DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK O'briens came out to re-key some locks covered by my home warranty. The technician was perfectly nice and I thought it was a job well done, until I tried to open one of the doors he re-keyed. They said the lock should turn twice, and it only turns once. Without coming to check, they claim that it's a problem with the door and they are not responsible. If I want them to come out and check, I would have to pay more money. The do not stand behind their work, and I do not recomend them. EDIT I paid another locksmith to come out, and Obriens had done it wrong in the first place. DO NOT USE THEM there are other honest locksmiths. read more

My granddaughter goes to college out of state. I wanted to make sure she had a spare electronic key in the event her keys were lost or stolen. I talked with Ryan and he suggested since it was only a backup he could make a key that worked on the doors and the ignition thereby cutting the cost significantly. He met me at my daughters house at the time he said he would meet me and made and paired the key the car's computer system in less than a half hours. Highly recomend. read more

Don't do business with a company whose primary contact does not recall your multiple phone conversations with her, does not remember your exact request and does not remember if you paid for their service. Hold on to your receipt is all I can say. I Spoke with Michelle on the phone and told her exactly what I needed, I was providing my own transponder key that needed cut and programmed. Bought a car at the auction that had a missing key. She give me a quote and said it would be less expensive if I was to get the vehicle towed there so they could retrieve the codes that were needed. Had vehicle transported to their facility. She called me the next business morning to confirm the work was done. I was surprise at the fast service. I inquired about the cost and she give me a figure far less than what I expected because she guaranteed me that the key did not need programming. I then asked if they started the car, but was advised it had a dead battery. I bought a brand new battery, but car wouldn't start. I then became adamant that they verify that the car key didn't need to be programmed. She put the key in a machine and said it had a chip, but will cost additional to program. This is what I requested in the first place. The new quote she give me far exceeded the original quote to cut and program the key and I did not get the discount she told me about initially if I got the car towed to them. She told me she didn't remember having such conversation with me. I needed a working key so I almost agreed to the new charges, but once I processed the fact that she didn't recall having a conversation with me, I decided to take the vehicle somewhere else. I paid for the key cutting and sent my tow truck driver there 2 days later to pick up the car. When the tow truck driver arrived, Michelle told him that I hadn't pay them for the key cutting. At this point I got very upset and drove all the way back there with my receipt. However, she found a copy of my receipt before I arrived and had given my key to the tow truck driver. I had another company program the key and the car started immediately. This was a very bad experience with O'Brien Lock and Key. read more

Extremely rude male person both on the phone and in person at their business location. Life is too short and there are too many locksmiths in Columbus to deal with these kinds of people. Customer service sets a business apart from the rest. I will definitely let my associates know NOT to patronize this place. read more
