Always a perfect experience here! Came in last week for a more casual Wednesday night dinner. Had the White Cheddar Cheese Burger with french fries which was so freaking good. My burger was cooked very well, and the french fries were a pretty generous serving, so you definitely have more than enough food. I also had the Brooklyn to drink, which I really liked. I typically like a sweeter old-fashioned, but they use a rye whiskey in theirs, so the Brooklyn was a nice alternative. Our server, Danny was super friendly and very attentive to our needs. It was actually our anniversary that day, so the restaurant gave us a complementary slice of chocolate cake which was to die for. That is the best chocolate cake I've ever eaten. What a treat to come to this establishment for happy hour as me and my friend were hanging out and wanted to try somewhere new. This place is on 1307 Grandview Avenue, and we decided to park a block away on the street, which is free. If you do want to park near the restaurant in the back, you can but it is paid. When we entered the building, we opted for the bar seating and we got service quickly. It was busy as everyone was having dinner and drinks. There is a patio outside with seating outside the entrance. And since it was a beautiful day, it was packed! We love The Avenue! Food is phenomenal. Atmosphere was incredible. Service exceeded (our high) expectations. Connor was a very knowledgeable, warm server who had great insight on the menu and drinks-- especially wine. He was willing to chat with us throughout the night which made our experience very engaging and enjoyable. Visiting from California for the UCLA-Ohio State game, our friends from Jersey took us to The Avenue for a nice, upscale dinner. To my delight, the place was beautifully decorated and incredibly Christmas-y. It honestly felt like stepping into a little holiday town, which made me so happy. Our server, Aubrey, was wonderful. She walked us through the menu and answered all of our questions. I ordered the skirt steak; the presentation was great, but unfortunately the steak itself tasted a bit dry for me. Maybe I should have gone with medium-rare, but I usually prefer medium, which is what I ordered. The side dishes were good--the fries and salad were solid. Yesterday, we headed to The Avenue Steak Tavern for happy hour, and it did not disappoint. We had a reservation for 5 and were seated right away. I really appreciated that OpenTable let us specifically book a patio table, since happy hour is only available on the patio and at the bar. The selection and prices for happy hour were fantastic. We ordered the Parmesan Green Beans, Dungeness Crab Deviled Eggs, White Cheddar Cheeseburger Sliders, Tavern French Fries, and Baked Cheese Fondue. My personal favorite was the Parmesan Green Beans with Lemon Aioli--they were incredible. If I ordered again, I'd skip the deviled eggs (hard to eat and I'm not a big egg fan) and probably pass on the cheese fondue--it was fine, but I think we could find better options. The Avenue bills itself as a upper scale steak house, but I'm not sure my experience will inspire me to choose them over other area steak houses moving forward. Our family gathered at Cameron Mitchell's the Avenue in Grandview to celebrate my oldest son's graduation from OSU. We were very pleased as our table was in the front, side room directly next to the fireplace. This was perfect- as one of our guest's is 84 and sometimes gets quite cold at restaurants- so this table couldn't have been more ideal but the table was a bit large for six people so it was hard to hear conversation due to this. Our server welcomed us and suggested a few appetizers. We began our celebration with martinis, Tom Collins, Steak Tartare, and the Mushroom Sauté, The sautee app was a larger crostini with amazing Mushroom in a flavorful demi glaze, highly recommend.... But not a great one for sharing as cutting the crostini is difficult and that app becomes messy. Still it was crazy delicious. So good. The steak tartare, however is excellent for sharing and I recommend it. Try asking for extra crostini... you will want and need it. We each ordered caesar salad. We were given the option of black or white anchovy. Of course our table stumped the server by asking whats the difference between white and black anchovy. We did a quick google search and learned black are cured longer which is what turns them dark. They are a bit more salty tasting. White anchovy are a little fresher and have been pickled in vinegar so they're a little more tangy. For dinner there were a lot of wonderful meals. Oso Buco Was the special, so a few people ordered that and said it was amazing. They highly recommend it. The beef stroganoff was the star. Everyone was jealous of that plate. The crab cake appetizer was doubled to become an entree after being paired with Brussels sprouts Yum. However, I ordered the dud: the branzino. I dont know why I ordered fish at a steak house. Well, I do. I don't really enjoy red meat. However, I did NOT enjoy my brazino.... At all. First, it comes out naked. It is sautéed but not served in its sauce. A small gravy boat full of the sauce/capers I would have expected it to be served in accompanies it. Odd. Second complaint, it was the thinnest fillet. Third complaint. It was overcooked (probably because it was so thin). Our server disappeared after delivering our entrees for a bit and by the time he came back and all the other meals had been half eaten so ordering a different entree would have had me eating while my party just watched me. Lol. So since I was hungry, I asked for a side. But that arrived after they all were done so I had that boxed for later and my dinner became dessert. That wasn't ideal. Dessert everyone ordered creme brûlée. My mother changed her mind and wanted chocolate cake . So I hopped up and tracked the server down. The order had already been placed so we just added an extra dessert of the chocolate cake. Now the creme brûlée was very good but if you are torn... get that cake. We had a party of five for dinner on a busy Sunday night. Greeted by a pleasant hostess and had to wait several minutes for our 7PM reserved table. We got a nice table in front of the fireplace which was nice on a chilly evening. Very please with service throughout evening as we relaxed with drinks, appetizers, main course, and dessert. Server went at our pace and did not rush us. The entire restaurant has a great old school steakhouse vibe. Great selection of cocktails and dinner items. The cocktails were expertly prepared as we enjoyed them. I highly recommend the steak tartare. It was exceptional. All our entrees were amazing, with the exception of the Sautéed Branzino which was overcooked and sent back. (Was happy they removed from our bill.) Beef Stroganoff was delicious along with the special selection: 20 ounce Waygu Osso Buco. OMG!!! Plenty of seating with a great bar. There is also a private table you can reserve. I would give them 5 stars if it wasn't for our fish dish. Otherwise a 4.5 with that experience. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere at The Avenue pulled us in--engaging and stylish, with a cool modern retro vibe that really works. The red leather seating gave the space a sense of both comfort and class. Our service was outstanding. A huge shout-out to Youseph, our server, who was not only incredibly personable but also knew the menu inside and out. Our server was Maggie who did an amazing job always keeping our drinks full and being attentive. The food was delicious! I had the scallops and green beans almandine. my husband had the ribeye and a loaded baked potato. The food was perfectly prepared. The only drawbacks were that we were seated in a very small two person booth which felt claustrophobic and the decor of the restaurant felt very casual for the price point of the menu. We came here to celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday. I typically avoid Cameron Mitchell restaurants because the quality rarely justifies the price--and The Avenue proved to be no exception. I ordered the white cheddar burger, and what I got was a soggy mess. The bun was soaked through, the lettuce and tomato were limp, and the burger itself was nearly rare. Honestly, a Whopper would've been more satisfying. My wife had the linguine with clam sauce, which she thought was just okay. After bringing the leftovers home and adding fresh Parmesan, cracked pepper, and sea salt, the dish actually tasted much better. Why couldn't it have been served that way to begin with? Overall, this visit was a letdown. When you're paying premium prices, you expect a premium experience--Cameron Mitchell just doesn't deliver. I'm not buying into the hype. Went to the avenue last night to celebrate my birthday. Was really excited to sit on the patio since it did have heaters. In our reservation notes we put quiet seating, and at first that's what we got since we were the only people on the patio, till they sat a family table of 6 directly next to us. I wouldn't be upset with this but they had a table available at the other end that could've sat them and not sat us side by side in an empty room.. this isn't the first time our reservation notes were not taken into consideration. we did move inside and from there our server Suzanne was AMAZING. She knew her stuff. We will come back and request her every time. The food was great as always, the scallops are just perfect, as someone who is weird with seafood too. The Avenue was one of our favorite places to dine. Somewhere we could go and know we would get great service and great food... unfortunately, they fell short on both this past weekend. We started dinner with drinks. We all ordered the Staten Island Ferry drink... it was ok. I would never drink more than one. It was a little too creamy in a bad way, and didn't taste good enough to make it worth it. When our waitress noticed we were ready for new drinks... she came to our table and said "we also have..." and then walked away like she was going to go grab something... but didn't come back for a long time. It wasn't until later she remembered and set a drink specials menu in a plastic stand on our table. When she finally came back, we hurried to get a food order in, since we weren't sure when she'd be back to check on us. We ordered: Shrimp cocktail - 8/10 good, nothing to complain about. But not spectacular Ribeye - 4/10 because it was NOT a ribeye. It was definitely a strip steak. There was zero fat on it, and it was not tender. It was chewy. When we tried to tell the waitress, I said, "I don't think this is a Ribeye" and she said "it's a ribeye..." while walking away to set something down at another table... but NEVER came back to finish discussing this. Look at the photo, is that ribeye??? Asparagus - 8/10 good not spectucular Corn - 9/10 very good Mashed potatoes - 10/10 delicious but portion was SO TINY. Like a side is def enough for one person only. Sautéed mushrooms - 9/10 salty and yummy Rolls - 9/10 soft and warm. Did they change their bread? I swear it was different before? All in all, I hope our disappointing experience was just a one time fluke... we've usually had great service and food here before. Maybe they were understaffed and our waitress had too many tables? Why does anyone go here anymore? The food is below average, the service is sub-par, and they can't manage their reservations. Went tonight for an early reservation (5:30) made almost 4 weeks ago. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived. The hostess said the table was finishing up, 25 minutes later, they were still "finishing up", even though there was no observable change. We left to go somewhere we could get served. When The Avenue opened, we were there twice a month. Slowly, the food became average and the service wasn't professional anymore (too much standing around and doing nothing), so we stopped going. Should have left it at that. A few things to note: even with a reservation you'll likely have to wait, they open the doors to be half indoor half outdoor and it can get chilly. I had been wanting to try The Avenue Steak Tavern despite being a Cameron Mitchell restaurant. My friend/second mother wanted to go to Dublin, but it was booked. Susanna, the server took care of us and was very friendly too. The Tavern Salad with a sweet dressing was excellent. I had a bone-in New York Strip steak with peppercorn on the steak and herb butter on a USDA Prime steak was very delicious. My friend had a special fish dinner that was huge. We shared the Parsley Potatoes that was perfect with the meal. I loved the Cheesecake with the tart Cherry sauce that was decadent and she had an ice cream sundae with Johnson's Real Ice Cream. The atmosphere was wonderful for a Prime steak restaurant. I will have to try The Avenue Steak Tavern in Dublin too. read more

While we waited, our waiter came out with the bread. It was warm and the butter was soft so it made it easy to spread. Our meals came out in an orderly time. The salmon came with shrimp and asparagus. Super flavorful, citrusy, and moist. The linguine on the other hand wasn't my favorite. There was way too much cheese on the clams and the sauce was watery. There was a ton of pasta but not a lot of clams. I didn't finish my meal unfortunately. The salad and the Caesar dressing was good. I put in the reservations that it was a birthday dinner, but our waiter didn't know. I ended up telling him and he did bring out a birthday dessert. 30 years. Thirty years ago I worked in this very location. Standing behind a long counter, taking in orders, handing them out, talking with customers, many I got to know a bit. Back then it was Rainbow Cleaners, a local dry cleaning chain and this was the main location. I spent hundreds of hours next to Dixie, who was darn near a local celebrity, working and talking about music. She was equally warm and gruff and you never had to guess what she was thinking because she'd just tell you straight out. I added a lot of great albums to my collection from artists she shared. This was my first time back in the building. It was a Panera for a bit after Rainbow left, and now The Avenue, a Cameron Mitchell restaurant. It's not as hot in here as it was back then. It's a little more nice around the edges too. The service was great, the staff were nice and the food was excellent. Even without the personal connection to the building I would easily come back. But since I do have that connection I will definitely be back and now I am really looking forward to it. read more

I've never had a steak here that hasn't been cooked to perfection, pure and simple. Wait staff is professional and well trained. They always have spoken knowledgeably about the menu and off menu selections available, not just reciting some words by rote. The Tavern offers black linen on request, which I feel is a subtle detail that is a mark of a high quality dining establishment. The patio is smaller in the front of the restaurant but on a summer night it is a wonderful experience to dine out and usually there is a nice gentle breeze. It actually was drizzling a bit when I was there last but the awning offered sufficient protection that I actually didn't notice it was raining for a while.
