It's been a while since I've been to the bakery, which is just down the street so first of all these greeted by the cashier. She was very nice and asked me what I needed it when I got there. There was so many to pick from. I usually like to get the pork buns, which are my favorite but the second would be the hot dog bun. They really have expanded their menu. It's really a takeout place not to sit down to eat but that's fine. The insight was decorated in Chinese new year, which is the horse. It's been awhile since I've been here and looks there's there's been some updates. Their menu items are on tv screens now and they take credit cards but with a bit of a price difference. Like pork buns are 3.00 cash and 3.09 credit card. But at least that's an option now. Warmly greeted and helped at the front counter when I walked in. Looks like a traditional Chinese bakery with their decor and set up and heard the front counter lady say their food is more based on the south side of China. Their steam pork buns will always be a favorite. I was lucky enough to walk in when they brought out a fresh new batch so it was still nice and warm when I got home. Dough is sweet and fluffy with their bbq pork filling. For 3.00 a bun, it was quite smaller than I remember. The ratio of the dough and filling was also not as portioned. Some bites you just get the dough. First time having their steam chicken buns and was surprised to see that it was sliced chicken with veggies and a slice boiled egg. This was not it for me. It was like eating a stir fry in a bun. Though this bun was bigger and more portioned than the steam pork buns. This was also my first time trying their Shumai dumplings. The flavor was there. A nice umami flavor. But I was missing the bouncy texture of the meat. And for 4 for 7.00 they were pretty small (compared to the dim sum places). Always loved their food and it's been a while since we've made a stop. I was near the area so I decided to get some goodies. We had the Crispy Pork Belly, Pork steamed buns, Chicken steamed bugs with egg, and baked pork buns. The Crispy pork belly was on point as always. Pork steam buns were nice and fresh as well. We decided to get the chicken with egg steam buns because my son loves them but this was a definite no for us. It was bland and no absolute flavor at all, it was actually disappointing. Memorial Day, May 25th 2026 after 12 noon. I like this place prior to Covid BUT Now since reopening there's a new set of staff, bakers and front counter person. This is the 3rd time coming since reopening. The food is not the same in TASTE/FLAVOR. I always get the same thing: $16.00 roasted pork combination plate pork steam bun and a sweet rice cake. This place has changed-for instance prior to Covid the roasted pork had what roasted should taste like. Every bite had flavor, seasoned that penetrated the skin into the meat, (maybe marinating over night?) and the fat was rendered perfectly. Now it's bland- some pieces didn't have any flavor. Pork fat is not rendered thus making the fat chewy, not edible for human consumption. Not to mention with the poke, you get steam rice and the cold jiggly pork dripping on top of cold broccoli. My next item I always purchase is the bbq pork bun. I'm paying $3.00 for slightly smaller bun that has a hint of a sweet and dry bun as evident the parchment paper didn't stick to the bottom of bun. The bbq pork had MINIMAL and as well dry, not a hint of sauce mixed the meat inside the bun. Lastly the $3.00 Ube sweet rice cake, in my opinion was brushed with too much oil, so the src won't stick to each other was too greasy for me. I was eying the 4 for $7 shumai but could see spending that much for a quarter size bite. My $22 lunches was a bust, again! For these reason, I am taking into account items have increased due to post Covid, gas prices and this administration's inflation, I'm giving: 1 star for quantity: spending more for a smaller serving 1 star for taste/flavor/quality- food just not hitting that mark. A Fresno staple. The pineapple bun (doesn't have pineapple in it) is my favorite, tastes but not too sweet. And for savory the bbq pork bun is great! A little on the sweet side. If you like a classic ma & paw Bakery joint then this is the place to go. I've always ordered the Chinese barbecue pork buns from this location and this restaurant they're the only place that makes the best barbecue pork buns. In my opinion. Their service is always quick and swift and also expect to smell roasted dock or roasted chicken mixed with Chinese pastries, and dim sum when entering. Everything is reasonably priced and super tasty and just so fulfilling. I recommend this place for anyone who isn't quite into all that new flashy type of restaurant. It's still located up north from where I stay, but also I will always drive to this spot anytime I'm craving a barbecue pork bun. As they're on displayed for hours, the fried items end up being a tad greasy and limp. *Fried Pork Dumpling: was crispy and golden when I first visited but subsequent orders were oily and soft. The meat filling was salty, sweet and umami with an occasional juicy, savory bite of mushroom. There could have been a bit more meat filling inside though. *Egg Tart: the crust was mostly flakey but the center was soft from the oil. The custard was mildly sweet with subtle creaminess. The flavor wasn't the most pronounced I've tried and I wished there was greater browning on top. They're a bit small for $3. (Pictured) charsui pork served with a ton of rice and broccoli. Delicious in its on right however nothing to go running home about. 3/5 stars for me. Wish it came with a noodle option or a dipping sauce . Service was good, a quick in and out establishment. No seats to dine in. My only con is it's CASH ONLY. It has always been cash only which can be a little inconvenient. Ordered a roast pork over rice today, the lady up front was very nice & greeted us upon entering. She told the man in the back of our order and we didn't wait too long either since there wasn't anyone except a couple dining in. I cannot speaking to authenticity, however comparing the buns in Seattle these fall short. I ordered the BBQ Pork baked and steamed ... I also tried the hot dog bun as well as the roasted pork plate. The baked buns were a little doughy on the bottom making them super soggy. I was pleased with the amount of meat, but a little too much fat for my liking. The plate ... the pork belly had a lovely crust in it. However, I am not used to more than half fat to meat ratio. I did not end up eating it. My favorite thing was the hotdog bun sadly. There's a gas station in the same shopping center that has an atm. The food definitely has potential, but the pastries were served room temperature and the roasted duck bowl was served in a container that does not retain heat well. We ate about 30 mins after and the food was already cold. This place would definitely benefit from heating up their food before serving:) The roasted duck is served with steamed broccoli and a thin delicious sauce made from the drippings. I also got the steamed pork bun, baked pork bun, egg tart, and ube mochi bun. Definitely recommend the baked bun over the steamed bun. Small little bakery in a strip mall setting on the corner of Herndon and cedar, in the bad buds gas station shopping area. More of a grab and go place . When we went ,there was a line and rightfully so. You can purchase meat that they cook ( pork and duck) by the pound or get their yummy buns.
