This company scammed me out of nearly 2k. I paid for 2 visits upfront, which I was happy to do as they were initially supportive, responsive, and helpful. Once payment was received, that changed. It was impossible to get a response on scheduling the second visit. The customer service representative answers every question with "100%," when in fact, there was 0% service, responsiveness, or resolution. I spent THREE MONTHS! calling, texting, emailing - when I threatened legal action I was told I would be reimbursed for the full amount of my payment - then promptly ghosted again. In the same email, they stated they would not contest if I chose to dispute through my bank. I was informed by my bank two months later that they had, in fact, denied my claim based on the merchants information. The amount of time and energy I have invested into this is so deeply unacceptable. This company should never be used, and should not be allowed to process payments or transactions of any kind. A gross mishandling of money, time, trust, and customer service. I would give 0 stars if Yelp allowed, truly horrific experience. read more

I can't tell how legitimate this company is . . . they have a website but it appears to be down. They have a phone number, but it goes to this generalized voice mail. They ask that you text with them . . . it's all a bit strange. That said, mostly due to panic and some very good reviews (that I now question the veracity of) I went with them. The experience was ok, but not great, and seemed very expensive for what it was ($350 for a service that took approximately 15 minutes). However, I am now left very frustrated as I have asked three times to be provided with the report of their findings, which is necessary in order for me to get my landlord to provide extermination, and despite being promised to get a report by noon today, they have sent nothing. They told me several times that "time is of the essence" and I need to get on this immediately so that I don't have a larger issue, so their then delay is very frustrating. It does feel a bit like they're only interested in talking to you when they think they can refer you to an exterminator, which I'm almost certain they make commission on. As an update, I just went on to the NESDCA website (that NYC Bed Bug Inspections claims to be certified by and shows the logo of among their photos) and NYC Bed Bug Inspections does not appear on the NESDCA list of certified bed bug detection teams so I am lowering my review to one star as this seems outright deceptive. Additional update, I did eventually get a response any my report after threatening to dispute the charge and report the company. So overall, I don't think they're a scam but I'm sure there are better run and certified companies out there so I'd go with those. read more

These guys are amazing. Recommended to me by a friend who previously had a bed bug problem, Jon was prompt in scheduling a K9 inspection the day I called him. He explained to me that since they don't offer extermination services, only inspection, they didn't have a conflict of interest in the inspection. This alleviated some anxiety for me and I felt I could trust them. The K9 inspector came out and the dog sniffed around and sure enough caught the scent. Both the dog handler and Jon offered me great advice and helpful links to help make the fumigation prep as efficient as possible. Would absolutely recommend them. It's worth noting that they do offer a discount for Yelp reviews, but on my honor, I would have given them the same 5 star rating and written my review exactly the same. read more

David was extremely professional and informative. I had gotten bed bug bites while traveling and was worried I might've brought them back with me. I called at 9pm on a Saturday night and they were able to send David and the K9 dog within an hour. It was really cool to see the dog at work. She would sniff around and if she detected something, she would look up at her owner as a signal. This did not mean that I had bed bugs, but rather she detected some kind of bed bug activity (eggs, fecal matter, etc.). David gave me really solid advice to buy some Bedlam spray to kill any eggs if I did happen to bring them back. He was also more than happy to bring the dog to sniff around the rest of the apartment as an extra precautionary measure even though he knew the incident was isolated to my bedroom. I peppered him with questions and he was able to answer every one of them and give me peace of mind that I did not have bed bugs. Even if I had brought eggs home, I was so proactive about this that I could kill off everything before it spread. Disclaimer: The price for an inspection was $300, but you get $50 off if you write a Yelp review. Although there was monetary incentive to write this review, my feelings are honest and I would definitely call again if I ever find myself in a similar situation (but let's hope I don't!). read more

I used this service November 1 as I suspected my apartment had bed bugs. The dog and his trainer were thorough and helpful, ultimately did not find anything. While the dog and his companion were great, the customer service here is abysmal. This company promises a detailed follow-up report prior to booking their services. It has now been a month and I have not received, despite having followed up six times. Moreover, I was charged a $300 fee plus tax (equivalent to a three bedroom search), but only one bedroom was inspected. Do not use this service if you are on a budget, and do not use if you plan to submit to your landlord for reimbursement. read more

They are certified and by my research the cheapest option in town. Had to schedule a bed bug inspection last minute and they were able to send someone the next day. Joseph came with Luna, a black lab who is trained to not be distracted by cat smells since my roommate and I have a cat. Even though I was told I would get a call notifying me Joseph was 30 minutes away, I didn't get a call until he was parking outside my apartment. Regardless, Joseph was very nice and Luna was calm the entire inspection. Luckily, no bed bugs were found and Joseph assured me that if I find a bug within 30 days of his inspection, I could text a picture of it to them and if necessary, they'd come inspect again, no charge. Overall, they made a stressful situation a bit easier to deal with. Also, if you leave a review on Yelp, they give $25 off (although they do charge tax which brings the price back up). read more

James, David and Jack the Dog did a great job at putting us at ease throughout the entire inspection by explaining the whole process of the inspection and giving us background information on the dogs training. *Dishonest or incompetent.* Found a dead bug in the guest bathroom of the apartment we had just moved into...these guys came in and told us it was definitely a bed bug that had recently been alive (+ charged $250 on the spot), leaving us in a near-panic. We recently discovered our cat in our living room playing with a dead bed bug, and wanted to be confident that we didn't need to set the entire apartment on fire. We called NYC Bed Bug Inspectors, and they showed up that afternoon. Joe showed up with his little beagle, and very thoroughly inspected our apartment visually and had the dog sniff through the apartment several times. The dog was a little distracted by the smell of our cats, but overall both the dog and visual inspection didn't find anything. He gave us advice and then let us know that if we get any bites to call them back up for another inspection with a less cat-crazy dog. (That's the only reason I cut off a star; I wish I had been reminded on the phone that the bedbug dog might be very distracted by my cats, even when locked in a bathroom for an 45 min to an hour prior to arrival) I really liked how honorable the company was, especially given some of the negative articles about bedbug detection dogs giving false positives in recent years. Okay. SCOTT IS AMAZING!!!!!!!! I have NEVER experienced this level of customer service from ANY business over the last 6 years living in NYC. Inspectors found bed bugs at my office & I called him telling him the whole situation & that I wanted him to come as a precaution. He spent OVER a half hour on the phone with me telling me what I could/should do now and what I can expect to see if we actually do have bed bugs. To take that kind of time with someone who hadn't even set up an appointment yet was BEYOND anything I could've ever hoped for. NYC Bed Bug Inspections was amazingly patient and attentive over the phone. Scott agreed to do our extermination but suggested a free in person visit before-hand, just to see how we were getting on with the prep. When he arrived, he pretty quickly determined we had none of the signs of bed bugs and explained why, due to bed bug behavior and lifespan, etc, it was highly unlikely we had them. if we did, he said there would have to be so few that an exterminator would be completely unnecessary. He looked at my leg where i had been bitten and said that many insects make the same bite marks. He told us some things we could do ourselves (spraying dark corners and crevices with alcohol) that would eliminate any risk if we were very worried. I almost wish we had got to meet his cute dogs who would have sniffed bed bugs, but he kindly did not want to waste our money on any unnecessary services. He is a real professional and could tell himself. There are many scam artists looking to make money off of the hysteria and social stigma the bed bug epidemic has caused in new york.
