I ordered it in advance I paid the deposit this way when I went to pick it up I didn't have to stand on the long line I had to stand on the prepaid line and the servers was happy to assist me and to give me my order. I got the tiramisu cake for the colleague which is their favorite I ordered that and I took it myself to my job everyone was pleased everyone was happy with the celebration. This is the first time that I had gone to this bakery. There's seating inside and outside. It seems very popular and when we got there in the afternoon, it seemed a little picked over which isn't a bad thing. It's just the way it is. We aren't from here and so we had to travel a couple hours to go to the shopping center. I did end up getting an oatmeal cookie with chocolate chips and a snickerdoodle cookie. Both were very good and I enjoyed them. They had other options for food and coffee, but we were planning to have dinner and I didn't want to ruin my appetite so I stuck with the cookies. If I went back, I would say getting there a little earlier and maybe taking more advantage of the menu. read more

We were looking for a bakery to buy some cakes in Fresno area because it was the kiddo's birthday, and Yelp was able to show me this bakery. The bakery is located in a shopping plaza at Shaw and it looks like one of those high-end places in Fresno. So we found a bakery, which was at that time for people dining inside and outside because they do have brunch menu. luckily we're able to find that there's a separate line for the bakery items and the line, although ling, was quick when it was our turn. We had difficulty choosing which cakes to get but we were able to ask around what are the recommendations we were able to get their top selling cake which is a vanilla cake that has fruit compote in the middle and fruits as decoration. I think it was around $47 for this particular cake. When we got home, it kept well when we had our birthday celebration. We didn't have to put it back in the fridge. By the time we got to eating the cake. It was perfectly thawed and surprisingly delicious. It was moist and full of the fruit compote - they did not skimp on the fruit. It was lovely and highly recommended. When I come back to Fresno, I'd probably try their brunch items. Four stars for their cake. read more

Inside/outside seating with easy parking and access makes this a Special place. Run by a REAL French baker, I have followed Patrick's success for decades. From simple home baking to this jewel of a bakery he has been relentless in his pursuit of excellence! His Chocolate Cloud cookies are 11of 10 in my book. A full selection of delicious cakes, pastries, breads, make my mouth water every time I enter his doors. The sandwich selection is superb with his homemade bread the basis of each. Oo la la! I've always preferred the Nicoise Cake here for a birthday cake over any other cake here in the Central Valley. To add a little personalization, I just add toys and such as cake toppers. Been doing this for years. Staff here are fast and everything is always so good because the bread and pastries are sold out by end of the day. La Bou... an office fave for sure. I wouldn't call it one of MY favorite places but I do enjoy it whenever I do have it. For lunch, I'd get the Tuna, the Chicken Salad, or the Egg Salad sandwiches... Depending what I feel like eating at the moment. I always get it on the Croissant... croissants just make every sandwich better in my opinion. I usually just get a cup of water and never really get chips-- but, with the Egg Salad sandwich I like it with Hot Cheetos. The cookie they give you is a bonus. All three sandwich options are great. If I had to rank them from my preference? It would be: 1) Tuna 2) Egg 3) Chicken. If I'm really hungry, I'll order the whole sandwich. If not-- half order. As for their bakery... very good. I've never actually ordered anything for myself but our office used to get everyone a cake for our birthdays every year and most of the time they came from La Bou! Obviously, the Nicois is delish. The Cappuccino is one of my faves... anything coffee flavored to be honest. Tiramisu, duh. The Pink Champagne one is good but not my fave. I'm sure all their cakes are good. As for the smaller pastries... I've had the tarts, eclairs, the macs, the cream puffs, and the cupcakes. As long as it's one of the key flavors I always look for-- I'm all in. Sometimes people pick correctly when they gift it to me... other times, I'm glad to try something new lol (no pics of any btw). Limited seats inside and outside, only because they are usually pretty busy/packed. Omg you have no idea how bad I want to gatekeep this place!! First off, prime location! Absolutely stunning. The service is amazing. Victoria was my favorite. She had a great personality and was so kind. She took our pastry/drink order and made us feel so comfortable and answered all of our questions/met our needs since it was our first time in. We got a mocha frappe, a white mocha frappe, a fruit basket cake slice, a cookies n cream cake slice and a lemon cheesecake slice and omg everything was incredible!! I did wish the cheesecake had a more thicker consistency but it still had great flavor. I love how the frosting on the fruit basket cake tasted so airy and subtly sweet, it was perfect. The cookies n cream slice was huge, definitely worth it. The white mocha frappe was my favorite out of the two drinks. This place is the perfect "2010s tuscan aesthetic" cafe. It felt like I walked into a better time entirely. Don't change A THING about this place, especially the decor. It's absolute perfection. Please open an exact replica in Modesto or closer to there! I'm from Folsom but bought a home in Modesto. We were visiting Fresno today but I want this to be my go-to cafe! It's like an hour n a half away from us though and that makes me so sad! Met a friend for brunch at 11:30am on a Friday. This day was quite busy so we stood in line for a few minutes until it was our turn to order. The woman taking my order was very patient and friendly. I ordered a grilled cheese which comes with three different types of cheese. One of them is swiss which I don't like so I was able to get extra provolone. The grilled cheese also comes with tomato which is yummy. Along with the half sandwich I also got a side salad which was fresh. La Bou adds a small, yummy cookie with each order which is yummy too. We found a table for 2 next to the window and enjoyed our lunch. read more

Came here to meet up with a friend. We got 2 ice matchas and sat down to wait INSIDE MIND YOU. To keep close eye at where the drinks were supposed to be picked up and when they weren't ready in five minutes, we got up to check and ask again and they still hadn't come out and then we asked again they still weren't there and then when the final time, my friends and I were a chastised and rudely talk to by a barista while she angrily told us that we waited too long for drinks to be ready, even though we had never heard a name being called or saw our drinks on the pickup. Don't waste your time at the store just head over to Otherside to get better service and barista that cares to walk up your drinks if they are misheard and not loud enough. We will not be visiting again. It is not a large cafe and patrons should never be talked to like that. read more

Beautiful, fresh, and scrumptious! This awesome business is great to visit, and is consistent with quality and flavors! Today we were lucky enough to come across a booth they had at Vineyard Farmer's Market. We purchased a loaf of sliced Raisin Walnut Bread, Portuguese Sweet Bread, and a phenomenal pastry with fresh apricots baked atop. All items were crafted with care and tasted as exquisite as ever! I loved that they had the option of buying a loaf unsliced or sliced. Shared with family, everything was enjoyed! When purchased, their service was friendly and they were super sweet and helpful. What a happy surprise that we came across them today while wandering at the Vinyard Farmer's Market. We love visiting their location at Fig Garden Village, and have for years. Warm and welcoming atmosphere, classic decor, and amazing pastries. We stopped by here for some morning coffee and pastries for the first time after eyeing the business for a while. First off, the pastries are just pretty. I almost didn't want to eat them because they're just nice to look at. And the textures are what they should be; flaky, soft, and crispy even they're supposed to be. The flavors are sharp, and everything tastes homemade. To top it off, prices are reasonable and the staff were understanding and patient with us as we figured out our order. The only negative was the coffee took a little long to be served, but it was serviceable. I wish I can eat their fruit tart and lemon bar every day. Prior to coming here, I tried their carrot cake from my coworker's birthday and it was sooo good. One slice was rich and filling. I knew I had to try their other pastries. I went after 4pm on a weekday and it's located in a really nice area. The inside was pretty and there's also outside seating which was where I sat enjoying the pastries. The employee was friendly and patient with me as I chose the pastries. I ordered the fruit tart, lemon bar, mini bundt cake and a peach filling pastry (I wasn't sure it was a turnover or danish?) lol but everything was good besides the bundt cake because it wasn't that moist. I'm not sure if they changed their recipe, but I do remember the frosting being just perfect. Not too sweet, but this time it wasn't really sweet at all. Almost like they possibly forgot to put sugar in it? Or maybe that's how it always was? I'm not sure. The guests enjoyed the cake. In all honesty the cake alone was great. Fruit/filling great. The owner needs to walk in as a customer and experience their first impression.The floors need to be power washed inside and out. It could use a coat of paint. The food in the display case does not look appetizing, and it could use some creativity the way the food is displayed and embellished. The Eiffiel Tower needs to be upgraded. The quality of the food and the pastries are excellent and will continue to be a favorite of mine, but I want to feel like I'm walking into a Paris bistro and patisserie right in Fig Garden!! I give this five stars, because they have the best French pastry in Fresno. It is all made with butter and SOME of our favorites, there are SO many, are these: cherry danish, apricot danish, nut bar, big flaky croissants, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, fresh strawberry croissants and baguettes, of course! ;) Their morning quiches are buttery, savory and delicious! On the first Tuesday (ONLY) of every month, they bake an ORGANIC, stoneground milled, rye bread that you CANNOT get ANYWHERE else! Pre-order before the first Tuesday. I have even pre-ordered a week or so prior. You will have to pre-pay for the order. They come in one or 2 pound loaves. I have mine sliced and freeze a couple loaves to last me the month. It's a very dense, moist bread. When my brother comes to visit, THIS is the place he wants to be sure to come. . . We sit outside and leisurely enjoy morning pastries, or brunch here. At La Boulangerie, it is easy to pretend that you are NOT in Fresno. The café has fresh delicious food and their salads are fantastic! I enjoy both their Mediterranean and Chinese chicken salads. The side salads (Bowtie pasta, and Potato salad) that come with the soups and/or sandwiches, are equally good! The French Onion, and the Chicken with Wild Rice soup taste homemade with rich and hardy flavors. I also recommend their Grilled Vegetarian sandwich and their Chinese chicken salad on a croissant. I'm leaving this review in the spirit of helpfulness because the outdoor dining area today was truly disgusting. The food we got (eclair) was fine. The service was slow-ish as always (despite not too many customers) but everyone who wants a pastry at La Bou has come to accept slow and not especially friendly service. But when the outdoor eating area, on a gorgeous fall day, is completely out of control and disgusting, it wouldn't matter if you had the best eclair in the world, or fast friendly service. What we saw was completely offputting. The outdoor tables were dirty too. This was not a brief or temporary problem. The area looked like this when we arrived. It looked like this after we waited in the slow line for the eclair. It looked that way the entire time we sat outside at the least dirty table we could find. It looked that way an hour later when we passed by it again after shopping. At no point did we see any employee come outside. No one wiped tables or addressed the trash -- and I mean the situation was beyond "trash" -- you could fairly describe it as "filth." Look at the photos. The only reason they get 2 stars instead of 1 is my sentimentality from when this was a really nice place. What happened? And in Fig Garden Village? I'm surprised the surrounding businesses didn't complain. This does not give "upscale shopping center." It gives "run-down shopping center in distress." Not the vibe FGV is going for. If I'd never been here before, I would never come back. I live nearby and have fond memories of this place so I'll probably check to see if they get the situation under control. A Fresno staple and classic. I am not in any way a "regular" here...I don't meet friends here, have a favorite breakfast order, or know any of the employees by first name. I don't even get the chance to stop by monthly. BUT this is definitely the type of place that has regulars, and also is worth stopping by when you want a delicious breakfast quiche, some freshly baked bread, a decadent cake for a special occasion that looks as amazing as it tastes, or any variety of pastries, mostly of the sweet persuasion, but with a few savory options thrown in. I've tried many other bakeries in town (both newer and older than this place), and for quality, price, and deliciousness, I keep finding myself coming back to this location. And, the only thing on my birthday wish list each year is a cake from La Boulangerie. Some of my family's favorites include the chocolate chip cookies, lemon bars, any of the croissants and the mini fruit tarts. I also love trying their different breads and dinner rolls. The cholla bread is fluffy, chewy, with just the right amount of sweet. And the breakfast quiches are full of goodness, and just the right amount of seasoning. While you will be very lucky to come here when there isn't already a long line, their ticket system of calling folks to the counter runs efficiently, and they are very good at getting you helped and out the door faster than you may expect. I am very grateful that the service has continued to be high quality, even after a change in ownership a while back. Please, La Boulangerie, keep up the good work. I went in today and ordered a apple turnover which they are always changing and then got to a macaron, I get in the car and take a bite of the macaron had walnuts :( I have an allergy to it, had to take a pill and a shot I'm fine by the way. So the point is that I thought by law they HAVE TO HAVE signs put up so people know what they are eating or what the ingredients is at least, when I asked the guy what was the cookie he never said macaron with walnuts and I never even heard of that kind of cookie so now I know too ask so I don't end up dying next time I go there read more

First off, the quality of the espresso and the Lemon cake is the only reason the review is not below 3 stars. Pros: Lemon cake is great (when they have it). The salted toffee iced latte. And the iced white chocolate mocha. (And oat milk options is sprays a positive.) Good customer service. Even with the long lines, they had a lot of employees on hand to keep customers moving. They have a lot of seat's and It's not too loud inside. They also have plenty odd seats outside, and that's where a majority of the customers were on this 77 degree summer day. Cons: LOTS of mosquitoes floating within the cakes/pastries/cookies display. As in the s'mores cookies that we selected was not the one the mosquitos landed on. The chocolate shavings on the s'mores were good, but the s'mores were bland. The Lava cake was not good either. We found their neighboring grocery store's chocolate quality within the pastry was IMMENSELY better. Their lines for baked goods is very long, but...(read above). Lastly, their mocha took about 12 minutes to make. That was after a late and a hot chocolate was made for the other patrons. That isn't a very good speed of service for their business model. Honestly I'm pretty grossed out. I was recommended this place however when I arrived and asked for a pastry, the minute the associate picked up the pastry a nice handful of gnats went flying around. I was so grossed out I said never mind. I almost didn't want to eat anything after that however since I was with a friend who loved this place I didn't want to make a fuss. I ended up ordering something different out of another shelf which didn't appear to have bugs in it. I also ordered an Italian cream soda however upon receiving that they served me an Italian soda. I then had to ask for that to be corrected as well. I would say for this being my first experience they certainly were not having a great day.
