Really awesome concept and so great to see some live music again! When I visited, they had only been open a week however. Not all of the bar and food stalls were open, less than half I think. It was also a very chilly night and the "heater" we were seated near was barely working. Ended up leaving early, it was just too cold. The bar situation was also a bit confusing and just overall lacking in variety and options. I'll definitely try again on a nice day or night when they have a bit more experience under their belts and work out the kinks. This place has incredible potential. read more

Had such a great time here when we came! It's beautifully decorated and the back is so rad. We were totally surprised by how amazing it was when we walked around the back. Respectful of COVID. This place is out of this world! Located in rino this brewery/food court/ concert venue is one of the most unique places in Denver! With sick bracelets to use to order drinks and food you will not have to reach for your card at all during your stay! There is live music and good vibes! Can't wait to return! read more

Stumbled upon this place after the bar next door closed and cancelled my reservation without notice. I heard music and saw people coming and going... there is still LIFE in this city. I walked in and was greeted by a friendly staff member who gave me a brief history and tour of the place. It's completely local focused with Colorado brewed beers and locally distilled spirits. I opted for the house red, which was decent. The band was great and good energy from happy patrons. The staff was friendly, kept tables sanitized and proper social distancing observed. They do not have outdoor heaters or fire pits and the outdoor space was breezy... made for a cold night. Last call was at 7:30pm due to the new restrictions. By 8pm a staff member went group to group yelling that it was now illegal for us to be there and we needed to leave immediately. It was good while it lasted. Heaters and a friendlier exit would give this place 5 stars. Definitely looking forward to returning when they are allowed to be fully operational. And bringing my pup! read more

I was a little wary of the mixed reviews before visiting Number Thirty Eight, but I had a great first experience there last weekend! The staff was friendly and helpful upon arrival. There was ample outdoor seating (though we arrived on the earlier side, and it definitely got PACKED as the night went on). Our drinks were yummy; loved the wide selection of beers, wine and ciders. Plus, they had a live performer playing onstage, and it was just so fun to hear live music for the first time in a while. Will definitely be adding Number Thirty Eight to my rotation of spots in RiNo! read more

Such a great idea, horrible execution. The whole credit card thing at the front door creates a line and a very slow moving process. When you finally get in, good luck grabbing a beer. They have a total of like 10 counters at the bar but only 3 bartenders. Oh yeah then when you go to leave after spending the entire night in the beer line, you get hassled for the 20% that they automatically charge. 20% for bartenders that walk 5 feet to pour your beer and food that you have to walk up to grab and throw away you own trash. Literally no real service at all. Told the desk to please cash me out so I can leave a valued tip and the cashiers made the process seem very troublesome. read more

A cool idea and setup, my sister and I were excited to come check this place out. The moment we walked in to the time we ordered drinks we didn't feel a good warm vibe from the staff. Maybe it's Covid and other stressors but they were not very welcoming. I felt like cattle being rushed in to a pit with no other cattle around. My advice is to make your staff happy or find staff that can make your customers feel welcomed. This review comes from seasoned denverites in the industry. Hoped it was a better experience. Good (not great) food, nice outdoor venue, TERRIBLE service. Food court with a small outdoor stage/venue and bar- style seating. This means you have to walk up to a bar to order your food, they give you a pager that flashes when the food is ready, you go back up to the bar and being your food to a bar stool somewhere to eat. Then you have to bus your own table when you're done. And no, not once did I see any staff wipe the tables off in between parties (even before COVID, that would have grossed me out). Compared to Avanti and other notable food courts in Denver, the food choices at Number 38 were very limited. Essentially two main choices, tacos or ramen. For sides the options were limited to 3 different styles of fries or chips and salsa/guac. Guessing, correctly, that the portions would be small, I ordered the mushroom tacos and the green curry ramen (I'm a vegetarian). Both were tasty. The taco was smaller than my cell phone tho, and for $5/a piece, I didn't want to order too many, tho I could have out away 5 of em if they were cheaper. The Ramen, ($14) was also pretty tasty. Would have been a size small bowl at any other ramen or pho restaurant. My friend got just a side of fries (a small plate) for a ridiculous $10. Definitely nothing special about the fries. We each had a mixed drink for $10 a piece. Two important things to note, the hostess takes your credit card when you check in and charges it to a festival style bracelet that you then scan for your food and drink. There's no receipt and no way to see how much you're spending until the end of the night when you either stop back at the front to ask the hostess to show you your tab or check your bank statement online. Also, they automatically charge you 17.5% gratuity. Regardless of the fact that the dining experience is basically like eating at a fast food restaurant, I wasn't sure what I was paying gratuity for except to the bartender who mixed my drinks. Most importantly tho, the service was terrible! We got our reservations online two days in advance for outside seating. There were only two options for reservations (outside or inside). When we got there, the hostess showed us to the outdoors area and told us to find any open seat. We chose a table for two, which was fine. Buy then an arrogant, cheesy, dork of a host-guy comes over and starts giving us the third degree for taking a table. He says the tables were reserved! He told us we only had reservations for outdoors, but not for a table. And then HE PICKED UP OUR FOOD AND STARTED MOVING IT TO THE BAR! That's when I lost it, "don't touch my food with your COVID hands buddy! I asked to talk to a manager, he looked shocked, like no one had ever stood up to him before. He went away and came back almost right away telling is it was ok to sit at the table. I got the distinct impression he never checked with his managed. I responded, "great, thanks for the info, but I still want to talk to your manager," in my most dangerously kind voice... So the manager comes over and apologizes profusely for his behavior, telling us it was his fault and that I was right, it is in fact open seating and not reserved tables. But by then, we had already been forced into creating a scene and some of the magic was broken. She never even offered to comp a drink for us or anything. I understand mistakes happen, but this dude was so rude and incompetent, and the manager so phony and insencere, I ended up going back up to the bar after were drone, tipping the bar tender 30% in cash for our drinks, and had the hostess who has scanned our cards in the beginning take off the 17.5% gratuity. At places like this where the tip is built in, they think they can treat their customers like crap because they'll still get tipped. Not on my watch tho. I refuse to tip for ride, lousy host staff and self serve bar food. Will I go back, probably, the little bit of live music we saw was pretty good (some local band not really worth remembering, but nice). But I definitely won't be bullied by se grown man with a teenage girls job... read more

Went for a business event during the day, cool space. Decided to return on a weekend night for a beverage. Front desk staff very nice, explained how everything works, polite and kind. Unfortunately, the bartenders are some of the grumpiest people I've ever dealt with. I don't know if they're upset at management or what, but unfriendly to the point of being rude. With the automatic 17.5% tip and mystery pricing for drinks, you'd perhaps think they'd be nicer, but no. Text receipt system did not work. Ordered a beer, a forgettable 6 oz. vodka drink, and a decent Bloody Mary. Bank was charged $15.00 one day, $21.00 the next. . .seems high, but no one to contact with the broken online service. I finally got to visit number thirty eight on cinco de Mayo and had so much fun! I absolutely loved the atmosphere. Honestly the only reason I won't be going back is that the entire kitchen doesn't use gloves. (It's an open kitchen, so you can see) and I was surprised to see that no one was using gloves, and then noticed the people handling the food with their hands were also handing money and the food buzzers that touched everyone's hands and the tables etc. I'm not a germ freak at all but that was really gross to see and I wish they would do something to change that! If that doesn't bother you, then this place was a lot of fun!! read more

Place was cool looking with a great beer selection but the staff wasn't particularly friendly. It was a bit of a bummer! We got confused about the ordering process and I was really thrown off by the aggressive nature of the bartender when we asked questions. So many great breweries in Denver... Outstanding! The customer service was superb! From start to finish everything was great! At the door, the staff was happy to explain the credit card/link to bracelet concept! Service was fast! Super dog friendly, as the staff brought over multiple bowls of water for my pup! The manager I believe, Seth Wilson, went out of his way to answer my gf and my question, help us in anyway to accomodate my friend and my dog! Great addtion to the neighborhood! From comfortable, quality lawn chairs (with cup holders) to awesome, clean restrooms, super-helpful staff, great stage, great sound, volleyball (not my thing, but still cool), to even a foot washing station for when you're done with your volleyball game. Great idea but annyoning. Love the venue, loved the beer selection. However there needs to be some serious changes in the way this place runs. First off, the line to get in was crazy. Took 20 mins even though there was plenty of room inside. However there were not enough workers to take credit cards and hand out a bracelet. By the time we finally got inside we stood in an equally longer line to get a beer. By the time I got to the front of the line I actually bought myself 2 beers because I wasn't about to stand in line forever for the 3rd time. The worst part was that the bartenders were SO SLOW. It is the thing that will probably prevent us from going back. It actually seemed like a joke. It was mesmerizingly frustrating. It was like they were all stoned or just couldn't be bothered. Given that the automatically add 20% to the bar tab at the end, you would thing these bartenders would want to hustle. But there was no hustle whatsoever. Then on top of it all they were fairly rude and full of themselves and attitude. What a terrible combination. If I were management I would fire the bar staff and start over. read more

I attempted to go here the other day, just me and one other person. It was about 5pm and the place was EMPTY. The guy at the host stand said sorry we can't seat you because we have a ton of reservations coming in in an hour. So I walked myself down to Blue Moon and that place was packed full but was seated immediately. After finishing up at Blue Moon walked back to Number 38 and it was STILL EMPTY. They like to blame their bizarre reservation system on covid. Sure, ok. Unfortunately, they have no scapegoat for the rude staff and terrible service. As others have mentioned, the views and live music are nice, but they come at a cost. It's impossible to tell how much a drink is, because the menu isn't labeled. The food is mediocre at best. And the staff might as well not exist. For example, a server brought our table an item we didn't order. We said "oh we didn't order that" and got raised eyebrows with no response. He set it down anyway, walked off, and we were still charged for the item. I live a few blocks away and certainly won't return. read more

Great venue to watch a game or just hang out on the weekend and have A beer. Beer selection in fact it was great. The huge problem with this place is a couple of things... 1) it took us at least 20 minutes to get through the front door even though there was plenty of room inside. They need more workers at the front door taking peoples credit card information and giving out bracelets. The line was ridiculous. 2) The bartenders were my biggest difficulty with this place and may be the reason we don't go back. Despite the bracelet system, we waited in line for a beer for another 20 minutes. I ended up ordering two beers for myself because I didn't wanna have to go back and spend another 20 minutes in line later. The bartenders were all moving so slowly it seemed like a joke. They could not have been bothered to speed things up. They literally all seemed stoned. It was mesmerizingly frustrating. And then to really icing the cake they all seem to be full of attitude and acted like they were annoyed that they were even customers to wait on. Given that they tack on 20% to your bill automatically you would think these people would want to hustle because the more they serve the more they make. But it was very obvious there was no need to hustle on their part. Note to management... Get yourself some bartenders who know how to hustle. read more

This place is awesome! Super fun environment with live outdoor music all 3 times I've gone. Lots of different beer options and will get even better once they have more on draft. Food was surprisingly good as well, lots of unique tacos, flatbreads, bowls, etc. Definitely a fun place to listen to music, watch football, and drink a few beers. read more

I really struggled deciding how to review this place. The atmosphere is nice and food was tasty but they dropped the ball in so many other ways. We spent a good portion of our evening in various lines (which you pay mandatory gratuity for the pleasure of serving yourself) and watched each other take turns eating since my bao buns came out 20 minutes after the $21 personal pizza. I honestly debated even eating after watching the cook behind the counter manhandle the fresh buns while constantly touching his face (no gloves). Other people in line actually did decide not to eat after watching this. And then when you finally leave they don't actually text you the receipt... it's a link that requires you to sign up/in. So you'll need to provide them you phone, credit card, email, etc. just to eat here. But the mandatory gratuity for standing in line is the most annoying. Include it in the prices and pay a fair wage instead of adding fees. NO ONE LIKES FEES. read more
