This place is a solid 3, nothing better, nothing worse. There are a few reasons for this, but mostly it's the inconsistency of the food. There are times where the breakfast order of eggs will be cooked just right, and the homefries well done and seasoned just right, then there are times the eggs will be overcooked and the potatoes unseasoned. As i've been coming here for years now, i tend to the get the same two items that 'tend' to be consistent. The burger, usually cooked as ordered, nice portion size, it's just a classic burger diner, the issue here is with the fries. The fries are never consistent even if you ask for them well done as a result of getting cold/soggy fries. The other consistent (and good) menu item is the chicken cutlet wrap, this is just right, always. The wrapping job is sometimes a disaster, but, nothing a simple tuck or fold cant fix. Their employees are generally quite nice and attentive, except for one who I do not think works there anymore as I had an ordering issue one time, and instead of admitting the wrong item came out and fixing it (wouldnt have been difficult), they said i ordered incorrectly, and charged me for a new dish, and left the old one on there. Will I keep coming here, yes, is it the best, no, but it's a decent diner in the area. read more

We order takeout from this diner often. The food is very good and they specialize in Mexican items but have all the regular diner food as well. We have ordered breakfast lunch and dinner and are never disappointed. We love the pancakes, grilled chicken and the burgers. read more

This is a good diner with an extensive menu. They're great for a late breakfast at lunch. Or stay in and order delivery. I'm wondering if they have a new cook though. The last two times I had the breakfast sandwich delivered, the bacon was raw. I took it off the sandwich and cooked it in the microwave. The cheeseburger deluxe is a favorite. You can choose regular fries, sweet potato fries or waffle fries. They have the best sweet potato fries of any diner in the area, as long as your taste buds are in sync with mine. Portions are plentiful. Order a meal, rather than a sandwich or burger, and you'll always have great leftovers. The ease of street parking is dependent on the time and day of the week. I've found it to be more difficult during business hours. Walk in the door and you'll always receive a friendly greeting from what I assume to be the owner, who is stationed behind the bar. The delivery person is not quite as personable, especially if you've made him get out in torrential rain. Once it was hard to tell if there was actually a person underneath that helmet & garb. So food gets delivered, I realized I didn't have enough cash to tip delivery guy so I decided to pay with debit card OTP. I was told that with their updated system they cannot receive card payments OTP so I have to come in to pay. NO FOOD FOR ME ,NO TIP FOR DELIVERY GUY, AND WASTED OMELETT. Ordered lunch from here, came to Yelp first but saw they had a bunch of flagged reviews lol ok well this is a real one. Got a Mushroom burger with Swiss deluxe and was very happy with it. The burger itse;lf was not a pre formed frozen patty but good,fresh ground beef. Cooked exactly how I asked (medium rare) so that the juices soaked the bun. (hungry yet?) the mushrooms were plentiful and seasoned well. The fries were good,crisp diner fries. Went there to get tostados and tacos. The first thing I noticed was the bland chicken. No spices were added and instead the taco was drowning in sauce. The chicken was dry too. It tasted unauthentic and real Mexican food has a lot more flavor. The tostados were even worse, the same chicken and even more bland. I haven't tried the American options, so I can't give it 1 star. Another problem was the price. 10 dollars for 1 taco and a tostado. It's just so unreasonable. If you want real authentic Mexican food in Brooklyn avoid this place. read more

Beautiful food. Fresh apple salad with walnuts cranberries dark leafy lettuce and everything you could imagine. Of course the chicken quesadilla didn't hurt either. They also brought a set of tostadas (mmm) baked potato with vegetables and cheese and a very generous helping of fruit and cottage cheese. Delivery is always on point (the guy is a sweetheart) which is a big help to people during the week. This is the kind of place that takes care of New York. Step in Mex Carroll's Diner for breakfast because I was early for a appointment nearby. They had some taste options on the menu, I went with the Mex Carroll sandwich. It had scrambled eggs, avocado, cheddar cheese with chipotle sauce on a large English muffin. It was delicious, coffee was good too! Not only is the normal diner food excellent (breakfast stuff, etc.), but they have a great selection of Mexican fare that's fresh and delicious. They're also nailing delivery during COVID. Had breakfast here twice while working in Brooklyn. Both meals were excellent. I had a regular eggs benedict one day and one with smoked salmon the next. Perfectly executed. I forgot exactly what everyone else had but their meals were equally as good. The staff was pleasant and efficient. There is a wonderful outside courtyard. Very comfortable place, not pretensious. This Diner delivers to work. So my friend and I ordered one day, she used Grub Hub. We opted for their 1/2 burgers. The price is a little up there but its the neighborhood and the quantity of food. She got a bacon cheeseburger and mines was a bacon burger. Delivery is fairly fast, judging by the distance. They apparently delivered 2 BCB instead of my no cheese burger :-( After calling them they rectified the error and they sent out the correct order. Once i received my actual food i was so happy! I had waffles fries and they were great not soggy at all. I'd have to say this place's delivery is great. The food was still hot including the fries...and it was 25 degrees outside this day. This comes with lettuce, tomato, a pickle and a spoonful of coleslaw on the side. Their ingredients were fresh and you can tell once you take your 1st bite. I have never written a restaurant review before. But my experience at Mex Caroll's Diner moved me to. I had chilaquiles there this morning. They were tremendous. Spicy, just a little bit sweet and incredibly tasty. That's not why I'm writing. When I got up to pay, I realized I had forgotten my wallet. I apologized profusely. I offered to leave my cellphone as collateral. But Victor, the owner, told me not to worry. He just smiled and said I could pay whenever. He didn't know the reason I was so spacey. My husband and I come during the summer and we like to sit outdoor. The outdoor patio is very nice. We like to go on Sundays because it's usually not busy. The service is very good and friendly. The food is very good. Every time I go I try something new and so far I haven't been disappointed. The drinks are delicious too. I love their aguas frescas. In my 12 years of living in NYC, I've been to a lot of diners. None are better than Mex Carroll's. The food is better than what you'd consider typical diner fare. Whether you're having the broccoli omelet, the BLT, the pancakes, or something from the authentic "Mexican Corner", you will be impressed. The ingredients are fresh and the waffle fries are bangin'. The staff is very friendly and will recognize you as a "repeat offender" very quickly. Victor immediately gave us a few freebies just to tie over our large boisterous crowd. The Food was Fresh, cooked right and Tasty. In our group Mexican, the club sandwich, Deluxe Burgers (w truly green Romaine not iceberg lettuce!), sweet potato fries and Pasta were big hits. My fish was Meh but the String beans were perfect: crispy and fresh. The service was great.
