**I believe it is appropriate to point out that 99% of these reviews are from 3+ years ago and I believe they had different management then** I have used O'Gormans 3 separate times now and have nothing but good things to say. They got my truck put of 4x4 that it out itself in, changed out thermostats on 2 separate cars, and did a simple oil pan replacement. 2/3 times were same day drop off/pick up. The ladies in the front are SUPER nice as well and make the vehicle issues a lot easier to handle! I will continue to use them for literally everything! 10 stars! read more

Zero stars isn't enough. Not only did this mechanic shop deliberately defraud me and put my life in jeopardy, but they also defrauded my insurance company. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. On January 1st I hit a deer with my 2010 Mazda 3 and had it towed to this location. The following Monday I talked with a woman named Maggie and asked that a full inspection of my vehicle be completed and she informed me that the only thing wrong was my electric power steering pump was broken. My bumper was cracked, but they do not do body work so I would have to take it elsewhere. Maggie then tried to upsell me in around $3,000 of general maintenance (like tires and filters). A virtual vehicle assessment was performed by my insurance company due to Covid and O'Gorman's was able to control the narrative and say only the pump needed to be replaced. A used part was sourced by my insurance company at a junk yard in state. Maggie chose to source the part from an out of state junkyard and send it to a mechanic shop in Chicago. After over two weeks of delays in just waiting for the part to arrive, it's installed and doesn't work. A brand new part must be purchased and installed. After 25 days of waiting for this one part to be installed I am notified that my car has been fixed. When I pick up my vehicle I am given the keys after I pay my deductible and take my car to an auto body shop to fix my broken bumper. On January 29th I am notified by my insurance company that my car is a total loss as there is over $7,000 in damages to the vehicle. My windshield washer tank was shattered, the air intake cover and grille were broken, the front and rear engine cover was ripped off, and all of the bumper/headlight/fog light damage just to name a few. Then I am told that O'Gorman's deliberately put in a bad part (the power steering pump was cracked open and leaking fluid). Serial numbers were compared to what was purchased directly from the dealer and what was installed on my car, they did not match. O'Gorman's then began avoiding calls by my insurance company and refused to send over the paperwork requested. Do not take your car here. They overcharge, upsell, lie to your face, and clearly do not care about the safety of their customers. I would say that they don't know how to do their job, but installing a broken power steering pump on a vehicle and making it work effectively is an impressive accomplishment. They are malicious and deceptive. 0/10 do not come here for any reason. EDIT: just to be clear, I called and spoke with Maggie BEFORE I spoke with anyone in my insurance company. I asked for a complete assessment of my vehicle in an attempt to see the total damage cost before I filed a claim. The electric power steering pump was the only damage ever reported to me. My insurance company claimed the same experience. Saying I was happy when I picked up my vehicle is clearly deflecting and manipulating the narrative. I am not a mechanic and have never seen a power steering pump in my life. Anything I was shown/told I believed as I was paying for a service. Owning up to your grotesque behavior isn't something I expected and I'm glad to see you lived up to my expectations of gaslighting me after you contributed heavily to my horrible experience. read more

This garage is unable to handle something as simple as a blown fuse. When O'Gorman's emissions machine was unable to get a reading from my car's OBD, they told me that the usual issue here is a blown fuse, but assured me, repeatedly, that they checked my fuse, and it was fine, so that was not the issue. They recommended that I take my car to a place in Waukesha, as I now needed to go to a DOT-recognized repair facility. There are actually 6 of these in Wauwatosa alone, so, it's odd that they are sending customers all the way to Waukesha. After doing a bit of research, I decided to check the fuse myself at home. Lo and behold, the fuse was blown. I replaced it myself and successfully passed emissions at a different shop the next morning. When I stopped in to recount this series of events to the staff at O'Gorman's, I was again assured that the staff "checked ALL of my fuses" and they were fine. Which is also puzzling - why check all of them? Check the one that connects to the OBD port. UPDATE: Sean, my thoughts on your comments: Even if a service is free, or performed as a courtesy to your customer, it should be performed properly. If it's not, it now becomes an inconvenience to your customer. Maggie asked me if I knew which port it was, which I had not committed to memory, so I told her that I did not. She did not ask me to look at my car - I did not decline anything. I would certainly have let your staff look at my vehicle if I had been asked. It's been more than three years since my encounter with O'Gorman's, but the experience left such a bad taste in my mouth, I feel I need to spit it out now. The memory was prompted by a mailer we received from the shop at our new address in Seattle(!). We brought my wife's Civic to O'Gormans for a routine oil change December 2009. No complaints on that front. They did the work we asked, used a synthetic blend oil, per my request, blah blah blah. After changing the oil and looking over the car, the mechanics determined that the brakes and battery needed to be changed. How they handled this is where I have serious problems with the shop. I made two mistakes in the situation: 1. I gave them my wife's number as point of contact. The lady in the shop called with the update that the brakes and battery would need to be replaced. She suggested that the pads were dangerously worn (they had not been making noise). She said that the battery was almost dead and likely to break down if my wife went to the store in the middle of the night in the winter. Fortunately, my wife is very savvy and too smart to be manipulated by this fear mongering. The battery was fine all winter, and we didn't end up replacing it until eight months later. Even then, it wasn't on its last legs. That the brakes and battery were worn much less than she made them out to be was the least of my concerns. If I can't trust a shop to treat my wife like a person, I'll take my business elsewhere. 2. I asked for a written estimate for the repairs. When I went to pick up the car, I wanted more details on what they would be fixing if I decided to hire them to do the brakes ... the number my wife had been given on the phone was a lot higher than I expected. So, I asked for an estimate. The lady in the shop refused, until I insisted that I just wanted to know what I would be paying for. Apparently they were having a problem with potential customers getting estimates there and using them to get a lower price at competing shops. With the way I was treated, it's not a surprise. The estimate for the brakes was around 350 and the battery, 150 installed. The shop insisted on changing rotors and pads as a set, and would not do only the pads even at my request. I've changed pads only plenty of times on my cars, but they're not the first people I've heard suggest that you should do both at the same time. I ended up changing the pads myself for $80, and when we got the battery done later on, it was $90 with free installation from another shop. (Regarding the mailer I mentioned at the beginning ... we've moved three times since getting service done at O'Gorman's, this last, to Seattle, and continue to receive their mailings!) read more

We communicated via email a couple times and through those emails we were able to reach a solution that I and they were happy with. I was shocked and impressed that Sean cares so much to try and make the customer happy and figure out the root of the problem. Came in with a coupon (mailed to me by Gorman's), was told the service would cost more than was advertised. Reluctantly told they would "do a one time exception" and charge me what was advertised..really?? All kinds of religious statements around the business- WWJD?? Doubt it would be bait and switch. I took my car in for an emissions test and also asked them to check my brake lights which I had been told were out. I was told that the bulbs were perfectly fine but the electrical system would have to be looked at; a 1-2 hour diagnosis. I left without any work done beyond the emissions test. I took my car to my local shop (they don't perform emissions tests) and they replaced the two bulbs and my brake lights are working fine once again. Who knows how many hundreds of dollars O'Gorman's would have charged for "fixing" my electrical system. AVOID O'GORMAN'S!!!! read more

Took my car there for an oil change, and received a call from the tech saying that my brake lights were on and he couldn't turn them off. I asked if he had time to look into the issue and he said he didn't have time to fix it. When I picked up the car later in the afternoon, I saw right away that the parking light button must have been pressed by the technician during the oil change, resulting to have the brake lights on, even when the car was turned off. If the technician would have just taken 5 minutes to look into his mistake, it would have been easily corrected instead of causing me house of stress on freaking out about having to get my brake lights fixed. Do yourself a favor and find an auto technician who cares about their customers and not just trying to fix as many as possible in a day. read more

Not impressed - name of the game is to upsell here. Brought my vehicle in 2x and got several recommendations on necessary service. They can handle oil changes but wouldn't go beyond that. I had need my rear differential fluid changed as received a call that it was a true necessity and new this was likely the case given my mileage. Women BEWARE! This so called auto service locale is your typical "Let's rip off women" type of place. I am extremely disappointed and disgusted at the thought of how much I would have spent had I not had a second opinion. I recently dropped my car off to have a howling noise looked at. About 2 hours later I received a call where the costs seemed terribly high for just a slight noise but then again, what do I know? That's why you go to the expert, right? At any rate, I declined the services and took my car elsewhere. To my dismay, O'Gorman Auto Service mechanics recommended parts be replaced that had no business being replaced. 1. Serpentine belt. According to the estimate, it was cracked and needed to be replaced. When double checked, the belt was like new-NO REPLACEMENT NEEDED! 2. Water Pump was leaking. The water pump was not leaking, it was the condensation frm the A/C! 3. Air & Cabin Filter needed to be replaced but I MYSELF had replaced the air filter the day before and the cabin filter was replaced 6 months ago. My car needed an alternator, which they did have on the estimate as well. Makes me wonder if these mechanics take pride in their work or if they're proud of providing an estimate of over $800 for fictional work. I would NOT recommend this place not in the least bit! It's a relief knowing that I knew better than to trust such an outrageous quote but others may not be as lucky. Hope this review can deter anyone from thinking they can trust O'Gorman or their employees. read more

Needed to get an emissions test done today. Called ahead to see if I needed to make an appointment and was told no and that they did the testing from 8a-12p and then from 1:30p-5p. Got there around 1:45 and saw a sign that said there was a 45 minute wait for an emissions test. That's cool. I can see that there's cars in the bay, so they're probably busy getting other work done. Not a problem. I ask if I can just put my name on a list and come back in 45 minutes. Nope. They need me to leave the car, but she suggests going down the road to Fast Track. I do. Fast Track kicked ass. Good job Ricky. Whole thing was wrapped up in less than 10 minutes. So what the hell did they need to hold my car for 45 minutes for? O'Gorman's seemed very disinterested in being helpful in any capacity. So, thanks for recommending that I take any future business to one of your competitors I guess? read more

Apparently there is a pattern in the manner in which they operate... BUYER BEWARE. If you take your car there for an oil change, get it done and ignore whatever they tell you above and beyond that... their intention is NOT an honest one. Incorrect (intentional?) diagnosis plus much higher repair costs than even a dealer! Here's my experience: Brought the car for an oil change because I had a "free" gift card I had gotten at an auction. Assuming the oil change was done correctly, I have not much to say about that. Here's where the ugly comes in: The girl comes out and says to me (with grave concern in her voice) that my car needs immediate attention and 2 specific repairs done. One, a leak in the radiator hose, and a second, both shocks need to be replaced immediately. She tried to have me approve the work right there and then (over $700 worth, no less), but knowing better (wise general approach in how to handle a similar situation no matter where you go), I thanked her for the information and that I would have it looked at elsewhere (somewhere I trust for starters). Because she said the radiator leak needed immediate attention (like NOW), I took the car to my trusted mechanic. An hour later he calls back... "hmmm, there is a SMALL leak but not from the hose, but a sensor"... (mind you, O'Gorman's wanted to replace the hose... so they would have NOT fixed the issue)...end result, an already lower quote for a hose replacement went down... total savings in comparison to O'Gorman's of over $100 PLUS the fact that their repair would have NOT fixed the issue to begin with. Second matter... shocks. No such thing. My trusty shop keeps good records, and they were able to determine when they replaced my shocks (I had totally forgotten). When I talked to them on the phone they said "if the shocks are bad, most likely they're still under warranty so we'll take care of that for you"... great to know, but even then the end result is that the shocks were perfectly fine, new (a year old) and absolutely NOTHING wrong with them. Very disappointed of the service of this local place! Expect the prices of the dealer. Reply to you comment, Sean: I did sign up for the initial price, which was reduced from 89,99 to 65 :included to dismount the tire, change the TPS, put the tire back, mount and balance. But in realty the issue was only to reset the computer, which is same operation that you would do when you change your oil( 30 sec) . Your guys never even took the tire from the car. That's what make me disappointed, if you ask me I absolutely believe that the right thing to do in that case to return the money to Customer. In respect to "your part" that's a certified OEM Lexus part, you I am sure saw that it was in sealed package. So no worries and certainly I am not interested to call and discuss more... read more

I brought my van in on 10/31/2019 with a problem with the valve stem leaking in the right, rear tire. I was called with the recommendation that I get two new rear tires. I authorized that and apparently there were issues with the right rear wheel lug nuts seizing up and it was necessary to try heating them in order to be able to get them off. I have issues with how all of this went down. I don't doubt that the lug nuts were seized but I feel as if I should have been notified of this and the possible ramifications of trying to heat the lug nuts prior to that taking place. The phone call I received was someone telling me they had bad news and that I needed to replace the hub assembly and the wheel nuts and I felt at the time I was being told that there was NO choice or alternatives. I spoke to our other mechanic we use on occasion and the question came up as to why I wasn't offered the option of just replacing the 1 lug stud that was damaged instead of replacing all of it. I do not feel as if this was properly explained to me and that I was not given any options. I've taken our vehicles periodically to this business but this latest experience has made me very hesitant to take my business there any longer. Eric read more

I went to Ogormans to have a starter put in my old van. We were planning on replacing it within a month. It has a wheelchair lift in it so I had to have it. Asked them to please put in a used rebuilt starter. She said she would. When I got the bill it was 706.00 dollars for a starter (New) and a battery. They charged me 88 dollars to put the battery in. I tried to talk to them but they were not helpful. They were very friendly until I complained. We purchased a new van 4 weeks later. I would be very careful making sure that you are not overcharged for work done. I also knew it was the starter and they charged me to make sure it was. Barbara read more

Updating this after their response with the same review due to their comment saying "The (NAPA) credit card, good only for the company that offers it, was because of the challenging price to you and was just presented as an option.". Their assumption that the "price being challenging" being the issue is annoying (I'm keeping my language relaxed right now). Don't assume what's challenging or not for someone. It was actually about being a a smart customer because if I needed to pay for it I could. Even if I was a millionaire, I wouldn't just spend $2700 without getting other opinions. It's clear that their methods have been show through all these reviews, not just mine so I'm glad others see it. But they are right about one thing, this was pretty unfortunate for them. We have been going to O'Gorman's for about seven years. It's a nice facility. We have found them to be friendly and trustworthy, answering our questions. They have many good deals/coupons including rewards that build up based on previous work with them. If an issue has come up (for example a tire they installed wearing out sooner than expected) they have always resolved the issue to our liking. I keep a log of repairs and haven't found any intentional mischief with suggested repairs. Usually they are catching things I knew would need fixing soon. In my experience any mechanic will have reviews like some posted here as they are only human, may make a mistake, may charge more than another mechanic. It comes down to: are these people you can trust and work with overall and who will iron out occasional issues to your satisfaction? We are happy with O'Gorman's. read more

I took my daughters car there because the high pressure hose from the power steering reservoir was leaking. So nearly $600 later it doesn't leak at the top. It leaks somewhere else. Since it's my daughters first car she didn't know she got a horrible repair job. I only noticed when I took the car for a drive. It sucks. She's been driving a car that that could be potentially dangerous. Please avoid this place. read more

My experience at O'Gormans was excellent. The people are very helpful and good at what they do. If you want good work done on your car with people that care I suggest you go there. I will go back if and when I need any other repairs. As an extra kindness the tech who worked on my car noticed that my safety belt was all twisted up and fixed it without me even asking him to it was an extra bonus. Really appreciated. O'Gorman's has been my car shop for years and I will continue to go back. I enjoy speaking with the women up front, they answer my questions and explain what I need to know. I did ask to see what they recommended last time and the technician showed me everything, it was really nice! They have stood by the warranty for me when I had an issue. I don't think they are the cheapest shop in town (although, they always send me coupons :-) but I prefer going here over the dealer and feel they do actually care about me! Totally screwed by this auto shop. I needed the alternator in my car replaced and they told me that it would be $500 for the part itself, and that getting an after-market part would be no cheaper as the part was for a VW and those parts are so expensive. I didn't have time to research it on my own as I work 80+ hours/week, so I told them to go ahead. Afterwards, my husband looked into it and found the part at Napa for $200. They also fried the fuse for my radio and their "free, helpful" advice was to go through the circuits and check them myself and replace them myself because they were not going to stand by their work apparently. STAY AWAY....you'd be better off going to a dealership than this place, and that's bad. read more

They are nice and I was happy to get in the same day, however....I don't know that it's much worse than their competitions, but this place practices what has been called "gotcha capitalism"; tagging on extra fees and charges on top of already very high prices. I recently had my air conditioning and alternator belts changed (one had shredded), the estimate was $195. I called Napa and found out that the 2 belts cost about $16 apiece. I do most of my own work (e.g. brakes, exhaust, tune ups, etc). You need to take off a wheel and loosen 2 tension bolts to change the belts, I'd be surprised if the mechanic spent 40 minutes on it. Nevertheless, I had about 10 things going on that day and needed my car back ASAP so I decided to go ahead. Of course it came back above the estimate. They charged me $92 for the parts plus an $8.88 "supply" charge.....They also told me I needed a new water pump and on this car you should change the timing belt when you change the water pump. I'm glad I called around before I did this because the estimates I got ranged from $100-$400 less expensive. read more
