They've been in business for over two generations, and all of the ladies who work there are extremely friendly and they go above and beyond to provide outstanding customer service! I'm 70 years old, and if I were younger I would love to work there. They're doing it "ALL right" to still be in a thriving bakery business in our struggling times. I get my holiday orders in early, and once you become a regular customer you'll understand why! They work endlessly to make sure that they have taken care of their customers wants and needs long before Christmas Eve. They close the bakery from the afternoon on Christmas Eve, and they stay closed until after the New Year! We all realize how important it is for their staff to enjoy the holidays with their own families and friends, so we make sure that we're set with our bakery orders and needs before Christmas Eve. I've heard such great things and have seen some of their gorgeous pastries before, so this has been on my "must try" list for quite some time. The moment I walked in, I was impressed. The space feels so open, bright, and elevated, and then you see the huge glass cases filled with what feels like ENDLESS options. Seriously, some of the most beautiful pastries and cakes I've seen in the Fredericksburg area. There were so many choices I didn't even know where to start! My immediate thought was, "Where was this place before my son's 10th birthday?!" It can be difficult around Fredericksburg to find a beautifully decorated cake that also looks delicious without having to place a custom order far in advance. Their Celebration Cake and Rainbow Cake immediately caught my eye, and I absolutely would have considered one for his birthday. Now that I know they're here, there's always next year! For my first visit, I decided on the grilled cheese and Flaky Frank and asked for them toasted to go. The grilled cheese could have used just a little longer in the toaster because the cheese wasn't quite as melty in the center as I would have liked, but that first bite was SO crispy and delicious that I immediately knew I'd be back for another. Anything made with sourdough already has my attention, but a sourdough grilled cheese with cheese melted and toasted on TOP of the bread too?! That's a whole different level of heaven. This will 100% be a repeat order for me. The Flaky Frank was more of a miss for my personal taste. I had actually seen someone order one before and thought it looked delicious, which is one of the reasons I chose it. I'm not sure if it was the hot dog, the croissant, or simply the combination of the two, but it was very rich and had a particular flavor that just didn't agree with me. I only made it through a couple of bites. That being said, some of their other hot dog options looked AMAZING, especially the ones topped with different sauces, so I'd still be willing to try another variety. Overall, my first visit absolutely lived up to the hype. The selection alone makes you want to come back just to work your way through the cases. Between the pastries, breads, savory options, and gorgeous cakes, I already know this won't be my last visit. And that grilled cheese? I'm definitely coming back for you. I kept the Flaky Frank feedback honest without letting it overshadow how much you enjoyed the overall experience.

It's a good sign that Rita's has customers at many hours throughout the day. This Rita's is relatively popular but has a terrible location for when it gets busy. The parking lot can be hectic and tight and people overflow quickly into the parking lot, at times, when it's only slightly busy. Also, I've gone a couple times during a rush (unintentionally) and there has often been one person working so it would move very slowly. Makes sense but I'm surprised the owner hasn't looked at data to analyze the busiest times and I don't even know if the workers have relayed information about the busy hours. I've avoided this locations several times when I see it's slightly busy and there's one worker. It always just gets worse with the wait time from that point on. The service is friendly and there are a few outdoor tables to eat your delicious choice at. The ambiance is nice but it can get very crowded quickly. I love their rewards app and I'll admit it gets me to go back some times.
