We have been using NYC Pooch as our dog walking service for the past three years. We can not recommend them enough. They are very easy to deal with and have a lot of flexibility. Our dog Thor gets walked by Alesya, who we absolutely LOVE - she genuinely cares for Thor and his well being (which give us such piece of mind whilst we are at work). We receive the most hilarious photos from their walk each day along with a detailed updated - which really brightens your inbox. Thor has great new doggy friends, who he regularly bumps into around the local park. We have always felt safe & secure with NYC Pooch entering our home each day and haven't experienced any issues ever with them. They are a really lovely team, and are such a pleasure to work with.

We've been using NYC pooch for 6+ years, starting with their puppy visits, then moving to regular daily walks. They've continued to be reliable, professional, and flexible with our crazy schedule and all of our needs. We trust that they find the best walkers who are responsibly trained and truly love dogs. We also love that the walks are personal and not in large groups. We wouldn't trust anyone else with our Maggie! Their emailed pup reports give a rundown of every daily walk, and make our day knowing that Mags is in good hands. We'll be using NYC Pooch for life :)

Denver is incredible with both the puppers and their humans. Kiki also had two private training sessions with Sam (who's fantastic), attends AGDT's puppy day school, and puppy socials - plus, one of their dog handlers watched over night Kiki while we were out of town on a five-day trip. All of our experiences have been positive. Kiki is always excited when we enter the building, loves everyone she encounters (other dogs and all the trainers), and comes home exhausted from the playtime and mental stimulation. While it's all very expensive, we view it as an incredible upfront investment in the health and well-being of our pupper.

Gwen provided thoughtful and useful hands-on instructions that give puppies a great base of good manners and obedience. Gwen also sets owners up for success on continuing training at home. I plan on enrolling Parker in either adolescent training or agility classes in the fall.

Several minutes later the groomer came out and said they couldn't get the stain off of him. She informed me they were doing construction in the back and he was laying on the floor under it. The conversation got worse and worse from there. She told me "it was likely something from the air conditioner and she didn't know what it was but it definitely wasn't dangerous." She then casually said if they couldn't get it off I wouldn't have to pay for the grooming.... as if he was a sweater that got stained at the dry cleaner. They ended up giving him two more baths and getting most of it off with Dawn dish soap... which is what they use to take oil spills off of sea creatures. My dog was unsupervised, laying in construction chemicals and came out from his grooming stained. After all of that, they still charged me and barely apologized. But the absolute highlight is that Simon can't even walk by the place without begging to go inside! When I drop him off, he literally runs to each staff member, tail wagging, full of excitement and joy. It's such a relief knowing he's in excellent hands, having the best time, while I'm at work. His social skills with other dogs have grown tremendously, and I credit that to his time at D is for Doggy. We also get Simon groomed here by Prae, and she's just incredible! She's also great about adapting his cuts for different seasons to keep him comfortable year-round. When we first booked with Anna, we had to wait a couple of weeks since she was fully booked. Frankly, my first thought was, "Is it going to worth the money?." Answer is it was the best money I ever spent. The main thing to know is that at Instinct it is not a one-off appointment. They provide you with training and support well past your initial session (for no extra charge). I've had dogs all my life but when Ginger started to refuse to be leashed up to go out and did not fit the profile of a dog afraid of the outdoors, I knew there was something else going on. I was traveling with him, and our departure the next day depended entirely on making suitable arrangements for the dog. We needed care for 10 days, and with so little time to research options, we went with a recommendation from my trusted vet: Instinct Dog Behavior & Training. We reached out to person who identified herself as one of the co-owners, who offered to personally care for the puppy. Because he was too young to stay at the main facility, the plan was for her to keep him at her personal residence. We dropped him off at the East Harlem business location and headed home. My friend is very attached to his dog, and he even got an Uber back the same day just to bring the puppy's blanket. He left feeling reassured that the dog was in good hands. That night, my friend was already missing his puppy and asked for an update before bed, and she sent over some photos, which he shared in our group chat. At first glance they looked great. Almost too great. Anyone who has spent five minutes with an 8-week-old Aussie knows they never stand still, so my first thought was that she must be a remarkable trainer to get a puppy posed so perfectly. But looking closer, I noticed irregularities in the images, and they appeared to be AI generated. These were later confirmed to be AI generated. I want to be fair here. I don't believe there was any bad intent, and the puppy was returned to us in perfectly good condition. But sending what seemed to be AI-generated photos instead of a quick real snapshot was a lapse in judgment that undermined our trust at the worst possible moment. When you've handed over a very young puppy on short notice, an honest update matters more than a polished one. Given the circumstances, we felt more comfortable collecting the dog, and a refund was promptly issued, which we appreciated. With departure set for the following morning, there was no time to find replacement boarding, and the trip had to be cancelled entirely. Between the non-refundable bookings and rearranged plans, it turned into an expensive problem. Others clearly have good experiences here, and the co-owner was pleasant throughout. This just wasn't the right fit for us, and I'd encourage them to stick with real photos for owner updates, even imperfect ones. Honest beats perfect every time.

Initially, I had contacted Jay to help me with "hand stripping", a particular technique for grooming wire coated dogs. He explained that the very first step in grooming, for any dog, is to train for obedience-- such as tolerating standing still, lying down, sitting-- and wow, did that make sense! Jay was fatherly, kind, patient, and had a clear syllabus of graded challenges and behaviors with which to follow over the course of the weeks of sessions that we had with him. He took the time to understand what my goals were for both home life and the dream of having my dog work alongside me either as an animal assisted therapy dog (I was an occupational therapist) or as a showbiz dog (my other career). Jay helped me develop these goals and dream both big and small. And thus, our sessions extended way beyond grooming-- to loose-leash walking, developing Arrow's attention and focus, targeting (we went from my puppy simply touching a target with his nose or paw, to opening handicap/ accessible doors when he was tall and strong enough!), and much more-- all when he was just months old! By the time he was 13 months old, Arrow had acquired his first professional gig-- as "Sandy" at the 92nd St Y's production of "Annie". It has now been 8 years of non-stop love and success with my dream dog. He has been on the set of Law and Order, New Amsterdam, She's Gotta Have it Too, among others. He even has had multiple theater critics mention his perfect behavior in reviews! This month, my Arrow performed in his 7th professional production of Annie. During one performance, there was a technical error that stopped the show for 20 minutes. Arrow and I were given permission to come on the stage and entertain the audience with tricks and stories of his "pawsome" career, as well as participate in a Q&A with the captivated audience. Many questions centered around "how did you get Arrow to do THAT!?" And I found myself responding by explaining, "Jay Andors helped us with that!" Jay's mentorship and ongoing support has provided a life-long foundation of success for Arrow and our family, and we can't thank him enough!

What I appreciated most is that she was always realistic with us and our training sessions/goals never felt idealistic or unattainable. Rather, we truly focused on little steps and management which also completely shifted our own perspective on how we should be engaging with our dog going forward.
