Stopped in on a whim and was glad we did. The gentleman behind the counter made us feel at home. My daughter and I ordered two slices of pepperoni. Quick read: What was once a pretty solid lunch place is gradually falling into disrepair and inattention. I've been here a number of times over the years, and I've always enjoyed the local-deli type environment, the friendly staff, and the enormous selection. For a pizza/pasta/sandwich place, their menu selection is quite impressive. But here's the problem -- I've watched the place slowly decline. I'm not sure if management has changed, or perhaps simply fallen into a rut, but each time I go, I wonder if it will be the last. This doesn't capture everything I noticed, but here are some details from my most recent visit: * Several overhead lightbulbs were out, so the dining room seemed dark * Projector TV doesn't work * Multiple drink stations were out of syrup or marked as broken with handwritten signs. * Drinks case was nearly empty * The deli counter area lights were out, leaving the deli meat looking dark and unappealing * There used to be an employee dedicated to going through the line to get orders going in advance, now everybody has to wait for a single station * They weren't busy, but one of our meals-- the daily special -- was never started, forgotten by the kitchen. No offer for discount / dessert/ etc. * The girl at the counter seemed to be the only person in a hurry to do anything. Other employees seemed very relaxed and unengaged. * I've never liked their system of walking around the dining room shouting out a name for each order that is ready. My group typically ends up sitting around watching food getting cold, waiting for the last person's meal to arrive, up to 10-15 minutes later. Until they start putting a little bit of effort into managing this place, I may start taking my lunch dollars elsewhere. read more

This place has GREAT sandwhiches. They cut the Boars Head meat in front of you and they have very fresh ingrediants. I think it's a bit pricey for a sandwhich but the quality is up there. read more

The sandwiches were mediocre at best. I could probably make sammies at home for cheaper and better. Plus, the soda fountain was jacked. I had a turkey and provolone with vinegar and oil which seemed like an imposition for them to make. They also only offer one type of potato chips. Weird. I'm always looking for a place to get a good deli sandwich, and this is one of the better places in the area. They have a limited menu, so if you are looking for Subway, keep driving. But what they do, they do very well. The Boars Head meats banner is what caught my eye in the first place. The food is fresh. The staff has always been friendly. This was quite a find. When I had a little extra time on my way to DFW, I decided to try it out for lunch. The Don Davis (pastrami, swiss, coleslaw; spicy thousand island) was very tasty. The staff was friendly and my food was ready quickly. I was also very impressed by all of the local school groups they sponsored- band, football, and others. Best NY neighborhood style deli I have had in Texas. There are two types of NY delis. The kosher style delis with great pastrami, knishes, etc. And the neighborhood style delis with boards head meats, great crusty sub rolls, and fresh made salads (Potato, Macaroni, Cole Slaw, etc.). NYPD is like the latter and does a fantastic job of it. The owner is from Long Island, NY and this place is just like the delis there. You can't go wrong with any of their subs or homemade side salads. The Soprano, Big Apple, Italian Beef, and macaroni salad are some of my favorites. You can make any sandwich/sub you want too. They have a great selection of quality meats, breads, and toppings. read more

It's hard to find a place that makes grilled chicken subs so when I saw they had this, I had to try. And boy am I glad I did!! Delicious :-) Got it without the cheese and no pickles and it was still hot when I got home. They wrap the subs in tin foil and then deli paper, which reminded me of the mom-and-pop pizza shops from home in Pennsylvania. Don't judge this place by the outside - an older building, nothing fancy. The interior is older. But the sub was great and the guy behind the counter was very friendly. Can't wait to go back and try so more, especially the pizza - real New York-style, thin, floppy slices :-) Shame I never tried this place sooner. They have all kinds of sandwiches and subs from authentic New York-style to Italian to your basic ham and cheese. Thanks NYPD - I'll be back for sure!! read more

Authentic NY pizza you can taste the difference in the sauce, cheese, and dough! Everything is fresh and homemade.

Food here is garbage. To top that off when you order the guy scribbles your name on a thin strip of paper and sends it to the area where food is prepared. Next you take a seat and a big manly looking lady comes out HOLLERING names incorrectly ( after being reassured by the guy that the name she is calling is correct) so you get to look at her and say no that's not me even though it may be your food. Well please don't correct her because since the guy was sure he told her the name correctly she likes to give the customer a dirty look for his mistake. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE WHAT SO EVER. $10 wasted on one sandwich and a drink. To add to this I have eaten in Euless four days out of this week and the BEST place I choose this week was Taco Casa. Honestly not bad ... but not the best place I've had in the area. I think I've been here about 3 times ... twice on my way home from UTA. Those two times usually during the end of lunch rush. Those times the pizza was fresh, salad the one time I got it was good with the house dressing.Though the pizza was usually on more of the crispy side of my liking. I have not tried the sandwiches but we use boars head brand sandwich meat at home, which is what they advertise that they use so I give them props for using a great brand. The last time we went was when we decided to use a now groupon from them. The pizza was obviously from earlier in the day ... and they couldn't even re-heat mine well enough for the toppings to stay on the pizza. (Even with eating it classic NY fold style.) They are out of the way for us and we were not impressed enough this last go around to go the out of the way to try them again unless we happen to be in the area ... we'd rather support local than one of the fast food joints near there ... read more

The sandwiches are a 4 but the atmosphere is a 2, so we'll settle at a 3. The restaurant is very dark inside. My husband used to frequent this place back in the day, always ordering the grilled chicken swiss sub. The first time I went I had the philly cheesesteak and it was unbelievably bland. I had to add salt to it, and *then* it tasted good. We went today and I had the Soprano sub (italian meats, vinegar, creamy dressing) and it was delicious! Very good. However, I went to the restroom, and there were dirty diapers and an empty tampon applicator on the floor........kind of puts a damper on things, huh.. read more

I go here whenever I want a great sandwich. Bread/subs, meats, cheeses and toppings are all fresh. They have a large variety of Boar's Head deli meats to choose from, including delicious Italian meats (capicola, prosciutto). Even better, they make their potato and pasta salads in house. I have never tried their pizza, but I do order a stromboli occasionally, and those are very good, also. read more

Very good pizza. They are truly the best in town. Their pizza is thin and crispy. All ingredients are fresh. They grate their own cheese. You don't even have to wait a long time either. We have been looking for a good pizza place for a long time and are happy to have finally found one! Service is great, the cook comes out and socializes with the guests. read more

I think its owned by the same people who own big apple. Pizza is average at best. If you want a good NY slice you have to go to Joes on north main. When they are closed on monday, go to Lushajs. Skip NYPD, its not great. Yellow cheese has no place on a pizza. read more

I like this place a lot. The best sandwich I like is the "Saprano". It is by far the best they have. Now the meet ball sub is really good too. It's not a fancy place but it's ok. The owner is really a nice guy and seems to care for his customers. read more

NYPD Deli's pizza is amazing. It is definitely worth getting pants on and driving to the deli to get it. Big pieces with big flavor instead of the cardboard you get from chain pizzerias. New York pizza here means store bought crusts and sauce out of can. Pizza was poor. My pastrami sandwich tasted good but was smaller than my fist. I would say it was about 1/2 the size I have come to expect from other places with similar prices. I won't go back. read more

Terrible! I can deal with rude employees if the food is decent but both sucked here. Pizza was cold, the "hot dog special?". I am not sure what made it special other than being the worst hot dogs I have ever eaten. Oscar Meyer is above the quality of the crap they serve here. As a good gesture before I tried the food I left a tip even though I disagree with places that ask for tips when they do nothing? Am I tipping for the pleasure of standing there to order my food and then waiting o get it? A simple thanks would have been nice from Mr.Personable but I guess that was too much. I went here for lunch last week because I visited a competitor down the street and wanted to check out pizza in the area. There are 3 places on 157, 2 on main, 1 on 10 and 1 on Bedford Rd all relatively close together. I never thought about it before but competition is pretty stiff around this area. NYPD is also a deli and it has that going for it, a bit extra to set them apart. I ordered two slices of pepperoni, they were good, the cheese was a bit splotchy, and uneven but everything tasted fine. I give three stars because the slices were smaller and the crust was not as crispy as Sal's. Both charge $6 for two slices. I've not tried their deli sandwiches in years so I would like to visit again for that. read more

Sorry but the pizza was awful. Tasted like frozen crust, way too chewy and tasteless. The sauce tasted like preservatives and the only flavor was way too much pepper. Ended up throwing most of it away. A tombstone frozen pizza is better. Dark interior, smelled like Mr. clean or some powerful floor cleaner. Guy running the place was friendly so I gave 2 stars. read more
