I went to O'Donnell's again recently while in town for training with a local firearms trainer. I realized something important: the only reason this bar is tolerable is that I'm typically there with the trainer, who is well-known in the community. Thus, I get treated as a friend-of-a-friend, not an outsider. Otherwise, I surely would have experienced even more of the negative things these other folks are posting about than I already have. Bottom line, this place is a freaking dive, is filthy, and has awful service. The employees mostly have attitude problems-- I was looked at funny when simply ordering a beer, as if they didn't want my business because I wasn't one of their regulars. This is nowhere to take a client, a co-worker, a friend, or anyone else whom you want to have a respectable experience. The only reason I go here is that the trainer goes here all the time and they have a good beer selection-- and there's nothing else I'm really wanting to do after being on the gun range all day. Also, they have a pool table and it's two blocks from the Jefferson Inn, where I normally stay while in town. The staff needs a major attitude adjustment, and also compliance training so they don't over-serve. This should be a place where customers are welcomed, not a locals-only watering hole where I can barely get service. This place is often empty, while there are other establishments in town that are crushing it and are always packed, so obviously folks are voting with their feet. read more

Wow, just saw something crazy! What looked like a wedding party, full of high cheer, rolled in at about 11, payed a full cover charge and ordered a ton of drinks, only to be treated totally rudely by the staff? I watched from one porch, my first time back in a while, while the bouncers let them in. Then after they were seated near me a second waiter or bouncer BERATED them for having a WATER bottle from their prior venue, and confiscated it with total malice despite the bouncer letting it in 15 feet away? Maybe stupid to bring in a water, but a simple explanation would have surely found them embarrassed and apologetic -- Instead it just freaked them out! Shortly after, and before they had finished a good sized first round, a bouncer was pushing one of them out of the bar! The party seemed nice, young, well dressed and apologetic. But the staff just seemed to hate them for classing up the place and ordering drinks. I guess after paying the full cover charge the service is not worth the extra rounds? Or maybe the bar only serves locals? Bad business model either way because these folks were gonna drop some cash. Worse. you could tell at least one of the staff was not comfortable with the interactions and knew it wasn't cool. But wow, I will choose another place for the rest of my TDY and my future ones. The revelers were fun to talk to, some from outside of the country, pleasant energy, a bunch of women, and the staff was rude to the extent of assault. The party obviously didn't want trouble and all left. At least 10 drinkers in a shithole bar! Tough to stay in business these days with that. Choose Neville's or the Bell Tree if you're in Southern PInes. The staff at O'D's was basically lukewarm to me but tanked a potentially great night by chasing off the only approachable crowd -- Crap! I'd give this shit no stars and recommend counselling to the staff if not replacement. If the owner was working tonight, he's a fucking idiot -- I've seen nicer staff in the worst military towns, and So Pines has more to offer. Won't return. read more

Been my go to spot for the better part of a year now, strong drinks, good company, and a (mostly) excellent staff...however the newest bartender Chelsea is extraordinarily rude and will refuse to serve people she does not like regardless of their actions. read more

For some reason, a $5 cover was charged for this place... first red flag. Second red flag was the group of bouncers who were drinking and smoking cigarettes who said "$5 or just turn around." After getting in with little to no table space (because there is none, not because of crowd), we found a corner high top. After a round, a woman who was clearly drinking but in work attire, told our table we were trash for not returning our empty glasses to the bar or somewhere.. we can only presume. Shortly after, a guy who was also clearly drinking while working, came and literally pulled the table away from us saying to move or leave. Bottom line - this is a locals only bar who doesn't deserve your interest or money. It's a joke of an establishment with terrible customer service and in general. read more

Ok he pub isn't too bad. Service is as outstanding. This is an indictment on the town. Two bit one horse nonsense town. If I had to live here I'd shoot myself. Had to walk three miles back to me Hotel because there were no Uber/Lyft or taxi available. Never again. The only reason this is two stars is the bartender that actually tried to help us. I've never left a poor review. I don't believe in it. If you don't have anything kind to say, don't say anything at all. But we arrived to this establishment and the bouncers were immediately rude to us. We went inside and found a corner high-top table. Had two rounds of beers. Someone approached our table (unidentified) and told us we were "trash" for not promptly returning our empty glasses to the bar. Someone then pulled our table AWAY FROM US and told us to move or leave. Never had an experience like this before in my life but trust me, they don't want anyone that isn't a local. Additionally, the place was filthy. If you're visiting, like most people, I would not recommend going to this place. They don't want your business. read more

O'Donnell's is a bar that I feel like if I lived in the area, I would end up at often. It's very casual, the serve no food, and it takes a while to get a drink. But it's cheap, lots of great people congregate here and they have pretty much everything you could want in a bar. Plus the patio is dog friendly. read more

I came to the sad realization that I have only reviews of bars where I've had bad experiences. There are plenty of bars that I thoroughly enjoy on all counts and O'donnell's is one of them. I was introduced to the place by one of my childhood friends and it is like a second home to him. The bar tenders are nice, friendly, attentive and frequently hang out on their off days. This should be a given but considering the experiences I've had at a lot of bars this is actually a rarity. The drinks are fairly priced, there is a billiards table and the music is pretty good. Weekends they have live music and Sundays two of the regulars take control of the music and put on a nice, if somewhat comical, mix of their personal favorites. If you find yourself in need of something to do O'donnell's is the place to go hands down. read more

If I could write a 0 star review for this place then I would. I was there with a couple of clients on a thursday night for a beer. There was a woman in her 40s who was so drunk that she could barely walk. In spite of her condition, they kept on feeding her shots of tequila. At closing time, I was outside smoking a cigarette and she stumbled past and fell onto the pavement. Not that the staff noticed, or even cared. She just laid there. I had to pick her up. She couldn't stand, so I helped her into a chair. While I was trying to call a cab for her, one of the bartenders came out with a leaf blower (It's their no so subtle way of clearing people out) and yelled at us to leave. I knocked on the door. This woman is a stranger to me and they are the ones who obviously overserved her. They just waved me away and yelled, "We're closed asshole". I had to take her to the hospital due to the fact that she was bleeding from her face and unconscious. Horrible pub. Horrible staff. Horrible ethics. Fuck this place! read more

Wait staff matches the ambience of the pub: aged, impertinent, lacking in sophistication, benighted, and unexceptional. Spent less than 5 minutes inside and will never go back due to treatment by staff. Terrible establishment to bring friends and family. read more

This establishment might have been better in the past (based on other posts from 2011-2014) but unfortunately that seems to be no longer the case. The service is horrible. Don't go here if you are thirsty because the chances of ordering and receiving a drink are very low. The beer selection is pretty weak. I highly recommend avoiding this place at all cost. read more

This place is the only place to go if you want a true bar experience. Yes it's packed on the weekends but I've always seen that as a good sign. The drinks are priced well and it's the only place in town the serves a Imperial Pint(20oz) for every draught beer. My go to spot any night of the week. read more

OD's has improved immensely throughout the years and so has my alcohol tolerance. There's a special small town charm to the place, especially when you're 20 shots deep with three packs of empty cigarette packs in your pockets. read more
