So I would like to update this review because there have been significant changes over at…read moreBarsculpt. I was a long-term customer there, with a regular weekly schedule and LOVED the class itself and my usual instructor. The owner very recently downsized to a small studio which made for some really inconvenient changes that are really hard to ignore. The first is parking, the old location had a decent amount available, but the new space in the State Theatre building does make it challenging if you're commuting. The second is the price hike. I used to get my 5 class pass for barre only for $55, which was a steal. Totally would have been okay with a reasonable update to align with competitors but it was hiked to $100 for a 5 class pass, which is really unreasonable in my opinion. Granted this price includes reformer and barre, but for someone who doesn't do reformer classes it's definitely not worth it. The last piece is the class times. They used to have a wide variety and I always had at least 4-6 people in my 5:30p classes. The new space only has classes until 12-12:30 which is truly not helpful for people with jobs! Overall, still a huge fan of barsculpt as a class but not a fan of the new space or business practices.

I've been going to Barsculpt for both its barre and pilate reformer classes for two years now and…read moreI still find the workouts challenging and engaging. ALL of the teachers are great. I like this place so much I bought a gift certificate for a friend so she could join me. She now goes as much as I do. She LOVES it. Confession: for a long time, I did not exercise (other than walking everywhere) because I found it boring. The workouts at Barsculpt always change. It is truly never the same thing twice. It's always a challenge. Going to Barscuplt not only help me get in the best shape of my life, it has help me calm down, feel centered, and more connected to the community of Portland. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Just like Heather, Denise is extremely knowledgeable and passionate. Location - This studio has the perfect location in downtown Rochester. Free street parking (or free parking lot behind the Revolution restaurant for a quick walk to the studio). Cost - Reasonable. Packages to fit your budgets: drop ins, punch cards, monthly memberships. Atmosphere - Such a welcoming place regardless of your experience with yoga. Judgement free. Relaxing (candles, essential oils, dim lighting, light music). So many props available to use - yoga mats (if you don't have one!), different types of blocks, blankets, two types of bolsters, straps, eye pillows, muscle roller balls. And the teachers explain how to use the props in various different ways to help your practice. Benefits - Love the schedules, some early classes and night classes.. Love the lunch time classes for a quick pick me up. Knowledgeable teachers that are not intimidating! Open dialogue with the teachers which is great when you have a sore muscle telling them allows them to add something special into the practice just for you and your needs. The variation of classes really allows you to challenge your body and mind in different way from Pilates - gentle yoga - mediation! Go check out this studio - it will not disappoint.
