The place has been here for years but this was my first visit. It's located in a plaza on the south side of Hwy 7 so there's private parking. As you come in, there's the bar and the entrances to both the main and private party dining rooms. We were quickly greeted and given our choice of seating in either room, as the private party room had only a small birthday party in a little section. We could enjoy a colder temperature in the private room, or average room temperature in the main room where it would be less noisy. We chose the main room and it wasn't uncomfortable. Our host provided our menus and gave a choice of bottled, mineral, or tap water. Tap water in stemmed glasses with ice was fine with us. To my surprise, it came with a full basket of complimentary bread, butter and spicy oil. I have not seen this for years and we appreciated it. We ordered a rice balls (4 pcs) appetizer which came with marinara. They were a good size and had some cheese pull. Our entrees were a Ricky pizza (one of their 20 specialty pizzas); chicken parmigiana; and home made pappardelle with chicken and pesto cream sauce. Our orders were served within a few minutes of each other, all huge, and piping hot. We were offered additional grated cheese tableside. Besides our host, the owner (I assume) came round to serve my husband's Montecristo cocktail and wish him a happy birthday. He continued to check in along the way as well. This restaurant reminds me of being in Calabria at eateries just like this, meaning, the Italian equivalent of the British neighbourhood pub experience. There are families with children who may roam, groups of ladies getting together for a meal, singles having their pizza and beer after work, all in a space that somehow makes you aware of being connected in your mealtime. The food is what you may remember enjoying as a kid at your Italian friend's house: nonna's home made everything, from the bread and oil to the pasta and tomato sauce. It's not fancy, it's plentiful and hearty home food. The tomato sauce is fresh, exactly what all my family produces from their own jarred tomatoes. My chicken was cooked through without being dry. The pizza was nicely crisp and charred, straight from their wood oven. The pesto cream pappardelle was delicious, with plentiful pieces of grilled chicken. Both my daughter and I had half our meals left to enjoy later. You can order half portions for half the price. My husband managed to devour his whole pizza. He even ate the crust - which he never does. We didn't order wine or dessert as that was waiting at home. I didn't think to check if they offer any prosecco besides the basic wine list but their website is very well done, so I will look again, because I would definitely return. It will be like being back in my family town in Italy.

I absolutely loved the soup of the day: Minestrone. It was so hearty, delicious and filled with so much ingredients. The beet salad with arugula and feta cheese was delicious. The Genoa pizza was nice and thin, and loaded with pesto, pine nuts, chicken, mushrooms and cheeses. I would definitely come back to try more items on the menu (I'm eye that risotto our friend was having that day lol). Can't wait to come back!

I brought a group of 12 for a birthday dinner, and from the moment we arrived, we were treated with utter contempt by a server named Gustavo, who apparently also owns the establishment. After our appetizers arrived, he completely abandoned the table. Our used plates were never cleared, we were never asked how the food was, and we waited over an hour for our main courses. When we tried to order another round of drinks while waiting, Gustavo told us he was "way too busy" to take our order and that we "needed to figure it out" despite us being ready to order. When I politely mentioned that I hadn't ordered an appetizer and was very hungry, asking if my pizza could come out, he snapped, "You will get your order when all the others come out. I'm not going to push ahead your order for that." The "owner" then had the audacity to lecture us, raising his voice and telling us, "this is what I mean with you guys," because we had adjusted our seats at the beginning of the night. When I finally asked for the bill to escape the situation, he brought me someone else's check. When I pointed out the error, he blamed us again, laughed in our faces, and scoffed. When we told him we wanted to speak to someone above him, he condescendingly told us, "You're not in this industry, you don't know." Save your money and go somewhere where the staff, and the owner actually value their customers. Gustavo is unprofessional, disrespectful, and has no business being in the hospitality industry. Absolutely disgusting behavior.

While the value is there purely because of Summerlicious, the quality of food and service is not in sync with the normal prices charged. The prix fixe courses started with a salmon tartar and my son's deep fried oyster mushroom. Deep fried mushroom is probably not something I would order out, unless it came as a piece from a tempura dish at a Japanese restaurant. I do have to say the mushroom was the best dish out of everything we tried during the evening. The batter was light and although the seasoning was simple, it did its job. Sadly, i couldn't say the same about the vegan lime aioli which tasted like tartar sauce. It just did not pair well with the mushroom. Salmon tartare was disappointing as the taste of capers dominated the whole thing. The whole thing was too sour for my personal taste. Before our starters were done, the server ushered in the main dishes. Why would they do such a thing without asking the patrons? And when the server saw my son's unfinished plate of mushroom, he asked if he can take it away (half of the mushrooms were still there). Wouldn't it make more sense to ask if we are still working on it or whether we preferred it packed away? A critical error that was made was when my son ordered his steak. The server didn't even bother to ask how he would like the steak done. Is it because he's a kid, he doesn't get a choice? Disappointingly the steak came out well done. The salsa verde which we enjoyed salvaged the steak, but I could also tell that they used a significantly inferior piece of meat. The salmon con miele was ok, but it is leaning closer to the overcooked side of the spectrum. There was nothing special about the dish at all. I wouldn't say it would be significantly better than what I can do at home (not that I'm an exceptional cook). Dessert was decent. Nothing jumped off the page. Sticky toffee pudding has never been my cup of tea. So all I can say is, it's too sweet for my liking. The coconut pie is ok. The coconut flavours were mainly engineered from the shredded coconut. All in all, an unmemorable dinner that I definitely wouldn't pay full prices for.
