    Taiyaki ice cream options
    Lily W.

I won't pass up taiyaki, and I'm super glad I finally got to this shop! So many yummy options! I had an ube pandan taiyaki cone with custard filling and ube drizzle on top, plus some assorted warm filled taiyaki to go. I appreciated that they offered samples so that I didn't have to commit to pandan without knowing if I would like it. Everything was delicious! And the shop has cute decorations.

The horchata flavor is to die for!!! And my mom loves their ube. They can get busy during the summer, but I appreciate that they still let us sample and take their time to help customers. The store is always clean too!

1/26/26 Update!! Getting dinner to share!! Arrived! Greeted. Very kind worker. Ordered the Ube ice cream cup with Ube Taiyaki and Nutella & Oreo 2 pack. Paid for it and the worker made it right up and offered it to-go along with a bag. Received good day wishes too! Nice inside. Safe $ clean with tables & chairs. Cute set up! Dinner! Ube Taiyaki Ube cup split. My half was DELICIOUS! Perfect sweetness!! Flavorful! Oreo Taiyaki was GREAT too!! Not too sweet! Just Right!! Mother said her Ube 1/2 & Nutella Taiyaki was REALLY GREAT!! Her Favorite!! Great service & GREAT dinner! Highly recommended!!

Came here for a sweet treat. Everything was made fresh and was good. My mom got the pizza one and said reminded her of a pizza pocket and was good.

We don't really have anything like this in Fresno that makes fresh Taiyaki. We live coming here to get a cold sweet treat! They make the Taiyaki in house and is made to order so you know it's fresh. They are always coming out with new soft serve flavors, one of my fav is their milk tea flavor which I hope they bring back! We got their pandan and ube swirl soft serve and it was such a great combo! Love the flavors together. The Taiyaki is soft and crispy. Super yummy to pair with the your order. You can add toppings of your choice at the end. Our order came out about 5 mins. Not a long wait time at all. The staff are young and friendly. They have some indoor seatings but limited since the establishment is pretty small.

Nummy yummy is pretty small, not much seating! The inside is simple and the workers seem nice. Flavors are always changing so check their insta for updates. The menu layout is displayed with steps and flavors (helpful!!) Personally I think for the amount that you're getting, the portions don't justify the price, but maybe that's just me being cheap lol. It's much smaller than I thought it would be! I got the cup with the tayaiki. But it was still pretty good! I really like the taiyaki, so yum with the ice cream!!! Ice cream melts fast, eat quick

Location: Nummy Yummy Date: July 8th, 2025 Service: staff Recently stopped by for a yummy treat I got two items the pizza filled one and the soft served ice cream. The store front is clean and menus are posted up everywhere for the customer to view and order. There's a big parking lot on site for the public. There's service was excellent and my food was ready in under 10 minutes. Happy treats to you. Check out the photos.

    Matcha Ube

I am here at least once a week! The ube seems to be a regular flavor and it's solid--sweet, creamy, with that signature root-y/starchy richness. Stains your tongue purple lol! No complaints there. The matcha, though, is probably one of the more accurate tasting matcha treats I've had in Fresno. It actually tastes like matcha! earthy, slightly bitter, and not overly sweet. Unfortunately, it's not always available since they rotate flavors monthly, which is a bit of a letdown if you're specifically going for that. I've also tried the pistachio soft serve during a previous visit. It's not bad, but it does taste artificial-- reminds me of tasting perfume. Still enjoyable, just not something I'd go out of my way for again. Portions are on the smaller side. Would've liked a bit more since it's easy to finish pretty quickly! (Addicting) I usually get the taiyaki (fish) with red bean filling. The red bean is on the sweeter side but has a nice consistency(not too gritty which I like.) Occasionally, the taiyaki feels slightly undercooked or maybe just not enough time to cool down from how busy the shop gets--but still decent overall. For two of these Taiyaki cups is about $15. The space is small and there's usually a wait outside, so just something to keep in mind.

Came in on a Wednesday afternoon, no other customers. Took about 10 mins for me to get my food. I got one pepperoni takiyaki and a 5 pack of the warm takiyakis. Delicious btw. I'm not a sweets person and I'm just glad they have salty options. The pepperoni one by far my favorite. Especially the parts where the cheese oozed out and got charred. Yum. I'm still thinking about it. I'd definitely come back for that. (5/5) The Oreo flavor was just a Oreo inside. That one was surprisingly good. I do wish they added some cream or something on the tail end because it was just batter. (4/5) The custard was good but I do wish it was a tad bit sweeter. Nothing wrong with that, just a personal preference. If you enjoy Asian sweetness levels this is it for you. Sweet but not too sweet. (4/5) Overall, I'd come again. Pepperoni is where it's at . The service was quick. But I do wish they offered more drink options.

Nummy Yummy is an excellent dessert option to beat the Valley heat! I ordered ube soft serve in a plain taiyaki. The soft serve was creamy and refreshing but the real star was the taiyaki! Taiyaki was made fresh with a golden brown and crispy exterior and slightly chewy on the inside. Ube cone gets a bit messy so grab a bunch of napkins! Service was super friendly and though very busy, wait time was reasonable. There are two small tables inside with 4 chairs total so expect to either stand or take advantage of the 2 large benches outside ( both of which are in the shade). I'm looking forward to returning and trying the 5 pack taiyaki. They also have a reward program that you can easily enroll in by providing your phone number.

Such a fun spot for a fun treat! Taiyaki is a unique cold treat if you're looking for something to cool you off in the summer. They have different combinations you can choose from and it'll never disappoint!

Omg you guys, we just had the best ice cream today at Nummy Yummy. Husband got honey & strawberry ice cream with red bean filling, I got ube ice cream with custard filling, and Amy got strawberry ice cream with Nutella filling. All the toppings were at no additional cost! I got Fruity Pebbles, sprinkles, and hot fudge. This was the best ice cream place I've been to in Fresno!!! I'm already looking forward to go back and try the other flavors. I was hoping they still had their Thai Tea flavor, but it wasn't there anymore :(

I saw them when I was driving around and been wanting to try their snacks. First impression the venue is very small only 2 tables so it gets crowded quick. Price wise it was $11 for 5 of them. The staff is very friendly and they are trying to keep up with the customer demand so be patient with them. I ended up taking them home and had them with the kids with milk. They enjoyed them and kinda cool food item. Definitely recommend them if you are out and about with the kids or on a date.

The staff there are incredibly sweet and great at describing the flavors. We ended up getting a flight consisting of everything but the bagel, berry basil, bourdeaux(?), and my husband chose the last flavor which I don't remember but had peanut butter flakes lol. All were delicious! My favorite that I would definitely get again was the berry basil, such a unique combination that has almost a savory-ness to it. The everything but the bagel was interesting-maybe a little too savory for me? It was a cream cheese base but was so interesting when you get big bites of onion lol. Definitely worth a try though!

Dare I say Ampersand serves some of the best ice cream around…read more Their menu strikes a great balance between classic staples and an ever changing lineup of seasonal flavors. The flavor intensity here is no joke. When you order one of their more adventurous combinations, expect it to make a strong impression. Because the flavors are so concentrated, I find their small size more than sufficient. My go to flavor is always the Honeycomb. The ice cream base is exceptionally creamy and every scoop is packed with mix-ins rather than having them clustered in a few bites. Ampersand excels at rich, dairy forward flavors and the ingredients always seem thoroughly infused into the base. Some of my other favorites include Madagascar Vanilla, Whiskey Caramel Swirl, and seasonal offerings like Egg Nog and Vanilla Rum Raisin. That said, I have found the sorbets and heavily spiced flavors to be less successful. Options such as the Thai Tea and Chai Tea occasionally had a grittier texture, with noticeable remnants of tea leaves lingering in both the mouthfeel and finish. The vegan flavors were similarly bold and flavorful, but their texture was not quite as smooth or enjoyable as the traditional dairy based options. The staff is always friendly and generous with samples, making it easy to explore the menu before committing. While there are plenty of excellent choices, I remain in the camp that Honeycomb is the flavor to beat.

We were in town the morning after seeing the Firefail. Finally success on the third visit attempt. Amongst other shops on the desolate street stood an unremarkable window front where the repeat button has remained on since the 60s. Within was an eclectic mix of Japanese American household fixtures and Americana. Rustic. Nothing like Benkyodo's proper shelf presentation - or a hamburga stand. Some Japanese goods were on offer, but you come here for something sweet. We got a couple of mochi and manju, traditional red bean flavors, because that's all that was left. Their manju, seeming to have a different "batter" and "panini"-grilled, had a crumbly texture. The mochi though... Have you seen that viral video of that slapping mochi shop in Nara? What about people enjoying it? How soft it was, leaving a vegan cheese pull with every bite? This was by far the softest mochi I've ever had, and I thoroughly enjoyed the soy dusted yomogi. The bigger size of the mochi also accentuated the softness of the mochi. The matcha, also green, had a distincting different flavor, just so you know that the shop wasn't cheating. My partner in crime loved the lima bean mochi. The red bean filling tasted homemade, good flavor but not too sweet - the best compliment you can give an Asian in a world that remains overrun by pollo ala naranja. We are proud* that such a heritage perseveres on, especially in a part of town that's honestly become quite desecrated of life. Call ahead to see if the shop is open, and try to come early. The shop is a one woman show, and if my first two visits say anything, this lady enjoys having a life. And yes, she does sell out. She was nearly sold out when we visited. And try to enjoy the mochi ASAP. The mochi will last in the fridge. The texture will not. If you come at the right time of the year, the shop will have mochi in different fruit and pie flavors, and even ice cream mochi. *OK, "I'm proud of you" might be a bigger compliment to an Asian. And yes, there's Fugetsu in LA, but I haven't been. Though if you need a reason to visit the Fresno, you can always take the 99 traveling between SoCal and NorCal... Just need to be early if much is desired. If you're interested in AYCEat mochi, staying healthy, working out for free, and have an eye for the art of making mochi, may I suggest asking the owner for an apprenticeship? The owner's mentioned on articles that there's no one to take over and you don't become a master overnight.
