We didn't know what to expect when walking into Now You're Cooking. We love "cooking" stores, but they're usually filled with overpriced items that can be found at a MUCH cheaper price online. This place was different -- they had so many kitchen gadgets at every price point imaginable, and they had so many cool items that you could not find online (or it would be more expensive). We were surprised by the size of the store. It's huge! If they don't have what you're looking for... then you probably don't need it. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We bought a book and a cheese grater that put our previous one to shame. We can't wait to return again when visiting Bath. read more

Although this Bath storefront is limited in space, they certainly make the most of every inch. This is a wonderful store to take your time in because there are so many hidden treasures- cookware, bakeware, cutlery, coffee, tea, and beer and wine, cookbooks, storage and prep, gourmet foods, linens, small appliances and tableware. They also offer cooking classes in their in house kitchen! The owners and staff are helpful and friendly. Parking can be a bit challenging, but the area is quaint and nice to stroll around. read more

My absolute favorite cooking store, so much that we drive all the way from south of Portland to visit it on occasion. It has to be smaller than the average Leroux Kitchen, but whether it's more neatly organized or they just carry more interesting stuff, it seems like Now You're Cooking really has it all. I love that they have many versions of one gadget at different price points. We needed a new garlic press and there must have been 7 different kinds, ranging from your cheaper OXO to $60 stainless steel versions. You can also buy almost any kind of small cookery appliance here, really nice knives, storage containers, even a room of tableware. And on top of all that, they have a great selection of beer, wine, some cheeses, spice blends, nice Little Red Cup teas out of Brunswick. It's glorious. Although it would be a stretch to call myself a cook or a baker, I still love these kinds of stores and this is the best of its kind that I've ever been in. I could spend hours in here and in fact did come back twice in one day. The staff is fantastic and it was a pleasure to meet Mike who I hadn't realized was the owner until I came on here to leave this review. One item I bought was clotted cream, something I've always wanted to try. Mike told me all about his upbringing on a farm and how his mother and he himself made their own clotted cream. I haven't tried it yet but will very soon! I wish I lived close enough to take some of their classes. read more

This is a great kitchen supply shop. All the things you want. Pots,pans,cookbooks, all the gadgets and a few extra things.They also have a nice selection of wines and a very small selection of craft beer. We bought two bottles of olive oil that we really enjoy and go back to have them refilled. We find that they also do a great job with knife sharpening. Great shop to pick up a gift! read more

There's a little bit of almost everything for cooking/dining at this store, except for the food itself -- a surprising variety for not-a-giant store. The prices were good and, based on the brands that I recognized, the things being sold seemed to be of excellent quality. The staff is also friendly and helpful. There're a few small parking lots nearby that didn't seem to be overly crowded, and lots of street parking. We visited on a rainy weekend, so I don't know what the parking situation would be like with nice weather though. read more

Bath is a great little town in coastal Maine and one in which we always stop when traveling north. And in a state where independent kitchen stores seem to abound, this is probably our favorite in all of coastal Maine. It's easy to navigate in here given that it's a large space with a wide open floor plan. No narrow aisles here where you worry about knocking something off a shelf. Toward the back of the store there is a full working kitchen that they use for cooking demonstrations. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. They stock absolutely every thing you could possibly be looking for and even things you didn't know you wanted. I bought a cotton terry drawstring bag that I'm in love with. It's for storing lettuce and other greens. What I do after buying my greens is wash them and spin them almost but not quite dry. I then place the greens in this cotton bag and store in the veggie bin in the fridge. The bag aids in keeping the greens crisp and fresh. Greens will wilt easily if they're dehydrated so keeping them slightly damp in the bag helps slow that process. (Hint: If you have wilted lettuce, try submerging it in a large bowl of water with a bunch of ice cubes in it. The greens should crisp back up in under an hour.) I'm an apron lover and I bought a pretty one here. While not vintage which is usually what I go for, it is both darling and practical. Can't ask for more than that. I bought an onion container that you use when you have a a cut onion left over. I got tired of using plastic wrap to cover the half of the onion not yet used. This perfectly sized cup is big enough for even large onions and has a special lid made so that the smell of the onion doesn't permeate the refrigerator while keeping the onion juicy. There is a very good bottle wine selection here so if you're vacationing in town and want a bottle of something for your picnic, this is your place. This is a good store for holiday and gift shopping too. I know I'd love a gift from here! read more

GREAT Cooking store with other fun things, like those tennis-racket-style bug zappers :) Look for the little sales sections along the edges. Quality items such as All-Clad, Cuisinart, Kitchen-Aid. An impressive selection of cordless electric tea kettles!! I never thought I would see them outside of the U.K., so excited they have them in their store. I will definitely be returning for one. They also sell, jams, jellies, spices cheese. I could go on and on, but really you should visit the store if you are in the area. Customer service was fantastic. We have been shopping at NYC for years and we've always enjoyed the quality and variety of the products. And the staff is universally nice and knowledgeable. Most recently we had an unusually great experience with one particular salesperson, Vanessa. We were having an ongoing problem with various makes of non-stick pans. She was exceptionally patient with us and rather than sell us something new, she taught us how to care for our pans and suggested a better technique for cooking eggs. She even took our two pans and cleaned them up!! We are so very grateful for her patience and the education. read more

This store is a lovely fixture on Bath's main street, and I have used it often. However, the most recent purchase I made (dishware) had absolutely awful price & code stickers on them, about the same quality as Walmart uses. What a disappointment. If I am to spend a good deal on dishware, I expect higher quality stickers which can come off easily. I had to soak these in hot water for minutes at a time, then scrape them off, and still the glue did not come off. Get with it!! read more

Can't get enough of this place! It has all the best quality kitchen and bath ware you could imagine and more! I feel like I could explore this place all day and never get bored (but I would probably be broke haha). The service is extremely friendly and helpful but for your own sake (and your wallet's) it's probably best to make a list beforehand so you don't get too caught up in the awesomeness. And to top it all off they have an amazing wine selection as well! I called in to request my new favorite Sauvignon Blanc called The Oyster (it's delicious and has a great local cause behind it) and they already had it in stock, this place does not miss any of the good stuff and that's why I love them!
