I love the concept of number thirty eight - they have tons of vendors for drinks, a good sized food menu, and an easy payment system. Vendors: They had a lot of vendors to choose from, including: local breweries, wine, and lots more! Payment: When you arrive, you check in at the front desk and receive a wristband which is connected to your credit card- then every time you order a drink you scan your wristband. There's no need to check out as the restaurant adds a 17.5% tip on everything. I really enjoyed this system as it made it easy to get up and order another drink. Cons: I wish they weren't as stingy on needing a table to be here. The outdoor brewery concept is better with the availability to walk around and stand up vs not having to sit at your table the whole time. As some other reviewers have mentioned, the staff gives you warning but kicks you out at a certain point so they have tables for reservations. I'd be more ok with this if we could leave the table when needed but could stay standing outside. The wrist bands only tighten, you need scissors to remove. I'd like if they were transparent about all drink prices! As far as I could see they only showed price "brackets". read more

This place is great! On the quieter side of RiNo and a bit difficult to find because of construction. However, this place has so much space! Plenty of room to spread out and the beers on tap are great. You also get drinks by paying by your wrist band which is pretty simple and cool. Highly recommend! ~The talk of RiNo~ When Number 38 opens fully, anyone who knows anything about the RiNo scene will have been here more than once. The concept is amazing: as many breweries as you can fit under one roof all separated into separate stalls, food options, a wonderful outdoor set up (pet friendly) live music, sand volley ball and very spacious inside and out. Currently you need to make a reservation or you will have to wait quite a while to get in when the weather is good. You put a card on file when you walk in and get a wristband to "pay as you eat/drink". Don't worry about tipping.. that's already charged with a flat % rate per order. I've been here quite a few times since they opened their doors, and I'm excited to come here on a regular basis this summer. read more

People are waiting in a enormous line to do check in with their Id and credit card, while missing the band or not being able to sit with their friends. Hands up, volleyball players, music lovers, bar goers and sportsfans - this place easily sat/stood a group of our folks (anywhere from 6-10 over the course of a couple hours) in the awesome open air bar area. We shared some 'za (food hall has other options) and watched some football with the soundtrack of live music. The garage doors open to an outdoor turf stage and the second smaller bar marking the perimeter of the sand volleyball courts (sign up for seasonal leagues!). The coolest part is the tab - you wear it on your wrist and tap to order/pay for both food and drink! Happy Hour tends to make an abrupt musical transition from laid-back patio party to bumping uh-tiss, but bring an outfit and mood change and you'll find yourself staying entire Saturdays there. read more

How can you get a receipt? When you walk into this place, they take your credit card and you then access areas with a wristband. Then you leave and walk out the door when you are done. I came in with a friend and we got food from the take out window and each had two drinks each. Two beers and two whiskey drinks. The food was three street tacos and two buns. Food was good and priced right. Maybe 5-6 dollars each or less which is the reason for the stars. Very tasty. So I was surprised to see the 118+ dollar check. You do not get a receipt to verify the charges. Are they charging gratuity? A service fee? Or are they just expensive? Well you wouldn't really know unless you brought a pencil to keep a running tab. Also we made a reservation, only to be sat outside, at a standing area, where we were then corrected for not having on a mask. This is where you sat us! I am all about being safe, but why take a reservation to have someone stand outside in the cold without a heat lamp around. I can do that at home. I've called, I emailed, I even messaged the business on opentable and got zero response requesting a receipt. I did not even know it was legal for a restaurant to not give a receipt. What is stopping a place like this from padding a check? You want to trust people but with the process they have in place it makes it really easy for you to spend money but not actually see on what. read more

We worked with Shara Dowd (GM) to rent out the semi-private indoor space for our wedding weekend welcome event. It was especially affordable because we could rent out just the space, and let guests pay for their food and drinks. (With a guest list of 200 people, this was a financial lifesaver!) The space also came with private bartenders, and the decor is just fabulous. Westword readers voted for Number Thirty-Eight as having the best bathrooms at a venue in 2022 - We have to agree! The tiniest thing we didn't realize was that no one from the venue would meet us a the blocked off semi-private space - we just showed up and were able to walk into the space and use it early for our wedding ceremony rehearsal. Really cool place! Lots of space and outdoor seating. The food is really great too! I was really impressed. There was a DJ and a local band that performed. You do have to make reservations currently and that includes outdoor bar/rail seating. Drinks are good with lots of options but you don't know the actual prices for each one as none are listed individually. There is a sign at the entrance that says ranges from $8-13. FYI It's also contactless paying, so you attach your credit card to your bracelet and then can leave when you're done and not have to checkout with anyone. read more

I wish they had a larger beer selection since they currently only have a few beers per brewery (9 breweries) when they have room for twice that. Hopefully this increases as the place grows. Beware of your card charges when visiting here. Never received receipts after our visit, emailed and took over a week to receive detailed receipts. I was charged for food items I never ordered. My boyfriend got 1 sandwich ($15) on his tab but somehow was charged over $65. How are people able to put things on our tab without our knowledge? You can't even call to get real help. In the indoor space, it's hard to hear your friends because noise from music and chatter is constantly bouncing off the walls and ceiling. The food is pretty tasty, but this restaurant has few offerings. The pizza isn't available much of the time. Number 38 has a sneaky policy of collecting credit cards and handing out wristbands to track purchases. You are likely to get charged more than you would expect. The payment system slips in charges for tips. Some of the menu items don't have visible prices. The staff doesn't hand out receipts, so you might not see the bill until it appears on your credit card a month later. Watch your money if you go here. read more

We are baffled at how bad this place is food and drink wise. We ordered THREE different major menu items, being excited to try the place. The pizza - sheesh... burnt rubber, as far as the crust goes. Underwhelming is an understatement. The ramen- great flavored water. The noodles were also some form of rubber. The tacos - ordered three different types. The (child sized) tacos we got... and legit.. $5 tacos you can eat in 1.5 bites... chicken tinga is delicious, if you can get over the pillow foam of a tortilla it's served on. What an amazing space and concept. I was around people but had more than enough distance from everyone. Food was great and the drink selection is plentiful. The auto service charge is a great idea. At first I wasn't into it. I'm a dive bar guy, I like to pay for 2 dollar coors lights and a 5 dollar greasy cheeseburger. But that's ok, this is a nice place. And they treat their employees well as far as I can see. You don't even have to worry about tipping. Yes it's expensive. I was pleasantly surprised to attend a networking social at this event venue. The open air concept was perfect for an outdoor friendly day in Denver and we enjoyed rotating from bar to restaurant to outside seating tables easily. With a large group it was comfortable and easy to social distance if you wanted to. I recommend this spot for events and group meetings. I'll be visiting for a concert or movie night in the future. read more

I also really like the RFID bracelet to pay for food/drinks (even though the bill will catch up with you). They also have a dj stage and volleyball court. Drinks - super heavy on beer and cider, all colorado brands which is nice. It would be cool if they had more cocktail options. Food - the reason for the poor review... The fish bao was extremely salty, pork bun bao was dry and the piece of meat was tiny and the kpop fries had a kind of odd cheese sauce with barely any pork. It just felt like no one tried the food before they opened. If they got that down the place would be fantastic. read more

Stopped in this weekend, was a horrible experience for me. I suppose since they automatically charge you a 20% tip, they don't worry about providing good customer service. Rude hipster bartenders who short-poured beers, plus I witnessed one of the sweaty cooks touch his face, then put out raw hamburger on the grill with bare hands, then grabbing buns and prepping meals without washing hands. Grossed me out. Giant area with only a few seats, so be prepared to stand and wait for a table to come open. Mostly disappointed how rude the staff was. This is such a cool space! You get a wristband at the door and that is how they scan to charge you per beer. There is a ton of seating, a volleyball court, and live music a lot of the time. Plenty of televisions for people who want to watch sports. We brought a deck of cards and met up with 12 people, had no problem finding seating, and hung out and drank for hours. Can't understand how a place can charge a mandatory 17.5% gratuity when the customer is required to serve themselves. My table spent a good portion of our reservation waiting in line to deal with rude staff. Half of my table ended up not ordering food despite being hungry, after witnessing unsanitary actions by multiple cooks in an open kitchen. Imagine what they would do behind closed doors. Don't bother coming and watching the women's world cup. They failed to tell the huge crowd that they had no sound outside till 5 minutes before the game started. And told people to "just be quiet and we can hear the audio from inside". And then played two different feeds so that the people watching the Telemundo broadcast found out goal scores a minute before everyone watching the big screen outside on the YouTube channel, effectively ruining the watch party. A friend of mine organized a private event at the outdoor space here for a going away party for her co-workers and I am honored that I was able to attend this fabulous event! The space itself is so cool, modern and open. You walk in and check in at the front in order to get a bracelet, which is how you'll pay for all your drinks. The bracelet is automatically hooked up to your credit card, so you don't have to worry about taking your card out for each drink and signing and tipping or forgetting your card at the bar! Very cool way to speed things along at the bar and just make the process all around easier (especially after a few drinks). There's a lot of open space inside where the bar and food is. And then outside is really where the action is! We came on a Saturday evening at 6pm and the outside was packed, there's some tables and chairs and then AstroTurf and then stage, which alternated between live music and DJ throughout the night. Seating outdoors seemed a little difficult to secure, but luckily we had an amazing dedicated space. It was roped off for us, and the staff was super helpful at keeping the area secure just for our party. I highly recommend the Gingercello Mule, and they also have a pretty awesome selection of local beers (they're organized by brewery -so you kind of have to walk around to see everything they have to offer). All the bartenders were super friendly. They also have some yummy food, I had the fish tacos which were great, but everything from the loaded fries to the bowls all looked great. read more

Cool place but extremely rude employees. When my party was checking in, a woman at the front with short blonde hair asked us (4 of us standing together) if we had been helped. I responded "no" and she said "I wasn't talking to you" (but apparently her question was directed to another person in our group standing just to my right). Amy, the events manager, was a pleasure to work with - the food was delicious, drinks were flowing and the ambiance was great - we had our own section cordoned off, with couches and tables and chairs and we brought in silent disco which was a blast!
