Just gross !! This place has a really bad foul smell as soon as you walk in. The pan dulce is in the back, but you have to pick through it because some looks very old. The food looks old, their coffee section is dirty and the cakes are old too. All the cakes were old with rotting strawberries. I really didn't not enjoy this establishment. Will not be returning. Props to who ever took those deceiving pictures! The actual place doesn't look like that at all, it's dirty, unorganized, the bread is OLD and I mean old. The food was overpriced, the only reason we went was bc it's been hard to find a decent place with Mexican food. The lady didn't give us the correct order, I even asked twice to make sure bc I speak Spanish and I my girls didn't like much on the menu. The burritos are bland, meat was questionable. The have Hispanic products which are old looking too. Don't bother, apparently the Hispanics cooking in this area take no pride in providing good quality food!! ****3.75 stars*** After my mom and sister shared some treats from this bakery with me, I'd been looking forward to visiting myself. Today I got the chance, and I'm pretty pleased with the experience. Outside of the powdered cappuccino machines and the lack of descriptions, or even names, on some of the pastries, I feel like this little bakery/cafe has some real promise. The tres leches is not as good as the one offered at Castro in Falls Church, but the option of tirimisu is a tasty one. Also, from my random selection of cookies, freshness is closely regulated here. Lots of small bakeries seem to push the limits of expiration dates, often times leading costumers to being tricked into purchasing a "fresh made" 2+ day old pastry. Panaderia keeps its stock rotating from the main cases to the day old reduced cases on a proper schedule. I'm really interested in trying some of their savory options next visit. The pupusas, savory empanadas, and tamales are on my radar for sure. It would be great if they're as delicious as they are well priced. With most of the lunch options priced under $10, this could be a great meal option when I'm working in the local area. read more

So disappointed. My wife and I have been hunting for a real bakery in Stafford, not some gourmet artsy place with $80 cakes. So when we ran across this one over by GoodWill we thought let's give it a try. We first called on Wed and the person who answered barely spoke any English. I'm okay with that being a Spanish bakery but keep in mind this is in the Anglo part of town near Home Depot so it would make sense to have a front line person who was bilingual at least. I inquired about cakes made to order but had no luck so we drove over. The refrigerator displays gave us great hope. They had a large assortment of breads and pastries you would expect to see at a bakery, and reasonably priced under $2 for most hand items... In other words we were not in a $6 cup cake shop but a real bakery with reasonable prices... A little higher than the local grocery but that is expected for a bakery and I'm okay with that. The guy was alone and we had to charades our way through a birthday cake order. The one he suggested via his book was an $18.99 cake, slightly more than the $15.99 cake but a house specialty of sorts. So we wanted to order what they felt was their best. This of course was our trial cake. We paid for it is full and purchased a pastry to go and share. We detailed what we wanted written.. Happy Birthday Ray, and expressed our desired pick up time which the man wrote down and witnessed as correct ... Friday 1/19 at 9am. We got to the shop on Friday at 945am and after a 10 minute search of the shop and it was discovered that although they had the ticket and it clearly said Friday 1/19 by 9am they had forgotten to make it. They asked if we could come back later but we explained we needed it for a gathering at noon on Springfield (work party). The man kept trying to convince us to come back later... Even though we just wanted our money back. He gave us the $20 back and we went on our way and had to find a last minute cake up in Springfield off the shelf which is not what we really wanted. It was unfortunate because the pastry we had was true to form BakenShop ish. So we had high hopes for the cake. But we just cant find a way to justify and try again... You can't screw upnanbirthday (no cake) and earn the trust of your customers. What they should have done... (We did not ask because we would never expect this) but they should have refunded our $20 and still aksed us to come back after work and pick up a cake on them so they could prove it was in our interest to return in the future. Just my idea of making it right after such a major screw up. But they did not offer nor did we ask. So bottom line. The food was great if you just want to buy what they made in advance... But we can't count on them to act like professionals and make orders. read more

This is our second time here. Staff is very friendly and they have lots of variety. The bakery is hidden back by Edible Arrangements and the Goodwill and drawls a steady crowd. They specialize in Mexican, Guatemala and Salvadoran food. I can't wait to come back for lunch and try the Tamales. read more

I love this place all the bake goods are very inexpensive but BEYOND delicious I know the family personally and quite honestly I've never come and paid over 10 dollars without leaving with bags full of goodies definitely recommend too all they speak espanol and English so don't be afraid too come in and try some of there food. read more

I ordered 2 cakes for 2 different people from this bakery. One was trees leches and the other was a simple white cake. The order form has specifically stated what name I wanted on what cake. When I went to pickup the cakes they looked great however, they had mixed up the cakes. When I told them the cakes had the wrong names on them I was asked if I could just let it slide. Of course I said no and ask them to please fix it.... . they where 2different cakes. The guy took the cake to the back and they scraped the names off that where piped in blue icing smearing the blue all over the white cakes and repiped the names. Needless to say I'm extremely annoyed at the fact that I paid $60 for two 6inch cakes that where anything but perfect especially since it was written on the order form. .......I added pictures of the cakes read more

Lots of selection and most are also in English! Tried the tres leches cake and thought it was decent. I've never had tres leches cake so I can't compare it. There wasn't a lot of fruit in it but it tasted like it did. It wasn't very sweet at all, which is my kind of dessert. The tres leches cake (and all the other cakes) were prepackaged in one of those to-go-like fridges. They also had a tres leches parfait sorta dessert in a cup with lots of strawberry sauce with chunks of strawberries. Also bought a beef empanada from the case. Delish! It had veggies (one of them was green bell pepper) mixed in with the beef. I like that the moist filling complimented the dough. read more

I stopped by today and purchased a pupusa de chicharron, tamal de elote with crema, and a tamal salvadoreño... sooooo good!!! Nothing was soggy, everything was very flavorful, and at very decent prices. I kept saying OMG as I was eating. I will definitely be back to try different things. I took my food to go but there is a small area to eat there. This bakery is small in size and may look like it could use a revamp, but don't judge a book by its cover! Been here a few times for the bread and cookies. This time we tried the restaurant. Papusas were bursting with pork and cheese. The accompanying slaw was too spicy for me, but crunchy and light. I had the fajita. Thin strips of steak, well seasoned, with green and red peppers and onions. Served with two small soft tortillas. The meat was little dry, but delicious. I added a little sour cream and it was perfect for my taste. Hubby had a pork tamal. It's different from your basic Mexican tamale, the masa was much smoother and softer in texture, filled with chunks of pork and red peppers. Both were served with black beans and rice. The meals were filling and flavorful. Central American food is different from what I'm used to. What a delicious difference! We'll be back! read more

Looking to try a new restaurant in the neighborhood and ran across this small authentic Mexican bakery. There was a small menu and a bit pricey but it definitely made up for it with the taste. I ordered the chicken burrito beans and rice and it was on my table in ten minutes. It has a small sitting area but on a Sunday afternoon it was not crowded. I didn't try the baked goods but liked that there was quite a bit reduced for quick sale. I am definitely going back to try some of the other items mentioned in the review. read more

I'm Mexican and love the sweet bread here! Very good with coffee. Always have lots to choose from and also have cakes and a menu for lunch.

I am always interested in trying new places and today my daughter and I decided to try the food here. I ordered the tamele lunch special with chicken while my daughter tried the chicken quesadila. The woman at the counter was kind but according to her the lunch combos did not come with a drink and the prices were not what was listed on the door of $5.99. I did not really mind but advertisements should be correct. We waited for our food for quite a while and when I went to inquire as to how much longer it would be, the silver help bell was broken. After a few more minutes we received our food and went home to eat it. My daughter and I agreed that the food was ok, a little bland and dry so we spiced it up with salsa. We had also ordered tres leches. The cake was moist and slightly sweet which was nice although a bit more fruit would have been great. Overall I do not feel that I would go back as the prices exceed the quality of the food. As someone with Cuban roots whose daughter is half Mexican I love hispanic food but I think the seasoning needs improving. Also there were several dishes listed which they did not have available. If they can improve the seasoning and make the meat less dry and make sure they follow what they advertise then I would try it again. Otherwise there are other better places to eat. read more
