There are many drink options but I wasn't a fan of my margarita - I'll try the frozen margarita next time as that seems more popular. This place used to be great reasonably priced good food. I've been going there for well over 10 years even when it was hot now they charged me six dollars for a Coke, which was from the fountain. The guacamole that you order is almost tasteless. I questioned if they make it and it's the same guacamole that give you with the fajitas they don't give you that many chips and if you ask for more they charge you for it it has become a ripoff. HOLY guacamole! This was some of the creamiest guacamole I've ever had! I usually prefer mine with tomato but this was not needed! The Al pastor was the best I've ever had!!! It tasted as if it were marinated for days. Savory from the peppers and sweet from the pineapple laying on top of freshly assembled tortillas. The only downfall here was the the cocktails unfortunately. I ordered a mango margarita and tasted nothing but mango juice. Everyone else at the table experienced the same thing. The service is a little slow and the wait staff are more interested in hearing themselves talk than listen to you order. The food is okay. The shrimp Veracruz, which my waiter described as a little spicy, was a rectal burner which left charred marble in my toilet. The drinks were weak and filled with ice. What an amazing time I had here with my friends for my birthday celebration! The service was superb and our waiter was very fun and outgoing helping us decide what to get and trying new cocktails. The ambiance was great authentic and I felt very comfortable there everything, the music was awesome I put in some requests and they put them on! Everything just clicked!! Nuevo Mexico, where have you been my whole life? Oh, like, a couple blocks away? Damn. New York City is not known for having outstanding Mexican food, so I tend to get kinda hesitant to try out new places (especially in, lets be honest, largely white neighborhoods) because I'm rarely impressed. Nuevo Mexico got my attention during the pandemic with their take away margaritas - happy hour and a range of interesting and tasty flavors, what more could I need or want. It took me a bit longer to actually try the food, but boy am I glad I did because I was thrilled to see the quality here is above and beyond most local places AND not insanely overpriced to boot! Nuevo Mexico brings it with the basics that just make ALL the difference: real corn tortillas, fresh chips, perfect guac, hot sauce that's actually hot, really flavorful enchiladas, tender meat, boom. Great. Just straight forward and tasty. I will definitely add this into my rotation of the one other Mexican joint I order from 'round these parts. Came here for drinks while we waited for a table at Sip n Play. The margaritas are strong and our waiter was attentive enough to make sure that we always had more on hand. This is the BEST menudo I have tried in NYC. It's authentic, flavorful, and hits the spot! We have eaten here a few times and mostly ordered for delivery or pick up. The few times we are there, the service was friendly and welcoming. It's a neighborhood place with lots of regulars, but they welcome everyone. Newbies and regulars alike, are treated very well here. The drinks are strong, big, and keeps coming! A couple times I ordered online, but they didn't receive the order. I called the restaurant to follow up and they said they did not receive the order online, but got the food ready when I called, which was nice. I like it here, a lot. We usually go to Fonda or Chela in the neighborhood but wanted to try something less pricier. Decided to check out Nuevo Mexico since it had good reviews on Google and we were pleasantly surprised. The last time I came here, I tipped them over 20%, and just recently, I found out that they actually charged my credit card even MORE than what I've written on my receipt. I'm SO disturbed!! Mediocre Mexican food. Been in this neighborhood for 12 years. Been here a few times before. Prices def went up, maybe from covid but I def won't be back. Ordered a veggie burrito which was $15. Doesn't make much sense when a burrito with meat is also $15. Probably the only Mexican place that ever been to where they charge the same amount of $$ for a meatless burrito. Their menu also says gratify added for 3 or more ppl which I find quite ridiculous. Also really not a fan of places that charge the customer for using a card to pay. The food is awesome and though I saw a lot of complaints about delivery time... this place honestly delivered to me in like 20-25 minutes, just like they said they would...so I have no problem with that.... First impression of this place is that it smelled like a toilet. I'm sorry, but no restaurant should have that smell. Maybe if they invested in some candles or worked on getting better ventilation, it wouldn't smell like that. We essentially came for the happy hour. The drink selection was very lack luster. We ordered the margarita pitcher ($15). I guess because it is a happy hour drink they feel they shouldn't put as much of an effort in to making it taste good? The glasses for the happy hour are way smaller than regular margarita glasses. We ordered the chicken enchiladas and nachos. The food was very good and they were accommodating to the changes we wanted to be made to our food. I definitely like the free tortillas for the first go around. Being that the happy hour drinks kind of suck, we decided to try some normal margaritas. I tried the blue something. It was okay, nothing impressive. What impressed me was the coconut frozen margarita. It was super delicious. We ordered it close to 10, expecting the place to be open until 11, but at 10 they told us that they're closing.
