What followed instead was one of the most uncomfortable, manipulative sales experiences of my life. I was pressured, cornered, and made to feel foolish and dramatic for having second thoughts. Rather than honoring the cancellation, they coerced me into believing I should keep the dress and "fix" it by essentially redesigning the entire gown--for an additional $2,000. This was presented as my only option. Any attempt to cancel was shut down with "there's nothing we can do," despite the dress being completely untouched. I repeatedly asked for help. I repeatedly said I did not want the dress. Over the course of three months, I followed up countless times (at least 15) trying to find a reasonable solution. The dress was not custom, not altered, and cost $1,800--in a store that regularly sells dresses for $10,000+. I offered multiple compromises: sell it in-store, keep a portion, refund only part of the cost, literally anything. I was never expecting a full refund. I was expecting basic problem-solving and empathy. Instead, I was met with rigidity, dismissiveness, and zero accountability. No solutions. No compassion. No effort. The final insult? I was told that if I didn't come pick up a dress I clearly stated I did not want, they would donate it. After taking my money, refusing every reasonable alternative, and ignoring months of communication, they threatened to give it away. That is not policy--that is punishment. Brides, be warned: once they have your money, you are no longer a person to them. You are a transaction. If anything goes wrong, you are on your own. This experience was stressful, humiliating, and completely avoidable if this business had even a shred of customer care. I would never recommend this store to anyone--especially not during what is supposed to be one of the most meaningful moments of your life.

The shop sales ladies were very friendly, and they knew their merchandise and what would look best. My daughter initially thought she wanted a dress with straps or sleeves with the cut straight across her chest and they had some lovely dresses like that but when presented with a slight "v" neckline and strapless, she fell in love with it. The sales lady was great at pinning and tucking in the fabric so she could get a better feel for the look of the dress as she is a size 6 and most dress samples are a size 12-20. The sales lady worked her magic, and my daughter ordered her dress. I was surprised that it takes about 8-9 months for the dress to arrive. Then 3 months for alterations. I am very glad that we shopped a year out from her wedding date.

Fortunately, my wedding venue (The Breakers) has wedding planning down to a science and their fabulous team made sure everyone in my party was zipped and tied to perfection. However, if I hadn't gotten married at The Breakers where I seriously had 1 woman who's entire job was to hold my the back of my dress until I was bustled (I kid you not) and a talented bow tying floirst (shout out to Richard from Breakers by Design) I'm starting to think the idea of a dresser isn't such an absurd idea. I was back in Palm Beach as maid-of-honor for my best friend's wedding last month and she hired Lisette as her dresser for the day. And Lisette really went above and beyond. Just a few of the many tasks Lisette and her fabulous assistant, Lou, performed that day: * They steamed all our dresses * Manged to get 8 bridesmaids into 8 dresses with VERY tricky zippers * Sticky taped our boobs so our dresses wouldn't fall down. * Helped the bride and mother-of-the-bride put on their dresses, shoes, jewelry, and even deodorant * Found a curling iron at the spa of the hotel and re-curled the bride's hair after we discovered the hairdresser had taken off as soon as we started pictures (not cool of the hairdresser by the way). I was so impressed with Lisette that I took a few cards and have passed them on to all the brides I know getting married in South Florida. I have no idea how much Lisette costs, but whatever it is...she's worth it!
