Recently did carry out from Falafel X. Historically, one of our favorites carry out spots. The Beirut burger is a go-to order. A great combination of flavors. This time though, a bit lacking with the avocado and other toppings. I also ordered the Hamsa bowl. While it was delicious, the price point of $15 is a bit much. Wings were a good size and were nice and juicy. I enjoyed the seasoning blend on them. The garlic wasn't overwhelming and it had hints of lemon. The fries were nicely seasoned as well and the ketchup was on the sweeter side but paired nicely with them.  The hummus was also really good and fresh. Checked out this little spot in Avondale. I appreciate that it's easy to park here. Plenty of parking across the street. Service was friendly and helpful. I love the covered outdoor space. Hummus was smooth and tasty with plenty olive oil and a nice presentation. I tried a rosé from Turkey. It was very light and refreshing. Also ordered the Palestinian chicken panini. Very well seasoned. I added some hummus to it to have a "sauce". Ended with a kunefe donut that was so tasty! I had kunefe in Turkey and have had a hard time finding it here. Finally got to experience the awesome ambiance at the FxB and ordered the House special with lamb as most dishes are served with Falafel-chickpeas, parsley and over 10 spices, a yummy staple from the Middle East. We got Hummus, Marinated Olives, Green Shatta and Tzatziki housemate with Levantine sauces. They are really delicious. What stood out the most was the Crispy Fried Brussell Sprouts for $9.95. They have several menu options other than falafel, but since that is what I came in for, that is what I ordered. I ordered the falafel in pita. They have a great topping bar that is included in the price for some of their items (not all, so be aware). The falafel was good. The topping bar was great. Lots of selections such as pickled cabbage, tahani, olives, picked veggies, feta cheese, a couple of other sauces, pickled cauliflower, garbanzo beans, eggplant, seasoned cucumbers, fresh tomatoes and probably some things I am forgetting. I was a little disappointed that the pita bread was not toasted or warmed. The falafel was moist inside and crispy outside, and the toppings added a nice compliment to the meal. She recommended the Palestinian Chicken and the Pa-tots-ta Harra. Unfortunately, they ran out of the chicken after we ordered and replaced it with the Lamb Kafta Kebab Plate. FOOD: My husband and I ordered the Hummus, Pa-tots-ta Harra, Lamb Kafta Kebab Plate, and the Gyro Pita. The hummus was good; it came with a good amount of pita, which was good. The Pa-tots-ta Harra was AMAZING!! I didn't think it was spicy, despite what they indicated. This was the best item we ordered in my opinion. The Gyro Pita was good, although a little too much tzatziki for my liking. I enjoyed their fries, which came with the meal. My husband got the Lamb Kafta Kebab Plate and we were not as pleased with this item. First, the "Plate" wasn't really a plate (aka meat, side, etc.). My husband and I were a bit disappointed as he was missing like a side of rice or salad or both with the plate. You can see in the picture it's a pretty bare meal option. I like to eat healthy lunch and FXB has done amazing vegan options, but in three trips i have not found anything i love. It is in the spot vacated by Chomp Chomp, with plenty of parking on the street. Service could not have been more friendly or more helpful which was important since I wanted help with the menu items. While I waited, they gave me some sample from the buffet bar, which was more like a toppings bar. Some people may think it odd, but I thought it was genius. I like things that may a spot unique. So here are some of the buffet bar toppings I tried: Eggplant - crispy on the outside, tender inside Pickled Turnips - INCREDIBLE, and I don't like turnips Pickled Cauliflower - good, but not as flavorful as the turnips. Probably because the cauliflower does not easily absorb the marinade. For my entree I ordered the Jerusalem Burger with seasoned fries. The fries were crisp and delicious and needed no ketchup or condiments to be good. The Jerusalem burger was just not my cup of tea. It was very dry, had little sauce and had a spice level that was above my pay grade. It was well prepared and I am sure others would like it. Ditto with my other two visits, food was okay but just not as good as competing restaurants in this area. By far the best thing for me was the toppings bar, it really rocks. Wow I LOVE this place! I visited for the first time a few months ago during one of their free wine tastings on a Saturday. The inside of the fast casual restaurant is small, but there is a huge covered patio with plenty of tables. I was there when it was chilly and when it was hot and they had both heaters and ceiling fans to regulate the temperature. We planned on just getting a few snacks with some wine, and the "soufra" platter was perfect. It came with a Palestinian chicken panini (that my boyfriend enjoyed), falafel, pickled vegetables, lentil croquettes, hummus, labne, and fries. We also tried the brussel sprouts which were incredible. I eat mostly a vegetarian diet and eat hummus almost every day. The homemade hummus at falafel x bar is the best I've ever had. I am obsessed. I wasn't familiar with labne, but it reminded me of whipped ricotta. I absolutely loved it! The owners and staff really makes this place so amazing. On to the wine! They have a huge selection of natural wines and are knowledgeable about every single one. Be sure to check out their shelf of discounted wines too.
