I have been religiously coming to Sandy for about eight years, receiving both waxing and facial services. Truth be told, I should add "therapist" services to this list as Sandy is a truly warm and caring person and will listen to me go on ad nauseam about literally anything and everything for which I need to vent. She will not rush a client out the door when they need to talk, even if she has another client waiting. I was actually in the salon receiving a waxing when "Sindy" (previous one-star Yelp reviewer) came for her appointment. Due to the need for privacy, and also because of COVID, Sandy only has one client in the salon at a time. She keeps the front door locked as she doesn't want other people like delivery men walking into the salon when she is servicing another. The Yelp reviewer "Sindy" who left Sandy a one-star review (please don't confuse her with Sandy) started texting about ten minutes before her appointment to let Sandy know she was there. Mind you, Sandy has on a rubber gloves and a face mask at this time and is very busy focusing on my lady parts, and not her phone (I had been running a few minutes behind, and Sandy was hurrying to finish my treatment). In the few minutes it took her to finish me up and head out to address this client while I dressed, "Sindy" had knocked several times on the door and sent no less than FIVE separate texts, the last at 3:17 (her appointment was at 3:15) stating that, if Sandy didn't respond, she was leaving. Sandy walked out to the front porch, and I could hear "Sindy" immediately begin to raise her voice at her, telling her how she needs to run her business differently, answer her texts, etc. Sandy calmly explained that she had a client getting dressed and she'd get her in as soon as the room was sanitized and re-set for her. This was not good enough for "Sindy". She continued to berate Sandy until Sandy finally told her that she thought they had better just cancel the appointment as they obviously were not going to "click" as aesthetician /client. Sandy kept her head and addressed the matter in a professional way. She could easily have snapped back at this person who obviously wasn't going to use her services anyway, but she didn't. As a small business owner myself, I can tell you that I also wouldn't want a client such as that in my office, and I think that she received the result she deserved from her behavior. read more

I initially reached out to the owner of NouVeau Skin Studio (Sandy) via email, which she never replied to. I waited about a week, no response. Since I saw that she responds to messages on Yelp, I e-mailed again (this time on Yelp). She requested for me to text message her so we could schedule an appointment for my mom (I was trying to treat her with a facial for her retirement). I texted her and waited a day for her to respond. We finally set up the appointment for my mom, which was scheduled for this afternoon. After driving from Concord to pick up my mom and then directly to NouVeau Skin Studio (in Vacaville), we were about seven minutes late due to traffic. After parking, I received a text message from NouVeau's owner asking if we were on our way. I texted her saying that we just parked. The doors were locked when we tried to enter the establishment. We knocked on the door twice, but no one responded. I kept texting her, which she read my messages as I sent them (thanks to the read receipts on iPhones), but did not respond. I got her voice message, which said that she planned on leaving if my mom didn't show up within five minutes so she could "run errands". Meanwhile, my mom and I were trying to make sure we were at the correct location since the doors were locked and no one was responding to us. We went around to the salon next door to see if that was the correct location; however, the wonderful person at the salon told us that NouVeau Skin Studio was two doors down (the initial location that we were at). After several text messages trying to get some direction from the owner (who again was still reading my text messages as I sent them), I called her but she didn't answer my call. Eventually, I text her asking to respond so my mom and I can just leave. She responded saying "yes". Honestly, I should've just kept looking for a more professional skin care specialist for my mom's retirement gift. I'm glad that other people had better experiences than I did, but I thought today was completely ridiculous. Zero out of five stars, but unfortunately, Yelp won't allow me to give this much deserved rating. read more

I called first but no one answered so I just ran over. I didn't realize it was by appointment only but I told Sandy I had called & she said she could still see me. I waited about 5 minutes. Sandy did a great job on my eyebrows! I had been growing them out because European Wax Center totally messed them up so Sandy gave me some advice on growing & taming. I went and got my first facial with Sandy almost a week ago. She was very prompt in her responses when I reached out to schedule, and even ended up getting me in sooner than initially expected because of a last minute cancellation. From the moment I arrived and walked in the door I felt very comfortable. She was very kind, warm and welcoming. My facial was nothing short of AMAZING. I was so relaxed and almost fell asleep a couple of times. She explained what she was doing, and even offered skincare tips/suggestions after my facial. Wow, this was the worst and most ridiculous owner I have ever come across. My appointment for a facial was for 3:15pm. I arrived to the location on time and extremely excited since there were some good reviews about her facials. However, upon arriving, it was 3:05 and I thought maybe I could go in and use the restroom since I'm early. The door was locked, so I thought ok, I'll just wait until 3:15. I text her saying that I'm at the front door and here for my appointment. As 3:15 comes, no answer and no one to be seen. I decided at 3:17 that I'll text her if I don't hear from her in 5 mins, I'll just leave. Obviously because I didn't know how much longer I'd have to wait or if anyone was even there! She finally came out at 3:22, right before l left and said "Hi, are you Sindy? Just wait out here a minute, I'll be right with you". I thought ok, she's obviously finishing up, I'll wait a couple more mins. Then get this! Not only is she not sorry, she had the audacity to come back out and said that it's probably better if we reschedule because she doesn't want to work on me since we started off "not clicking". Hahahaha wow. Not only does she not care where her clients are driving from (I don't live that close to this business) or how long they waited for the appointment, which should have been ON TIME anyways. If you know you're running late for an appointment, isn't it only right to call your client and let them know? She then proceeded to have all these excuses and finally said it's going to be cancelled. Will never ever come back here or refer any of my friends here. I am all about supporting local and family owned businesses, but she is too much. I encourage others to watch out for this type of person. Also, about the Yelp reviewer Jaime J., what a lair she is! Saying that I raised my voice to Sandy immediately. I never even raised my voice, and as I said, I was still willing to wait while she finished up her client after the first time she came out. Mind you, this is being that she is already late for my appointment. I'm sure Jaime as a business owner herself should know the importance of time management and keeping the client's appointment on time. When Sandy came out the second time, that's when she told me all these excuses about how she's rarely ever late, blah blah blah, instead of just apologizing and continuing with our appointment. How hard is that? Apparently, she didn't even think she was in the wrong. So, I'm not surprised she has clients like Jaime, who are willing to review and LIE about how this whole situation went. Both as business owners should not have this kind of mentality towards clients/customers and definitely should not lie for each other just to make your business look like it's in the right. Excellent service and incredible results; definitely coming back! The facial I had with Sandy was the first facial I ever had and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. A coworker of mine recommended her services and I had to try them out. She targeted my problematic areas by unclogging my pores, and gave me what seemed to be a customized facial based on the little I told her about my face that I wanted treated. Sandy also recommended using a alcohol free toner and a couple other beauty tips that I immediately started implementing in my daily routine. I have never been waxed before beside my face but as my first time I am EXTREMELY happy that I saw Sandy. I was definitely nervous and jumpy especially I was feeling a bit insecure because I'm not the fittest person but she definitely made me feel comfortable and I soon became relaxed. Wow. One of the best waxing jobs I've ever had down there. Sandy uses hard wax (which is what I prefer, but not everyone has). When she pulled, it felt like little pinches and it wasn't agonizing pain (Think 40-year old Virgin). I was even conversing with Sandy throughout.
