I was so excited to check this place out on my drive through Salem and it did not disappoint! I got the Buffalo ceasar wrap and my partner got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Both were so delicious although his sandwich definitely had me jealous. The crunch on the chicken was incredible and the flavor was spot on. The place is a part of the mall but has a street facing entrance which is nice. Everyone there was lovely and excitable about the food and for good reason. I hate to write a bad review about a vegan place because they are few and far between, but OMG the service here is terrible. Was introduced to this place recently by a friend, and had a GREAT GF vegan wrap there. I had been craving it for weeks so we hopped in the car and drove out there from Boston in Friday evening traffic (IYKYK). They were open until 7:00p - we arrived at 6:28 and were informed that they turned the grill and fryers off. We asked when they do that....6:25. First of all - if you're open until 7, be open until 7. Pay your staff to clean and power down stuff after 7. If you're open until 6:25 then write that somewhere and we will go elsewhere (or not drive for OVER AN HOUR to get there). The annoying part is that the person at the counter could not care less that weren't getting helped. "Oh, sorry." It's sad, cause I'm still craving that wrap, but I'll have to find my fix somewhere else. read more

Okay; this is a tough place to review because you want to encourage vegan community, but you also don't want to go someplace and be treated like you shouldn't bother the staff. Positive: the food is great, I've eaten here four times and everything is wonderful. Inbetween: they have tshirts and merch; poorly arranged, but this part has a lot of potential. Negative: the staff has the worst attitude I've ever encountered in a vegan restaurant. There is this one shorter person with died hair at the register and either she hates her job, hates her life, or just hates the customers but I've never seen a worse attitude problem at the front counter. If she worked for me she would be fired in a day. Every person I've encountered who work there have the absolute worst attitude issues, no customer service skills at all. Also, those 11:00AM opening hours in a weekend are awful. This place has a lot of potential for greatness but there needs to be an employee shake up and a real manager needs to be brought in. read more

OMG! Fresh baked goodies right out of the oven!? Nothing is better then that!! So glad I was there when I was to experience this. Careful, taking a piece of super delicious blueberry muffin w/ the heat smoke coming out of it. So many damn blueberries, wow! The warm gooey chocolate chip cookie was melt in your mouth amazing! The breakfast sandwich was super tasty & since I don't do anything spicy, subbed for mayo instead & it was delish. No matter what you get you can't go wrong. I don't understand Salem's weird thing of businesses being closed Tues/Wed instead of usual Monday. Weird. One of the only vegan spots in Salem, I knew I needed to try this, and although I was initially stunned by the higher prices ($17 for a burger with an additional $5-7 to add on fries), the portions are quite generous, and I really enjoyed the food. The crispy chickn sandwich was cooked to the perfect texture, arrived hot, and had just the right amount of sauce. I got chips instead of fries which were only $2.25, going to show how they probably make their money. I also got their apple cider ($5.50) which was quite refreshing and aromatic. And while it does take effort to look past the kitsch to learn about this terrible history, you don't have to look far to find amazing vegan food. Not Ya Mama's Vegan, recently relocated from Worcester, serves the BEST vegan chick'n patty. It's moist, plump, and thick and made fully in-house, confirmed by the nice man at the counter. So good, we got it on two dishes, the Caesar salad and the crispy chick'n sandwich. Not to discount its other offerings. It just means we're saving it for the next time we roll through (I'm looking at you, Reuben sandwich). NYMV is located on the north end of Witch City Mall, with a spacious dining area, and is not to be missed. read more

Not Ya Mama's Vegan (formerly in Worcester) has opened up a new location in the original Jodi Bee's location which is just to the right of the main door to the Witch City museum. We came here to try their vegan food while visiting Salem for the day. This place is located close by to the visitor center (around the corner). There is plenty of indoor seating. We came around 1 pm and there were several tables available. This place promotes a LGBTQ+ friendly environment, which is great. Menus are located on the counter and you proceed to order at the counter, give your name, and the food is delivered to your table. The food is served well and tastes great! We got the crispy chicken sandwich, Reuben sandwich, an order of fries, and Mac n cheese. The restaurant staff were friendly and welcoming. On my last visit I tried a special they were running, the vegan chicken wrap/taco pictured in my Yelp photo. At just $4.50 each, I grabbed two, and honestly I could have eaten a third. The "chicken" was tender and well seasoned, the veggies were fresh and crunchy, and the sauce tied everything together with just the right kick. Just finally made my pilgrimage here to NYMVC and let me tell you, I'm considering moving to Salem just to be near it! I was greeted by the friendliest service I've experienced in a long time. We heard this place had opened not long ago so we were eager to try it out. The girl at the counter was friendly and offered suggestions and answered all the questions we had. The menu is definitely more comfort food aimed and not meant to be a super healthy option. The food was excellent. We ordered a 'steak' bomb and a 'steak and cheese'. We were torn between fries or mac n cheese, the girl at the counter said both were wicked good, talked about the seasoning on the fries and how the mac and cheese was house made so she sold us on both, she was absolutely on point, we loved both and both subs were excellent. The cooks are the husband and wife owners, we interacted with both and both were very friendly. I gave the atmosphere one less star only because of how empty the place was, lots of shelves but nothing on them, passed that though the restaurant was clean and neat. You cannot go wrong with the steak bomb. Outstanding. Even if you are a meateater you will crave this. Tastes exactly like the SuperSub steak bombs from Beverly back in the 80s and 90s. This is a review for just the service, I came in to pick up my online order and tipped as well. I asked can I use the bathroom after picking my food up and a women with a short cut said that bathrooms are for dine in customers only which makes no sense. The bathroom should be for all customers.
