The pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. I come in here a lot to buy parts for both my hot tub (from true-value) and snowmobile oil, parts and accessories (from arctic cat). Every time I have been in I get helped very fast, in and out within a few minutes. They usually have everything I need in stock, and are able to order it within a few days if they do not.... Plus supporting local business is my favorite thing to do! The cons: not many. Sometimes hard to get ahold of them over the phone is the only thing I would say, so I recommend driving on over. 5/5 will continue to shop here! read more

Hardware inventory is pretty sparse compared to other True Value stores. Yard and garden side of the business is somewhat better stocked by comparison and prices are actually pretty good. Bought a new Husqvarna chainsaw from them and found out the hard way that they don't offer any post-sale support for it, they wouldn't look at it until I said I wanted a refund, then suddenly it was worth their time to try and help me get it to start and run. I returned to the shop after not hearing back from them, at which time I got my money back, but the experience left a bad taste. read more

Have bought both Arctic Cat parts and a snowmobile from these guys and they're just phenomenal people to work with. Will always shoot you straight, will help out where they can and offer all the advice you can ask for. A real gem in the motor sports business. read more

Being so much nowadays is word of mouth and social media reviews, I have to highly recommend Novotny in Johnsburg. Excellent customer service and great people to deal with. I brought in my snowblower for repair and I received an initial estimate that was a little more than what I wanted to spend based on the age of the snowblower, but I obviously need it for the weather. I was called back and told it wasn't as bad as first thought and would be a significantly cheaper repair. They could've easily stuck with the initial estimate, overcharged me and they didn't. This is how a business retains customers and gains more customers through referrals. So if you're looking for an honest shop, go to Novotny. Just my .02. read more

Brought my lawn tractor here for repairs because the blades were frozen and would not turn and I also gave them new blades to install.Upon the first attempt to pick it up, we started it and checked everyting out before leaving here, as soon as the blades were engaged, the belt came off. Ok no big deal I guess, the gentlman took the time to put the belt back on and away I went. The cost of this repair was $75.00 The next time I was cutting my grass the belt came off again. I called Novotny the next morning and they did sent someone out that night and they put the belt back on. The next week while cutting my grass the other belt came off, I called Novotny again and they came and picked up the lawn tractor and took it to their shop. This time the repair cost me $140.00 for a new belt and a bearing, they returned the tractor and while cutting my grass again something came loose and the blades started making loud noises and were sparking. Yes again I called Novotny and they eventually picked up the mower again, repaired it and returned it. When I spoke to Bobby at Novotny about all these issues, he told me my lawn tractor was the bottom of the barrel and that things will start coming loose. Funny for 4 years before Novotny worked on it, NOTHING CAME LOOSE. He further explained that what came loose this time was un-related to the work they had performed. Again each time they touched it, somethig else went wrong but its unrelated, hard to believe I feel. When I expressed my displeasure to Bobby and I told him I felt I was getting screwed, he said if I wanted to screw you I would have charged you for the last repair. He then proceeded to inform me that since I didnt like their work, moving forward I could take my business elsewhere. SO I SHALL I REPLIED. its a shame as just last year I bought a $1000.00 snow blower from him and this is the thanks I get. read more

I have never been so disrespected in my life - I would think a place like that would provide customer service/ I brought our chainsaw in on Sunday - I was told they didn't want to be bother because they close at 2and it was 1: 50 pm - he informed me he had a late lunch / early dinner to get to - and I was told they would call me on Monday - no call - I stopped today to be informed that the bar was an aftermarket bar and the chain doesn't fit that bar - I told him - your employee put that chain on it - his comment was that is why he doesn't work here any more / so they decided to order me a new chain and bar to the tune of $70 - without consulting me- I said - can't I get compensated for your person putting the wrong chain on ? I made the comment as I was leaving in a huff- he followed me out of the store to let me know he would compensate me for the chain but my business was no longer welcome there because of my attitude - I went back in and took our chainsaw home - he said fine with me -we don't need your attitude at our business / they obviously need a class in customer service - wow- very unprofessional. In my experience, if you have unhappy customer, you diffuse the situation by trying to rectify the situation without a sassy comment afterwards. You can have rude thoughts but should always have a filter on with dealing with the public. The public pays your bills and keeps your business open. read more
