It's literally a storage shed type door with a hand-written sign taped to the front. We rang the door buzzer but nobody answered, so off we went to find a Greens & Proteins in hope of trying some low carb Manbake Beefcake cakes. I purchased a bag of the chocolate coconut and the carrot cake cakes for $10 total. I was giddy when I saw that the serving size was "1 bag" -- yeah boy, the ENTIRE BAG -- but once I opened the package, I saw why. These little cakes are tiny but there are only three in the bag! I think $5 per package is really overpriced; I would've felt less ripped off if they took just a buck off the price. So don't be alarmed when you open the package and think "where the heck are the rest of my cakes?" The carrot cake ones were far better than the chocolate coconut cakes. The chocolate cakes were very dry and sort of bland. The carrot cake was moist and each cake had a big, raw cashew nut on top. I found that one cake was plenty to satisfy me but I'm not sure if that's a result of all of the protein or just that the flavors were so "meh" that I just didn't want to eat more than one. The carrot cake was still moist 2 days later after opening the package. I would love to try all of the other flavors and I really like this concept and product. I think tweaking the recipes a teeny bit might help (like adding more cinnamon to the carrot cake) or something to beef up the flavor profile. I was sad that they tasted so bland.

When he told me the name was Manbake Beefcake, I had to start laughing because the first thing that came to mind was a WWE wrestler, then I started thinking maybe it's like Chef Jay's protien bars (which is also manufactured in Las Vegas)....well, I was completely wrong when DJ Mikeattack came back with two bags of these moist mini protein cakes. At first, I looked at the ingredients on the bag, I was very surprised because it was as whole food made as what you make from your own kitchen. The main base of the protein was Whey, and egg; then a nice mixture of Boarge, Evening Primrose, Flaxseed oil, and even the fat eating oil CLA was apart of the recipe. The Carrot cake tasted like a real carrot cake...minus the frosting. Also, the Chocolate peanut butter was off the hook! Even if you're a Diabetic, you can eat this, because there isn't any sugar in any of these cakes. One thing, I really enjoyed about this snack compared to a regular protein bar...it's fresh, and has a short shelve life. Protein bars get nasty before the expiration dates, and it's nice to get a real snack after a workout. I seen these at a few gym around the valley, and picked up a bag for $5.00. Who says you can workout, and can't eat your cake...because Beefcakes is the solution to this dilemma

Located inside the new-ish 99 Ranch Market (I say new-ish because they still have their "Grand Opening" sign despite being open almost half a year ago), Bread Farm occupies a cozy corner offering a pick-it-yourself section. Just grab a tray and some tongs and proceed to pick pastries merrily, which they'll individually wrap for you at check-out. The display cases are so well-organized and pastries extremely cheap, ranging from $1 to about $3. I've tried the fruit danish and the green onion bread. Decent, not too sweet or salty, respectively. Next on my list: their jalapeño hot dog bread. I know, verdict coming soon along with an antacid. They also have several cakes and cake slices for sale in a separate display case near the register. For these, you actually have to talk to the person behind the counter. It makes sense because they are so beautiful, you don't want others picking these up themselves. Recently, I bought one of the lovely taro cakes for my aunt's birthday. It's a little less sweet than Red Ribbon's ube cake, plus it had citrusy accents. So taste-wise, I'm still about Red Ribbon's purple potion, but aesthetically, Bread Farm's looks better with its glazed fruit toppers. A nice touch: If you buy a whole cake, they provide you with mini plates, mini forks, plastic cake slicer/leveler, and cute candles. Sweet!
