Meh, honestly if I'd known what i know now when I chose to eat at Novella I would have just ordered Wendy's or gone to CIBO Express. I travel alot, and when I do I'm normally on the side of just grabbing something quick, inexpensive ( For an airport anyway ) and trying to travel as incident free as possible. This time around I was stuck in Newark airport for about 6 hours until my connecting flight and decided what the heck, i'll sit down and order. Chose Novella as it looked like it had a decent selection and offered items other than the usual Airport Burgers / Sandwiches etc. You have to order using a QR Code on the table, fine. I ordered the Goat Cheese, Arugula Pizza with a drink. I hate when they don't give you a choice but to Tip BEFORE you order food but I had no choice. So I ordered my food and a Coke. My drink came within a couple of minutes, then I waited....and waited....and waited. About 30 minutes later ( this is mid afternoon and I was one of only around 5 or 6 tables occupied ) my food finally arrived. It was fine, a little on the bland side but tasted somewhat fresh. But for almost $40 for an average Pizza and drink it just seemed a waste. I'll just spend half that and get a CIBO Sandwich, or Wendys next time. Newark airport offers many food eateries - however they are all very high priced. So walking into that scenario, one would think you get great value for your money - so so. I ordered a large beer since I had a long layover - it came in a warm glass and thus didn't stay cold very long. I order quesadilla and fries. I am not a ketchup person so asked for salsa and sour cream, anticipating the quesadilla. No salsa available! And they ran out of sour cream. This eatery is across from gate C75, in terminal C, at Newark Liberty International Airport. You could sit at any of the tables and order from a tablet. As soon as we were seated, an attendant asked if they could wipe our table and placemats down. The menu has drinks/eats and has a wide variety of selections, from seafood, pizza, salads, and burgers. Our drinks were well prepared and we were able to choose the ingredients of our Margherita Pizza. We chose the goat cheese and arugula. The pizza was served at the perfect temperature and we enjoyed it, very much. We were not offered any water, utensils, and we had to ask for an additional plate, so we could share the pizza. Overall, we did enjoy the meal and enjoyed the people watching. It is a nice place to visit, before your flight. You will receive the perfect portions, in order to tie you over, until your next destination. read more

If you say your open and sit a patron down and serve them a beer and take their food order? Why would someone come screaming at Stanley? A lady in yellow came by yelling at the entire staff in front of me over a gentlemen who ordered beer and food. A lady was yelling at 11:20pm at a nearby gentlemen as I sat at my gate. I could even hear him wondering how they had to refund his beer. Then 10 minutes later the yelling lady in yellow with braids helps him get a beer. The staff looked very uncomfortable, the gentleman seemed ok with it and was very polite. The lady in yellow seemed to have calmed down as he paid his bill and left. Very disturbing to see that this how you can be treated as a tourist trying to enjoy your vacation. Then as you depart from New Jersey you get a great look at how they treat you at the airport here. read more

Reviews for this place are rather harsh. The pizza was not bad at all and cooked well done as we asked. Took about 20 min but the pizza goes in an actual fire. No microwaved pizza here. The cook had a headache and was working at the speed of light. Hope his headache went away. Some vibey music here - felt like I was still in Jamaica. Ya Mon. The salads looked really good! Bartender didn't notice my drink order but she was kind so it's whatever. $13 for a beer isint convenient but hey - typical airport prices. I have never been so appalled in my entire life. There was a waitress who yelled at a friend and myself to get in line. My friend got in line. I sat down to look at the menu at a table that she said was not cleaned( look at pictures) it clearly stated that the table was clean. She kept yelling about her not serving us. My first time passing through Newark Liberty International Airport - Terminal C. I sat down to eat at Novella - located in Terminal C. Of course, there are iPads everywhere in food establishments to place your order, check your flight status, read the news, utilize social media, and more. I used the iPad ordering system to order a Burger - Medium, with cheddar, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion - no bun - and a side greens salad. You pay with a credit card - there is a physical card swipe reader mounted next to the iPad. 10 minutes or so later - my burger was delivered. It was cooked perfectly and was really tasty! Kinda weird to order a bloody mary and receive tomato juice and maybe some vodka in it. I mean, if that's your thing and you want to blow $90.oo then YOU would prolly give this 5 stars. However, for a person like me and the 2 other people I'm with, then this place isn't a place i would recommend. Oh! I almost forgot we got the fried artichoke hearts too! The picture and write up made them sound delicious! So with these gloriously described and photographed artichokes, if you're looking something tepid in temp and soggy-moist-floppy in texture then this is definitely the appetizer you want! Highly recommended for people that like baby food in a jar! Novella does get the last laugh because, as is the case with nearly every airport, they took so long to bring the drinks and food that we had to pound and stuff and run to the plane. The older blonde server that was serving the main dining room was absolutely unprofessional and borderline disgusting. Super rude behavior and it almost seemed as if she was angry at the world. The bartender tried his best and made a decent margarita which was worth 19 dollars. I am writing this review because our server asked us to...after he brought out my undercooked flatbread and while my fellow diners waited an additional 15 minutes for their meals. Okay, here goes! My husband asked for cheese on his omelette, which they forgot. They instead added it to my friend's omelette. He received his replacement omelette 15 minutes later, meanwhile, his toast was now missing from the "new and improved" plate. Instead of just bringing him some toast, they wanted to take his plate again. He asked if he could just receive the toast on a separate dish since we had a flight to catch (crazy concept at the airport, I know...having to catch a flight). He made the mistake of ordering a Bloody Mary, and that took an additional 20 minutes. He had to ask our server for the status of it twice. The four of us just shook our heads the entire time. Having to say to your server, "I have to catch a flight" at the AIRPORT is beyond asinine. We spent an hour and a half at Novella. It was 7:00 AM when we were seated and we were 4 of 7 other people at this "restaurant". We finally made it to the gate while our group was already boarding. We were all in vacation mode so we took this ridiculous experience in stride. Had this been work-related travel, then you can bet your hiney I would have been pissed. Avoid Novella at all costs. There are tons of other options in the immediate area. And their tablet forces you to tip 18% for abysmal service. Classy! read more

I'm just going to say, we should've read the reviews first. We sat down at a table at Novella. The bartender came over and told us to scan the QR code on the table to order what we wanted. I scanned the code at my seat and placed a food order for the 3 of us. My friend asked the waiter if he could order directly through the waiter and they said no, it's only possible through scanning the app. His wife scanned the code at her seat at our table, and ordered him a beer, as his phone wasn't pulling up the menu. The beer came quickly. We waited for our food, very patiently, might I add. They brought us cups of water while the food was being prepared, which was nice. While we waited, my friend wanted to order another beer and again asked if it was possible to just order the beer verbally, since it took him so long to order the first time and the waiter was so bothered by the question he barked back and demanded the phone be handed to him so he could place the order in "less than a minute". The waiter was so rude. He then goes to bring the beer. They apparently didn't have the beer anymore so came back and he advised him to pick a different one. So he did, not a big problem. We were still waiting for our food, but thought it was odd that none of the workers seemed to be doing "food prep" related things. The waiter was on his phone, which is fine. It was pretty late and they weren't busy by any means. After 40 mins we were starving and figured we should ask about the status since we still hadn't received any update and had a flight to catch. We call the waiter over and ask if he knows how much longer it will be since we have to go soon. He immediately gets defensive and tells us we never ordered anything. I assure him that we did and open the confirmation email and show it to him. He goes "this is not this restaurant". He says "if you look at the barcode on the table it says the name of the restaurant. Your receipt says "Bar Right" and that's your fault that you didn't scan the correct barcode." He kept saying that it was our fault. We told him we literally scanned the code at the seat I was at and that's the menu it pulled up. The bartender then decides to chime in and asks "oh was that your food? We had an order for Bar Right that we made and we sent over to them, but no one ever picked it up. So it's sitting on the counter but it's cold now. We called out for you at the other restaurant but figured you just left. It happens pretty often." Honestly, why would we leave over $100 worth of food, that we already paid for, behind? Especially without telling any staff that we couldn't wait. My friend was like why didn't you ask us, if it happens all the time? Again the waiter comes back into the convo and says its our fault. With the situation escalating, I'm assuming she was a manager, a young lady in chefs clothing that was behind the bar, begins to talk to us and attempts what she thinks is a professional resolution of "we apologize that you had a mix up, but you need to leave, we hope you have a safe flight and a good evening". It was the most condescending, insincere "apology" that you could tell she believed was her effort in defending her staff. I think at that point the bartender realizes how frustrated we are and he tells us we can request a refund through the app and tries to explain that people make that mistake of ordering off the wrong menu all the time. We were just so done with the situation, we wanted to leave so we did. It was a horrible occurrence that makes us never want to fly through Newark again. None of the employees were nice. The waiter was extremely rude, and now I'm just waiting on the refund for the food we never received. read more

The Novella located in Terminal C at Newark Airport (EWO) is not worth your time or one-tenth the cost! The service was extremely slow, the food was low quality and tasted bland, and...if you don't pay attention, the system will hit you with an 18% gratuity! The food was not prepared until after one hour when we asked for a status. I had the Cuban sandwich and a Lagunitas IPA. They had to go to another shop and walk the beer back to our table. It was luke warm. The Cuban was bland and cool (not hot). I asked for spicy brown mustard, and they brought out packets of yellow mustard. My wife had the grilled cheese on sourdough and Tomato Bisque. The grilled cheese was Velveeta and the bisque was canned tomato soup. The system generated a tip without my approval. When I questioned the manager about the unapproved tip, he was rude... Do not waste your time. Walk another 50 yards in any direction and you will fare better. read more

I sat down and ordered the "pollo al horno" and patiently waited understanding that many places are short handed right now. 35 minutes later, I had not even been served a glass of water, so I got up and found the server. She said she'd check on the order...a few minutes later she came back and said that the chicken wasn't available. Yep, had I not inquired, apparently no one would have told me that the outrageously expensive chicken I ordered wasn't even available. No one checked, no one seemed to really care. Just wait, it gets worse. They then offered to replace my order with salmon...I agreed since the salmon on the menu looked good (see picture below for what was on the menu). ANOTHER 25 minutes later, they bring out a plate of mixed greens with a small piece of salmon that was pale, had no seasoning, and appeared to be prepared in a microwave. It was absolutely disgusting, but at this point my flight was about to board and I had no time to track someone down to discuss the situation. I ended up getting snacks on the way to my flight. In summary, I paid $35 (including tax and the advance tip) and waited over an hour for an inedible meal and then subsequently had to buy $20 worth of trashy snacks as my lunch while running to my flight. read more

Trisha and Daniel were so friendly and VERY attentive. I got pizza, which was so fluffy and yummy. The goat cheese was roasted just the way i like it and they even were able to get me a small cup of balsamic glaze to drizzle over the pizza. The prices are pretty steep, but my 20% off thanks to the explorer card and mileage plus help. 10/10 would recommend. read more
