This expressway stretches out from downtown buffalo, to the airport. Lot of times it's faster to take this expressway, than to drive the streets. But during rush hour (4:30-5:30) it's not worth driving on. read more

If you know someone named Ken with an awful singing voice, don't let Ken-sing-ton-ight. But if you wanna get into Buffalo from Clarence/Wiliamsvile/Depew/North Cheektowaga/East Amherst, then you might want to use the Ken-sing-ton-aight? I absolutely love this road. Now that the 198 has horrifically been reduced to 30 miles an hour this is the last way to get through the heart of North and East Buffalo without being stuck in gridlock. It usually moves quite well (like your ma) and is built below the surface of the city so that it doesn't contribute too much in terms of an eyesore or noise. Definitely the most vital road in the City of Buffalo. And considering I use it as much as I do and rarely end up stuck in traffic here it would be a bit hypocritical of me to give it a low rating. As an added bonus, the cops don't usually pull you over on this road. So a lot of people go well above the speed limit of 50 and do closer to 70. AKA "the 33" which is what locals usually call it, this 2-lane-racecourse begins right in front of Buffalo Niagara International Scareport, and winds its way like a twerking Asp (there was a P on the end, ok?) through Cheek to walk out, into some famous and run-down neighbourhoods of East and North Buffalo, and eventually spits you out in the very heart of downtown. It becomes three lanes after it crosses the famous I-90 (which by the way goes from Seattle all the way to Boston, now how cool is that). The best part of this road is that it will whisk you to parts of Buffalo you may never otherwise visit, and drop you off right in any neighborhood you like. Without the 33, Buffalo would be very hard to circumnavigate. Once you enter the Buffalo section of this road, the speed limit is rarely adhered to. But in the Cheektowaga section, do not speed. The cops are regularly in those parts. Have fun on the 33. But don't do 33 on the 33. You'll get beeped at. Not by me. Unless it's snowing. Then 33 (or less) is probably a good idea. read more

I'm not a fan of this road. It cuts through the city. I just don't think that "adds value"'. And I measure roads by the value they add. Thruways add a faster route to a far flung destination. Usually a straight, well plowed and maintained road. Often for a cost o you, the traveller. This road starts downtown and ends at the airport. Yes, sounds useful. Some say it is. And I can't disagree. But what it does by bringing people to the airport sooner is cut through the city. So I'm all for easy transport, but I prefer neighborhoods being left intact as well. I use this road often, but I won't miss it if it goes away. read more

From the burbs into the city, the 33 is a delight to travel. As I have traveled from the northern burbs to various areas downtown for Yelp events, typically around the end of the rush hour, I can easily sail right through the city on the 33. For that reason alone, I love the 33. I also love that it's 4 lanes for the most part so again knuckleheads wishing to burn rubber at high speeds have plenty of room to do so. There are areas of the 33 where the speed limit is 50 mph. No one abides by this. Even at 55 mph you'll feel like a n00b. The 33 starts/ends at the airport, which is an easy gateway to access the city from if you're coming from East Amherst/Clarence. It's pretty much smooth sailing until you come to the split at the 198. I hate the split at the 198 (the scajaquada) because people like to slam their brakes on to slow down here. Stay to the right to travel onto the 198, or to the left to continue on my buddy the 33. The 33 starts/ends at Oak Street, which is the gateway, alongside Goodell Street, to some great Yelp events. read more

I love taking the 33 downtown, I used to dread driving down the 33 and thought it took for ages but it is a better alternative to get past the dreaded Main Street. It used to take me 30mins to get to the va medical center from ecc north but now I moved onto Genesee near the airport it's my main way to places the trip to the va medical center is 10 mins I also like taking Kensington but the traffic circles are really crazy And even though I have had some close calls near accidents from people not looking changing lanes with no signal. it beats sitting in suburban traffic. Bottom line it is a fun experience and should be a buffalo/surrounding area must do when you visit. read more

Not much to say here but that I literally take this highway home EVERY day. It's old faithful, miss reliable, the go to gayl...whatever you wanna call it! Love this highway you can get anywhere in buffalo using it within 20 mins read more
