Price increases nearly doubled, used to be $45 now $70 for standard post. The service is good, but don't have to be this expensive.

Nancy helped us/stuck by us, in selling our home in a very long, complicated, short sell. She was very knowable, kind, caring, dedicated and when something new came up, she always knew just who to turn to too to guide us in the right directions. She built a team for us, to help us, reach our families goal of selling our home. My children have unique needs and had a very hard time with this big change; the flexibly a family needs to have when selling our home of 12 years, and moving to a new home was very overwhelming, she has a presence that made my kids comfortable and okay with what our future would hold. Nancy involved them and eased their way more than I could have asked from a Realtor. After working with her for over a year, we feel like we gain a new friend. We are grateful for Nancy and her team and would highly recommend her to my friends and family.

Ben Kaiser gets negative stars. I bought a condo from him in 2005 and have been dealing with the…read morefallout of his dishonesty and negligence ever since. He lied to us about pretty much everything, but since our first lawsuit against him was settled for a pittance, before we discovered numerous additional structural flaws in the building, we have no further recourse. The 25-year old water heaters that he claimed were new had to be replaced within a year, and now the entire plumbing system has numerous leaks and needs to be replaced as well. He also did not properly fund the reserve account, which is illegal, but because none of us had owned a condo before and many were first time buyers, by the time we figured it out it was too late. Also, there were more than the acceptable number of layers of roofing, which caused shingles to blow off last winter and necessitates a roof replacement in the next 2 years. Now, 6 years later, we have incredibly high HOA dues in order to fund the reserves we need to do all the required repairs and retro-fits. Needless to say, none of could sell now even if we wanted to. You would think that one of the numerous home inspectors or realtors might have drawn attention to any one of these problems, but I guess they are all incompetent, too. Live and learn....my advice is, before buying a condo read up on all the ramifications of group ownership. It's way more complicated than you think. And don't do business with this shyster in groovy clothing.

Everett Custom Homes - Stunning master suite with sitting area in SW Portland

We bought a newly-built Everett home in Portland in 2018. A large part of the reason we chose that…read morehome was Everett's reputation for quality construction. BOY WERE WE DISAPPOINTED. Our contract with Everett included air conditioning. When we moved in (during a heat wave) there was no A/C installed. Weeks later, they installed a small (1.5 ton) unit that was completely unable to keep up with the heat. On a hot summer day when it was 95 F outside, the best the tiny A/C could do for us was to lower it to 85 F -- even at night. Because the A/C was under-powered, it worked flat-out 24/7 and consumed HUGE amounts of electricity. Our summer A/C bill topped out at over $250 a month. We called Everett and their contractors multiple times. Everyone assured us that all was in order. They said we should expect astronomical cooling bills during hot months. Meanwhile, our neighbor, who lives in the other half of our Everett duplex, had no problems and MUCH lower energy bills. He also had a 2.5 ton A/C installed for his unit. After months of contacting both Everett and their A/C contractor, we gave up and bought a new unit. ALL of the multiple contractors we contacted said that the 1.5 ton unit was much too small and they recommended a unit between 2.5 and 3 tons. Once we chose one company to replace the seriously under-sized unit Everett had included, our energy bills dropped drastically -- roughly 75%. Later, we found that the cedar siding that the Everett representative had assured us was guaranteed for 5 years had completely failed after 4 years. Everett told us that we needed to re-finish the siding EVERY YEAR and that they therefore would not cover any problems. On top of all that, within months the bathroom was inundated with the smell of raw sewage. On the plus side, Everett sent out multiple plumbers to fix the problem. They even replaced most of the pipes under the sink. Once the 2-year warranty expired, however, they simply gave up. The awful stink was our problem from that point on. I eventually found that the problem was a partial blockage caused by construction materials in the pipes. There are too many other defects to mention, but overall we are very disappointed with Everett. Poor construction; poor warranty, and an unwillingness to admit to their own errors.

Everett Custom Homes destroys viable affordable housing, tossing it in the Dumpster (average age of…read morehome demolished is 87 years), then erecting low-quality oversize cookie-cutter homes in its place. Profits all belong to the developer; losses all belong to neighbors, including loss of affordable, unique housing; loss of neighborhood history; loss of mature urban tree canopy; loss of economic diversity among neighbors; loss of neighborhood character; loss of light for solar energy and home-based gardening and agriculture for adjacent neighbors; loss of privacy; and so on. This is a bad bargain for our city. If you're a buyer and you like suburban-style living, go there. If you like city living and neighborhood character, invest in it by buying a home that's held generations of lives and stories. If you're selling, sell to people who want to live and care for an older home, not toss it in the trash. Thank you.
