Date night with another couple and were excited to try Briar Common Brewery. First - super cool building. Love the vibes, the interior decor and second floor + outdoor patio options. We didn't take advantage of the patio vibes or rooftop deck with a fire pit, but this is still on our list! While waiting for a table, we cozied up to the bar and ordered drinks. One of the bartenders noticed I ordered the hibiscus margarita and asked me, offhandedly, if I was a fan of spice. Yes, please. With that, he cancelled my order and made me something "not on the menu" but what I called the "Patrick special." So good. Thanks, sir! We ordered burgers and shared their buffalo cauliflower starter. This, my friend, was absolutely amazing. Loved the buffalo spice paired with the bleu cheese. Easy way to enjoy some veggies. And along the same theme, I ordered the Buff and Bleu burger. This was so good, so flavorful and so messy. Don't judge me, but I resorted to using my fork, lol! It was so well balanced. Will have again. Parking here means street parking, but there were plenty of open spots on a Saturday night. The walk was nice. We can't wait to return, maybe on a game day, or maybe to enjoy Sunday brunch on the rooftop. Maybe a sunset for another date night. We came to Briar Common the day after moving to Denver, and it ended up being exactly the kind of spot we needed after a long weekend of hauling boxes and settling in. Great location, relaxed vibes, especially on a Sunday evening. The beer was solid, but the food stole the show (mostly across the board). Most of our group was happy with their dishes. I had the steak sandwich with a side salad, and the sandwich was top tier. I'm a sucker for a good sandwich, and this one absolutely hit the spot. It was also pretty large, which made it more of a fork-and-knife situation than a handheld one, but no complaints there. A few people in our party upgraded their sides to the sweet potato fries, which were next level. Perfect balance of crispiness with a hint of sweetness that made them stand out. One miss in the group was the mac and cheese; my sister ordered it and wasn't a fan, felt it was too liquidy/runny and underwhelming compared to everything else we tried. Only minor knock overall was that the kitchen was pretty slow, especially considering it wasn't very busy late on a Sunday evening. Not a dealbreaker, but something worth noting if you're in a hurry. I hate to leave bad reviews but unfortunately this place just completely missed the mark for me. Prior to our reservation, I tried calling 10+ times through the day (during business hours) because we needed to update our reservation. However, no one answered the phone once. Other people in the reservation even tried calling in case it was my phone that was the issue but it was not. Once we arrived, staff were very kind and attentive to our table which was very appreciated. I have nothing but kind words to say about the staff. However, I ordered the Mac n cheese which came out practically like soup. The sauce was very liquidy so I felt like I was drinking my Mac. Unfortunately, I did not eat much because of this. The sweet potato fries were delicious especially with the cinnamon on them. My friends ordered burgers and enjoyed their meals. Overall, the restaurant had a cool vibe to it and the drinks were great. I just wish we were able to have our phone calls answered to update the reservations and I wish the Mac n cheese was less soupy! read more

Great spot tucked right into the neighborhood. As much as Denver has grown this place looks and feels like what I knew from nearly 20+ years ago. The staff is down to earth and welcoming. Even though we came on a slower night it just felt good as the restaurant was slowly filling up. I ordered the Pub Nachos but silly me I forgot to add a protein. My bad but I would certainly return to do just that and spend some time hanging out a bit. The nachos were good as is and the homemade chips had the texture of plantains but not really. tough to describe but overall I would certainly order them again. Would recommend this place and would even try the other dishes too. We were in a bit of a crunch due to the Avs playing and getting to the Can but next time I'll have to spend a little more extra time to soak up the vibe! read more

Our group from different states enjoyed early tailgating at this establishment. We arrived before opening and the folks in line were very friendly. Once the doors opened we walked in and took the stairs for outdoor deck seating. Beautiful day and locally brewed beverages gave everyone a break before walking to the stadium. The kitchen menu had some great options but the delivery schedule to the tables did not allow us to try the buffalo cauliflower!!! Server was great and gave us a good suggestion to share the steak sandwich and poke salad since we wanted to try both and were unsure of what to order. Poke salad was very fresh and tasted amazing. I always get nervous with poke salads after having some bad protein at different restaurants in the past, but this one was really good, fresh and delicious. Don't be afraid to try it!!! Drinks: The Freckled Rhu-Barbie is really good!!! One in a Melon is good, but I'd take the Freckled Rhu-Barbie instead. Mid day on a Tuesday afternoon - this place was mellow. Wanted a nice, relaxing meal when we arrived to Denver, and Briar Common checked all the boxes! We sat in their outdoor patio, which kept us shaded from the heat and had a nice breeze with a view of the park. Plus, they allow dogs on their patio. Always a bonus! So many delicious options. After looking it up, we knew we had to try their Buffalo Cauliflower. And oh my god - the reviews didn't lie but still somehow undersold this cauliflower. Perfectly crisp and smothered in a creamy buffalo sauce. We got it as an appetizer to share for the table, but it would've been just as good as a meal as well. Their Filet o Beer sandwich was also tasty, and I found myself really enjoying the fries, too. Not often do you enjoy both, but here that was the case. Great drink, options. Their Lost Summer Days Sangria was delicious. They also make a good espresso martini. Fan of Earl Grey? Then you'll love their Fade to Black - always a rarity to find Early Grey-flavored drinks, but they crafted this so well. Service was incredible. Wish I remembered her name, but our server was fantastic. I mis-ordered a drink, but didn't say anything because it was my fault. She heard me mention it, though, and offered to make a new one. So sweet! Parking wasn't too bad - we found street parking right across the street. I'd imagine it would be a bit harder to find parking when it's busy, though - we visited mid afternoon during the week. Overall, a great choice for lunch or a drink out with friends. My last bite before flying out and it was perfect - light yet filling and delicious ! Parking: There's street parking in the area. There were a lot of signs about times you could park there, which was confusing ... Seating/ space: There's space was cute and had a casual but nice vibe. There were regular tables, high tops, and bar seating . There was an upstairs as well but I don't think it was open. There seemed to be a patio also Service: The service was great. Everything here was solid, but nothing was mind-blowing. The Buffalo Cauliflower was very good, and the blue cheese sauce was nice and creamy with just a hint of the blue cheese tang without it being overpowering. The Brussels sprouts were yummy, Briar Burger very good and the melty egg was a great touch. Only issues (and no deal-breakers, just minor complaints) were the Rosemary Fries needed *lots* more rosemary, and the service was... not slow, but, lackidaisical is probably the best word. Definitely would come back, though. Lots of stuff on the menu sounded really good and overall the food was quite good. read more

The food and beer were great. The buffalo cauliflower was my favorite. Perfect amount of buffalo and a mild blue cheese. Service was pretty slow, served never asked us what we wanted for dinner after serving appetizers and never asked if we wanted another round. We had to wave him down after he cleared the apps and didn't come back to take our dinner order. They just cleared the table after our flight and apps. Over all we were there two hours. read more

Briar was great if you're looking for a good group setting in downtown! They had an extensive beer menu and the waitress was amazing at giving recommendations. The Buffalo cauliflower appetizer was sooo good probably my favorite I've ever had. It was saucy but still crisp underneath. And the goat cheese dip had a tomato jam that paired perfect with the drinks. We came here for dinner at about 7:30 and there was a couple open tables. The host was very kind and helpful with helping us get a car seat sling for our baby. The server was very attentive and helpful with recommendations. Husband got a beer and a Ruben sandwich. He really enjoyed both. I tried the chips that came with the sandwich and they were too salty for me. I got the small plates Mac and cheese and it was enough food for my dinner. I was not a huge fan of the flavor of it, it almost had a burnt taste to it (husband called it earthy). The baby was starting to get antsy so the server got us our bill quickly. read more

Came here for dinner on a weekday night and the food wasn't too bad, just average. My partner got the poke nachos, I think they could have been a little more generous with the fish portion and the chips were a bit on the stale side but the sauces and flavors on the nachos were pretty good. I'm not really used to having pickled onions on my poke nachos, but they had it here and it was alright. I got the chicken plate which was fried chicken, cheesy garlic mash, and the mixed berry compote. The batter on the chicken was tasty and i enjoyed the compote...the mash was a bit on the salty side but wasn't too bad. For dessert, we got the salted caramel brownie, which was a nice shareable portion. Very decadent and rich though, so does get a bit heavy over time. We ended up leaving maybe 1/5 of it leftover. Ambiance is fine, kinda small inside but the day we went it was pretty dead...not sure how busy it can get on the weekends though Parking is just whatever is available on the street, just follow the signs on the street and you should be okay. GF ordered the fried chicken with mashed potatoes. I ordered the poke nachos. The wonton chips were a bit stale, and the fish portion felt a little light. I never had pickled onions with poke nachos and I don't think I'm a fan of the flavor combination. The fried chicken was fried to perfection with a nice thin batter and juicy chicken! The potatoes were a bit salty but packed with plenty of flavor. The service was perfect, we got our food on time and was serviced well. This place is top notch. We've been here a couple of times & always get the buffalo cauliflower, it seems pricey but it's a huge platter that we never finish so in my opinion it's worth it. We've gotten beer in the past but this last time we got mixed drinks & they do a nice job I also appreciate their GF options. My friend & I shared a Rueben w/ GF bread & it was very good. We came for a late lunch & it wasn't busy. We were talking a lot so I'm not sure if that's why service was a little slow but I'd say that was the only complaint I had. Not a great experience overall. Couldn't sit outside even though it was a gorgeous fall day. Average bar food, yet expensive. I would almost put money on betting that was hooters hot wing sauce they used. The weirdest part was I went to the bathroom and there was a line, so a bartender told me there was another one upstairs. Went up there and the soap dispenser ended up being broken. I went back downstairs to wash my hands and tell the bartender. She said, "we know"...so why send me up there?! read more

Probably my favorite food spot in the area. I've had the buff & blue burger, the steak sandwich, and the fried chicken sandwich. All amazing. Sweet potato fries are the way to go for the side. Only thing holding me back from 5 stars is I really wish there was an online order option. I have social anxiety sometimes. read more

Visited for a quick drink with my wife on the afternoon of 4-19-26. Went to the bar and was ignored by the male bartender while he had an extended conversation with another customer. He was not serving or taking an order, just shooting the breeze. I waited for several minutes until I could get someone else's attention. After a while it became clear that he was inebriated - I clocked a THC drink on the counter behind him and his coworkers were visibly frustrated with him. At some point he took an extended phone call outside the patio where we were sitting and was loudly making threats on his phone to someone, just steps away from customers. Normally I enjoy this place but it was just bad vibes all around, and if I ever return and see this dude working, I'll be outta there. read more

The outdoor patio downstairs was great to meet up with friends and was dog friendly. I enjoyed the Cool as a Cucumber cocktail and a beer with my steak frites which was delicious! The Cajun fries had some good spice to it without being too spicy, and the steak was cooked medium rare and tasty! Since it was happy hour, we indulged in some appetizers; the buffalo cauliflower was amazing, and the fries a truly gourmet experience. Our waitress was super attentive and friendly throughout our meal. We ordered beers which we all enjoyed. For food, we ordered burgers and fish and chips. I love that they have a hook under the table where I can hand my bag or anything you have that needs placements. Got a Hobart which was a great beer. To eat I got the common burger sided with sweet potato fries. Everything was great. I just didn't like being charged for ranch. It was a very small cup of ranch and the waiter didn't tell me I'd be charged or else I would not of ordered it . It's a small price but not worth it to pay. read more

Service was really slow, but in their defense it was pretty busy for a Thursday night. I ordered a cocktail and the beer cheese burger with fries. The cocktail tasted like it had no alcohol in it but had a good flavor. It was the raspberry mint fizz. The burger was waaaay too overloaded with beer cheese. My bun was immediately soggy which made it super difficult to eat. The flavor of the beer cheese was overpowering and you couldn't taste really anything else on the burger. My husband and I came for happy hour, and it was an amazing deal! They had a burger and beer combo for $15, a half order of buffalo cauliflower, the chicken schwarma, wine.... It had a great variety of items on it. We didn't care for either the red or the white wine, but the Fellowship of Lupulin was fabulous- like an orange juice mixed with beer, but at 10% abv. I could imagine it at brunch or breakfast and fitting right in. The two of us could barely finish the buffalo cauliflower, it was such a big order, but we really tried, it was so good. It was very spicy, but totally worth it. Loved the melted blue cheese dressing underneath, and our server brought us extra dressing with no issue. The burger was stellar as well, simple with thousand island dressing but so flavorful. While I liked the chicken schwarma, I think I might try the slider trio next time. The schwarma was flavorful, with a house made tzaiki and fresh cucumber and onion. A little messy and difficult to eat, but worth the trouble. The only thing we weren't impressed by was the house made chips- they were ok but not our favorite. Loved the stamped tin ceiling, the service was great, and I absolutely plan to be back to try more items on the happy hour menu. read more

Chill spot to stop for a game and get a quick bite. Food is good but not a knock out.

I came by last night to grab a bite and a beer. I was too late as the kitchen had closed early. The barmaid was very kind and apologetic. I said I would be back today. She was not behind the bar when I arrived, but she greeted me and thanked me for returning. I sat at the and Alec(?) came up to me a few minutes after I settled in. He was friendly and let me taste a few beers before I decided that I would start with the Mexican larger and then have the pale ale with dinner and finish with a whiskey. I got the fall soup to start. It was good, but not outstanding. I then asked his recommendation for dinner. Unfortunately his initial suggestions were not to my mood or had bacon (which I don't do even thought I agree it is delish). He had already started to disengage with me and I had to ask questions a couple of times. I looked over my shoulder to see if he were more concerned about something behind me. He told me that a lot of people like the Ruben and that it is good. Look, it didn't suck, buuuuut I have had many better Ruben's on the west side alone. I asked him what kind of fries that had... he said French fries. I said no I mean are they shoestring or thin or thick or...? He said thick. They are not. Somewhere between shoestring and thin. What a disappointment. Not my "cup of tea". For the crowing capper? He never asked if I wanted another beer. He looked at my glass a couple of times - I told him in the beginning what I was going to order - he just didn't seem to care. Even when I was done and had pushed my plate to his side if the bar and had my card out he served two other drinks and checked out the guy next to me before he took care of me. I left a measly 19% tip (I never tip less than 30% and often even more). Please note, dear reader, that they were not busy. This is no way to earn my business. I shall not return. read more
