How had I not written a review. I LOVE this place. I live in Atlanta and if only the people of…read moreMadison knew how LUCKY they were to have this in their downtown square. I have been here multiple times and it never fails to disappoint. A few of my favourite items are Baguette - MUST PURCHASE. One of the best even compared to many of the bakeries in Atlanta. Croissant - All are very good. Highly recommend Blueberry Fontaine - becoming another favourite. Better to eat the day of. They are usually sold out so I always try to snag them. Eclairs - another staple I've been getting. The filling is delicious AND Jam packed. I only wish they have a chocolate top with vanilla filling option but that's cause it's a nostalgic thing. Smore Tart - I love this but I usually have to share with because the chocolate is so dense. Keylime - another one I always get, just the perfect flavor. Honestly haven't had a bad thing there. Also the customer service person is always as enthusiastic as we are about the goods. There is no place to sit but you can go across the square and get a coffee and have a seat in the old gas station (I've been told the bakery owns that company too)

Given my love of eclairs, and after reading the reviews about this place, my adoptive family (wife…read moreand hubby) and I, finally got a chance to stop here. While I've had eclairs and tarts from several different Italian bakeries, and 3 stores, this is the first time I've had them from a French (these treats originated in France) bakery. Even though thel size is inline with the original classic eclair (had a bit less gauche), I was disappointed. And, much prefer the Italian version. Now, they had 4 different versions of eclairs (fruit, chocolate, vanilla and, coffee), along with many different tarts, with and without, fruit. I settled on 2 Chocolate Eclairs and, 1 Blueberry + Almond Fruit Tart. BAFT: While I liked it, it was nothing to write home about. I felt that there wasn't enough almond flavoring and, the crust was a bit dry. CEs: While it was packed with filling, I think, someone in the kitchen messed up, as there was a distinctive coffee taste (I don't like coffee), rather than just the custard or, vanilla taste. Had it not been for that, I would have given them 4 Stars. Why not 5? Well, I thought $6.00 (x2) and $7.00 each is a bit expensive. Especially, considering the size of the CEs and BAFT. For sure, I won't worry about a special trip here again. And, if we should stop here again, I doubt if I'd even bother with the eclairs (maybe a fruit one???).

The City Cafe & Bakery in Fayetteville seems to be a staple of the community. I visited twice now…read more&, both times, noticed groups of families and friends gathering happily to celebrate birthdays and special occasions ! Note for out-of-town visitors -- I think dining here is more about the aspect of communal dining than expectations for a truly 5-star meal, as I've found the food to be overall average. Especially for the price. The hostess is friendly and helpful. My waitresses have been attentive and kind. The service is good and consistent. The food menu is very limited in options for vegans & vegetarians. They serve beer, wine & spirits. There is a drink menu available upon request for beer, wine and spirits. There was a guitar player playing beautiful live music for the duration of my first visit (Feb 2026). During my most recent visit (8 April 2026), I ordered the Pecan Crusted grouper with red cabbage & seasonal veggies. The grouper was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside & topped with a strawberry mango fruit compote. Both the cabbage and veggies were overcooked which was disappointing bc I appreciate some good texture! The flavors were good though. So if completely softened veggies are your thing, I think you'd enjoy them. To drink, I ordered a mocktail that is new to the drink menu -- a Triple Citrus Paloma. It was refreshingly tart & garnished with a honey dipped Tajin rim! Shoutout to Lucinda for curating it. Additionally, my husband and I shared the salmon croquettes as an appetizers & I had the key lime tart to go. Neither was necessarily memorable (I completely forgot about them until prompted by Yelp to review this review) but I'd order the croquettes again! City Cafe & Bakery has a pretty vast selection of desserts! Cakes. Pies. Tarts. Petit fours. Cookies. Cannolis. Cheesecake. Eclairs. Mousse. Everything is baked in-house except the macarons. Be sure to ask about the promos. Wednesday & Thursday, purchase an adult entree get a free slice of cake or any 3" pastry. Wednesday thru Saturday, kids eat free from 3-8 pm. I also saw a flyer for their Mother's Day brunch buffet on Sunday, May 10th. It's from 11 am - 3 pm. $49 for Adults. $29 for Kids, under 12. Available for booking online.

The best thing about 'City Cafe & Bakery' is they are so much more than a bakery, even though that…read moreis half of their title. Yes I have been there before and only give them 4 stars probably because their reputation was so big I needed to balance that... Totally in on 5 stars now. #1 Food -- been around FOREVER but still hear of people making it a point to support the locally owned business. Now they partner with the local brewery AWKWARD for Octoberfest and that has opened up new doors for them... and they celebrate on their patio all month long. The bakery is one of the best in the area. I was able to order sausage through them for a special party that they buy from a meat packer WAY on the other side of Atlanta. #2 Service -- the fact that they would work with me to add on to their meat order shows they care about the community and their customers. That they would partner with a small brewery to bring their Schnitzel and all the other things they make great that are traditional German dishes shows openness to collaborate and grow rather than compete. And they are very efficient in house to keep the table moving without feeling rushed, because there almost always is a wait at dinner. #3 Small dining area, but feels as comfortable as grandmas. Authentic 'bistro' decor. The bakery goods case is the showcase in the room... always calling out for desert or tomorrow's breakfast to take home with you.
