Finally got to give this a try! We came pretty late so there wasn't much options to choose from. Which is okay since the options left we pretty good still. Walking in the walls are covered with a little back story about the place. We decided to get the custom 6 pack, total for that is $30. I found it to be kind of on the pricey side. One person was working, she seem pretty nervous and I had a lot of questions so I didn't want to bother her too much lol so I asked her to just do what she thinks will be best with the options I chose. I guess they fill up your puffs with whatever filling you want. Flavors to choose from would be vanilla, chocolate, green tea and I'm not sure what else since the screen wouldn't stop moving so it was hard to decide what they had to offer. For the puffs itself we got the matcha, strawberry shortcake, Dubai chocolate and a raspberry cookies and crème. The quality of the cream puffs were delicious, you can taste all the ingredients. Not too sweet and the texture is nice. What a pleasant way to end the day. It was definitely worth trying.
When we walked in, we were greeted by a young lady who seemed kind of shy. We didn't know what they served but thought they were donuts. She told us they were large cream puffs. The flavors were good and not too sweet. I wasn't really a fan of the shell. The inside tasted like pudding with a weird textured thin bread. Maybe it was old since we went later in the day. But it is neat that they offer different fillings. The inside was simple and clean. There were only a couple of tables and some chairs. So it wasn't really a social place. We ended trying three favors, vanilla, chocolate and ube. Vanilla tasted the best to us, but this place isn't somewhere I'd return for dessert, it was expensive for something small in my opinion.
So happy to see that they have a Beard Papa's here in Clovis. Coming from the Bay Area, this sweet treat has been a staple in our household. We have to have a cream puff at least once a month. Anytime I come into Beard Papa's to order some cream puffs, I usually order 2 dozens-- and each time, the workers have always been patient and very accommodating. I do not mind the wait, considering it is a larger order than what people usually get. But you are able to watch the workers prepare your cream puff through the glass while you wait. With each cream puff you have the ability to choose your shell and your custard filling. It's very customizable to your favorite flavors, which is also awesome if you're feeling adventurous to try something new. Would highly recommend the original shell with powdered sugar sprinkled on top and their seasonal ube shell! As for the custard filling, vanilla has never disappointed. I usually order to-go but there are a few tables inside to enjoy your treats. Especially when the heat starts kicking in the valley, its a better idea to enjoy it indoors. They also recommend that with to-go orders that you refrigerate if you're not eating it right away; just so that the cream puffs are fresh before serving.

The staff as very patient with me having a hard time deciding. I was very skeptical in trying as the shells looked think and filling very sugary BUT boy was I wrong. It was the perfect balance of shell to cream. I had the green tea shell with vanilla filling. The filling was amazing!! Great consistency, perfect sweetness to creamy texture (I say Asian sweet not American sweet). The shell was soft, not soggy and my favorite was the little crunch on the bottom. My husband and daughter had a chocolate shell with chocolate filling. And was told it was the best!! This is a definitely return! I can't wait to try more flavor combinations.

I gotten 2 of each filling flavor for my 8 piece mini puffs and it was delish! I cannot pinpoint a fav, it was all good. Also gotten the jap cheesecake, s'mores eclair and a green tea. Again, good! This is a chain & I once had in the bay which I thought was mid, but this second time around it was so good! The location is in the same area as the Ross and Spouts. Good location, terrible parking lot. The business itself was very spacious and clean. Cute wall decor. The person that helped was REALLY patient and helpful!
We got the S'more's, crème brûlée, chocolate eclair and honey butter eclair... all were with vanilla custard and were amazing.. custard and puff pastry were both light and flavorful. The crème brûlée was my absolute favorite. Only down side is we ordered delivery and they were stacked on top of eachother. Would have been a 10 out of 10 if they were individually packaged.

The price is ok and they do have a deal when you buy more. Tried their drink samples before; a bit sweet for me. Staff is friendly. Place is big, but not really a place to hang out, however.
Cream puff heaven! My brother and sis in law swear by this bakery. If you've been wondering about this place, don't wonder anymore and just come in! The scents will have you decided you need a treat and once you've consumed it, you're going to want to come every week. Oh wait, is that just me? Lol I think not! I'm surprised they had what was left an hour before they closed. We chose: the valentines eclair with raspberry crème filling, Strawberry eclair with chocolate crème filling Ube eclair with vanilla crème filling Cookie crumble with vanilla crème filling Strawberry cheese bake and fluffy cheesecake Try one of each! lol They fill your puffs right after you order. When we got home after dinner, they were perfectly puffy and not soggy for dessert. So yummy! Can't wait to come back.

I ordered the strawberry Cheesecake Crème Brûlée. The inside was filled with cheesecake and custard filling. It wasn't as sweet as I thought it would be. Which was a good thing. It was just right. Tanya got the orange Crème Brûlée. The young lady working explained the history of Bread Papa's and how they make these delicious treats fresh daily. A must stop on your foodie checklist if you're in Fresno.

I love sweets/desserts of all kinds so I pretty much knew I would enjoy these creme puffs but I actually LOVED them. Have to go back soon! We were greeted nicely when we walked in. Not busy on a Friday night, kind of early. They had many flavors to choose from, I tried the Strawberry and a the classic vanilla one. Omg both were so tasty! So much cream inside the pastry was perfect. Neat place to sit and enjoy your treats. Love the cute decor.
The lady behind the counter was so kind and patient while we looked at their menu. It was our first time here. I used to think this place was expensive, but after trying it, I changed my mind. One cream puff is huge! (about the size of 3 average size cream puffs combined) And it is generously filled with the delicious cream. Trust me, as someone who used to be a skeptic, it's totally worth it! The place was cute and the food was cute and they have so many different things to choose from. Ordered seven cream puffs through doordash, every single one came fresh and the packaging was really nice. Amongst all the cream puffs, my favorites were the honey butter with vanilla filling, the green tea with green tea filling, and the apricot custard cheesebake. The other flavors were okay, they just didn't stand out to me as much and the shells were soft, which I know is probably how Beard Papa's is supposed to make them but I personally would've liked just a little crisp on the outside and maybe a little more buttery flavor but thats just me tho. The fillings weren't too sweet, which I like but I think they could've used just a tiny bit more sweetness because they were kinda borderline bland. As for pricing, I know doordash marks everything up, so I'm not judging them based on the prices I paid through doordash. Looking at Beard Papa's regular prices on yelp, I still think they're a little higher than what I would've expected for cream puffs, but not by a lot or anything. Overall though, I thought they were pretty good, and I'd probably go back, just probably not for every craving. read more

Came back here after not stopping in for a while. Still 5 stars and still love this cute little spot! I tried the Japanese style cheesecake and the chocolate fondue cake for the first time, and they were both excellent without being overly sweet or rich. read more

Fresno County has its first Beard Papa's! Their iconic cream puffs are the absolute standard. The Japanese seem to have perfected the cream-filled pastries. Known for its distinct crispy top shell, crunchy and chewy outer layer baked to a science using egg-filled batter, hollow center that is filled with the freshest crème pâtissière. It is noticeably better (fluffier, fresher, creamier, tastier) than anything you can find from an American bakery in my opinion. And I'm not Japanese. To all you novices, Beard Papa's also has a variety of flavored cream fillings and toppings, including Chocolate, Matcha, Honey & Butter, Cookies N' Cream, along with their famous Original (no top coating). I will be anxiously waiting to see this location make the strawberry ones. Look for weekly or holiday deals. The current promotion (as of the date of this review) let's you get one free Original cream puff ($3.50) if you order five. Clovis needed a Beard Papa's! This location is in the same plaza as the Sprouts off of Herndon and Clovis Avenues. Heard lots of good about this place. Time to check it out! Great music playing! The worker was really nice and happy to give recommendations. Safe, clean and practiced. All are empty shells. You pick what shell you want and the kind of filling. I ended up picking a s'mores shell with vanilla inside and cookies and cream shell with chocolate inside. Paid for the order. The worker then filled it up & put it in a bag with well wishes to enjoy! =) Each cream puff was really delicious! Flavorful! Both, even better with the cookies and cream, chocolate and marshmallow toppings! Definitely a great change! Never had a cream puff before. Great service and delicious cream puffs! It was pretty disappointing...honestly not as good as I thought it would be. I've had Japanese cream puffs in Japan and these were different. Has a harder layer when you bite into it and although the cream is delicious, it's nothing super special. So sad because everything from Japan is usually delicious. read more

We just discovered this place and it looks like there are multiple flavors to choose from... more than the prior photos posted. Was pleasantly surprised to see an ube option and had to try it along with the green tea and strawberry eclairs.... The ube shell with the vanilla custard filling was AMAZING and I look forward to eating all other ones we got. While you can get ice cream in the middle instead of custard, the custard was so good and heavenly, I don't think I'd choose that option. And will definitely be returning in the future Edit: the ube shell is a little more subtle flavoring compare to the chocolate or green tea shell. And the green tea custard was magnificent. My husband who loves custard, but not a big fan of green tea even loved it. Edit: the Oreo shell is tasty as well as the chocolate filling. Also enjoyed the strawberry shell (maybe there will be a strawberry custard in the future?). Lastly the pumpkin custard (with the original shell) was a good seasonal custard. read more
Our first time visiting this place. I didn't know what to expect so we went in and there was some customer waiting on line to be attended. When we got to the window they young worker asked us if it was our fist time and So she was so kind explaining to us how the cream puffs were served and the flavors that they had. I love cream puffs but These are kind of custard kind of cream puffs. They have three types of fillings. Green tea, vanilla and chocolate. Also they have different flavors on top of the puffs. They have Oreo cookies, strawberry, chocolate, honey and the plain one. Since they have the special of buying 5 and getting the 6th one for free we decided to get the special. So we got two Oreo cookies one with chocolate filling and the other one with vanilla. Also we got one honey with vanilla filling. We also got the green tea with vanilla filling and the plain was with green tea filling. The last one was my favorite. I think next time I will get two or three of the plain ones with the different fillings. To my taste I prefer them like that. But it's because I don't like my sweet too sweet. We got our puffs and a decent time. They are fast. They were also freshly baked. And they were so crispy. This was something new and delicious. I wanted something sweet and we found this place browsing Yelp. They have great reviews and that's how we decided to come and try their puffs. Very pleasant visit and good flavor. read more
Perfectly crispy and light with the right temperature cream. So much better than those cream puffs you can find in the grocery store ... those shouldn't even be called cream puffs in comparison! Reminds me of the first time I had Beard Papa's! They did it right. Sometimes I have had it where the pastry part is not the right texture and it just ruins it but this was spot on. I had seen Beard Papa's a couple of times on Instagram and the name always threw me for a loop. I love me a good pastry, so I was super curious to try this place when I saw it had opened. It seems like people who've enjoyed it in other parts of the state were really excited for them to arrive here in Clovis. I can see why. My husband and I stopped by on a Friday night after dinner to get some dessert. The young lady at the counter was super keen to help us and ran through the menu with us. I didn't realize the puffs are filled to order. So you choose the shell you want - I think there are about 6 options (plain, chocolate, strawberry, matcha, honey and oreo), and 4 kinds of cream filling (vanilla, strawberry, matcha and chocolate). They seem to be adding to the menu as they go. They also have a chocolate fondant cake which I'm keen to try next time. They had a deal on 6 for the price of 5 so we freestyled on some flavor ideas and loaded up. It was definitely too many, I maxed out after eating 2. They were really good, though. My husband's favorite was the matcha topping and vanilla cream - though he wants to try matcha/matcha next time. The server thought it would be overkill so he demurred this time. For me it was the chocolate top and vanilla filling. The strawberry top with chocolate filling was a bit too far on the sweet side for me. The shells are crisper than I expected, they're definitely not soft pastry like a European puff. The filling is somewhere between a thick cream and a custard. Although it wasn't what I anticipated, it was a really tasty treat and I can definitely see myself going back at least every other month. read more

If you're looking for a dessert that is perfectly sweet with a filling that will leave you craving for more, MUST TRY IT! You can't go wrong with the classic, my personal favorite cream is the classic vanilla with green tea eclair shell. I'M SO EXCITED! I have always been a fan of Beard Papa's so when I found out they were opening one in Clovis I was so happy! The place is new and clean with classic Beard Papa decor. read more
Must try deliciousness! These puff pastries comes in original, chocolate, honey and butter, green tea, cookies and creme. My husband and I bought all five shells. You choose your fillings they offer vanilla, green tea, chocolate and strawberry. They ran out of strawberry filling but we tried the rest. All very delicious with a nice crunchy shell and custard like filling. The original shell was my favorite with a chocolate filling. I loved the simplicity of the taste it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. The vanilla was a bit sweet for my taste. We also ordered a chocolate fondant it was nice a warm with a nice chocolate filling. We really enjoyed these sweet treats and will be coming back for more. Current special promo Buy 5 puff pastries and get 1 free which was a bummer because we didn't get our free puff! read more
Went here on a Saturday evening an hour before closing time and they only had honey butter shells that night because the customer before me made a big order :( Then they said it was going to take about 30 mins for the other flavors. I really wanted to try the green tea eclair but I just settled for the honey butter with a chocolate filling. It was really good tho!! I hope when I come next time, there will be more shells available. read more
Friendly staff who asked if you have ever been to a Beard Papa and if you haven't they tell you how everything works. Yummy cream puffs. Love that you can mix and match the puffs with different fillings. Clean shop and love that they're in Clovis. read more
