited beverages with the package. This blatant disregard for their own offer is not only misleading but also reflects a lack of integrity on the part of Norwegian Cruise Line. Furthermore, I was appalled to discover that the unlimited drink package failed to deliver as advertised in Livorno, a port I visited during my cruise. According to Norwegian Cruise Line, the restrictions on serving spirits and cocktails were supposedly due to the port's requirements. However, there was no mention of such limitations in the cruise brochure or package provided by my travel agent. I find it utterly unfair that I am now expected to pay for a service that was denied to me during a significant portion of my trip. The lack of transparency and failure to communicate these restrictions in advance demonstrate a severe lack of professionalism on the part of Norwegian Cruise Line. It is both disappointing and frustrating to see how they handled this situation, leaving customers like me feeling cheated and taken advantage of. Will change review if there's an update- currently 1/5 stars read more

My wife and I just celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary aboard the Norwegian Epic. Sorry to say it was only...okay. On our honeymoon we took a week long cruise on the Norwegian Sky and it was amazing; so amazing in fact, that we still boast about the service, the staff, the food and the wonderful time we had to anyone who will listen. I suppose our expectations were a bit high going in to the 10 year anniversary cruise aboard the Epic, but we were definitely left wanting. Not to say the entire cruise was horrible. It was just a bit mediocre. We felt nickeled and dimed from departure until arrival. Lots of small charges for this or that and the restaurants that were included in the initial cost were average at best, both food and service. On the other hand, on a 7 day cruise we choose to eat at the restaurants were you pay extra a hefty 5 times and the food and service was excellent every time. We just didn't feel as though we should have to pay extra to get that level of quality and service. Our cabin was on the 11th deck with a balcony and was definitely the nicest cabin of any cruise we have been on. The ship itself was amazing. The staff was predominantly Filipino and many of the staff were warm and friendly. We especially enjoyed our time in the Atrium and the two Atrium cafe employees were great. In addition, our trips to the casino proved profitable and the entire casino staff we encountered were fun, friendly and helpful. The Blue Man Group was absolutely amazing and Cirque Dreams was impressive as well, although the food and service for the Cirque Dreams dinner wasn't great. My wife won $300 at Bingo on the second night of the cruise - awesome! We used the extra money to visit the spa, which was huge, but overpriced. Wait for night two or three for Bingo, as they begin to offer two for one specials. If asked whether we would take Norwegian again, I would have to say, "I'm not sure". I think I might be open to trying celebrity, princess or one of the other higher end lines. read more

We have cruised Norwegian to Alaska, Hawaii, and Caribbean(twice) We cruised the Big Red boat twice(obviously years ago), Carnival once and RCC once. We had a horrible experience on RCC. We have silver status on NCL. I enjoy the cruises and have no complaints about the cruise itself. I do have issues with the booking. Our itinerary was changed from Eastern Caribbean to Western Caribbean in 2017 due to the hurricanes which is understandable. Almost immediately after we returned, I booked a 5 night Pacific Coastal. I received a e-mail that this was changed to a 9 day cruise and was given some perks if I wanted to keep the cruise or the option to book a different cruise. I booked a 7 day Eastern Caribbean at that time as we did not want to be away from home that long. Due to an injury, I did not check my e-mail for about 3 weeks. I was notified that we had been changed to a Western Caribbean because the Eastern Caribbean area was not ready for visitors. I called and asked to change the booking as we did not want the itinerary offered. I was told the Eastern Caribbean cruises were still taking place just not at that time on that ship. I asked to book a different itinerary and was transferred 3 times and placed on hold while the person assisting me would speak to a supervisor and then tell me what that person said and then tell the supervisor what I said rather than just letting me speak with the supervisor myself. Ultimately, I was allowed to change my booking but was told that even though the e-mail indicated I wouldn't lose any of my perks, I could not receive the $50.00 on board credit because I waited too long to call even though the cruise was still 9 months in the future. There were 4 of us traveling in 2 state rooms so this was only $100.00. I felt that for all the inconvenience we had encountered and having silver status we should have been treated better. We haven't been on this cruise yet but I believe the actual cruise will be as great as all the others. read more

Continuation of my previous review... The ship had movies shown in the Atrium, which is on the 6th floor and located in the center of the ship, therefore you could not hear anything. They had to have subtitle on at all times. The so-called Cruise Director you could barely hear over the intercom. If you wanted to hear what he was saying we literally had to open our room door and stand in the hallway in order to hear him. Any extra amenities you had to pay for. My grandfather wanted to play a game of pool, you had to pay to use it. There was an arcade for the kids, but of course you had to pay to use it. They had Bingo on board, which was $50 per person to play one game. There were several alcohol tasting events throughout the day, but again you had to pay for it. My mother, grandmother, and myself decided to do a black glass champagne tasting, since we could not get in the pool and there was literally nothing else to do. My grandmothers glass had someone else's lipstick on it! The Casino was a decent size. We spent a lot of our time here, since there was nothing else to do. The staff should have been more mindful of the overly drunk people who should not have been allowed to gamble, but they did not care as long as they were making money. The first night, my mother, grandfather and myself were playing Roulette. There was this overly drunk woman, who you could tell the other players were annoyed by her, as well as the dealer. She already spilt one drink before we started to play. She ordered a glass of red wine and the dealer kept asking her to put it in the drink holder. She was not listening and should have been told to leave the table. Instead, she spilt her red wine all over all of our bets. The dealer stated that he foreseen this happening. This same night there was vomit all over the elevator floor. After paying for the trip to be "all inclusive" we ended up having to spend an addition $1700 to have decent food and relax. Worst vacation I have ever been on! read more

Isn't a cruise meant for fun and relaxation? Apparently a particular cruise singer on the NCL Sun, Kim D., did not think so. She felt it was the right thing to do to single out my father. During those jewelry seminars, my father lined up for a flyer, which were being handed out by this racist pig. She handed them out to the people ahead of my father in line. When my father got to her, she told him to "sit down and I'll give you a flyer later" (unprovoked!). My father, figuring the seminar was about to start or something, did so. However, she continued handing out flyers to everyone behind him in the line! sometimes giving more than 1 to an individual for their spouses! I guess I should mention that we were the only asian attendees in a predominantly white audience. When this occurred, the surrounding cruisers couldn't believe it either, saying loudly "That is unbelievable!!" That didn't seem to faze her - apparently racism is a virtue of her's. Once the line was finished, the kind man next to us raised his hand, trying to get her attention so my dad could get this flyer. My mom raised her hand as well, and seeing that there was no more line, this "singer" reluctantly came over to us. My mother explained to her that what she did was wrong and unacceptable in a quiet voice. You know how she responded?! "Well, I guess I did that, huh?" She never apologized. Then she tried to mitigate the situation by offering us more raffle tickets! Are you kidding me?! I think it's obvious we did not accept. We submitted a complaint at the front desk and was never contacted about this issue. This occurred on the first day on the cruise - I must say it ruined our vacation. I will never cruise with NCL again. How can anyone be that RACIST, RUDE, IMMORAL and PREJUDICED? Especially in this day and age? Who was she raised by?! The KKK?! She's fortunate my mother spoke to her and she didn't stoop down to her level to call her a fat pasty bottle-eyed racist. Unfortunately, I will. read more

I was quoted a price over the phone on 11/4/2022. I then asked if there were any military discounts available. The woman told me how to verify my military status with ID.ME, which I did. She then said that the discount will be reflected in my reservation. About 10 minutes after ending our call, I got the reservations (I made reservations for 2 rooms) and the price had actually gone up. I called her to let her know the price was wrong and she said she'll call me back. I never received a call and she doesn't answer her phone or emails any more. I tried to get it resolved with another agent, but she refused to help. I tried again with someone else and no luck there either. Then, the day before my full payment due date (11/13), I tried to call to cancel so I wouldn't lose my deposit. No answer. No call back. I emailed and left voice mails to cancel. Finally, on 11/14, I was able to get ahold of someone that canceled and said I'll receive my deposit but gave me no verification that my deposit refund would be honored. Still waiting for the refund ($750). These people told me that the military discount was already applied. If it was applied, why was my rate higher, not lower? I'm 100% disabled veteran and this is how they treat me. Other than the first person I talked to that booked my reservation (and lied), everyone else was rude and unconcerned. I called the corporate line for the resolutions department to file a complaint. Katherine basically told me there was no official way to file a complaint, only that my reservation would be noted. Great, now everyone will treat me as a "difficult" customer. I will never sail with Norwegian again. She also told me they won't honor my quote. Resolutions department is useless. Even if by some chance they honored my quote, I've lost all faith in these people. I will forever be known as a difficult customer and will likely be treated as such by the crew. They've lost this family for life. read more

I recently sailed on the Norwegian Jade from Vancouver, planning a relaxing 12-night cruise to San Diego. Instead, I ended up leaving the ship early in Astoria, Oregon, because the entire experience was frustrating, disappointing, and frankly dishonest. Let's start with the biggest scam of all the so-called "Starlink Internet." Norwegian charged me nearly $400 for what they claimed was high-speed streaming Wi-Fi powered by Starlink. It's not even on board. The connection barely worked; sending a simple message took minutes, and streaming anything was impossible. When I asked about it, the internet supervisor was rude and dismissive. Next the mandatory prepaid gratuities. They charge every passenger between $20 and $25 per day, totaling hundreds of dollars by the end of the cruise. Passengers think they're tipping the hardworking crew, but most of those employees never even see that money. It's shameful exploitation of both guests and crew. Norwegian is making customers pay their workers instead of paying them fairly themselves. This practice deserves legal attention. Then there's the nickel-and-diming everywhere you turn. They charge $9.95 for room service plus a 20% gratuity on top of the gratuities you already paid. I was even told I could only choose one hot or cold item from the menu. And in the main dining room, if you want a second entrée, it's an extra $5 fee. For a company that markets "freestyle cruising," there's nothing free about it. The only bright spot was my stateroom steward a genuinely kind and hardworking person who did their best despite the corporate greed all around them. Norwegian Cruise Lines has turned what used to be a special experience into a corporate money grab. They exploit their crew, overcharge their passengers, and hide behind slick marketing. I sincerely hope someone holds them accountable. Until then, I will never sail with Norwegian again. read more
