I had radiation @ St Mary's Oncology Radiology with Dr Sharma for pain in my lower back & hip. I had no idea that the radiation was going to do so much damage to my hip! No one told me that at the end of my radiation txs I would need a hip replacement!! My hip was fine before the radiation! A few weeks later was when the pain really started & after 2-3 months it was unbearable!! Dr Gunzenhaeser - Orthopedic Surgeon told us that my hip was the worst hip he had ever seen & he didn't know I could walk with it! Two different times Christy helped by moving my surgery date & time forward, faxing my Physical Therapy orders & all of the other things that needed to be done quickly. Christy is very knowledgeable & she definitely goes above & beyond. If it wasn't for Christy's constant monitoring in my chart & checking in with me many times- my experience @ Beacon's wouldn't have been so smooth! Anyone involved in any time of athletic activity should go here. All the therapists here are DPTs…read moreand understand that your goal is to get back into your sport, and won't limit your body to "ideal" movements. You won't be told that it's bad to squat below parallel, or put your arms up past your shoulders. I've heard both of those statements from other places, unfortunately, no sport follows those movement patterns. They stay on top of current best practices in therapy, and do a great job of getting you out of there as soon as you're ready. If you're scheduled for 10 visits, but you've cleared all of their tests to graduate therapy in 7 visits, they won't waste your money making you come in another 3 times. I'll absolutely be back here should I get injured again.
