We're "Sun Birds" visiting from Arizona. We had another great experience at Nuevo Vallarta. We visited for lunch. Service good, food great.

Pros: Seated right away; good service from waitress. Was relaxing sitting in the restaurant, so nice ambience. Cons: Ordered Enchiladas "Divorciadas" and first thing I noticed was they weren't rolled enchiladas, just small tortillas folded in half. The green sauce on the chicken enchilada was a little funky tasting, as in I couldn't figure out what they did to any avocado in it. Orange enchilada was melted Cheddar over ground beef - the kind of ground beef you find at Taco Bell. White enchilada was meh. Definitely ordered the wrong thing and paid $20-plus-tax for it. It would take a lot of convincing to get me to go again and I'd opt for something really simple, like a single combination plate item and go from there. Basically, just too expensive to make this kind of ordering mistake. I'm an enchilada-lover, so disappointed. read more

I hate to torpedo a small business's reviews, but out of all the Mexican restaurants in Frisco, this is the one to skip. We chose it because of the vibes -- it has festive decor, high ceilings, we were prepared for good vibes. Service was friendly and quick...but the food? Woof. We were there the first weekend in February, and it's sad to say that the best food we got was my kid's chicken nuggets and fries (my kid loved them). I ordered a smothered al pastor burrito that was so-so -- pretty flavorless and under-seasoned. Isn't al pastor supposed to include pineapple? Well, the pineapple was missing, and so was the flavor. It was smothered in their green chile, which was also pretty bland and unremarkable. We also ordered a crab soup (I know, Colorado isn't known for its seafood, but customers should have an expectation of something on the menu tasting good!), and my wife described it as tasting like bile. I don't know what it tasted like exactly, but I tried it and it was disgusting. My other kid ordered a chicken taco from the kid's menu that was awful. The crispy shell was soggy, and the filling...I don't know what it was -- it tasted like maybe they mixed cleaning solution into their food? They DEFINITELY were cooking fish along with the chicken -- it was inedible. Even the rice tasted to me like windex or some kind of overpowering chemical taste. I mean, what Mexican restaurant screws up RICE?? The salsa wasn't great, the bean dip was watery, chips were unsalted -- just a very poor showing all-around. My Pacifico with lime was delicious, however. I know it's Summit County, but with entrees costing 20-25 bucks, it's disappointing leaving most of the food uneaten (besides the fries and nugget) and not even trusting that the restaurant could "remake" the meal or that we could request something to replace it, it was that bad. Sorry, Nuevo Vallarta -- I think that was the worst Mexican meal I've had, ever. read more

This is an adorable wonderful find! The staff was friendly and eager to be of service. The variety behind the bar was amazing. The food was very tasty. I would definitely return if in the area again, but I would ask for the guacamole to be made with jalapenos. The manager checked with us and he mentioned that they would be happy to make it more mild for me. The restaurant is quite close to many ski areas so I am certain that during prime ski season the place will be hopping! Today it was somewhat quiet as ski season is barely starting. A very quiet and relaxing place to eat. Definitely a highly recommended stop in Colorado! read more

This place was great! We came in wanting casual Mexican food and did not disappoint. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by someone excited to see us. Overall a good experience. We had a large group (13) and we were seated and served very quickly. Our server (receipt said his name was Juan Dias) was amazing - super friendly and he had a great sense of humor. Food came out quickly and everyone really liked what they ordered. The only negative sentiment is that a few hours after we got home my husband got very nauseous and experienced food poisoning symptoms for a few hours that night. We believe it was the bland, weird tasting chicken that he had added to his nachos. No one else had the chicken in their meal and no one else got sick except for him. Not a great experience. We stopped in after a nice ride through the mountains. We were quickly seated in a secluded and small area, away from other diners. The sign on the wall said it all. "This area is for elderly people only". I guess they want to keep us old folks away from the young people! When I asked why we were discriminated against, I was 1st told "it's nothing, ignore it". Excellent porportions and tasty food, great way to recharge after a long day at the mountian. My cousin and I stopped by here after spending the day snowboarding. When we first arrived it was apparent that they are taking COVID-19 precautions seriously, so that's a plus. Lots of families were dining in and that also seems like a good indicator to me that we were on the right track. The waitstaff was very friendly and service was prompt. We had an excellent time. Staff is super great and fun. Tables were adequately spaced. Staff had masks on. Queso Fundido was the best I've ever had. Mostly chorizo not a lot of meat. We had the happy hour guacamole which was served on a bed of lettuce. The best original margarita served in a Martini shaker. Lots of tequila with fresh lime. No starchy sweet and sour mix.
