Friends and I visited for Karaoke Friday. We had 5-7 people at our table. The service was good. The bartenders were behind the bar most of the night - most people took their cans or empty glasses up to the bar. You can keep your tab open for easy ordering and settle up before you leave. They do have drink specials. The karaoke crowd was a mix. Some people obviously show up every Friday and are great singers. Some of the regulars don't sing well but make up for it with enthusiasm. Every table is expected to provide a singer (or two). No lookie-lou's allowed. Bring a list of tunes you want to sing and the DJ will make recommendations. I didn't realize one of my friends was nervous about public speaking; she really wanted us to do this. She got up to sing Rihanna's Stay and she got hit with nerves. One of the regulars was so kind, offering encouragement and even singing it with her as a duet. read more

I've been coming here for better or worse for what feels like forever. Let's be clear - it's a very gay friendly bar close to campus, so if you're an asshole, don't swing by to ruin the mood. You will be outnumbered by awesome people in a great area of town. My friends love karaoke, and they have amazing karaoke mcs. Club 20 is a great little LGBT-friendly dive bar -- the best LGBT-friendly dive bar in Columbus! As readers probably can tell by the photos in the header of this business's profile, it is rather small inside. However, and somewhat deceptively, it offers outdoor space that rivals the indoor space, and this outdoor space is divided roughly in half between a patio area and a heated "garage-like" space that functions well in all but the most brutal winter conditions. How many bars offer something like that? Unlike most of the LGBT-friendly bars in Columbus, which are located either in the Short North or the south end, Club 20 is just off High St. in the North University District, so it is a nice alternative when one tires of the typical offerings. The crowd at Club 20 often reflects its location with patrons ranging from "eclectic" to downright "Bohemian", which only makes Club 20 more interesting. The nice thing about Club 20 is that everyone is welcome, everyone is friendly, and everyone gets along. The only real drawback is that parking can be a challenge at times, but go there a few times and you will figure that out. Club 20 is the best LGBT-friendly bar to go to for karaoke Tuesdays and/or Fridays in Columbus. Yes, Tuesday karaoke is back after a long COVID-19 interruption! O'Connors Club 20 is a dive if I've ever seen one! I came up to visit some friends in Columbus over Pride weekend and we found ourselves here after a long day of celebrations. Pride weekend brought a big crowd into this place and the drag show entertainment that came in was great. The atmosphere was super welcoming and you can tell that this bar probably has a great sense of community during their usual nights. I'm a sucker for a good dive and this place is certainly no exception. O'Connors definitely has a pretty grungy vibe and I wouldn't take someone here I was trying to impress. However, If I wanted to have a no-nonsense night with friends, this place would be an awesome spot to come booze up and sing some karaoke or catch a drag show. I feel bad giving this bar 3 stars because I frequent there a lot, but, honestly, after the last time I was there, I'm a little worried. If it was my first time, I undoubtedly would have given it only 1. The drinks are hit or miss. Sometimes they're so weak I quit buying them or they are absolutely delicious (meaning strong). It seems as if it depends on, more obviously, who the bartender is or if they like/know you. The last time I was there I had 4 captain and diets and walked home sober after paying $20. Here's the more disturbing part. The last time I was there it was a karaoke night. Hold up, before I continue, I do want to say that Club 20 is a BLAST and have a wicked awesome karaoke night with outstanding performers! I use the word "performers" because the people who get up and sing are amazing! It's so fun! And the DJ's are outstanding. And bingo nights on Tuesdays are everything. It's a wonderful bar! I don't want to scare anyone away with my concerns, but... The last time I was there, there were a group of girls, very obviously, on heroin. They were nodding off, couldn't speak, and it was an absolutely horrible sight. My main concern was that they were still serving them alcohol. Not okay with me at all. I felt it was in poor taste and if this continues, I will stop going. However, I've only seen this once. I would check it out, though! After trying to get some fellow yelpers to come here with me for upwards of a year, and then getting beat to the chase by some other yelp friends, I finally went here at the beginning of the summer. I can't say for sure why it took me four months to write my review, but so it goes. It is a small bar with a handful of tables situated throughout the floor as you walk in, with the bar directly in front of you. Drinks, as one might expect, are fairly stiff. Unlike some of the other gay bars I sometimes frequent in town, Club 20, being a dive bar, is rather cheap. It definitely didn't hurt my wallet too bad, and I even bought a round for my friends. The real feature that makes this bar shine, though, is the patio. Although the door to get to it is kind of cramped along the left side of the bar, which can make it tricky to come in and out if it's busy, the reward on the other side is worth it. The patio is nearly as big as the bar area itself! It is fenced in, slightly tranquil (I swear I recall a water feature or two), and has the vibe of an oasis in the O'No! neighborhood. O'Connor is a little fun place situated in a house. It is actually a house in Old North area off of Duncan and High cross from late night slice and a hookah shop in the heart of Old North Columbus just steps north of Campus and directly south of Clintonville. They have several nights where they offer a fun karaoke . This is an LGBTQ run-owned and friendly establishment. While I'm not a member of the community I always felt welcome here and have always had a good time. Drinks here are pretty cheap and bartender can fix whatever you wish for. They have drink specials on Tuesday night while Karaoke is on. They have a second weekly karaoke night on Fridays I believe. Crowd is pretty diverse but it's a small cozy place so definitely not for the clusterphobic or prudish. They have a rear patio mainly for smokers . I think this is a fun place if you're out on Campus/Old North/Clintonville area and just looking for a semi dive bar with cheaper drinks, little diverse scene, and maybe some music. Club 20, hands down, is my favorite bar in Columbus. To outsiders, it may appear to just be your run of the mill gay dive bar, but if you actually come back from time to time it takes on the feel of great neighborhood bar, with lots of friendly regulars, and some of the greatest bartenders Columbus has to offer. The drinks are cheap as hell, and the bartenders are pretty heavy-handed. The jukebox is actually pretty good too. Also to my surprise, Club 20 has one of the best patios in Columbus. It's even heated in the winter so all the smokers don't have to freeze their asses off, and in fairer seasons, they have a bar out there that they serve you from. Also, I just found out fairly recently, apparently Club 20 is John Waters' favorite bar in Columbus!!! As far as gay hole-in-the-wall bars go, Club 20 and Havana take the cake. Located a mere bock from High Street near Hudson, parking is on the street so make sure you read the signs as some places you can't park. Inside you'll find a quaint, well taken care of little bar with a friendly staff and gay misfits...however everyone is really nice and more than willing to strike up a conversation. Karaoke is Saturday night and despite the fact I do not part-take due to sounding like a dying yak, it was really fun...makes me wish I was born with vocal cords too and not just the "gay ear". Drink prices are reasonable and there is a dart board, pinball and pool table crammed into this place for your A.D.D. pleasures. We were bar hopping in the area and I had read online that the place attracts a mixed crowd. If by "mixed crowd" they meant "gay guys", then they were spot on. Definitely a gay dive bar and even has cement block walls (plain white). You'd think they would have added a little bit of color. Drinks were cheap and there are pool tables, so we stuck around for a little while. An extra star for no Kelly Clarkson/Lady Gaga songs. I had been coming here for a bit before I learned they have a serious problem with anti-black racism. A bartender there engaged in a series of micro aggressions against a Black patron (a mutual friend of mine). The manager was confronted about this and he then doubled down. I left a review on their Facebook page about this. They reached out to me to "apologize" and I asked them what they plan to do to correct this. Instead of responding or taking any corrective action at all, they have instead turned off reviews on their Facebook page. So I am leaving this on their Yelp page! I have been coming to this bar for almost 5 years as a regular. It used to be one of my favorite places to grab a drink and do some karaoke. This is no longer the case. The white bar staff have proven themselves to be racist against black people time and time again, and they are enabled by management. I have been witness to it on multiple occasions. When it was brought to light, it was handled very poorly. Both staff members and management laugh reacted my friend's posts on Facebook, despite the fact that they were voicing a very valid concern. It was extremely unprofessional, and frankly, kind of disgusting. I left a negative review on their FB page, and while they did reach out to me to apologize, they did not apologize to the people they had wronged. Not only this, but they ended up turning off the ability to review their establishment at all on FB! I am highly disappointed, but frankly, unsurprised, and will no longer be spending my money here. read more

20 is a delight and a half! It's a clean dive bar. The prices are superb and the drinks are *strong*. The selection isn't big, but there's something for everyone. Karaoke, comedy, and burlesque (boylesque) nights are lively. Service is quick, and the bartenders are friendly and chill. The patio is half-covered and large -- and also heated during the winter. I'm 25 and straight, but hate all the bars in Columbus due to them being over filled with testosterone ridden college assclowns and floozy skanks riddled with STD's not to mention the prices. So yeah, I had fun with the karaoke and will probably be back, but after an experience with a gropey guy, I totally hid in a corner behind my female companions. I asked a friend how gay it was before i went on a scale of 1-10 and he said 6 I think, but just about everyone seemed gay to me. Anyhoo, seems like a good group of friendly regulars. The bartender was nice, but don't expect much of a beer selection on tap. They have a pool table, (which I think I saw more dancing and singing on than pool playing), and dart boards. The karaoke was a little cramped into a corner, and a little loud sometimes, but still fun, and he had a pretty good selection and setup. I love this bar, especially when Stevie is working. I'm never in a bad mood when he's there. Lee is also a treat. He does his job well and he's not hard of the eyes either. The regulars are like family, it's usually not too loud, there's always something going on, and it's not horrifically expensive. The only qualm I have is that all the beer is domestic swill.
