Popped in the other night for a bite to eat. I had a long day at Water Country and didn't feel like making myself dinner. Upon entering I was greeted by two female employees. All my questions were answered and ordering was a breeze. I opted for the salad bar, and a baked potato with butt, sour cream and cheese. I've always loved a Jason's Deli salad bar. There are many options to choose from. The potato was piping hot. All of the staff were working hard whether that was taking orders, making orders, cleaning up tables or stocking the salad bar. We ordered in through GrubHub and it was picked up and delivered promptly. I ordered the Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup Combo and Potato Salad.My Boyfriend ordered The Yankee, full size . The amount of meat on his sandwich was incredible. Made for two meals. He loved it. The Potato Salad was pretty basic. I prefer the Amish over American Potato Salad. The Grilled Cheese was nothing special but the bread was toasted perfectly. I had the sourdough bread. The Tomato Soup was amazing. They give you a large bowl of it. I was a little bit, disappointed to see that the Jasons deli that I normally go to in Newport News is now closed. So on a hot Saturday, my family and I really wanted to enjoy the salad bar so that's where we went. The salad bar didn't disappoint. Everything was in stock as always. It was a little different with the picking up and returning of plates. Normally there was one spot to drop off dirty plates and one spot to pick up clean plates. But it seemed as though you had to go up and get a new plate each time which was a little inconvenient. I ordered a loaded potato there for the first time which was really good. I wasn't too fond of how hard the potato skin at the bottom was. It made it really difficult to eat. But the flavor was good and it was extremely filling. The establishment was nice and clean, but it was a little hard getting someone's attention to keep getting new plates, which I wasn't fond of too much. CUSTOMER SERVICE was pretty good. Overall, when I go back yes because I love their salad bar lol I kinda wanna try more potatoes because they had different ones on the menu. read more

Jason's Deli is such a cute little gem. The food is simple, but fresh and lots of choices. They have a salad bar and soft serve icecream. But the best part is the service. The employees are always so nice. And tonight, Shytia helped me and was so informative about the rewards program. Sounds lame, lol, but I'm telling you, she was giving me all kinds of tips. She definitely deserves a raise and should be training people. Go check this place out and tip them if you can :). I wish I could do more :( read more

Ordered 3 items for dine in and they served 2 incorrect dishes. When I told the server the items were wrong he walked away and brought back on of the items telling me it was my order. I took my receipt back up front to the cashier and had to get them to the explain to the kitchen staff what the correct order was. I had the Reuben w/ pastrami and cheese and broccoli soup...it was excellent. The soup was not too thick and had nice chucks of broccoli in it. Tons of meat on the sandwich, too much sauerkraut in my opinion but still good! My friend had the salad bar with tons of opinions. Coke product, free ice cream. If you have a large group this works. The food was pretty good but I had a decent wait to get my to go lunch. The lady working at the register was very nice. The area after ordering makes new people coming in think there's a long line. There's no assembly line feel and one constantly has to tell others you have been helped. read more

If you are going to Jason's deli on a Sunday make sure you are ready for a wait. Originally my family asked me to stop by Chicken salad Chick but we didn't know they were closed on Sundays. My parents really wanted Chicken salad & Jason's deli is a 3 minute drive so I placed the order online and I was quite excited as their potato soup is really good. The order said it'd be ready by 1:18p and of course I knew this time could vary. The inside was very busy with guest. I took a seat at the to go order area and as time passed and people went out I was wandering what was going on. At 1:45p, 30 minutes after arriving I'm assuming she was the manager asked me if I was waiting for an order. I let her know I was and she said it was almost ready. I checked the bag to make sure at least 3 sandwiches were in the bag and 2 sides. It's my fault I guess for not looking closer. I drove home and was very disappointed to pull out broccoli cheddar soup versus potato soup. I'm not sure if they got confused seeing the broccoli salad and I definitely want to give the food service grace but it's unfortunate to pay all that money to not even get what you ordered. Super disappointed in my Jason's takeout order. I used to go to Jason's pretty often and always had great service and the food was worth the price. The last time ordered for a catered event and they completely forgot my sandwich and had replaced it with something totally different. Today I ordered a takeout chicken salad sandwich with no tomato. The lady up front doesn't want you to see your receipt because she's adding tips to your card without you knowing. Yesterday I asked to see my receipt and she said it would be on my bag. I don't normally write reviews but I feel based on my extensive experience in the restaurant business I felt compelled to write one . This Jason's deli location is by far one of the worst places I've been in a very long time . The food was thrown together and not good the service was terrible and it's just a sad place to dine . My advice is to get ppl that want to work and will dress the part , there's no reason my server should have a du - rag on . The soda and tea station is questionable the cleanliness and care is absent here in this establishment. I came in on Sunday 3/10 after my shift as a manager in a restaurant and was just appalled that this place runs like it does . There's so much more that can be said but I believe my point is made . From the moment we entered, we were met by courteous cashiers ready to answer our questions. We had the salad bar, baked potato with brisket and a sliced beef sandwich. The salad bar was full of fresh crisp veggies, toppings and assorted salads. The potato was tge largest I have ever seen. It was baked perfectly and had brisket in barbecue sauce topped with cheese. The menu has a great selection and covers vegetarian friendly options as well as meats and fish etc. The salad bar is usually really well stocked, and there is a decent variety to choose from - so much more than just some leaves. The potato salad and pasta salad are delicious to mix in, same with the slaw! While our experience when ordering was very pleasant, the wait was a bit long for a bowl of soup. Maybe I went there on a bad day this review is for the service not the food. The food was great and I would order online again however I will do it 1hr in advance as it takes a long time to receive your food. I was standing in the lobby of the establishment for more than 45 minutes before anyone who worked there even acknowledged me. There were several other angry customers there as well which were not happy either. 15 minutes into my visit I realized it would be faster to create an account online and order my food as I didn't think I would ever make it to the register. My food was estimated to be done at 722pm at 0800 I asked the lady working there if three even started my meal and she said no. At this point I got back into my vehicle went home for 15 minutes and then went back. Even though I expected no apology for the wait there wasn't one given no free food voucher or nothing. I tried calling a few times and I got no answer. This review is solely for their delivery service. My co-workers and I have ordered from Jason's since it's one of the few places that actually delivers in our area. The first time, it didn't take long for the order to be there, and the food was fantastic. I personally got a new menu item (Chicken Mesa Salad) and it's probably one of the tastiest salads I've had. I'm not a fan of spicy foods, but their jalapeno ranch dressing is delicious and the spiciness was balanced out by certain sweet ingredients in the salad. Seriously. Try it out. You won't be disappointed. My co-workers tried out other salads, and sandwiches and everyone was pleased and we all had the itis since the portions are also very big. The second time we ordered, it took them nearly two hours for the food to be delivered. We also got tacked on a $7 delivery fee, which is absurd. The first time we ordered, my boss had paid for the meal, but if I had known it would cost that would, I would have just picked it up myself.
