My husband and I drove through Frisco a week ago, but were there before all the restaurants opened. It's such a cute town so we just walked around for a bit. But- we were driving back through today and I remembered a Mexican restaurant in Frisco, so we stopped in for lunch- great decision! They have some tables outside, but we chose inside seating. We sat down and a server brought over water, chips and 2 different salsas that were very tasty. I ordered a medium size skinny margarita- and it was huge- but also really good and tart- just the way I like them! I ordered a chicken dish and my husband ordered a pork dish- hindsight- we should have split one meal because they were huge!!! Very fresh and delicious, but we couldn't finish them. If you are in the mood for authentic delicious Mexican food this is your place. The spinach enchiladas come with a tasty verde sauce, black beans and Mexican rice. It was fantastic. My husband had the chicken quesadillas which he loved and they happened to be on happy hour so it was a great price. Our friends had the taco salad ( it was huge) and the chicken soup, also amazing. We ended with the flan which was big enough for four. The staff very really friendly. Everything was delicious. We can't recommend it enough. We came to Casa Sanchez because we saw they have birria tacos. I ordered both the birria taco and the queso birria taco. They were the BEST I've had anywhere around! My husband wanted an enchilada but with birria meat. Our waiter, Manuel, said it was no problem. the enchilada was as good as the tacos. So glad I ordered the Sangria; it was delicious! The decorations are cute and, even though there were other people around us, we were able to carry on a conversation with no problem. Manuel was wonderful - very efficient and personable. Staying in Frisco and just a couple of doors down is Casa Sanchez. Was talking to a family on the mountain shuttle yesterday and she said it was great so we thought we would give it a try. Small place with an intimate feel. Waiter was nice and helpful and we were started with chips and some green chile salsas. Both were great but I really wished they had a red salsa. I did ask and he said they had a spicy one and asked if I wanted to try it. It was tasty but too spicy to have much of. We ordered our food and the portions are very large, we were glad that we decided to split things as the burritos are too large for most people to eat alone. Everything was delicious and it started to get crowded about the time we were finishing our meal. Would highly recommend if you are looking for some great food for a reasonable price with great service along Main St in Frisco! read more

Do not walk, RUN to this restaurant! The food is that good. I'm typically NOT impressed when I eat Mexican food because it never lives up to my expectations. Casa Sanchez is an exception. I loved it! Growing up on the border, my family would eat at a Mexican restaurant in Juarez every month. Yum. When we moved to New Mexico, I learned how green Chile dominates everything. I moved to San Diego for college and fell in love with Baja California Mexican food. It's salsa and pico de gallo featured cilantro that made me quickly forget Tex-Mex. I was not impressed upon entering Casa Chavez. The place was empty when we arrived for dinner an hour before closing. Was there something I missed? Maybe it's the impressive tequila collection on cheap shelves that greets you as you enter? It could imply the place is more of a bar than a place to eat. But, alas, the town was empty of tourists. And most locals don't eat after 8pm. Turns out the big crowds came Saturday. Within seconds of being seated we got chips and salsa. The corn chips were OK. A little heavier than I'd prefer. But the salsa, WOW! One salsa featured roasted tomatoes making it look almost black. It was divine! The flavor popped, followed by a lingering heat that was just right. The green tomatillo and guacamole salsa provided a good balance to the roasted tomato salsa. Then the king, or queen, of margaritas arrived. Blended just right and offered in sizes from regular to large. It did not disappoint. We ordered combination plates. Our server, Carolina, suggested the chili relleno and chalupa. I've been burned before on chili relleno, so I passed. When I hear Chalupa I think Taco Bell. No thank you. So, I ordered a chicken enchilada and shredded beef burrito. My wife ordered a chili relleno and shredded beef taco. Also, I NEVER get beans. All rice. I'm that picky. So imagine my surprise when our food comes and the beans actually look the opposite of the disgusting refried beans served most places. I tried a bite. Then another. These are the best I've ever had in a restaurant! Oh, and the Mexican (or Spanish) rice is light, fluffy and flavorful! My chicken in my enchilada wasn't flavored. But the cheese and red sauce made it edible. My shredded beef in my burrito had a good flavor. A little sweet and tangy. It was topped with a tasty green chili sauce. Then my wife gave me a bite of her chili relleno. It's basically a Hatch or Anaheim green chili stuffed with cheese, battered and deep fried. It melted in your mouth! The batter was thin and slightly crisp (not soggy with lots of grease). And the cheese combination made your taste buds dance. Sorry Texas, Arizona, California and especially New Mexico. But this is the best chili relleno I've ever had!!! Mic drop. Oh, and I asked to try their Horchata. Most restaurants fail making the rice, milk, cinnamon and sugar drink. It's either too sweet or just bland. The horchata here was neither. It was just right! I'll be ordering that next time too. The service was so good we tipped over 50%. Wow. I often tire of having to post less-than lovely reviews for restaurants but this little place has restored my hope that people still know how to cook. Small little place on the Frisco strip that packs a big punch in both portion and flavor as well as generosity with their ample servings of homemade chips (yes!!) roasted tomato salsa AND a beautiful tomatillo/avocado mixed salsa. Ordered the Camarones a la Diabla. Asked for it very spicy, and it delivered. Shrimp was fresh, sauce was deeply flavorful, as were the refried beans. Chips were served within moments of sitting down, served with two unique, memorable salsas. Server was also very attentive. Hmm... My family came here for my sister's 20th birthday and was promptly greeted with some pretty tasty chips, salsas, and some waters. This was the end of the redeemable part of our experience. We got two of the medium combinations, the chilaquiles verdes, and the enchiladas suiza (?). None of us finished more than a quarter of our plates. We're from Texas, so we take our Mexican food quasi-seriously, and this felt like a joke. When we left, we met a woman at the door and she asked if it was any good. Unfortunately, we had to tell her to go elsewhere. When we came here, it was pouring rain outside. I don't know why, but the host sat us right next to an open window. It was freezing and we had to ask to be moved. There were ample open tables, so placing us right next to the window felt ridiculous. Upon receiving our check, we realized that there was a $5 upcharge on one of the medium combination plates. We're assuming that was because of the guacamole tostada, but $5 seems a little egregious and the price was never mentioned to us beforehand. It felt like a sleazy way to get us to pay more for the mediocre food. Also, they kept dropping stuff in the kitchen which would make a reverberating clanging noise. While the patrons around us were quiet, that combined with the noise of the music was pretty distracting. As for the cleanliness, my sister claims that she could see into the kitchen from where she was sitting. From her spot, she watched the dishwasher dunk the silverware into a bucket full of "piss yellow" liquid to clean them. Moreover, she saw them clean the spatula in that concoction, use it to cook, then dump it right back in there. While not a crime, definitely not the most hygienic. I understand that quality Mexican food is hard to find in the mountains, but you'd probably have a better time making some yourself. read more

We stopped here after leaving Copper Mountain. We had a party of 6 and was seated rather quickly. Since it was earlier (for us) we decided to have a few drinks and enjoyed the chips and salsa while the folks we were with ordered food. I can't complain about the Tecate and chips/salsa. We have the mushroom, tomato and avocado appetizer, it was excellent as were the chicken mole enchiladas. The mole was especially good. I ordered the taquitos from the appetizer menu as my entree. Described as 'rolled fried flour tortillas filled with your choice of chicken or shredded beef. Served with lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream and guac' These were served like stated except also smothered in some kind of sauce. Look, I really don't understand the Colorado way of smothering everything in sauce. But I've never seen a taquito smothered in anything. The beef was really saucy too, but it was the sauce on the outside I didn't care for. They were not crispy as taquitos typically are. And if it's smothered, why didn't the menu describe it that way? My husband has carnitas tacos and was disappointed in the flavor of the tortillas. The server was really nice though. read more
