NRG is home to the Houston Texans and u recently visited to see the Texas state bobcats play Sam Houston. The stadium is very nice the first two floors were open with various concession stands open for food and drinks. The logistics of this place needs to worked out. There isn't a good place to get pulled up by an Uber. Just minor difficulties getting our ride overall it was a great experience to explore the city. read more

I was really excited for my first ever football game but was really surprised by the parking. I've been here for other events but the price of parking was basically the same price as my preseason ticket. And I had great seats. $50 parking was really outrageous. And it was still a 10 minute walk from there. I know, because we made the walk twice after they decline my entry. Apparently my fanny pack was too big of a bag. If it's not a clear bag, it can't be bigger than basically 3x5 inches. Typical stadium over pricing on food and drinks. $12 nachos, skimpy but tasty. I also got a frozen pina colada which was nice and strong but still ridiculously priced. The ground level seats were great with no obstructions. It was a great experience but would be nice not to have to spend so much at the stadium. read more

I basically had the time of my life at the New Kids on the Block concert at the Rodeo of 2023. I guess only 80s babies will understand why? I lived out my childhood dreams and enjoyed the entire show. New Kids can STILL sing and dance! All concerts at the Rodeo have a star shapped stage, so each fan gets views of the artists throughout the show. It's essentially spinning , so everyone has a chance to catch a nice view, and there should be no "bad seats." I enjoyed it. The large screens make it very easy to catch the action up close. Getting into the concert was easy enough. It was the getting out part that got a little wonky. read more

Since the stadium opened for the Texans 2002 season, I have been here for all kinds of events. #WeAreTexans! The new screens (installed several years ago) are huge! The retractable roof is rarely open during the Texans games. Parking is okay if you have a parking pass. For most events when you arrive via rideshare, the rideshare dropoff area is far and you still have to walk quite a bit. The clubhouse level (300s) are so nice! The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo is always a fun and busy event. read more

Once we got off the metro, we were directed with staff and signs on how to get to security and inside the NRG Stadium. They said everything is bigger in Texas and boy the fans and loud cheering for Texans V. Buccaneers were no difference. I'm not a fan of either teams but since vacationing in the area, I wanted to watch the game. The excitement here is unreal and fans were loud and crazy fun - painted their face/body/hair, dressed up in costumes, brought props - I'm sure the alcohol in their body aids the hype as well. The food and drinks at concession stands is no different than any other stadium. Junk food/soda/alcohol for more than double the price if you purchase it elsewhere. Lines to concession stands and restrooms are always long so get to it during the game time is probably best. Don't wait until halftime unless you don't mind the extra wait to moved and walk between the drunks and slowpokes. Overall, I had a great time here. Note: ladies, don't bring your handbag. Go online and read their bag policy. It must be certain size and clear bags is the way to go. I learned the hard way and was turned away at the bag check entrance and walked back to my car. read more

Because it's a bit bland, but I don't have any major complaints. --- --- --- I have been to all 30 MLB stadiums and several NFL/NBA venues, so I'd like to think if there's anything I have an above-average expertise in, it's this. My takeaway from NRG is that it was fine. Nothing really stood out to me as unique or incredibly cool, but there are basically no negatives either. The sound was a bit off, but I realize it's hard to get that perfect in a cavernous venue like this. And there wasn't really any character to speak of, but they did try to add some fun activities outside in the parking lot. There were several games for kids, with plenty of live music everywhere. I've been to NRG a few times before but it's probably been 10+ years before this most recent visit. This time, I scored free club-level seats and the experience was pretty flawless. We could order food/drink from our seat and a server would bring it to us. I didn't have anything, so I failed to take advantage of this. But I did like having a restroom that was about 50 feet from my seat and never filled up the way that the non-club restrooms do. There were also several bars and concession stands right next to us, but again, I didn't eat/drink. I didn't do much walking around inside the stadium, other than my walk straight to our section, but I probably didn't miss anything since the club-level is one of the nicest in the stadium. In the future, I'll be back for any Cleveland Browns game, but I have no interest in the other games. Truthfully, that would remain the case whether I loved or hated NRG Stadium. read more

Had the pleasure of attending the Texans/Commanders game during the weekend of November 20. Quite impressed with the layout of the stadium as it is clean inside, seats are large with space, and you get a good view of the field as our section was at the 10 yard line at section 130. The stadium was practically a Commander take over but still a handful of Texan fans to cheer their team (one of these days, they'll get it together). Food vendors are impressive with tex-mex and bbq options. Had the brisket sandwich from Killen's BBQ which I'm pleased they serve as part of the concessions. Alcohol prices are high ($11 for a beer) but that's to be expected at any sports stadium. We had parking passes in the blue lot which made it easy to park and tailgate and then leave without much trouble. Plus the staff was friendly and helpful. Being from the nation's capital and having been to Fed Ex field too many times, you appreciate a helpful stadium staff and clean functional aspects of the venue itself. No doubt I'll attend a game/event here again! read more

From the staff to the stadium grounds, everything was so incredibly memorable! I went here with a friend via an invite and we got a chance to attend the rodeos legendary BBQ cook-off competition tent! So much thought and care went into the bbq! The pit master himself came around our tent offering their award winning ribs and delicious desserts. I enjoyed the sides but that BBQ certainly knocked this stadium out of the park! My friend also had a fun pack and vouchers for carnival food! We ended up trying our first ever Nutella funnel cake! Who knew fried cake could taste so good! They had plenty of rides, and things to do around the rodeo to keep us busy when we were sitting out in tents. I loved my experience here!!! read more

I was here for the College Football Championship between University of Michigan and the University of Washington. It was a nice place to hold it. One great thing is that it is near a rail station--and at the end of the game that made a lot of cars available to accommodate fans. It is a bit of a walk, but not much worse than the parking lots. For a game like this, they were short of souvenir stands and they ran out of a lot of items. Things were better with the food items. The food was actually pretty good, particularly a pulled pork sandwich I had. This holds a lot of fans and it was loud. One issue was that it has a retractable roof, but it was leaking. The site lines to the field were good. Overall, a good place to see a game. read more

I got to go to the Rodeo for the first time ever! The place is huge!! The events are so serious and many companies and people are involved! Carnival was fun and the shows in the stadium were also awesome! I'm not used to attend a big event like this but once in awhile it's a good one! There are many food shops but they are almost all meat based so it's difficult to have meals as vegetarian plus foods and drinks are extremely expensive!! I guess that's everywhere at the stadium but I felt ripped off by paying $6 for a bottle of drink or water Anyways, if you'd like to see the rodeo, it's a great place to be! Come and be mesmerized! August 6, 2022 Drove in from Galveston to see Garth Brooks last concert tonight. He had 2 openers that came on before he did (don't remember their names) and he came on at 930p About 11p, his wife and singer, Trisha Yearwood came on to sing with him, so that was cool 95k people there... it was so humid outside that the AC had a hard time keeping up on the inside. Garth was drenched after 15 minutes and I had to change seats to a section that had empty ones because mine was next to a large woman and I was squished. What an incredible stadium. Beautiful inside. Somewhat difficult to navigate mainly because it is such a large stadium. So many food options including vegetarian and the lines moved quickly. But note this was a Christmas Eve day game. The staff were sooo friendly. Absolutely outstanding. We were rooting for the away team but every person that worked in that stadium was in party mode and greeted us with "Welcome to Game Day!" We pre-purchased parking which is very advisable. I've been to a lot of venues, but NRG Stadium might take the cake for worst overall experience. Let's start with the drink prices -- $15 for a beer when we walked in. Outrageous, right? Well buckle up, because as the concert started, that same beer magically jumped to $28. Not a cocktail. Not a double. Just a basic beer. Either the price tags were changing or someone behind the counter thinks they're selling liquid gold. Now onto the seating -- if you're over 5'8" or weigh more than a high school freshman, good luck. The seats are microscopic. I was basically sitting in a child's car seat, shoulder-to-shoulder with a guy who sounded like he snuck in a BBQ buffet under his shirt. I didn't get a concert -- I got 3 hours of elbow wrestling with Porky the Pig. For a place this big, you'd think they'd get the basics right. But between the absurd prices, sardine-can seating, and lack of crowd control, it was a hot mess from start to finish. Spend your money somewhere else. Or at the very least, bring your own seat and sneak in a drink -- you'll save a fortune and your dignity. read more

We came here for the College Football National Championship Game and was satisfied with the stadium. The parking lots are huge and sit squarely around the stadium so there is no street parking possible. The stadium is outside of the immediate downtown area. There is a light rail I am told that will drop you off right at the stadium. The ticketing process was through the app only and some people's apps wouldn't scan because of the rain and their phones were wet. Once through security, there is a covered escalator and walkway that takes you where you need to go based on your seats once you get inside. The food selection was just ok, I didn't see any specialty foods, just your basic stuff. The bathrooms were clean and the aisles and concourses were wide. We were up at the top and since the stadium is so steep, the sight lines were good, even for my child who wouldn't normally be able to see over anyone. Came for a Texans game, plenty to do outside the stadium before the game. Great modern stadium with great views no matter where you sit & plenty of clean restrooms. If you get tix in the 600 section be ready for a steep walk. It was also pretty hot up there. I purchased the chicken tender basket which the chicken was the equivalent to a MCD's chicken nugget... and when I asked to purchase a cup of ice, I was told I had to pay the price of a soda. I used a cup my bf had and grabbed ice from the soda fountain and no one batted an eye about it. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I've been here for several different events such as games, concerts, car shows, rodeo, etc and always have a positive experience. Get ready to do a lot of walking! read more

**This review is based on a pop rock/alt rock concert.** We had tickets several years ago to see Coldplay at Toyota Center. The concert was canceled, as Hurricane Harvey was just miles offshore. Two albums later, the band returned to the Bayou City. This time though, they played to an NRG Stadium audience. A friend warned me that the acoustics at NRG aren't all that. I would totally agree with her if we were talking Blues or even Elton John and his piano. For bands like Coldplay (or Journey, ZZ Top -- even Dave Matthews) this place is fine. Because of the spectacle that Coldplay likes to create during concerts, this uber-large venue is actually wonderful. My only complaint -- and I know that it's trite -- is the parking situation. NRG has plenty of it for sale, so long as you're willing to take out a loan. It's the same for the many private lots in the area. To park for an event here can very easily cost more than the ticket itself. We hired an Uber from the bay side of Houston, and it was cheaper than buying a spot here. Something is wrong with that picture. Alas, all of those grossly overpriced spots were filled, so this is merely a vent. Would I attend a concert here again? Sure. But I might rent a hotel room in the area for the night, as it would be cheaper than the parking here. read more

My first NFL game! I thoroughly enjoyed my NFL experience at the NRG stadium. I loved that the stadium was enclosed and the temperature inside was wonderful! Because they don't allow fans inside so it worked out. We had great seats and the suite seats have their own concession stands on their levels. You can roam from there to the main levels if you want. There were alot of fun activities going on to make a fun experience for everyone. Go Texans! read more

I came here today with my family and in-laws. The stadium is nice, but not as nice as the Dallas Cowboys stadium or as big either. Still it is a very nice stadium. Parking was a breeze but you pay good money for parking. It's worth the $50 honestly in my opinion. Getting in and out the parking lot of stadium was fun. They planned it out pretty well. Traffic getting out of the stadium was backed and to be expected. My reason for the three stars, was the concession stands. The seemed like it was microwaved and not even freshly made there. My funnel cake experience also wasn't the best either. Like I understand they have feed 80,000 fans if they are fully packed, but come on now. We (the boys) recently attended a Texans game and could not have had a better experience. We did an Uber ride share to and from and it was pretty painless. You are dropped off and picked up across from the Astrodome and it was a short walk to the entrance. There is plenty to do before the game with outdoor lounges, a kid zone, and even a cheerleader autograph kiosk. Comparatively speaking the ticket prices were reasonable for lower level goal line seats. The concessions are in Sync with other venues so be prepared for $10 plus beers and mystery meat sausages and hot dogs. The more beer you drink the less you notice the high prices and sub par fast food. Hey it's just plain fun to be at a game drinking a beer and chowing down a hot dog or 2. Speaking of food and beer there are plenty of options available but there are no vendors in the stands so plan your trips strategically. Fans were cool and no one was pi$$ed that I was rooting for the Pats. It could have been due to the the large number of New England fans in attendance. Good times! read more

It was a last minute decision to go to a Texans game at the NRG Stadium. The stadium is a decent size. Lots of different food options inside from snacks to meals. The bathrooms were clean. I will say the seats felt a little compact compared to other stadiums I have been in. I felt my legs were squished and i was being sandwiched with other people. I ended up getting the brisket nachos. I'm a sucker for brisket anything. It was surprisingly really tasty. The price? I mean you're at a stadium what prices would you expect? Parking and traffic is a nightmare. They have plenty of lots which you can pay for online. Just make sure you have walking shoes depending on which lot you choose. It's a decent walk from the stadium to the lots. The stadium only allows clear bags or a small and I mean small bag. If not you will be turned away at the gate. Once you scan your ticket and go through the metal detector you are good to go. You can either take the ramp or escalator. They have escalator attendants to make sure it doesn't get overloaded. They had to stop the flow of traffic on them a couple times on our way out. It's a stadium nothing really stood out it wasn't too bad. That's about it. read more

Originally, my husband was on a waitlist for season tickets... he was DEEP on the waitlist, like #20,000. But all of a sudden, he was notified that he was up for purchasing tickets and he jumped on it. (He said that a lot of people- who were ticket holders for YEARS dumped their tickets). The first game I went to was a preseason game vs the Buccaneers. (Not sure if my husband was more excited to 1. Be on a date with me- away from our kids. 2. That football season was starting and we now live in a city with an NFL team. Or 3. HE WAS ABLE TO SEE THE LEGENDARY TFB PLAY.) As for the stadium review... Parking was ok... except for the morons who didn't know what they were doing at the gate. We ALWAYS pick the wrong line to be in. All the other lanes were moving smoothly. Ours... DEAD STOP. Tip: know what lot you need to be in and have your parking pass open when you arrive. Don't hold up traffic for 10 minutes because you are clueless. We didn't tailgate this initial visit... though, OMG! These HOUSTON FANS KNOW HOW TO PARTY. Some of the set ups are mind blowing! Couldn't believe the number of people who didn't even go into the game- just tailgated instead. Wow. We definitely will be tailgating in the future! The kids zone area next to the stadium was pretty sick. So many activities for the kids. (My husband brought our 4 year-old to the first game of the season and he LOVED the kid zone.) There's a clear bag policy here... and if you bring in a bag, it needs to fit within a certain size limit. I wore a Fanny pack that was literally the size of my cell phone. It's basically a phone carrying case that I wear around my waist and keep my license and a single tissue in it... the lady ALMOST didn't let me bring it in. She said she'll allow it but said that others might not. IT WAS THE SIZE OF MY OLD A** IPHONE 8... not even one of those bigger-sized iPhones. The old small one. Shocked. SHOCKED that a Fanny pack the size of an iPhone 8 technically isn't allowed. Weird. Getting up to our nosebleed seats was pretty simple. The place looked fairly clean. Concourse was ok. There seemed to be plenty of concession stands. Food prices seemed pretty fair. There were a few $5 combos. We went with an order of chicken fingers & fries, $2 bottles of water and a bottomless popcorn. Riddle me this... they offer $2 for a 12oz water. $4.89 for a 20oz water... WHY would you pay .89 MORE for 4oz less of water??? (One 20oz vs getting two 12oz bottles (24oz) for $4)???? Anyways, at this initial visit, fingers and fries were EXCELLENT. Popcorn needed some work. The first bucket was SO SALTY it was almost inedible. I couldn't do it, my husband was able to. Later in the game, he got a refill, this time it tasted like they didn't salt it at all. This time it was inedible because it was so bland and not worth the carbs. (When my husband took our son, he again got the popcorn. Said it tasted ok that visit BUT when they went to get a refill, they waited in line for nearly 30 minutes to only get up to the counter and they WERE OUT OF POPCORN. The guy said they had to make more. The worker then scraped up whatever scraps were left at the bottom of the popcorn maker and gave him 1/4 of a bucket. For buying a bottomless bucket and waiting as long as they did, my husband said it wasn't worth the price.) OH YEAH, one more thing- so there is a DJ up on the nosebleed level who mixes out in the concourse. The music is entirely too damn loud. Like, it is obnoxiously loud. And of course it is right outside where our seats are... so when we order at the concession stand, you literally have to repeat everything a couple times. It's uncomfortably loud. Like, to the point where we might walk down the concourse to order at another place. It was awful. It needs to change. It's not fair that we have to suffer in pain from horribly loud music. All in all, football isn't my jam but I will go because my husband loves it. I'm sure I'll be back to more games. read more

Energetic, Electrifying and Inviting are just a few words to describe NRG stadium. The retractable roof stadium provides you with a premium view all around. From the Metrorail to the stadium is a bit of a walk but if you need assistance a shuttle round trips constantly to the security gate (for tips). The Greeters also provide you with a big Texas welcome and directs you to the closet entrance for your seats. Even if the game is not going your way their is a huge selection of food and drink options around the concourses. Seeing a football game on television does not even compare to the live action plays, halftime shows, and stadium games that you experience. Also, where else can you win Whataburger for a year just for being in a seating section of a fellow patron that guesses correct on a version of 3 card Monty, airline tickets, and more! read more

Went to Morgan Wallen (6/20). NRG was one of the worst stadiums I have ever seen a concert in. We had floor seats, which are very expensive, and they made restrooms and bar service damn near impossible. Not to mention we had to walk all the way around the stadium to get in from the metro. They had one small bar set up for all the floor attendees outside of the stadium along with a handful of port-a-potties. So you had to literally walk out the stadium to get a drink and use the bathroom. The other alternative was to climb the stairs all the way to the 100 level amenities, but when you came back to the floor you had to put all drinks in a plastic cup even though everything was in cans. Yes, this included bottled waters...had to pour that into a cup too. Absolutely ridiculous. Some of the NRG staff were also very rude. I will never come back to NRG for a concert again. Piss poor logistics and accommodations for the money folks spent to be there. I hope future artists further evaluate the fan experience prior to booking this venue. read more

TL;DR: Huge venue. Great for football games, not so much for concerts. Pack your patience with getting to and from the stadium because it's a s***show. I am just not a fan of NRG stadium. It's massive, which is fine for a football game, but not so much for a concert. I went to a Texans game when I first moved to Houston years ago and it was fun. I've been to the rodeo a few times and it's okay. If large crowds aren't your jam, then avoid this place like the plague. It's just people everywhere! I've seen a few shows here over the years like U2, Jay-Z and Beyoncé, and most recently Coldplay. The shows are great, but the sound quality isn't in my opinion. The sound at Coldplay did seem to be a bit more crisp and clear compared to U2 and Jay/Bey. It's incredibly loud (it's never good when your ears are ringing after a show) and I feel like I can't clearly understand the performers. I've seen shows at Minute Maid Park and BBVA Compass and they have better sound quality for big shows. The other thing that I hate about coming to NRG is the traffic! 610 is a hot mess with construction. Parking is expensive ($30 last night for Coldplay). If you take an Uber, you'll probably fall into the price surge trap. Waiting in line to leave whether it's the ride share line or the line of cars exiting the parking lots takes forever too. We parked downtown and took the train. It definitely saved money, but not time. The train stops every 2 minutes so it takes forever to get there. After a show, the train gets crowded. It's quite a bit of a walk from the train to the stadium. It never seems far walking there, but on the way back it feels like a marathon. After the marathon walk, we probably waited 20-25 minutes for the train to arrive. As with any stadium, the prices of concessions are expensive, so there's not much to say about that. The staff was pretty friendly. They did have the clear bag policy in place. It does help when going through security, but it's not great when people can see everything in your bag. I almost got pick pocketed last night waiting for the train. Luckily a nice woman that was leaving the show noticed the guy and warned me. So keep an eye on your stuff, especially if you have a clear bag! read more
