I usually go out of my way to come to this store, but after today I don't think I'll be back. This was my first time at the new location and since I hadn't supported in a while, I was excited to support. The energy/service was off today. We were the only two people in the store which is smaller than the last, but yet were followed. The service was not friendly other than the owner greeting us upon entry. In addition to being followed the owner and girl behind the counter were making comments under their breath. Whether or not they were talking about us, it just felt off because they were glancing at us when talking. I planned to spend money as I had not been here in a while and stock up on supplies to support a local/small business. Due to the atmosphere and poor experience, I purchased the essentials and left. While out shopping for hair products last night, my daughter and I stumbled across this jewel! The minute we walked in, we were greeted with sooooo much love!! I mean, it was INCREDIBLE!!! We felt so at home, like we had just entered our sisters house to visit the family for Sunday dinner. Kap(sp?) was so helpful and resourceful. Since, we are new to the area we had no idea where to go to get quality products and good customer service. She took the time to refer us to a few places, which I'm sure we will check out. But, as for hair products -- honey I will give my money to this place anytime!! Their new and small but have a good variety of what you need. Let's help grow their business by supporting our people's brand!! I promise you won't be disappointed with the genuine customer service they provide. It felt so good to be greeted with such soulful energy!! Even being called sis, queen and beautiful was so much more refreshing than most treatment we've received elsewhere! We weren't being followed, we weren't hurried to make a selection. We even came 30 minutes before closing and Kap took the time to help us out with everything we needed. And to top the night off, when another sistah walked in the door, with her hands held high screaming, "I have been looking for a black beauty supply store!!!" I guess it's like a hit or miss, depending on who's working because usually I have a great experience besides today. Some products are more expensive than other stores but I get they have to bring in money to keep the business open. I felt like the lady there today was rude, they have a glass counter by the wigs and the glass counter ended and there was a wig on a shelve so I was looking at the mannequin head and felt it bc I was thinking about purchasing the wig. This lady came over and was like this chair is there for a reason, people can't come back here. Well how the heck was I to know that a chair means don't go past here?! I honestly thought the chair was for people to try wigs on. Put a sign up or buy a longer counter if people aren't to be there. I wasn't behind the counter, it literally ended and the wig was after the counter ended. Needless to say I didn't purchase that wig I bought what I had in my basket and left. Could've had a few extra hundred of dollars from me if she was more polite but she came off rude when she said that to me & she seemed to have an attitude in general. I get everyone has their days but she really ruined my experience and I don't believe I will come back. read more

This was my daughter and I first visit here. I found the beauty supply on Yelp. This store was listed as the very first place for the best beauty supply in Phoenix! We arrived shortly before they were closing. However Miss Nicky was in no rush to get her customers out. This is a very clean and organized store. I only mentioned how clean it is because we have been to some that were not. Shelves were fully stocked with a good variety of many types of beauty supplies. The owner is a very nice young lady who was very friendly and helpful. Because of the late hour, we really didn't have time to explore as much as we would love to. First time going to this Beauty Supply store and it was a great experience! The staff were helpful and knowledgeable about hair care. My friend was able to talk with them about bleaching for curly hair, another friend was able to find lashes, and I finally found mango butter!! Their wigs are BEAUTIFUL! And I'm excited for them to start their small classes for wig application!! Also they have WIG WEDNESDAY where their wigs go on sale!! We just moved to AZ from Washington State as she is a Psychologist Doctor and is here for work... However, she asked me to look up top 10 wig shops in Phoenix so I did... NYWBS popped up... I have only been to one other wig shop with the GF and I couldn't get out of there fast enough, however, this shop was different... Upon entering, we were greated with a WELCOME TO NYWBS, ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO HELP YOU LET US KNOW? You don't always get that warm of a welcome today. The shop is well organized, fully stocked with an excellent assortment of supplies... Well, the rest is history. My GF Susan and I met some warm caring knowledgeable folks in the business... And NOW we are all family from Michigan and my GF can't stop talking about Nikki's knowledge, professionalism and her certain future business acumen!! Nikki and her father Owen were the best!!! While Nikki helped my GF Susan find some of the finest hair and style, Owen and I struck up some good conversation "Ironically" about our home town/State of Michigan... So I drove the 23 miles because I'd rather per pay a black owned beauty supply than other places like Grand-mart where they treat you like you're going to steal something soon as you walk through the door. I had thought the prices might be a little more but not at all , prices are aligned with all of the other beauty supply stores and they are very friendly and so very helpful.
