I've been wanting to come here for a while. My friend loooves this place. To say I left confused and disappointed is an understatement. I walk in and it's me and two other people. I select some food items from the side like garbanzo beans, sauces, etc... (They have some grocery style shelves to the right, as you are walking in.) I approach the counter and am taken a back by the storage stuff on the floor. It reminded me of my sister's garage and didn't feel very restaurant-y or cafe-y. I am abruptly asked what do I want. (Not, would you like to eat in or take out? Not, how are you. ... "you get the picture") I look around a find a menu. He could have handed me one in front of him but ... whatever. I order a hummus appetizer with pita chips. He looks at me and says.. "You can get a package of pita bread behind you." I turn around. A pile of pita bread is on a table. I try to tell him I want the appetizer meal but he's not budging. I then say I'll take a medium hummus container. I say I want to order several spinach pies. He says we only have one. He puts a large container of hummus on the counter. I start to ask if I can order some gyros but.... **** At this point, I'm done. I traveled across town for this? I put all the grocery items back on the shelf, said I'll buy the package of pita bread and large hummus and I'm done. 1. I should have just walked out but I still wanted to be nice because this is a place my friend loves. 2. I'll never come back. "Don't judge a book by its cover" couldn't be a more appropriate phrase for Noura Cafe. The cafe knocks out phenomenal dishes at reasonable prices. Based on attempting only one of their nightly specials, I would imagine there's a whole lot of menu to try here. Walking in for the first time threw me slightly off guard, mainly because I wasn't sure if I was supposed to order the counter or take a seat. FYI, order at the counter! The gentleman who rang me up was blunt, but friendly and ran through all the current specials. Each additional word that came out of his mouth only made my mouth water more. Finally, I made the commitment to the Lamb Shank special. If you want to eat like a King, but only have $11.99 in your pocket, this is the move, man! The meat practically fell off the bone, merely with the poke of a fork. Succulent, juicy and off the charts if you ask me! Also, the rice was comparable to eating mini, fluffy pillows made from grains. On point! The accompanying pita was good, and the side salad definitely above average. The dressing was a nice touch. If these dishes were an indicator of the remainder of the menu, we're in for a real treat here. The unassuming cafe can bring the heat. I hope the greater community gives them a shot, because their taste buds won't regret it. We were sold on the food when we tried their hummus and tabbouleh at the MOSH event so we knew we had to come and try more. We shared a kabob platter and their mixed platter. Everything was delicious!! One of the best kibbe I've ever had, meat was super flavorful and juicy, with a crispy outside. Their tabbouleh had good flavor and made the traditional way, more parsley, less bulgar wheat. Hummus and baba ganoush were on point too. Also one of the better baba ganoush I've had too, extra lemony and chunky, the way I like it! They also have toum!! It's on the menu as "garlic paste". Noura makes hers really garlicky too...YUM!! They don't have chicken shawarma, so we opted for kabobs. Both the chicken and kafta (beef) were really good, perfectly grilled and meat still moist. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the rice, def will opted for a different side next time. The table next to us ordered the kafta sandwich and it looked amazing. Can't wait to come and try more of their menu! The interior of the restaurant is a good size with plenty of seating, open and clean. They also have a mini market with imported goods from Lebanon, pantry staples and few refrigerated items. You can also buy deli size containers of their food to go as well. Needless to say, we left with some hummus and baba ganoush. Definitely 5 stars for Lebanese food in Jax. 4.5 stars compared other Lebanese meals I've had in my life. read more

I am in love with Noura Café and their Middle Eastern food. Was in the area for an event, read a few Yelp reviews on the place....and I was sold! From the minute you walk in you are warmly welcomed, and if never been before, the owner will talk you through the menu and specials. Cozy little place, with what looks like a evening room to the side for special events? They also have a couple shelves full of middle eastern goodies to buy and take home, a little market if you will. There were 5 ladies in our party, and we all ordered something different. There is plenty to choose from, but deciding what to get was a problem. I ordered the trio salad plate with a side of kibbeh, and washed it down with the Beirut beer...yummy! The 3 salads I choose were the hummus, Tabbouleh, and lentil rice salad. The hummus was smooth and very tasty. The Tabbouleh was fresh; with chopped parsley, tomatoes, onions and spiced just right. The best and freshest Tabbouleh I have ever eaten! The lentil rice salad was tender and full of flavor. And the beer....was nice, cold, and refreshing! Some other favorites at the table were: the stuffed cabbage rolls (on special) The chicken shawarma platter The Greek salad with chicken Baba Ganoush The food was amazing, service was delightful, the company was the best, the drinks were delicious, and the atmosphere was inviting! Met a friend here for dinner the other night and I really liked it. I'm used to my middle eastern friends cooking and one of the first things I asked is if they had hot tea and he said no that was curious. Hot tea comes with just about every single middle eastern meal-it's tradition. Anyway I read through the menu and found some good vegetarian things I could eat. He pointed out the specials (all had meat) so I settled for the same old same old-hummus, salad and tabouleh. I must say it was pretty good! Lots of delicious flavors but some spots in the salad were so salty I spit it out! My friend said her dish was delicious and overall it was good. I don't know if I'd make a special trip across town to eat there again (I mean, I have Hovan in Riverside) BUT you'll probably get a delicious meal if you decide to check it out. read more

Noura Cafe is restaurant run by a Lebanese couple that serves authentic middle eastern food. It's a decent sized store and their menu covers a variety of foods. The kibbeh is soooo good. Everything is reasonably priced and they even have a small portion of the store dedicated to staples in middle eastern groceries. I also ordered the shish tawook platter which is grilled chicken on a skewer and comes with 2 sides. The staff is very friendly and they offer daily specials which tend to be foods not served in restaurants but more of a home feel to them if you want the real experience. The cafe was busy when we got there and stayed busy all the way through. read more

I have to admit that I've been wanting to try shawarma since The original Avengers in 2012, and I finally did while I was in JAX the second night. Yeah, I know that is a long wait, but my wife and teenage daughter don't venture out much with food, but now that I'm flying everywhere I get to check out new things more often. Of course, my youngest is eating food now, and he loves all varieties and put back most things I give him, so that trend will be going away as he gets older. My crew all slam clicked (went straight to their rooms), so I didn't visit the establishment but rather ordered online. I got the beef shawarma and the kibbeh balls for a side, and everything was AMAZING!! Being a newbie I didn't know what to get as a side, and just went off of a previous Yelper's review, and I'm glad I did! This was our first experience and the last. To start with both entrees ordered came with choice of 2 sides. We choose rice and veggies. Neither order of sides arrived. We also ordered a za'atar which was not delivered. Then the food wasn't that good. Worst grape leaves have ever tried and my Kafka kabob was more fat that it was meat. read more

Hadn't been here in a while and glad I returned. The food is always full of flavor and fresh. We ordered the Baked Chicken Plate special. It came with a lovely side salad, amazing yellow rice which had a nice amount of mixed veges and was extremely moist and not over cooked, it was just right! The chicken fell off the bone and was seasoned with Middle Eastern spices throughout. We also had a generous order of Labneh with pita, and a mixed platter that had kibbe, dolmades, tabouli, hummus and banana ganoosh. All dips weremade very well with full body, no loose dips and served with warm pita. The only item I wasn't head over heels about were the dolmades (stuffed grape leaves). They were rolled well, but the leaves were a little tough and they were a little dry. Overall, excellent meal!! read more

Absolutely great Lebanese style Mediterranean food. The best kibbeh I've ever had anywhere, delicious lamb gyro made on Syrian bread instead of pita, and with grilled onions instead of raw. Theo tabbouli is good, the yellow rice tender and flavorful, the tzatziki tastes more like labneh and is better, baba ganoush spicy & tasty, and really good hummus. They have a wide variety of Middle Eastern grocery items for sale, some Lebanese wine, and baked goods. Middle Eastern music was playing on the radio. Their platters are a great way to taste a variety of items. They have many items and daily specials atypical such as stuffed squash today. I have to go back to try more items like the shawarma. Two of us ordered two platters, one a gryo wrap and the other a sampler platter. We easily finished everything and did not leave full. We spent just under $30 with drinks. We live down the street from Noura's and always get take out here - never disappoints!! Amazing proportions and delicious!!

This place gets five stars for four reasons: 1) Making it feel like I am literally coming over to their house for dinner. It has such a home cooked, part of the family vibe that it is impossible not to feel immediately at ease and comfortable there. 2) For the amazing faux tree along one of the walls. A dangerous move, but in this case, a successful one. 3) It is spotlessly clean. I think they wipe down each item in their small grocery section every day. Even the bathrooms smell good. 4) The food is authentic and delicious! We ordered the special of the day, malfouf [stuffed cabbage rolls] and they were fresh and well seasoned, and the falafel platter. The falafels are made on the spot, AFTER you order them [no frozen or pre-prepared falafels from them] and are awesome. Also, the hummus was great and the tabbouleh may be the best tabbouleh we've ever had. I highly recommend this place. Oh, and side note, even though it says they are only open til 7pm, if you call ahead and let them know you want to have dinner there they will "wait for you". No joke. It is that kind of place. Middle-Eastern fare is some of my favorite food. I have eaten shawarma, kibbeh, falafel, etc. in a few open-air souks and restaurants in Abu Dhabi, so when I tell you that Noura Cafe is the real deal, I speak from experience. I ordered the Kibbeh (a fried, breaded ball of meat and spices) and the Kefta platter, which is a kebab formed from ground beef and/or lamb served with hummus and tabouleh. The kibbeh was so flavorful and yet so light and airy. Crispy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. The kefta was perfectly seasoned and prepared, not chewy as they can sometimes be if not done right. Placed in the pita bread and dipped in the velvety hummus...brought me right back to Dubai. I had difficulty understanding the menu/ cashier since I was in a rush- I was under the impression that I had to order a full platter of falafel ($10). However, I see that people have been able to order it as a side? Oh well. I got a chicken gyro with hummus, pita bread, and rice. Everything was good although the rice was kind of boring. I would have much rather liked to try the falafel! It was $10.96... By the way, Winn Dixie across the street typically has BOGO coupons for Noura's Cafe on the back of the receipt. First impression...authentic, clean, busy, original, traditional, small, friendly. Greek salad was fresh with excellent feta. Falafel sandwich was perfectly cooked, light, mild, flavorful, filling without the overpowering yogurt sauce. Too full to eat the hummus tabbouleh wrap. I can't recommend a single dish because simply EVERYTHING I've eaten there was amazing! The music selection is exotic and fun - it actually makes me feel like I'm in Lebanon. The best Middle Eastern food I've had anywhere. HIGHLY recommend: Bak lava - I'm thoroughly a BL addict and this is the best I've ever had Hummus & Baba Ganoush - the hummus is insane. And the BG has a mysteriously addicting Smoky flavor to it. The little fried cheese appetizers are a delicious compliment to the Falafel. read more
