Friendly Staff, Great food, and quick service. I'm having a bite before I hop on my flight & I'd 100% suggest stopping here if you want a well portioned meal and some good coffee. I had scrambled eggs, potatoes, and a nice side of bacon and whole grain bread w/ butter & it was all fantastic. The bacon was cooked to perfection, and eggs were as well. In airports I always feel like I get small portions and it leaves me starving when I hop on early flights, but they have a perfect amount. Bartender who was of color was extremely rude to myself and my partner. And nice to the patrons who were white. Which was very off putting to me. We were sitting at the bar trying to figure out how to order and once we settled on our choice and paid the bartender told us we should leave and we're taking too long. Mind you we probably had been sitting for no more then ten maybe fifteen minutes. I had then told him I just ordered and he said we were taking too long and sitting here for 30 min and to leave. And kept talking over me and kept telling me to leave. All because a white man was looking for a seat at the bar. If I hadn't paid for my food I would have left. When are we going to stand up to this tyranny of iPad ordering? Worst pasta I've ever had. Like queso dip drizzled on top of garbage. Worst meal I've ever had at an airport. That's saying something. The menu listed 6 components to my dish (Tagliarine Verde). The dish they served had 3. They literally forgot half the the dish. The people working there suck. I hate this place. The waiter checked out my bill for me and charged me over 30% tip. I had to get the manager to take it off. The food sucks and is nothing like in the pictures on the tablets there. The orders take forever to get done. And the waiter asked us multiple times what we ordered. I ordered it on the tablet and they still could not remember what I ordered....how stupid! If you complain, they will cause you to wait for quite a while to get a manager. They know most people are in a rush and won't wait so they take advantage and cheat people. read more

Welcome to OTG-managed Terminal C of EWR, where the snazzy counters look like trendy NYC bars, but behind the veil it's all one company, serving the same ingredients with slight tweaks. Or no tweaks at all, but a different name. I'll venture to say that the service and quality will vary hugely depending on location (pick quieter spots!) and how lucky you are with the employees working when you arrive. My brunch experience at Novella this bright Tuesday 10am was really great, albeit I'll admit my expectations for an airport meal are pretty damn abysmal. I got the Build-Your-Own Torta with fried egg, queso oaxaca, and chorizo which was really yummy. And the Rishi Jade Cloud green tea which is really high quality full-leaf tea. Came to ~$19 with tip before my United card discount and $15.50 with the discount. My server Terry was great and brought water even before I ordered on the iPad. She made sure I got what I needed and deserves props for this since service has been a consistent low point of all my Terminal C experiences thusfar. This place was awful. I usually don't like to post negative reviews, however, given how expensive this place is, I feel the need to warn others. You order on a tablet at the table and have to pay with tip before your meal is served. The majority of the food that we had, had obviously been cooked ahead of time. The sausage and bacon were dry, old and chewy. No water was served unless requested, which was difficult to find a server to request. No coffee refills. Small breakfast for 3 without alcohol was just shy of $90. I hope for their sake this was just an off-day. read more

Food was good. Servers were great. I stupidly ordered a sandwich close in time to my flight boarding. Of course that meant my flight would start boarding early. I told the servers and they tried to rush my order out. Unfortunately my husband was literally about to board so I told them I had to cancel my order before sprinting down terminal C. I made it to the gate and seconds later one of the waiters ran up right behind me with my food. That totally made my day! Walk on past. Really horrid food, and prices high even for airport fare. I ordered fried artichokes and the quinoa sofrito. Both are swimming in oil. The artichokes are like leather on the petal end and the hearts are oil soaked mush. The sofrito is heavy, oily, and dominated by the vinegar in otherwise tasteless pickled onions. The program automatically bills you 18% tip. (You can adjust this if you catch it soon enough.). Chorizo omelette is dreadful. It must be some sort of turkey chorizo to taste this bad. The omelette eggs are leaking, just ewe. The guacamole is out of a package. I received my tea in their time. After I waved someone down she told me she would tell the responsible one to get it. For an airport, not a bad experience. The seating was comfortable, the food arrived as expected, very quickly. My husband really enjoyed his sandwich which came with the option of side salad or fries. He did the salad and it was very fresh. I had the salad with chicken and blue cheese and it was fine. Not outstanding but definitely edible. The wine was really nice and a good sized glass. Our server was very friendly. AND you do have the option of changing the tip amount. It just defaults to 18% but you can change it. I would go again if I needed to have a meal or just wanted a glass of wine at the airport. read more

Pros: the pizza is good. Cons: A) I know it's all the rage to have people placing their own orders on iPads. I hate it for the following reasons: 1) even if you've been traveling for hours, or delayed for hours, or are on some different time zone entirely and can hardly see straight, it's still on you to figure out how to get your order right (when the sensitivity of the screen adds unwanted items to your order), how to get the machine to scan your boarding pass when the scanner won't work, etc... 2) if you have a question, more often than not, the server has to become the IT person and may or may not be qualified for that position. B)The service is inattentive at best, which you won't know until after your meal. However, you have to add the tip when you order, and the system defaults to 18%. Seriously?! C) If you mistakenly order something you didn't want, good luck getting it taken off your bill. Our server said he was waiting for the manager to "handle it", but they were having internet issues (for half an hour). And we had to catch a plane, so we left. D) The food is obscenely expensive. I highly recommend you go somewhere else, almost anywhere else. read more

I am writing this to dissuade others from dining here. The eclectic menu sounded good, and our food was mostly fine - but our server's rude behavior spoiled the whole experience and is directly responsible for this review. During my dining experience at Novella, it was not busy - several tables were open and servers were carrying along casually. Because this is an airport restaurant, I give prompt service a high priority. We ordered a salad, pizza, and iced tea. The salad took over 20 minutes to arrive. Our pizza arrived 15 minutes after that - and after other parties who ordered after us received their pizzas. In a typical airport dining experience, items are sent out much faster since people have flights to catch. This was not a typical airport dining experience. Our server never offered an excuse as to why our food took so long to come out. He never offered water. He never checked in after we received our food. He seemed to not even want to make eye contact. Other tables he waited on seemed to have their water topped up and were receiving their orders promptly. I'm not sure why he decided to treat us so shabbily. The openly neglectful - bordering on hateful - service was an awful experience for my party. Although I appreciate how hard service employees work every day - and tip generously - I regret leaving any gratuity for this man (the iPad-based ordering system requires it to be paid up-front). read more

I highly recommend this place! We had an early morning flight and got through TSA quicker than we expected and decided to stop for a quick bite. Im glad we stopped here because we got to meet Sonia. Sonia was so helpful! I automatically assumed since we had to order on the tablets we wouldn't actually be talking to a human being. Even though the tablets were there she still helped us order our breakfast and kept making sure everything was okay with us. (I'm now a pro at ordering on the tablets) If you want a dinning experience where you actually get to interact with a human being and get a GOOD quick meal I would highly recommend Novella. read more
