If it was possible to give a less than one star review for this business I would. As silly as it sounds we wanted to celebrate the day we got our maltese with our closest friends. I saw the cakes on NYC Birthday Cakes website and ordered a cake with a custom maltese topper for our event. If you look at the attached photo On the left is the example of the cake topper we wanted. On the right is the cake we received. This is what we received for a near $400 cake. Outrageous. If I knew they were not capable of doing the job I would not have hired them to do so. Hopefully we can hire a real custom cake maker next time.

Ordered a cake for my partners surprise 30th Game of Thrones themed birthday party. The end result was better than I could have imagined. The ordering process was simple and the communication was spot on. The cake was absolutely delicious- white cake with raspberry filling! Thank you so much to the Cake Designer Joseph.

Cool cake tasted just as good as it looked.

Well this was a very aesthetically appealing and delicious cake for me to give up 5 stars. I had a custom cake made for my daughters 15th B DAY she loves make up so hint hint. I ordered a standing makeup bottle cake from them with a tasty caramel mousse filling to go with the vanilla cake. I really like how the details were put in exactly how i asked their manager Mike pays a lot of attention to details and it reflects in the product. Mike was professional enough to go over the cake with me before it was started, he gave me a call once he received a picture of what I needed.Overall this was great from start to finish on everything and even if you order for a certain number of people on the cake i noticed mine had 5 extra slices available. I recommend this service for special cakes considered the quality and attention I received.

This review is for a two tier cake order I placed in July. I placed the order about 2.5 weeks prior to my event. It started out well. Had a couple of conversations w/ the cake maker to explain what I wanted (it was simple--I wanted an all black fondant cake w/ nothing else on it.) I was told I could pick it up the day of the event. On the day of the event I went to pick up the cake and it was damaged--the box the cake was in had created a dent on the top of the cake. I panicked when I saw it at the store. They then had me wait until they called the maker and wait for him to drive there and fix the cake. This took about 40 mins (not too bad I guess), however I was then running late and had to deal with traffic on my way to the event --I was in a panic. I understand that these things happen but what I am pissed about is how the cake looked after all of this. It was poorly made--I could lit see streaks on the fondant (see the photos) and debris on the top of the cake. I wanted to cry. The fondant was wet. Like shiny and just wet looking. Now that only means that the cake maker does not know how to make or work w fondant bc that is a tell tale sign--wet, shiny fondant--even after refrigerating (please see photos). It did not look like fondant. Now the other thing is that there was cardboard debris on top of the cake where they had to fix from the box denting. Once again, please see photos. The cake was supposed to be the center piece of my party and it was just a disaster. I was so embarrassed that I spent so much money on my party and the cake to have it look so amateur. THE WORST PART was the customer service. OMG the cake maker/owner was BEYONDDDD nasty when I told him that there is debris embedded on the fondant and the fact that the fondant is wet andddd the fact that they let a box cave in on the cake and I had to wait of him to do a bang up job of fixing it. He got on bad with me and lit yelled "leave me alone" like a 2 year child. He took no responsibility. This was the scary part that someone can ruin a cake that is impt to your party and just not give a damn and tell you to leave and hang up the phone on you. I was bewildered that I had to deal with this level of nastiness in customer service! I would urge anyone who wants a professional looking cake and who wants to deal with reputable, professionals to AVOID this place.

A 60th Birthday day celebration...photo of when she was 20 years old...horrible horrible tasting cake!!

I ordered my mom's 60th Birthday cake from here because their pictures from the website was Amazing and they got good reviews...Well I gave 2 stars because the only thing good about the cake I ordered was the picture the decor around the cake was Horrible....they put the happy birthday lettering in pink as if it was a baby shower...I asked for chocolate decor..the taste of the cake was Horrendous!!! I paid $225 for the most disgusting tasting cake EVER!!! What a waste of money!!! Don't buy a cake from here...save your money and order a BJ's cake instead!!

Cowboy cake (left was my inspiration, right is NYC Birthday Cake's execution). I think NYC Birthday Cakes is much better.

LOVED the cake NYC Birthday Cakes did for my son's party, I got nothing but compliments from our guests. It was much more $ than I anticipated but I really wanted a 2 tier cake and all the fondant bakeries I checked with we're in line with each other. I ordered the cake 1.5 weeks prior to my son's birthday, Joseph was very helpful in thinking through the details. Our bottom layer was red velvet with cream cheese while our top was vanilla with fudge. Both very moist. I recommend the red velvet and cream cheese over vanilla, way more tasty (in all fairness I was recommended the vanilla for the kids). See inspo and actual cake below!

I ordered a custom cake that came out very very well. It was yummy. I heard from everyone that it was so moist and delicious. The photo was beautiful. They could have wrote with a color that had better contrast because it was light... But that was something i could have told them. I told him choose whatever color he thought. I gave them five starts because it deserves it. I see some reviews about bad taste... But mine was amazing!

The restaurant/bakery is big with lot of seating. Great display of cakes, pastries and breads. Street parking is available. Service: the nicest people. It comes in cubes so definitely easier to share. CRUNCHY: this is the very must!! It's chocolate mouse inside with layers of other chocolates. Plus with nuts on it. It's like a ferrero but bigger! Price rating: 7/10. It was not expensive a good cake. I always buy cake here for special occasions or even if I am craving cakes. Visit this, its worth it!

Known for its aesthetic desserts and pastries, I praise the spot for standout items like "The Crunchy" cake, fruit tarts, and vegan croissant, and the service is good. The bakery features an inviting, rustic-modern design with marble tables and large windows. A great place to sit, chat, or relax with a dessert. My wife and I rave about the fresh, high-quality ingredients used in their pastries. Standouts include their pistachio mille-feuille, fresh fruit tarts, and savory turkey-swiss croissants. They also offer an expanding menu of vegan pastries. Most of the patrons like me enjoy the fast, accommodating service, especially from the dedicated baristas. The coffee and espresso drinks earn good marks for me, with favorites like the caramel macchiato and Nutella hot chocolate. A really good place to enjoy sweets and relax.

There's usually a line of some length during peak hours and especially around the holidays. You can tell by the sheer volume of baked goods and cakes available in their window displays that they sell a lot daily. This location is on the main drag of the little downtown section of Forest Hills, the baked goods in the front window display connect to a tall and long glass counter along the left side of the store that extends almost to the back. At the back middle and along the right side of the wall there's seating for about two dozen people at small cafe tables. They carry an assortment of traditional cakes (full and sliced), pies, cookies, pastries, cheesecakes, cupcakes, ice cream and coffee/tea drinks. A wide variety of flavors in each, so you're bound to find something sweet to satisfy most here. They are a classic bakery so from what I can tell, they don't carry items that are gluten, dairy or nut free. I've purchased their apple pie, fruit tart, berry napoleon, red velvet and chocolate fudge cakes from this or other locations in the past and they're all solid choices for desserts to share with a larger group, though I find a lot of their cake options to be on the richer side. My most recent encounter with their cakes came in the form of a slice of their seven layer cake $9.95 which is thin layers of yellow cake alternating with chocolate cream mmm pretty tasty, and their caramel cake $9.95 which had a layer of chocolate cake in the middle, sandwiched by caramel cream and white cake on either side. The latter had a pronounced caramel flavor that was enjoyable though a bit too much cream for me. My preference would be for their chocolate cakes over other cake flavors here. Their apple pie is one of my favorite apple pies anywhere tho!

However, the staff were also super warm and accommodating, and the quality of the items we got (gluten free vanilla and chocolate cupcakes) was great. The actual cake bases of both types were moist and flavorful. I could've gone with a little less frosting and more cake, but it made for a very aesthetically pleasing topping with the vibrant colors, sprinkles, and glitter. I kept getting strong hints of rose flavor from the pink frosting on the chocolate cupcakes so I'm not sure if they infused it with that. Overall, a great little spot, and really a savior for procrastinators looking for sweet goodies to take to a gathering when other last-minute ideas fall through!

Over the years, as many of those bakers retired, the number of quality bakeries slowly dwindled. One by one, many of the old favorites disappeared. These little sweet treats are unbelievably addictive. I've brought them to gatherings and shared them with friends and family, and without fail they disappear almost instantly.
