Since COVID-19 made it hard to socialize indoors safely, we decided to build out our backyard patio space, heat it up and then cover it so we could socialize with people in a safe outdoor setting. That's where Awnings by Design came in. I did research on awnings installation companies locally and even had competing bids done. Overall, Awnings by Design gave us the best bang for out buck. Don't get me wrong, this is an expensive project to undertake. If you have a deep enough budget then go for it. The project took a few months to complete and that's just cause of the supply chain issues that everyone's been facing. The installation team is fantastic. The lady who manages the office is awesome. Amazing local company to work with all the way from the initial email to the installation. I initially sent an email asking about awnings and got a very quick response. When I told them we're interested, Hugo came over, looked at our space, and explained all the different options we have including umbrellas, awnings, etc. He quickly gave us a quote as well, which was lower than some other options even though the solution he designed looked very promising. I also could not believe it when I got a call from them in just 1 month after we ordered, letting us know that they got the parts and are ready to install. We have a 2nd level deck on on the back (southeast facing side of the house) that simply is way to hot to enjoy in the summer months until after 6 PM. And, of course couldn't be used in the rain. Awnings by Design is one of the companies we looked at for a solution to improve our utility of our deck and gathering place. Excellent service getting a comparable quote (less than $100 difference from competitor). Delivery took a while but was due to covid shipping delays. Once the product arrived at the warehouse they were on site a week later. CJ and Hugo did the install and did a great job making sure to stay late to make sure the remotes were working. Last summer we had a large motorized awning installed on our patio. Sam did a great job during the first visit to explain the option. I learned more ideas from him than from the three other awning companies that I contacted. When the awning arrived, there were two small issues. First the hood was dented. Second there were some very small holes in the fabric. Sam's team (Hugo is great) installed the awning as it was but Sam ordered a replacement. The replacement came a few months later but we were able to enjoy the awning all summer. Because of all the delays and inconvenience, Sam "threw in" an additional solar screen, a $1000 value. It is inevitable that sometimes things go wrong, but you recognize a great company in their ability to fix the problems. Awnings by Design is definitely in that category.
