I have been with NuMark since my 2nd job when my grandmother took me in to start my financial journey maybe 20 years ago. I have had a couple loans through them and watched as they branched out and grew. I moved out of state and continues to use them as my primary bank. No major problems up until recently and it seems like their is no customer loyalty and it is just another major institution. Call center doesn't look into issues just asked and answered. I attempted to pay off my last loan, recently so I made a $1200 payment and from my account it showed zero. I called and the credit union and the rep told me it would be a couple days before it showed but to wait a week. I waited 2 weeks and sent a message asking what was going on. They told me there was a $4 interest balance and why didn't I ask for a payoff quote when I spoke to the rep... SMH because silly me thought I was calling an institution with a loan department that would assist me when I called to follow up the first time. Needless to say it took over a month and finally got my title. Update: I was contacted shortly after this to correct the issue. Fortunately it was already corrected but I went into more specific details with the manager. I do appreciate them looking into my situation and hope there is some documentation and retraining with some individuals. read more

If you want to find a bank that will allow yoiu to deposit unlimited amounts of money per month and not use any of it via Zelle or debit card withdraw or actual card payment this is the bank for you. Let me say these 2 young women are the best. Sandra & Yareli are knowledgeable about there job and made the loan progress easy. I came in on a Monday and closed the loan on Wednesday. Every question I asked they had the answer I felt like family when I left. Next time you need a loan go to Numark on 30th & Halsted. Have a your documents with you. I help my son with his bills, and he had automatic payments set up. Then NuMark switched platforms, and the payment didn't come out like it was supposed to. We had no idea they changed anything until they called saying his payment was late. We tried to get into the new system, but none of his papers even have an account number on them. I had to call in just to get that, and after a big hassle, the guy finally gave it to us. Then the registration still wouldn't go through. I've called several times, and now they're saying I can't make a payment online anymore and have to talk to financial recovery. When I asked to be connected, suddenly no one was there to talk to. Today I called again, and one person said they can't do 3-way calls. But when my son called from his phone, all of a sudden they could. Then they told us he was already registered--but when I tried "forgot username," it still doesn't work. So now I just sit and wait for financial recovery to call. The whole reason we set up automatic payments in the first place is because life gets busy and I don't always have time to sit down and pay bills manually. Yet here I am, over a week later and several hours on the phone, still trying to make one simple payment. This has been nothing but a headache from start to finish. read more

My father recently passed away. My name was placed on his account before he passed. I live approximately an hour away I came in January and closed his bill payment. Every month it continues to come out. they referred me to the third party for the bill payment. Again it was my understanding it was taken care of in January. When you call it's a call center. Most of the reps are rude and self righteous. There was one Taylor who was kind and up front with me. I got her twice. She did d not lecture if I did not have my Dads account number or other things. It's too bad the test off the call center reps are more like Taylor. My second episode was today. of course I had to drive an hour to close my Dads account. I would have kept it open but I feared they would take out another bill payment. Here's the thing. My Dad was a Charter member of the Credit Union. over 50 years. He was so proud of this. Fire everyone and then set up a training program so your employees actually know what it is they are doing. Take accountability for the mistakes your employees make that lead to your customers suffering and fix it completely. Then hire new employees from the top to the bottom that are properly trained because as of right now I would give this company negative 5 stars if I could. I've been a member of now NuMark CU for more than 30 years. I have watched the customer service go from excellent to poor over the years. The branches all have local numbers but when you call either number, the calls are routed to the same call center location. I have attempted to call about a personal line of credit I applied for. Crystal P in Tinley Park was the person who took the application I guess. I have yet to speak to her. At this point I don't even want to speak to her. I would prefer to speak to someone else. Each time I go inside the TP branch, the there is a black woman who works the window and counter, and I have never had a good experience. Back in the day, when my father worked for Caterpillar I opened an account as a minor. None of the employees almost are around. Each time I call in, I have to wait for a call back almost. No matter what the issue is. There's 3 people I've had great service with, one lady assisted me with opening CD's a few years ago in TP, and Joellen the regional mgr, and Blanca in Aurora, have been great to work with. Even the rewards program, is nothing like it used to be. It's not even a reward. It's unfortunate for customers to reconsider their membership, due to lack of service. read more

I have Numark Credit union for multiple years now, and they have been helpful and decent, I have had my share of up and downs with them.. Paid off my car loan with them and wanted to buy another car with them, and they were not inclined to help me due to, missing ON TIME payments, but it happens when you are seriously injured on the job and you are at the mercy of other insurance agencies on payments and frequency of the reoccurring payments .. Long story short, I wanted to buy a 10K truck with 5K cash down they refused to help, 10 minutes later I called dealership, they approved me no issues. Disappointing, as I have always did my best with them and would have rather kept a relationship with my bank. read more

So I was at Northstar for maybe 8 years or so and then they we're bought out I guess by numark. My complaint is their help really. But having said that I complain about service a lot lately. I love the bank for the most part. If I deposit my money I get it right away. The problem lies in there ability to take care of me efficiently. I swear I spend 15 to 20 minutes in the drive-thru every time and no one in front of me or beside me. When I ask what the problem was they said they had people inside but there's only like two parking spots there. So yesterday there was two people outside and my online banking was down so I had to go to the bank well I sat there for a couple minutes and then I thought I need help logging back on because they did some updates with their online services. So I go in I'm waiting and waiting and waiting The person in front of me leaves I walk up she says hold on a minute please sir. It was much longer than one minute finally I got up and walked out to my truck I was going to leave. I thought s*** I have to get this figured out. I go back in I wait wait wait finally I look at her and say should I come back at another time. She says no I can help you now sir. I walk up I ask her about the online thing she says all you have to do is delete the app reinstall the app and then try again I said no no My wife is pretty smart she's tried all this. Well that's all I can tell you sir. Okay fine so I came home I had my wife do it it doesn't work. Of course I knew this. There's one girl there and I can't remember her name but I love her. All the rest of them need to be fired or trained. It's kind of sad that your employees can just wreck your business. Again this is not just banks this is try to go get your tires changed. I just had two tires on a camper changed took me two and a half hours. They had three people working on it their incompetent not one of them knew what the hell they were doing. Car was totaled and I've been reaching out daily trying to get the documents needed for the GAP insurance for weeks now and there's no help and zero urgency. If I could give NuMark a -100 I would. We got a motorcycle loan with no issues. After 3 years they are asking for proof of insurance. We have uploaded it we have emailed it we have had our insurance agency call them and give them the information they requested. They still are trying to force their insurance company on us. Now we are fighting to not pay for a second insurance on one bike. This has gone on for months. read more

Difficult to talk to anyone. The chat function via mobile doesn't work. They also clearly don't want me to put money in my account. I've been trying to make deposits all month via mobile deposit and they keep rejecting it for random reasons. Should I move my money elsewhere? It's ridiculous. Very disappointed with this credit union overall. ***Update, I'm so thankful for Karen who gave me a phone call to alleviate my concerns and confirmed my mobile deposit. They just took over my previous credit union and it has been awful. I can no longer quickly get ahold of a person to talk to. Here are the things that have gone wrong: *during the merger I did not have access to my account for 5 days. *a purchase was returned onto my debit card around the same time of the merger and I have spent a total of 3+ hours having to ensure it will go through on my account. I have to fill out dispute paperwork for it. * I can no longer make transfers from checking or savings account into my CDs. I have to call everytime I want to do that. *My first mobile deposit was rejected because I did not endorse it correctly. I am really bummed that this hasn't been adequately taken care of. We received an email saying "Woops! Murphy's Law - some things go wrong sometimes." Okay, sure, but this is a financial institution who have control over people's livelihoods. The fact that they were so flippant about how this can truly affect people's lives was really upsetting. My time is as valuable as my money. It has been less than two weeks and this credit union has taken over $300 worth of my time. read more

Awful, awful service. The purpose of the credit union membership is to have access to member services. I was denied a mortgage - was told I needed a certain high, high score and I had to pay off old medical bills to qualify. Contacted Rocket Mortgage same day and was approved and through underwriting in 48 hrs w/a fixed 2.3% APR in 2021. Just Contacted them about a small personal loan, was denied due to ex husbands negligence w/him paying a court ordered Numark car payment in 2019. He went to jail for nonpayment/contempt etc. i provided all documents As Proof. My income is excellent, my debt to income ratio is excellent, my two car notes were paid off, I have no other personal loans, MY payment history is 100%. They only service an elite group. My household will be closing all accounts immediately. read more

I wish i had read these reviews prior to opening my account here, because based on these reviews and my initial interaction, I'm nervous. I wanted to establish a relationship with a local institution and thought this was the right one. Having worked for financial institutions for over 30 years as well as being a head teller at another credit union in the past, I am well aware of how customer service should be handled as well as the importance attached to instilling confidence in members/customers. After saving change for several years with my kids we wanted to start a vacation savings account. I was rudely informed that they do not take unrolled change. This was the first experience and not pleasant. However, I do understand that you cannot tie up a teller hand counting all that change. Not exactly sure why they don't have a coin counter... The kids and I went home and rolled the change, we ran out of penny wrappers and used plain paper to roll the balance in the proper amounts. When I went back this morning with my husband to add him on the account and to deposit the change, we were again met without a greeting when we came in, despite being the only members in the lobby. I asked for help filling out the deposit slip and was met with condescension (their slips were different than the ones we used) I was also informed they would take NO unrolled change, I had $12.05 worth of coins of various denominations that were not enough of each denomination to make a full roll. I found this strange and annoying especially considering there is a national change shortage. They did however, after discussion deign to take the rolls that were not in official penny rolls, and graciously informed me I could perhaps purchase rolls from Amazon in the future. Considering the federal reserve charges for rolled coin and I just rolled the coin myself and handed it to them I found this annoying. I'm hoping things don't continue in this vein. We will see. Really I should apply for a position and help their image in the community by improving their customer service point of view. read more

Applied for a personal loan with a 700+ credit score to consolidate some credit cards. Two weeks later after providing almost as much paperwork as a mortgage application and supplying payoff letters it was denied. Applied at another credit union and was approved the same day with just providing paystubs. Every time you call you can't get through to someone and have to leave a callback number. Definitely closing my account after 2 years of being a "member". Avoid this place!! read more

I am also constantly blasted by spam email from them about how great their rates are; but when I actually tried to refinance I was denied despite having decent credit and never got a straight answer why. We are trying to get a home equity loan. Called NuMark and they called back and left VM telling us to call them 24/7. Not true. Wasted our time calling back and could not get person on the phone. Called next day and someone had to call us back. They called at 5:30 our time while we are trying to do a grocery run and start dinner. We asked them if they could please call us back and they said NO because the phones are BUSY. Got a brief run down and then felt pressured to have our credit run. My fiancé again asked him to call us back and was again told no. Explained that since he was more concerned with the other calls and not with helping us, that he can call us back and hung up. I have NEVER felt so unappreciated as a customer. He said, let me run credit, it'll just take a few minutes. DUDE! We are not ordering a pizza, we are talking about taking $70K equity on our house. We need to think about it, we need to ask questions...just left bad taste in our mouth. read more

The manager was very honest and professional and I was impressed by how she dealt with my issue. Totally frustrated with this Credit Union especially in comparison with my previous credit union that taken over by NuMark recently. Virtually every thing that I used to do on-line easily, is either non-functional or is so buried in nonsensical menus that it take forever to find it. Customer service by phone is slow and the representatives that I've spoken to seem irritated to have to talk to me I still get good service in person at the old "NorthStar" location, but if I can't accomplish most of what to do on-line I'll have to look elsewhere. Still waiting on a response from Harry, VP of mortgage, to resolve the issue they caused on mishandling of my refinance. This is outrageous that the organization is ignoring the serious mistake THEY made. Numark has always been a great credit union to us however they cannot do mortgages. They have caused a serious issue in our escrow an issue we paid to have done properly. Here we sit chasing them and chasing them to make good on their mistake or pay us back for what we paid. CRICKETS! It is offensive and very upsetting that Numark is behaving in this way. It is clear the mistake and clear who made it however they run the other way. Her message just kept saying she would be with me in a minute. I don't think Numark does a very good job at customer service. Over the last few years my debit card has been compromised. The first time it happened my card was used to make a 500 dollar purchase. Numark caught it within an hour of the transaction and contacted me before I even knew their was a problem. Just yesterday it happened again. My card was cloned and used for multiple purchases. On both occasions I worked with Kari Hopper. The money was returned to my account within minutes. She sent me a simple form and reassured me that she would take care of everything. She processed the order for new cards and we had them the next day. These situations are never good but the level of service Kari provided made it far less stressful. read more

They claim to have great pesonalized service, however the reality is long hold times on the phone in customer service. Trying to get a call back from management is very dificult. It took me 2 emails, 2 voice mails, and a visit to answer a question. Also their Website is very cumbersome and old fashion. I am vert disapoited and will eventally move my account. read more

Wow. It takes forever to get someone to answer the phone. I paid off my auto loan and never got the title. I called and after a ten minute hold someone finally picked up the phone. I was told it was mailed two weeks ago and to contact the Secretary of State for a lost title. I never saw the thing. Never touched it. I don't know where my title is and their attitude was " Oh well. To bad. Not us". I should have read the reviews before using them. read more

I am a potential new member and filled out a loan application online. I heard back the next day with 2 questions.I asked how long it would take to process and was told I would hear back in 24 hours. I answered the questions and did not hear back for 3 business days. At that point, I had to call to inquire and was told I had to talk to a specific person and was sent to her voicemail. That was 4 business days ago and still have not heard back. This location does not seem to want new business and I am very disappointed. read more
