As of the day I'm writing this. 04/16/2025. Here's the problem. You give a family member permission to make a deposit for you, with that you give them your debit card because it makes for a faster easier transaction Obviously you trust that person with my debit card. Bottom line is I accept all responsibilities for my account. So you have someone go make your deposit, the bank teller says that the person who's account it belongs to needs to come in to do it. Ok ya fine whatever. Then the bank calls the account holder and says you have some unusual activities on your account and you sent someone in to make a deposit for you and they had your debit card so we cancelled your card. They said they cancelled it without verify the person has permission or not because card sharing is against there policy. No where online, in there policy, nowhere does it state that it's against policy or rules, it says OB credit Union does not explicitly forbidden allowing someone to use your debit card they strongly advise against it. There words. So now that they turned off the card and activity on the account. The teller behind the counter and the manager need to find different jobs. Reread your own policies and quit making them up as you see fit. I'm gonna blast this everywhere as a matter of fact because of your incompetence and lack of general knowledge I will post this to every platform and on other banks reviews not to bank at Over credit Union and that you people make up your own policies as you go. They sold car to my husband a car that wasn't worth what they are charging 22,000 for a car that is only worth at most 10,000. Their interest rates are just stupidly high!!! My husband has been paying on this car for the past 2 years and half and still owes more than the car is worth! He pays 300 every month and only 180 goes to the payment where does the rest go??? If I could give them 0 stars I would. My daughter while in the army 5 years ago bought a car from a used dealer. He financed her with O Bee C.U. at a low rate of 10.99 which is great for a person who has 0 credit. However the loan was for 60 months/5 years and now that she has only 6 months left to pay her $256 payment, she somehow owes over $6000! They are telling her it is a CPI charge, although her account statements don't reflect that. They say "advance" and my daughter has never gotten anything other than a car. And even though she has provided proof of having insurance, CPI is a charge for not having insurance, they refuse to remove the extra money they are charging her. I am going to be filing a complaint with NCUA. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT FINANCING ANYTHING WITH THIS CREDIT UNION read more

We've been using Obee since we moved out here 3 years or so ago. Way better than Bank of America, who my husband was using before, and about the same as the local credit union I used back in Michigan. I'm glad they've opened up another branch, their other branches are located in Tenino, Tumwater, and Hawks Prairie. I've had an account with this CU for a few months. If I transfer funds to my other account, it take DAYS. My husband's debit card has been compromised twice in two weeks, even after he got a new card after the first time. The after hours customer "service" is off shore and terrible. I got approved for a car loan purchased my car through a dealership and before the first payment was due the car started falling apart. After multiple attempts to contact dealer I never got a call back to rectify the situation. I returned the car to the dealer after TWO weeks. Like I said before I was required to make the first payment. Covid happened and I was in full communication with Obee in which I was able to pay what I could. Then I lost both my jobs and become homeless but was still paying what I could. I had to turn to a debt relief program where I would still be paying my debt but In payments that I could afford. If what they say in their mission statement had any truth to it then I would think that they would work with people who were trying their best to pay their bills. It wasn't like I drove the car for months then decided "meh I don't want this anymore" it wasn't like I am not willing to pay my bill. According to my debt relief program they are super aggressive going after me with court summons, not caring if I'm homeless again, not willing to do payment plans to help "people" not be homeless again. They were great at first, but within the last month it's been awful. The balances on your account changes everyday. I didn't use my card for a week and a half and over 300.00 is mysteriously missing. Their online banking screwed up my balance and made me "bounce" a check even though it had nothing to do with anything I did. They charged a 30.00 over draft fee because of their mistake. This isn't the first time it's happened either, the other time with was with my automatic withdraw car insurance and payment for something else. Always had money in my checking for it and it came back as insufficient funds as I'm looking at my account with more than enough money in it. Never had these issues with twinstar. This review is for the Tumwater Branch. I have belonged to Obee for 31 years. I can honestly count 2-3 times in over hundreds in which I have not had a good contact. They are exceptionally good at what they do, they answer their phones, they are kind and helpful. They have great rates and quick turn around on loans. They have great customer appreciation events and freebies. They have clean lobbies and great hours. Where they lose two stars is their HORRIBLE ONLINE BANKING WEBSITE. Their mobile app is fine but if you do a lot of web banking you will NOT want to join Obee at this time. I have made several constructive comments to people at the branch and online. I was told a year ago they would be making improvements yet they have not. Their website is very difficult to navigate, you cant tell which account is which and you cant name the account. WITH ALL OF THE TECHNOLOGY AVAILABLE it is HORRID that they can't fix the user experience. Whoever designed their online banking site should be fired and a refund is due. Since most banking is done online now, this is really unacceptable and unfair of the credit union to push onto their loyal customers. They don't seem to be in a hurry to fix the problem either. I moved to the area from Portland in 2017, having recently bought a house in Lacey. Naturally, my 15+ year old Subaru decided it was done with life about 7 months after I moved here. At the time, I was banking with Wells and was slowly trying to move business over to FirstTech Credit Union. When I had the dealership run my financials; they ran me through a single credit-pull (THANK GOD) using CUDDL and Obee had the best rate out of everyone. I moved all my business to them instead of FirstTech out of convenience. I love Obee--I've had zero issues with them. Obee has been instrumental in helping me build my credit score well beyond what I came to them with. (I have gone up 20+ points across the board thanks to the auto loan and their credit card). My only gripe is their website isn't the greatest. Their mobile app is fine, but their website needs work. They still don't allow you to fund any loan products online unless the source is a checking account with them. I am not a fan of this at all. If they would change this--I would give them five stars. Otherwise though, they are great people! read more

My Fiance financed her car with them. there was an issue with a holiday and paying her loan. We called OBEE to just pay the payment to ensure there was no late payment. We pressed option 2 on the automated system to make a payment and a operator answers saying they don't take payments over the phone. After finding that out we try to make a payment online. Well come to find out you cant make a payment online if you don't bank with them. WHAT A JOKE NEVER BANK OR LOAN ANYTHING FROM THIS PLACE. My name is Sean Werner and I have been a mortgage lender for 24 years and I have been referring my current and past clients to OBEE for equity lines and loans. I will not be doing that anymore the way they have treated my and my clients. I recently had a husband and wife who needed to get an equity line on both there homes one was an investment property and other was owner occupied loan. The money was to be used for her parents down payment on the parents new home. Jeremy Franklin in the Point Ruston Office was the Loan Officer in Tacoma who asked for my referrals and did both applications. After a week all was going great both approved and all my clients needed to get was there IRS 4506 T Transcripts. The one borrowers previous employer was having problems getting the info for the IRS Transcripts so to meet OBEE Credit Union Needs so they both took time off to meet with the IRS to get physical Transcripts. After telling Jeremy we had them he stopped responding which does not work then sent me stating for me and the clients to longer contact him. I was like surprised and now had to locate upper management and got a hold of the President David Echles which took three days to get back to me and then told me. We are just going to decline the customers loans. We don't like the way they were submitted. What the .... You had them all approved and after telling them the only thing they need is the IRS Transcripts you won't accept. Unfortunately as much as I want to love them, as I left a major bank to support local credit unions, it has been mostly a technology headache. In the past couple of years, I am often unable to access information online (I cannot look at my own check images, why? kind of a pain as i make sure I have tracked all my home repairs for tax time). I was out of town this year unable to access money or get anyone to answer a phone at OBEE due their own total system failure and then got overcharged for all the transactions their system had denied (thank god I have a back up account at another bank). I cannot search for a key word when searching transactions and the system often does not search correctly despite what I enter. Unlike other banks- Chase, BOA, Ally, US Bank- the Obee app and website are very limited. The people are wonderful, the technology is terrible, unreliable and has left me stranded. As soon as I set aside the time this year, I will leave this bank and transfer everything to another local credit union who my family have never had problems with. If you have OBEE, keep a back up bank somewhere. This has been my saving grace. Sorry Obee. I hope you can do better in the near future because I want to support you. read more

I have an auto loan through this credit union, I left a message to have someone call me regarding my loan three business days ago. I've tried to call more than 5 times and each time I call I wait on hold for 15 minutes then it hangs up on me. I've been trying to set up the app, and I keep getting the confirmation error. It says that the errors because I'm not using the same IP address that I started the process with but I haven't used anything other than my laptop. Absolutely terrible. I was very disappointed in how impossible it was to get good customer service, many time I found Obee to be understaffed creating a hurried and harried atmosphere to the point I couldn't get my banking done with staff placing more emphasis on the next customer and not me, when asking an explanation of terms the staff where incapable and many did not know how to explain their own terminology, I found when I tried making suggestions they where seen as insults and Obee used my money to punish me by making statements about my CD like "If you don't make a payment we will keep your money" and then forgetting on purpose to sign me up for automatic withdrawals of payments, I found their staff under trained and the learning curve months long, I felt continuously embarrassed by management when ever I appealed to them to rectify a situation they refused and still to this day refuse giving no explanation, I felt abused neglected and mistreated by money being taken from my account in fees because I was misunderstanding how to properly use their services and not understanding some of the jargon of course this was justified by pointing out my imperfection and the contest would go on with no resolution to this day, do not join this Credit Union if you want to be misunderstood or mistreated, just my experience. read more

If you like to travel, this bank is not for you. I called OBEE to let them know I was traveling in California and driving through Oregon so they wouldn't put a hold on my account. The person I spoke to said, "I will put a note on your account but just be aware if you pay at the pump on your road trip we might put a hold on your account anyway." So I asked, "since I drive home over the weekend I could be stranded with my car in the middle of nowhere and have no access to my account until Monday even though you know I am traveling?" She said "that is correct." Um ok. Now I have to open another account with another bank just so I can travel. Nice. On Sunday my daughter got a check from her grandma (my mom) for 50 dollars. She is a child so I did what any normal parent would do. I endorsed the check, then went to the ATM to deposit. My daughter's savings account doesn't come up on my ATM screen so I deposited it into my account then with my mobile app transferred the money from my checking account into her savings account. I get a call Monday morning from this lady scolding me and talking to me like I'm a 5 year old saying, "I'll let this slide just this one time, but never again!" Like I had done something totally shady and unethical. Did I mention my daughter is a kid? And I transferred the money to her account? Steer clear of OBEE. They have way too many issues. read more

I have been with Obee off and on for 15 years, the off was simply because I moved out of the area-and although Obee is stellar about shared branching, I wasn't comfortable making night deposits (I'm a server/bartender)at a shared branching location. But as soon as I moved back? First thing I did was get a new account! Since then I've lost my debit card visiting (in East Vegas none the less, very little debauchery) and not only did the gal put an hold immediately on my card but when I was looking for a damn CU in Vegas that was still open, she stayed on the line to help me figure out a route. She google mapped me. NOT HER JOB! That was so very far above and beyond. My favorite teller let me know one of my checks was post dated and offered to put it in the night drop to save me the time. So My husband and I have a car loan thru Obee and we have had it for about 2.5 years with no problems. We decided to open a checking account and a savings with Obee. The banking site says will give you a call soon in regards to the account which I applied for on a Sat. so I contacted the live chat and Amy the Live Chat Bank Agent tells me" Well today is Monday and we are busy playing catch-up besides we have 24-48 hours to get back to you!" So it is really ok to tell a customer that you are to busy to get back to them? Thanks! Big shout out to America Credit Union and Puget Sound Credit Union for allowing us to open out accounts there. This place gets the first star because the rates are decent enough. They beat BECU for an auto loan which is worth noting. They get the second star because their customer service over the phone is par for the course. They don't get any more stars because it is MOTHER EFFING 2019 AND THEY CHARGE YOU A MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION TO PAY ONLINE. WHAT THE F*CK IS THAT. If you are financing an auto loan here, make sure you factor in the $5/mo subscription you are charged to pay, even with a debit card. Someone up the food chain at O Bee got FLEECED by some stupid online portal bullshit service such that unless you have a bank account with them, you cannot avoid their exorbitant fee. When I started my autopay for a car loan I was able to pay via another banks checking account, still with the $5 fee. Then one month, without any warning, they cancelled my payments and wouldn't let me pay from a checking account. Worst financial institution I have ever worked with. I have an auto loan through them that was brokered while I purchased my car. I was not familiar with them but they offered low rates so I obtained a car loan through them. I have never had a pleasant interaction with any of their customer service reps... their customer service is TERRIBLE, and their technology is very out of date. They charge you to pay your loan every way except for sending a check. Rates may be low, but it's not worth it. Especially at the Lacey branch where I had the opportunity to deal with Mallory and her supervisor who would not give me her name and would not transfer me to her supervisor to escalate this unresolved issue to the next level. Long story short I will be finding a new lender today and make sure I never have to deal with these unprofessional people again. read more

I went to O Bee to get a home loan to pay off a private contract, not your normal mortgage situation. The mortgage person was unresponsive, couldn't remember who I was, filled out the loan info incorrectly (spelled my husbands last name wrong, we have the same last name!), they had all of our paperwork, tax docs, pay stubs, etc., couldn't be bothered to pull it out and look at it. Quoted about $500 for an appraisal, actually $805! The cherry on top was the roughly $18,000 in loan fees that they were going to charge me because they didn't take the time to call the title company to figure out was going on, not a traditional mortgage situation. Needless to say we didn't get the loan and I wil be sure to share with everyone I know to avoid O Bee. read more

I was looking for a business account. I called several credit unions and they all charged an application fee, however when I called Obee they said they didn't, their monthly fee was higher but no application fee. I wondered whether I just got a new employee and called again (different person answered) and they told me the same thing. They also said I could complete the process in a branch and would get an account that day. I live in a remote area but made the 5 hour drive to open an account (I confirmed I could do everything I needed remotely so one trip to the branch was worth it). I was told at the branch that there was a $500 application fee. I complained and the manager came out and said their call center was misinformed and I was out of luck. Also the branch only had a paper application, they couldn't process it or approve and account, it takes a week. While I was there I noticed they were advertising 7.52% rates on deposit accounts. I asked about it and they said it was only for the first $500 deposited. I understand 7.5% is way above anyone else but isn't it misleading to not mention it's only for the first $500? I left of course, went to another institution with higher app fee but lower monthly fee and I did the whole thing online... plus they weren't misleading. read more

Obee credit union is terrible for military personel. They own my loan for my vehicle. I asked for the doccuments that I needed from them to ship my vehicle overseas due to a pcs to europe. I can not express my frustration in words with them. Even though no where in my contract or financial documents does it say that I would not be allowed to ship my vehicle overseas I have been told by the CLO "Dave" of OBee that I will be unable to ship my var over seas for my pcs move. The reason they provided is that they have lost countless vehicles. Obviously this is not true. Everyone knows that if a soldier stops paying on a vehicle it is fairly easy for a lean holder to recoup their money. The governmnet will just with hold that money from the soldier ontop of that soldier possibly receiving an article 15. That said, even with orders they were unwilling to budge. So I have been forced to payoff the vehicle in full, pay for my own express title because the bank doesnt have it oddly enough (every car loan ive had...many...the bank had the title in hand). I was told 8 weeks to get the physical title by standard methods and thus an $80+ tax cost out of my pocket to cover their ass so I can ship my vehicle on time. If you are military do not use them. Ive litterly had the vehicle 3 months and asked if it was ok to ship the vehicle overseas when i purchased the vehicle and I was ok then...but not now. Terrible experience. I have been with O Bee for a few years now and for the most part, I really like them. My kids have the bear savings account and enjoy going in to make deposits and count their change. They get little treats for making deposits and that makes it fun for them. I love their debit card design and the people in the West Oly branch are great. I have not had any problems with my account or the service I've received. When I had an 'oops' in my account, they took care of it for me. For reference - I am VERY familiar with credit unions. I only use CUs for my accounts and I worked at Washington's largest CU for almost 18 years. Only a couple of areas for improvement: 1. my debit card begins to peel pretty quickly and then needs to be replaced. 2. No deposits available at ATM, so if I need to deposit cash, I have to wait until I can go in. This is a pretty outdated way of doing business. 3. Even though I can enroll my O Bee debit on Apple Pay, it never works - always sends a decline and then when I use my debit card instead, it works. read more

I have had issues trying to log on to their online site, but the assistance I received from Felicia Alden was great! Since then, I've dealt with Felicia on numerous occasions and she has provided great customer service each time! She, along with the O Bee staff I've worked with have provided only good service! OBEE C/U BILL PAY WATCH OUT!!!!! I recently opened a checking and savings account with OBee in January 2016. In February, 2016 I set up bill pay and included my BofA credit card, typed in the date of 2/23 to pay the bill. That payment didn't go out until 2/24 making my cc acount 1 day late with interest charges. OBee says it's an ACH (I didn't set it up on ACH) but it must take them 1 day to get ready to send it out. OBee is programmed to hold onto your $$ for and extra day or 2 and reap the interest before they send your payment out. They will not reimburse me the interest I have to pay. This is wrong....I have never had a bank send out my $$ the next day. It has always been the day that I schedule it. I do not trust their bill pay system and am closing my accounts out. The people at the branch have been great to work with, I just need to close it based on principle. read more
