Good greek food reasonably priced, nice people who run it. I had the gyro salad and my wife had a steak pita servings were good.

Nupa is a great place to dine! We ate dinner here twice while visiting Rochester and both times the food and atmosphere were fantastic. The staff is friendly and the food cooked to perfection with the right amount of seasonings and tender meats. We had a nice lunch at Nupa. Since it was our first time, we decided to try a few different appys. Started with the saganaki, hummus with spicy feta, horiatiki salad and avgolemono soup. Each was different and tasty. Sagankai was served hot with pita. Hummus and spicy feta had a nice zip of flavor. Salad was chunks of cukes, tomatoes, onions, calamata olives and chunks of feta drizzled with olive oil. Avgolemono soup was chicken and rice with predominant lemon flavor. We enjoyed sampling the various items. Food came out quickly and service definitely friendly. read more

This is an update to my previous five-star review. I am still rating Nupa five stars, because it is consistently great. Service is efficient and friendly, and they almost NEVER mess anything up when I order, and I have ordered so many times. I have never had bad Nupa! The main reason for my updated review is to share my recent discovery: spicy gyros florettas (and the spicy chicken). This is something toward the end of their menu, with an unfamiliar name, so I never thought to try them before, but they are not to be overlooked! They have just the right amount of spice for spice wimps like me, and they are all wrapped up in a fried bread pocket. I'm sad I didn't try them sooner; don't make that mistake. read more

I had the lemon garlic chicken with french onion soup & a Greek salad for $15. The chicken was so moist & flavoroful! The soup was also superb! My husband ordered the chicken pita & loved it. The food was amazing with generous portions! I ordered the steak gyro. Usually places are stingy with meat but Nupa is definitely not one of those places. There was plenty of steak and it was very tender and juicy. It was slightly difficult to keep it whole in the pita bread because it was stuffed. I also got the pita with hummus and spicy feta. You get 2 pitas, each cut into 8 slices. Very good. I had to order their caramel brownie cheesecake because it looked very appetizing. The caramel and brownies complimented each other perfectly and was not overwhelmingly sweet. Cheesecake is on the lighter side, not too dense. Highly recommend getting the dessert. We all ordered the Gyros Platter with a side of Caprese Salad and Tabouleh Salad, Cream of Spinach Soup and their House Soup - Avgolemono Soup. Talk about authentic and tasty! I have truly missed eating GOOD Mediterranean food! Their food tasted so "FRESH", meaning not out of a freezer or can. I found out they make their soups in-house fresh daily and you can definitely taste it in the food. When we were finished eating, we were full and satisfied. They also had fresh cucumber water to drink and was it ever refreshing! If/when we are ever in Rochester, MN, we will definitely stop and eat here again! I've eaten here once before, and just had a small salad which was good enough to bring me back. I decided I wanted to back for my birthday, and yes...I did go on my birthday. I had a half lemon chicken meal, which came with 2 sides of your choice. Since I've been on a healthier kick, and it happened to be my birthday..I decided to splurge a little. My 2 sides were a Greek salad, and French fries. Every table had a container of Greek seasoning and it was really good! I sprinkled some on my fries and it kicked up a notch. I do have to mention, that we first started off with an appetizer, of which, if you go to any Greek place and they serve Saganaki..you HAVE to get it!! Lord have mercy when they brought it to the table!!....it was sooooo GOOD!!!!! Saganaki is Kasseri cheese, which they pour alcohol over the top and set it on fire. As it burns the alcohol off, it melts the cheese and crisps to perfect!!! You have a crispy outside crust, and a delicious molten center. On the side they serve pita wedges to put the cheese on...SO GOOD!!!! To continue with my meal, they had a sauce cup of ketchup and tzatziki sauce. I hate to sound cliche', oh well..."it was love at first bite".. The chicken was so moist and full of lemon flavor!! The fries were nice and hot, and the salad was so good!!! The inside was laid back and casual. Very open and plenty of lighting. If I could say anything at all, it wouldn't be negative so to speak, but just encouragement. The chicken leg quarter that I had should have more meat on it!!! The Greek salad would be ridiculously good if you had a wedge of feta cheese, instead of just a sprinkle of feta. Other than that, this place will be my go to for Greek unless some other Greek restaurant snatches my tastebuds!! One of my favorite eateries in Rochester! Fast, flavorful Mediterranean fare with reasonable prices. Their pitas are amazing, and their tzatziki sauce is addictive. Their fries are also delicious--I believe they're covered in a light dusting of Greek spices. Their chicken salad has also been one of my longtime favorites; it's super filling as it comes with an ample portion of chicken and pita on the side. Their lunch plates are an especially good deal, with huge portions and a variety of sides for under $10! My only qualm about Nupa is that they can sometimes be a bit heavy-handed with dressing and cheese on their salads. Otherwise, highly recommend stopping by! read more

Food is always good. Service is good. Love their mint pea soup on Sundays. Steak kabob's are good along with their Greek salad.

We had take-out from here a night or two ago with Mr. Piano's family. I thought I had ordered the veggie plate, but I may have accidentally ordered the veggie pita, so it may make some sense to double-check on your order--a lot of it can probably sound similar if you're not a particularly loud speaker. Mr. Piano gave me a falafel from his falafel pita, so I can indeed say that the falafel are pretty good, and I think I would have enjoyed the veggie plate more since the veggie pita has no falafels, but even as a plain veggie pita it was pretty good! I got the side of fries, and those were decent and probably would have been even better if we'd eaten in rather than gotten take-out. The interior appeared to be clean and was nicely decorated--I like the hand-painted pot next to the cashier that may have been made at the neighboring Color Me Mine :) Overall, seems like a nice dinner place and probably a great lunch place given the lunch specials. I LOVE this place! If you like Mediterranean food you won't find anything here you don't like. They're gyro plate is a great place to start and they're tzatziki sauce is authentic and homemade. If you like soup they also have really good mediterranean soup with generous lemon flavoring. Whether you order in or out it doesn't take too long to prepare your food and I've never had a bad customer service experience. Nupa is definitely a top five in Rochester. Location: The two cafes have different feels to them. The Barlow Nupa is older, has not been updated, and has very limited seating. It gives you the feeling of being in a diner. The Nupa on the south side is spacious, has lots of seating, and modern furniture and art on the walls. Two totally different dining experiences, depending on your preferences. I prefer the south location between the two. Menu: The menu has all the Greek and Greek tourist, as they say, classics. gyros, kebobs, baklava, and egg lemon soup. My personal favorite dish though, is the falafel salad. Six huge falafels on a bed of romaine, feta, red onion, banana peppers, and warm pita triangles. Amazing. Tip from a local: Dinner is great, but if you want a deal, go at lunch. A drink and full plate, which is the same size as dinner, is a combo price of 8.50- 9.00 bucks. The same thing runs a few extra dollars with no drink for dinner. I recommend the falafel salad, or the classic gyro meal with the greek salad. read more

Great place for a healthy lunch! They have several locations, but I like this one because it has an open concept, minimal yet tasteful decor and the staff is friendly. I really love their gyros. Tasteful, a lot of veggies with the meat and everything tastes fresh. I also love the fact that they have a small menu, so every dish is made by order so it always tastes fresh. Their tzatziki sauce is amazing, a lot of thyme, garlic and greek yogurt. I wish they would give us bigger portions of the sauce!!! Staff is great in both locations. Friendly, always smiling, come to check on you enough times for you to feel like they appreciate your business, but not so many times that you will feel suffocated. I highly recommend Nupá. YUMMMMM! I always leave feeling FULL and happy! I'm a big fan of their gyro pita lunch special - in fact that might be the only thing I've gotten here. It's just so good, I keep going back for more! As far as gyros go this place has one of the best I've ever had. My coworker friend really loves their chicken pita (or maybe they call it a chicken gyro?) with fries. Their cucumber water is really refreshing! Seriously, give it a try!! I'm always tempted to ask for a to go cup of it when I leave!! We typically avoid restaurants that don't have a wait staff. Especially at places that have an extensive menu. My wife likes to take her time reading the menu and always feels rushed ordering at the counter. Just our luck, when we visited Nupa, there weren't any customers until we stood at the counter and then two groups walked in for lunch. They were impatient and we picked our food quicker than we typically would prefer. Of course this isn't really Nupa's fault, but something we wanted to comment on. Anyway, the food is good. It reminded us of a Chipotle or Moes version of Greek food. We had their Gyros Pita, Falafel Pita, and Spanakopita. We were disappointed in their Spanakopita. We're accustomed to the appetizer being made with Phyllo dough and Nupa's version tasted more like a Calzone; not a bad dish, just not what we were expecting. Their Pita's were good (we always share our food, so we both tried each of them), but I wasn't a fan of the Falafel being cut up into chunks; this caused the portions to be inconsistent with some bites containing only filling or with just crust. Next time we'll try their fries because their rice was overpowered with citrus. Finally, we were disappointed that their salads didn't include olives. They even have huge pictures on the wall showing Greek salads with Black Olives, just none on the plates. Overall, Nupa is a good place if you're in a hurry and just looking for a quick Greek lunch.
