So I walked in. It was absolutely freezing in there. They did accommodate me and shut the fan off. I ordered a special of a slice of pizza and a salad. They told me the pizza is gonna take about six minutes when the slice of pizza did arrive. I did bring it to their attention that it was burnt on the bottom and they said that's the way their pizza is.! There is no way that it came from a fresh pizza. That slice of pizza was not hot. I was on a time constraint because of work so I ate it. That was my mistake.! I received a check from the server. I asked about the 10% professional courtesy because I paid cash. That's what the sign said outside and it's he stated that I was not able to have the cash discount because it wasn't an entrée well it doesn't say it on the sign outside. Then I got my change back and the change was incorrect. He shorted me four dollars and I had to bring that to his attention. I will not be back anytime soon.! Think we found our go-to place for pizza and pasta. We typically just grab a large cheese to go for occasions but we've never actually eaten in, but glad we did this time. We were seated and greeted immediately and our waitress was fantastic. We ordered a large half pep and half meatball with ricotta, penne alla vodka and a side of meatballs. Portions were generous and every item was delicious, even the soup that came with it, a seafood chowder which they only make on weekends, so good. Parking close can be difficult depending on time but there is plenty of spots for a little walk. Will certainly be back again! read more

We loved NYPD ll. It's clean, comfortable, welcoming and more than anything the food is excellent. They started the service with their rolls which were about the best we've had in Florida, served with a small bowl of marinara sauce which tasted almost as good as my Sicilian grandmother used to make :-) We ordered pizza, salad and wine - the Verrazano Bridge salad we split was creatively different and hearty enough for a main meal, with impressively good dressings clearly home made. Our pizza was crispy and delicious, with the 14" size we took home half. When we realized how good the food was we looked more closely at the menu and decided for sure we will come back for the entrees which sounded great. By the way the house wine was good and everything was as inexpensive as we've seen in the decade! This restaurant is a keeper. read more

We keep having issues when we order from here. This one was the worst so now I have to say something.... We ordered a sub which was good. I had a calzone which was also good. My husband had chicken Parmesan meal. He gets it without the Parmesan because he can't do the cheese. It looked like they scraped it off of people's leftover plates. It was a disgusting pile of chicken. Chicken cutlets are supposed to be nice thin flat not big chunks and the pasta and the sauce on the pasta were completely tasteless. The pasta was like rubber. I am extremely disappointed in this business. I have been a loyal customer of NYPD II for over five years. Tonight I ordered an extra large pizza with EXTRA CHEESE and bacon. Either they had a new pizza maker or they changed the quality of not only the pizza but how they make their pizza. First, if they made the pizza with extra cheese then they definitely changed how much they put on their pizza. There was very little cheese on my pizza. Second, their customer service was poor. I called and was told I couldn't talk to a manager for an hour. AN HOUR! I was told that I could get credit for extra cheese ($4)-WHOOPEE! She said she could send out another pizza-in 40 minutes. That was until I told her my daughter had eaten some. Then she covered the mouthpiece to talk to someone-the MANAGER. SO she could talk to the manager but I couldn't?!?! Wrong-VERY wrong! When I was told AGAIN I couldn't talk to the manager-yet she could-I hung up. Third and Finally, I ended up eating some of the pizza. It was NOT up to the standard that NYPD II has been in the past. The pizza tasted like shoe leather. The lack of extra cheese made it overly chewy and the absence of bacon was very noticeable. I wasted my money. Simply look at the photos and you'll see what I'm talking about. They've lost a customer. NOT because the pizza was nearly inedible, but because of their "customer service," or lack thereof. To put me off when I ask for a manager is inexcusable. Especially when the help can speak to the manager. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND going elsewhere. UPDATE: I called back and spoke with Steve, the manager. I don't even live in the area anymore and I get ads texted to me constantly - I texted back "STOP" and I still get them - I blocked the number and I still get them from a different number. Just ordered a calzone with sausage for delivery since they're one of the few Italian restaurants that you can get delivery from. The red sauce that came with the calzone, tasted like it was spoiled, had an extreme vinegar taste to it the calzone itself was watery and not well cooked. I should never have started going back there. Their food went downhill quite some time ago, but this is outrageous. That sauce is definitely spoiled. read more

Ordered the lasagna and it was so salty it tasted like we were drinking sea water. Called the restaurant and their response was our cheese is salty, must be you, don't order the lasagna next time. I'm done with this restaurant you tell a long time customer that is in your restaurant at least once a week that you're not willing to replace an inedible meal, it's sad to me that I supported this family business for years, my children grew up eating food from here, and the restaurant is going to take the attitude that they are too good to have to make something over. Take a good look around, in case you haven't noticed there are a ton of restaurants that surround your store. From here on out I'll take my business to one of those other restaurants. My husband and I popped in for a quick bite before we had to get our holiday shopping on. The restaurant is cute, small, and delicious. We were seated right away and got our order taken care of quickly. We were treated to buttery garlic rolls and bruschetta bites on the house. It was a nice touch and they were a great starter until we got our dinner. The calzone was humongous loaded with ricotta, parmesan, and mozzarella cheeses with a side of marinara sauce. Ok, so I understand it's Friday, and most restaurants are busy, but we waited 45 minutes before we even got to order our food...BUT If you are a regular of this restaurant, then you've got it made. Two older couples cane in after us, were seated, ordered their food at a quickly, and were eating while we waited to order. My husband and I did not find the best service here. After ordering, I asked the waitress how much longer it would be so she check her order pad and realized that she never even put in the chicken wings that we ordered. That was the final straw as it was now nearing an hour. We looked around and found other frustrated patrons. One patron had to go up and physically pay for her meal at the checkout counter. She asked multiple times for her bill and never received it. Another patrons told us that it was a disaster as soon as he and his family sat down. They were equally frustrated. I was looking forward to trying this restaurant and has tasted the pizza many years ago but never visited it. This visit was so disappointing. We left a small tip and walked out! Had lunch with my family, haven't been there in a while but we ordered a Medium pizza and penne a la vodka, and the pizza never disappoints because we order it for meetings all the time. However the penne a la vodka did not taste good and was drenched in sauce. I don't think the waitresses' response was adequate. We have been customers of NYPD II since the day they opened 20+ years ago, and I can assure you that I am not one of those nonstop whining consumers. Though patrons should know that NYPD II does not feel it is important to follow its menu, which can harm one's health. For the third time, there were olives vs. walnuts, and the incorrect salad dressing provided, and instead of a simple apology, the manager, Steve, reversed the culpability and said to me, "Maybe we should part ways" and stated, "olives do come on the salad" and when I suggested that be reflected that on the menu, he said, "there always seems to be a problem with your order." I replied--"Yes, because you repeatedly fail to follow the posted ingredients on the menu. The BQE Salad states it has chicken, tomatoes, red onion, carrot, cucumber, pineapple, and walnuts! We received the salad three different times with olives on the salad vs. walnuts, and when we place the order, we always emphasize no olives. When picking up our food, my husband even asked if olives were put on the salad, and he was assured they were not, only to get home and find them." It used to be that NYPD II consistently followed what was described on the menu. It was a delight to enjoy the gluten-free pizza and know that what we ordered would be prepared accordingly. Yet we have seen a significant disappointing decline over the last year or so. I understand mistakes happen, and I was always well-mannered when calling to share that the gluten-free pizza was not cooked well-done, off the pan as requested, or there were olives on the salad, and no walnuts or the wrong salad dressing was included. NYPD II should value the feedback to ensure it doesn't happen repeatedly. There were times they did provide us with credit, and we accepted it and essentially used it to have the same thing happen all over again. I am sad to say after the owner's suggestion to part ways, we will certainly be doing just that. My girls grew up on their food, and we made sure to order from them weekly during COVID. We were such loyal and REGULAR customers. New York Pizza Dept. II on 6177 Jog Road, in Lantana Square, has been part of our lives for so long, but it is evident that Steve, the owner, is uninterested in customer retention and satisfaction. Maybe we caught him on a bad day, but he certainly has had enough time to call us back and apologize. I looked online to see if the BQE salad was updated to reflect olives vs. walnuts, and it has not been, so it makes you think about what else they substitute without telling you! Any restaurant's basic responsibility is to provide an accurate menu or inform a consumer if it has changed something before ordering. As a retired Hospitality/ HR professional in our community, I am disappointed with how this story ends. My family, friends, and I will find a new casual Italian restaurant to give our business to, one that can be depended on for menu accuracy and values longevity in their relationship with customers. read more
